My sister and I checked Rooting Fork out for brunch on a Friday morning. There was hardly anyone there, so I placed both of our orders at the counter and then sat down on the big deck with my sister and her adorable dachshund, Hershey. They are dog-friendly for outside diners. I got the eggs beni, and my sister got a scrambled egg bowl with tater tots, bacon, and cheese that she really liked. Their bacon was nutso-good, and my poached eggs were perfect. It was a little expensive, including a service charge and a tip. For me, that makes it cost-prohibitive to eat there frequently, but they do really seem to care about their employees, which is pretty awesome. This place is definitely a treat! Everyone was super-friendly, and someone did even come outside to check on us and bring us to-go boxes. I would definitely return if I had the opportunity. The fresh squeezed orange juice was sweet, and a good portion sized. The restaurant has a cute hometown feel and decor. The food was delicious, and we loved that the outdoor seating permitted pets. The place does have a large self-service portion, as you walk up to order along with gather your own silverware/condiments. Your food is brought to you based on your table tent number, however. We felt the portions were very generous, and were surprised by the size of them. The tator tots with The Forky were extremely crisp, and did not get soggy the entire meal. Services was wonderful and staff was great. I asked the young lady what she would recommend. She suggested the Steak Omelette, which I kindly obliged. That thing was enormous. I met up with some colleagues at The Rooted Fork recently. I've never heard of this place nor have I really been in Cibolo before, aside from driving through. This place is a cute restaurant in a small, quiet area. I'm not sure what the meaning of the name is, but there are forks hung up all over the walls. Maybe I'll look it up later. Everything on their menu is very reasonably priced and I ended up ordering the egg beni's (benedict). It came with two poached eggs/country ham/English muffins, topped with Hollandaise sauce (obvi), with potatoes. It was just the right about of food. I'm not sure if it was sitting on the counter for a while before it was served to me, or because it was freezing cold in the restaurant (it was 32°F outside), but my food arrived barely warm to me. They seemed pretty on top of things, so I'm going to blame the temperature. Speaking of temperature, it seemed like they didn't have a heater for the restaurant, or it was broken because each of us had to go back out to our car to eat with our jackets on. If I were in the area again, I'd definitely eat here again with the family. read more

First visitvand I give it five stars. The food was amazing. You have to order the peach crumble pancakes whether you like peaches or pancakes or not. We got one order that we split between the three of us. I got the dish called A Healthy Way which included scrambled eggs, bacon, sweet potato tots with some spinach. I give that dish a five. It is such a cute place with such a variety of food on their menu that I can't wait to go back and try one of their sandwiches next time. The only criticism I have is that the staff behind the counter should be aware to not make others behind the person you're talking to wait longer than they have to. Someone who is behind me was waited on before me, and I almost gave this four stars instead of five because of it. Hopefully they can learn from that. It's OK to chat with your regulars, but if people are waiting behind then you sort of have to speed it up. That leads me to tell you that you place your order first and then you go sit down. This is one of my favorite brunch spots that I've had so far in the San Antonio area. The whole vibe of downtown Cibolo is just so charming and this restaurant fits that. I love that many of the businesses/restaurants on this street are older homes, so you really get that cozy feel when you enter. You order at the counter and take your number to your table. There are lots of seating options. There's plenty of seating inside, on the porch or on the grassy area. Service is great, everyone is super friendly. I've been here twice. On my first visit, it was insanely busy and we waited almost an hour to have our food brought to our table. They did warn us before we ordered about the wait, so it was expected. Good thing I had a bottle of champagne for our mimosas to sip on while waiting! The second visit, we got there around 10am on a Sunday, same day of week and time as my first visit and it was kind of empty! It was easy to find a table and food came out to us in like 10 minutes. The busy-ness is really a hit or miss, but whether there is a long wait or not, the food and service is totally worth it! My favorite is the shrimp cake beni and the cinnamon toast crunch iced latte. The selection is pretty good and presentation is very pretty. One thing that caught my eye was the owner touched someone's food just before it went to the customer. She was tapping the runny egg, for whatever reason, and then she took a rag and wiped the side of the plate. I watched them make my food. Another yummy visit to the Rooted Fork! I'm really enjoying getting the "Chef's Choice" lunches. Today's dish was a fiery creamy pasta with shrimp, bacon, and smoked meat.
