Chicken Fried Steak

Great food! And the service! The ambiance is unmatched! People should visit. And give them business.

Hand breaded chicken tenders (as good a tender as you can get)
Dean C.

We were traveling through from skiing in Vermont back to Connecticut and stopped because our daughter need to use the restroom and decided to look at the menu of this "diner". It is not what I think of as a diner, because it is a smaller menu that is entirely homemade. We had the hand breaded (twice) chicken tenders which were delicious and as good as I have had anywhere,, along with hot dog, which was very good with split top toasted bun. Our daughter had a cheeseburger (smash burger) which was above average and beer battered onion rings which were crispy (beer battered are often too soggy for me) and as good as onion rings get. There is also an Indian side to this menu which if you had asked me in the parking lot I would have been a solid no, however after seeing that there is truly a chef running this kitchen, I would definitely try next time.

Food was amazing. So glad the original integrity of the diner remains! Will be back for sure! Great value.

Food- 4/5 Overall experience- 5/5…read more It was a fun spot to stop at to break up our drive back to Boston. The lot was small but many people were coming in and out so we didn't have to wait long to get a parking spot or outdoor seating. There are two shops: the deli and market with different vibes and items inside. The market is a quick shop with some snacks, drinks, coffee, and knickknacks. The deli is where the hot/cooked foods are at with some other specialty foods. The food was overall ok, nothing noteworthy. The main attraction is their Mac and cheese that had been circulating my IG feed. Don't think it's life changing but the shops have curated selections of local goods that are reasonable priced to get some last minute treats. Pass on the general tso(?) and the potstickers in my opinion unless you're really craving it. The desserts looked amazing and would definitely get one next time

We were able to get a spot in front with no issue, but I imagine that this was because it was a week day. We chose the Mac and cheese and the maple pulled pork. Both were worth the hype in my opinion. The mac and cheese was super creamy and paired well with the tender pulled pork. The baked goods were nothing to write home about. Maybe we just chose the wrong items? We tried: Oatmeal cookie - good, but not amazing. Chocolate chunk/ peanut butter cookie - stale as heck and basically inedible. I always am leery of saran wrapped cookies that are out on display because its impossible to know if there are actually fresh. The giant stacks of cookies were too enticing to pass up on. The chocolate cookie we purchased was definitely not fresh at all. $3.29 down the tubes - lesson on saran wrapped cookies learned (again). Carrot cake whoopie pie and original whoopie pie - both tasty, but the cake was too thick for my personal liking. We sat in the small outdoor seating area to eat. This was a nice little reprieve from the car ride.

Interesting little venue. Went up to Brattleboro to spend a day with my boyfriend and when we drove…read moredown the street, came across this place and opted to try it. Very dated on the inside but I think that's supposed to be part of it's "charm". We were one of maybe four parties (all less than 3 people in each) and the server, who was a semi-nice older woman, seemed SO lost and overwhelmed for the place not being busy. Very frazzled and it took a while to get drink refills and the additional sauce we had originally ordered with our meal. The menu isn't vast, so don't go in expecting to try something new. We opted for the Vermont burger, and the Double Smash burger. They were....eh. Nothing to write home about. Being known for their fresh ingredients (according to google) I would have to disagree. Everything seemed pretty standard..frozen fries/frozen patties etc. Maybe I am wrong but that's how it had tasted.

Food was edible but not great. Server was very nice and attentive. "Out" of all diet soda (Coke company didn't deliver (possibly due to outstanding debt? Just speculation on my part but seems fishy). Menu on line is not the dated menu we were offered. Not worth the stop.

Seriously though, one of the issues with…read morebeing vegan and a foodie is that preparing haute cuisine dishes that are vegan is painstakingly time consuming. Try making seitan at home from gluten "flour" to see what I mean. This place though nails it. This is basically a high end restaurant that happens to be vegan. Full bar, wine selection, the works. In my opinion this is the best restaurant in Brattleboro. Menu items that stand out in no particular order: - Arancini cakes. These were heavenly. They are nicely crisped up at the bottom giving them a bit of a smoky flavor - Seitan salad: fully loaded salad with nice mix of flavors. Can be a bit on the spicy side for some people. - Swedish meatballs: my kids loved these. Come with perfectly crispy Brussels sprouts and herbed rice. 10/10 - Chicken riggies: this was also perfect for kids. The sauce for the rigatoni is very well put together. Basically this place is all hits on my list. Will be sure to stop here next time we are on a ski trip.

The restaurant is deceptively larger and the art on the walls is so cool. But the real magic was the food. SO So so good! My husband had the meatless meatloaf and it was a huge portion. I had the risotto and it was so delicious. Absolutely a must stop. Parking is available on the street and in front of the auto glass across the street BUT only when it's closed AND only directly in front.

Our group of seven was seated right away thanks to our reservation, but the wait for both drinks and food was on the longer side. Our server apologized multiple times, which we appreciated, and we passed the time playing phone games with the kids to keep them busy. The pierogies were a highlight, with a nicely crispy exterior and a creamy filling, and the shoestring fries came out salty and crunchy. My chicken cordon bleu sandwich, though, didn't really live up to the name, and the side salad was pretty plain with just a basic vinaigrette. My wife's grilled cheese with fried chicken strips also seemed a bit undercooked, and the chicken had a slightly rubbery texture. Overall it wasn't our best dining experience, but the atmosphere inside is very nice and the staff themselves are kind.
