Lazy movers and horrible customer service I ordered a couch from here and they originally told me it wasn't going to be here till January and ended up getting here a month early and I was happy and THREW OUT MY OLD COUCH, thinking I was going to get a new one the next morning, JUST TO FIND OUT THAT THE MOVERS DIDNT EVEN TRY TO MAKE MY NEW COUCH FIT INSIDE MY HOUSE. I was told they would send the handles to me so I can put them on myself. They sent the handles to the wrong address. May of 2020 I ordered online the Donovan II White Daybed W/Trundle, outside of the shakiness I love it, and maybe that's because I didn't have a mattress underneath it. I'v literally only have used this bed for sleeping in and nothing else. I don't have little babies balancing in it or a companion to share my twin bed with. I sit in it and watch tv before bedtime and go to sleep. I'm 5'2" and 147 pounds and my bed literally just caved in! The screws that connects the right bedside rails to the frame of the bed just broke. The top half of these screws are either on the floor or still in the wooden grid the mattress rest on. The tip of the screws are still in the side rails. LOOK I'M NOT WRITING THIS REVIEW TO CHANGE YOUR MIND FROM ORDERING THIS BEAUTIFUL PIECE BUT I'M WARNING YOU SO THAT YOU'RE AWARE OF SOMETHING THAT COULD EASILY HAPPEN TO YOU, YOUR CHILD, PARENT, OR GUESTS. Purchased these couches 3 years ago with a warranty we paid $220 for 5 years and they told me it only covers stains. All the leather is peeling on all 3 couches and they offer no type of repair or anything. We've bought several couches & sectionals from TRP over the decade-plus we've been an item. Our current sectional, while being a bit of a monster (size-wise, but that was of our own choosing as we have five kids), was purchased a few years back and is still in pretty solid condition (even with the aforementioned five kids!). We found it online, saw it briefly in person, ordered it, and left (more on why we streamlined this process in a second). Delivery was uneventful. The customer service has always been passable, although it's better via phone than in person. And here lies my beef with TRP: I absolutely HATE having to set foot into that brick-and-mortar establishment (hence the streamlined process). No, really. I *hate* it. Like...root-canal-at-the-dentist level hatred. Why? I'll tell you why...you walk in and it's like being thrown into a tank of starving piranhas. Not even playing...you will not be able to walk ten feet without saying "just looking today, thanks"...over & over & over again. I understand the desire to make a sale, and I respect it. But if I'm saying to you "I just want to look" please stop chasing me around the store. And if I'm purchasing an item...say, like, a sectional to the tune of 3K, I don't need the upsell on a set of ugly lamps or an area rug the size of Texas. You've already dished the warranty speech, and I get it. But that's it. If I say "no, thank you", please do not come at me with a coffee table that's nothing but sharp corners and is also hideous. When I called later to place an order over the phone I was given a sales guy who quickly took a $50 phone deposit before directing me to their site to complete the purchase. Had I been told I couldn't pay by phone I would have gone directly to the web. Anyways, I spent the next day going back and forth with them trying to find someone who knew how to make a payment via their site. Three different people told me I'd have to come in to the store to complete my order (not a possibility when I live in the city). Let me just start off by saying purchase from this company at your own risk. Back on July 10, 2020 I was in the store at Orland Park and purchased a fireplace TV stand. I was informed I had a no use no lose warranty on a prior living room set I purchased that could be applied to the purchased. After several weeks of calling and each time having to reexplain the situation, I finally received the store credit. However, every two weeks I was called stating the item I paid for was on back order, and was given a new delivery date each time. I received a call every two weeks changing the delivery date due to a "back order". The last call I received was a in voicemail form on October 14th, just stating the item was on back order with no delivery date. I quickly went to the store in Orland park and requested a refund. I was handled a refund without even as much of an apology or any offer of remedy for this horrible situation. And the item is still on display in the store! I am very disappointed in my experience with the Roomplace. The guy who came to put together my bedroom set damaged it bc he used the wrong screws. Tried to fix it without me noticing using gorilla glue, which made it worst. He would not have said anything if I would not have noticed. My chest for the set was on back order when I initially ordered the set in June. Finally gets here in August and the back of the chest is completely broken in. AGAIN....if i wasn't paying attention they would have left a damaged piece of furniture in my home. I made them take it back and now they can't tell me when I will get another one. The customer service experience is not the best. They kept calling my secondary number on the account and not calling me for updates. I also ordered a living room set and the date kept getting pushed back until finally they told me Novemeber (4 months out from the original delivery date). I decided to refund and go with another furniture store. If I didn't already have the bedroom set I would cancel the chest at this point bc I am being significantly inconvenienced. Went to the room place to buy a couch for my new place and everything was honestly pretty easy. I asked for their best price and truly felt like I got it. A day later, I took a look at my receipt and saw that I was overcharged for the scotch guarding. After doing some online research and seeing that I ca easily do it myself, I called and canceled the scotch guarding but kept the rest of my order. The salesman tried talking me out of it for 5 minutes but ultimately gave in. I got another call minute later saying that he can no longer honor the original price that he gave me because of the scotch guarding so I told me just to cancel the entire order because I was fed up with everything at this point. Then I got another call later saying I had to go into the store to cancel it. Once I got to the store, the general manager was very kind and offered me the same price that was quoted without the scotch guarding but I was too far gone. I recently had a problem with my warranty from Guardian. I purchased a sectional from the Room Place, and was told to get the warranty, and if anything should happen to my sectional it would be covered 100%. Well that most certainty was not the case. I was having such a problem with Guardian, that is until I spoke with Jasmine from The Room Place, and voiced my frustration. She assured me she would look into it, and wouldn't forget about me. When dealing with the salesman, he asked me to look into financing even though I had the cash to pay it straight out. He said I should still try. I formed him that I just bought a car and didn't want to add anymore hard inquiries on my account. He assured me that it wouldn't. I wasn't able to be financed (which I knew would be the case) and when I checked my credit report the next morning, wouldn't you know it, 3 new hard inquiries were added!!!!! Now my work schedule does not work with the delivery schedule AT ALL. I made special arrangements with my father for him to be home to accept the delivery for me. They delivered broken furniture to me, and erected it and left it there like they didn't notice it was broken and I wouldn't say anything. The damaged piece was so obviously damaged that it took me no more than 30 seconds to realize it when I arrived home that night. So I'm 100% sure the delivery team noticed it as well, but they didn't care. Strike 3, getting in contact with this store took 4 whole days!!!!!! I would call and be told someone would call me back within the hour. Of course I never received any calls back and it took me threatening to come into the store and make a scene they didn't want for them to get someone on the phone with me. And it wasn't the manager that called me back, it was the shiesty salesman! At this point I would have much rather have a full refund and not be tied to the company at all. Now it's looking like I'm gonna have to wait 3 more weeks when my dad is again available for them to come and deliver a replacement. But what am I supposed to do in the mean time? Okay, so we didn't have a bad experience here like some of the others. In fact it was quite pleasant. We had been shopping around for a few weeks for a new couch. We went here on the last day of our search. We found a couch that had everything we wanted for 50% off. I loved it as soon as I saw it. I loved only one more and it was twice the price. I wish I could remember the sales lady's name, but for the life of me I can't. She was always close by but I didn't feel like I was stalked. She was super friendly and answered all of our questions. They had even received some massage chairs in that massage your neck, back, legs, and feet. She gave us a demo after our order. It was so relaxing. The delivery guys were on time. They seemed a little rough with the furniture, and didn't have great attention to detail (when it came to removing some stapled cardboard from the bottom some staples were left sticking out.) It was only $70 to have our sectional delivered from Orland Park to Countryside. I thought that was a great deal. It was delivered in 2 days too. If you order before 1pm you can get delivery for the next day. After it was delivered, that very night I saw a commercial for a grand opening sale where you can get an additional 21% off everything in the store. I called customer service to see if we could get that, but she said the price we paid for our couch was as low as they could go. Boo! But really, I didn't even rebuttal like I normally would because we got a seriously fantastic deal on our couch. It's made well, bonded leather, great color. It also came with a limited lifetime warranty. They tried to get me to buy their warranty at the store, and if I had then saw the manufacture warranty covers the exact same thing, I would have been livid. So yeah, I wouldn't buy their additionally warranty, it's kinda pricey too. I almost bought it but I asked it they would replace the cushions if they started to sink, and he said it doesn't cover normal wear and tear. That was the deal breaker. So while I think service could have been a bit better here in regards to delivery guys and customer service not applying the sale to us on the same day it was delivered, overall it was a good experience. I've been a loyal customer to TRP for many years. I furnished my first apartment with furniture from here and just recently my new home. I'm so dissatisfied with my last purchase and the way the customer service team handled the situation that I don't know info could shop here anymore! I purchased the Evelyn sectional in April. While in the store the floor sample was so comfortable and seemed like it was good quality, 2 reasons I purchase it! However, when I received the couch it felt very different than what was in the store. The cushions did not fit the couch properly, they were uneven and there were about 1-2 inch gaps between all the cushions making the couch very uncomfortable to lay or sit on. I called customer service to express my concern and was told that I should "break it in" and that the floor sample has been sat in and used which is why it may have felt different than the one I received. Fast forward a month later and still had the same issues so I call customer service again and was told sometimes the manufactures change so maybe that was the reason my couch was so different than the one I thought I was purchasing. The customer service rep offered to have a technician come to look at it. Since there was no actual damage to the couch the technician couldn't do anything. I've had the couch for 5 months now, I am embarrassed to have it in my home and hate sitting on it. I'm stuck with this and I regret purchasing in it every single day. I'm also very frustrated with how the situation was handled that I don't think I will ever buy from here again. At the time of purchase I asked the salesman if the merchandise was in stock and of course he said yes and it would be delivered that Saturday.
