Very friendly staff that take care of you. Good food. We did add hamburger to the nachos for $4.50 extra and we didn't think it was worth it. Not that much meat. Everything else was good. Busy in the restaurant. There are tables and high tops. We sat at the bar. I really want to update my review. I went to the Royal Oak Brewery on mother's Day after brunch. The place was still fairly full with large tables of people. There was only two of us we set up near the bar at a high top. We were greeted by Erin, still with a smile but obviously she had been working extremely hard that day. She grabbed our beers and gave us a chance to take a look at the menu. When she came back, she told us up front that the kitchen was about an hour behind, and asked if we still wanted to order. I find this to be such an attribute to her being a server. I wanted to give a shout out to her because otherwise I would have probably been upset if she just kept making excuses. By her being up front, it made my experience at this restaurant so much better. Honesty is everything when it comes to service and she exceeded our expectations. She kept checking on us making sure that we were okay? It was totally understandable being mother's Day. Our food came and I tried the Korean turkey burger for the very first time and I'll tell you it was outstanding. I do not give five stars very often but all in all my experience with the staff, and the food. The five stars is well deserved. read more

The menu changed since I've been here and some of the new additions were good (caprese salad) but the service was extremely slow, to the point where my carryout order is going to be very cold. The menu is interesting and usually well prepared, and always very tasty. The happy hour nachos are the best. Happy hour pizza I like to order well done. Prices are on the low/normal side, for quality food. Their beer is some of the very best, especially the IPA which has a great taste and yet much lower ABV (6.2) than many other IPAs. The other beers are all very good; an Italian pilsner tastes great and a low 4.8 ABV makes it a safer option when driving home. They seem to be focusing on great beer with lower ABVs, and that's a very good thing. The bar staff and all the staff are very friendly and attentive and make every visit a pleasure. The "brown bar" look, the concrete bar, give it a very comfortable ambiance. It's hard to imagine a better brewpub experience. read more

These were amazing bar nachos and the portion was great for sharing. The house was bumping, food took longer than desired for some patrons at our table but I know how it is. Despite our waitress being busy she was always really nice, cool and calm. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but it's conveniently next to the comedy club. Come get their nachos. read more

Waited forever for food last night. Literally no one in the restaurant (4-5 tables) and 5-6 cooks back there (you can see them) and waited 45 minutes for chicken bowl and then it came out luke warm. Then today my stomach torn up from it (all I had was that and some popcorn) and my stomach NEVER has issues, I can eat anything and here I am torn up. Don't recommend at all. Honestly would get 1 star but waitress was good and she was fast at getting drinks and drinks are great. Nothing else tho. lol read more

Went for a work party! They were able to accommodate us very nicely had a group of 10. The food was absolutely amazing. Mac n cheese pizza looks like craft but tasted divine like garlic aioli absolutely delicious! Everyone's food was very good and came out on time. We were in Royal Oak visiting a loved one at rhe hospital and chose to grab some dinner before heading back to the other side of town. Beer sounded like a good idea so we came to visit Royal Oak Brewery because it is a stop on our Craftapped app - Getting our bogo 50% off beers was a breeze. We each ordered something different. I got the Ruben without sauerkraut because I was feeling corned beef. I wouldn't order it again, it was less corned beef than represented on their online menu pics, all balled up on one side to make it look like a bigger sandwich when cut/displayed. The bread was SO toasted it was basically a crouton. The fries were very good though! My siblings got the cheesesteak and the Cuban. I don't believe they had any complaints. The beer we got was good, I tried several, but only really wanted one of them because they were all too malty for my liking. I really think you should have a couple more hop forward menu items available even in the winter months to satisfy all customers. The option given to me by our attentive server was a cider... little sweet for my tastes, so I just stuck with the Kolsch. Little light, but was a good beer. Overall, would be back. We tried this place back in August before a show at Mark Ridley's. I really wanted to love it but I just didn't. The pretzel appetizer came with liquid mustard dipping sauce. I asked the waitress if that was typical and she said yes. I've never seen a mustard that is pure liquid before, anywhere. I tried the country grilled cheese as my entree. It sounded amazing on paper but I mostly just picked at it. I loved the idea of it but something just was off for me. I will say that the restaurant graciously took the charge off our bill even though I said it was fine. That was really kind. My boyfriend had the Nashville chicken sandwich. He liked the flavor but said it wasn't very hot. The presentation also left something to be desired. The service was good and they have solid drinks. Just wasn't wowed by the food. Might give it another try next time we are in RO. read more

Service was excellent and attentive. The waitress was very attentive and brought us our food and beverages promptly. I had the chili and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and am only doing the review of my meal. I am not sure if she liked her Shepard's Pie or not. The Chili was good. A little thin for my liking, but it was good. No beans (which is good for me) and the heat was solid. It really had an after bite. My bun was cold and somewhat smooshed. The Nashville chicken was marginal at best. Tiny piece of thin chicken that was fairly dried out. It was served with a lot of mayo (too much). I also was not Wild about the coleslaw. I will be back because I like the beer and the patio in the summer, but probably won't eat here again. read more

If I could rate a zero I would. Been here before with good service and good drinks/food. Decided to stop in at 10pm for some drinks and sat for 15+ min and nobody came to our table. Plenty of employees walking around. We would've had 1-2 drinks at least but we gave up and left. Poor customer service. And to top it off we waited for our ride outside and watched as a party of 10+ got sat and had drinks within minutes. Solid, been here for years and will last. They put out quality. It's good food, beer and just a good time. My burger the juicy Lucy, with cheese and double patties patties, was a pretty big fat tasty burger,can't complain. Just an overall good time. The back patio is great in the summer. It has its own bar, which makes for quick drink service. We started with the nachos, which were great to share. I had the wings which were fantastic and others had good sandwiches. The Mexican lager is really refreshing on a hot day. Highly recommend. read more

I have actually been her twice in the last 2 weeks . I was outside on the patio one time and indoors the other. The service was actiuallly better indoors, but it was loud and hard to hear. The food was excellent as "bar food" goes. We tried a nice selection of appetizers including Nachos, Pretzels. Quesadillas and Mediterranean Pizza. It was ALL good. Walked or driven by this place the last 2 years. Finally made it a point to stop in. Nice seating area very clean. The service was fantastic. Very good beer selection. I enjoyed the three different ones I tried Northern Kolsch, Royal Oak Red and 4th Street Wheat. All three very smooth and fresh tasting. The Kolsch was my favorite. I had the House burger and fries. We went to the Royal Oak Brewery at 6:00 on a Saturday night and were seated right away. We appreciated that the whole staff was wearing masks. I started to get an iced tea, but the server said she was told it wasn't good, so I just had water. I truly appreciated her honesty; I hate bad iced tea. I ordered the hangover burger. The sauce had a little kick to it, but I liked it. (I generally don't like anything spicy.) The seasoned fries were good, but a little under cooked for my taste. I will take care of that when I reheat the leftovers. (The burger was so big that I only ate half of it.) My sister had a veggie pizza. She liked it, but there wasn't enough sauce for her taste. I would have liked it just fine as it was. My nephew had a spicy chicken sandwich and enjoyed it, but he did need a bit of water to take care of some of the spicyness, as his beer (served in a very cool glass!) does nothing to cut that. My nephew's girlfriend had the beef stroganoff and she liked it as well. It didn't look like the sauce was very creamy, but she said it was fine. She got a beer that she liked and said that it reminded her of grapefruit. I tasted the apple cheesecake. I thought it was a kind of strange flavor, but the caramel sauce it was served with was really good. Stopped in on a Thursday evening for dinner and a wings game. They had replays of golf and a no-name bowl game on, but didn't have the red wings or Michigan basketball on. We asked them to change one of the tv's, which they begrudgingly did. The place wasn't too busy, and I doubt anyone was watching the reruns of a 2-year old golf tournament. We wanted to start with a round of beers. They were out of half the beers, but the flight was ok. The Flanders red ale was so terrible. Left a horrible taste, but our server was nice enough to exchange it which was much appreciated. Their fryer was down apparently so the fish tacos were served grilled instead. They were pretty good, but not what we came for. Didn't hit the craving. The Lucy burger was one of the most mediocre burgers I've ever had. The bun was so flat and looked like a wonder bread type quality. Meat was definitely overcooked and a little dry. Ordered it with cheddar instead of American, but it came with American anyway. Overall the taste was ok after adding ketchup and mustard, but it as a very mid level burger. The fries were crispy but luke warm. The jerk chicken sandwich was probably the best entree. The chicken was tender and the jerk flavor was good. Fries were not hot, but did the trick. Overall a 4-5/10. Probably won't be back. read more

Our Meetup group came for an early dinner after the zoo walk since it had outside dinning. I got there after some but a few later. The server let me order a diet Coke while I looked over the menu. Lots for choices but I narrowed it down to beef stroganoff and their version of the maurice salad. I thought the beef stroganoff had won out but the server came out to tell me the chief told her that they ran out!!!! WTF, it was only 4:00 in the afternoon and being a brewery I bet they close much, much later. So it was the maurice salad. While I waited the leader of our group shared the pretzels and beer cheese appetizer, which I thought about. It was delicious. I wish I could say the same for the salad. I have eaten Maurice salad in at least 6 places and this one was average at the best and bottom of the list at the worst. Didn't take part of home if that tells you something. Made me wonder what the beef stroganoff would have tasted like. The service was what you expect from a brewery pub. It had diet Coke. Others who had a drink enjoyed it. Since I do come in the area for work, I might try it again or I might not. read more

The last few times we have been here to eat, I've gotten the nashville hot chicken sandwich. It is some of the best, and hottest, nashville hot chicken I've had outside of Nashville!!! Went to catch up with a friend and the service was excellent. It took us a while to order dinner since we were talking for a while and the server was patient and kept checking in until we were ready. The food unfortunately was pretty mediocre at best. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was smashed and all I could taste was hot sauce and was very greasy. I wish the chicken was better breaded and crispy. The Reuben sandwich was also pretty greasy and bland. The beers were pretty good had the red and kolsch but the food was disappointing. Might go back for drinks or appetizers but not sure for dinner. read more
