Cute coffee shop with plenty of seating though it can fill up pretty fast. Along with drinks we split a piece of cake which was delicious.

Desert oasis was a good coffee shop. It was not very busy for a Sunday morning. The coffee tasted good. They did have an assortment of crepes to order. We asked about bagels and the staff person told us they don't carry bagels because they are down the street from Brueggers. The atmosphere was ok.

One of my favorite coffee shops in Royal Oak! There is such a large variety of coffee options and everything is very well-priced. I love their pistachio latte, not too sweet! If you're looking for a great ambiance to either catch up with friends, play cards, or study/work, this is definitely the spot! There is plenty of seating and the front has garage doors that go up when the weather is nice and lets in a lot of fresh air. I will say the seating isn't the most comfortable, but certainly doable. The service here is great! Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. Don't skip on this spot if you're in Royal Oak!

Fantastic coffee and great prices. Service is friendly, and the vibes are relaxing. One of my favorite spots!

This is a fabulous coffee shop if you want gothic academia vibes, moody lighting, and chill tunes. It's spacious and has different types of seating from bar stools to couches, or tables and chairs. The service is always great: the baristas are helpful and welcoming. They'll hand you a numbered card and bring your order to your table. The cheesecake is super solid- the brownie (gluten free) is my favorite. Variations of chocolatey layers complemented by sweet and fluffy layers of caramel-y cream. Tres bien. Their house coffee is smooth, medium bodied (imo) and very drinkable. I like that it's light- sometimes if you want a few mugs or a pairing, you need a complementary background drink, not a coffee nuke. Brownie points for cute glassware! Where I think Dessert Oasis could step up their game is in their latte biz. I've tried the lavender, and for this review, the pumpkin chai latte (plus two shots of espresso- basically a dirty chai latte to jumpstart my evening.) For whatever reason, their lattes and flavorings taste a little dull to me... like slightly burnt espresso or flat espresso that flirts with the distant memory of whatever flavor you choose. I didn't get a lot of pumpkin, pumpkin spice flavor, nor chai flavor... you knew there was something there beyond the milk and espresso, but it was kind of bland and bitter? I don't believe this was a side effect of adding espresso, as their iced lavender latte I had straight up did the same thing. Maybe it's the type of espresso used? Their lattes are good, but they could be brighter and punchier. Just my taste! This is a great spot for dates, small groups, studying, working, etc. There's a parking structure within a block that doesn't charge for the first two hours. I'll be back to Dessert Oasis, it's tres chill.

Gluten-free brownie cheesecake

There is a back entrance that is next to the parking garage and some parking spots, so you don't need to go around the block. It's a great place to catch up with a friend, work/study, or read for a while. My favorites here are the salted caramel latté (it's good hot or iced because they mix the caramel sauce with the espresso rather than just drizzling it, so it gets well incorporated) and the gluten-free brownie cheesecake. It's probably one of the best gluten-free cheesecakes you can get! There is a bussing cart and trash near where you order and pick up your food/drink.

Nice coffee shop, people and unique selections of coffee. I found through a search for Ethiopian Coffee and I was pleasantly surprised to find it locally. The ladies at the counter were very knowledgeable about brewing methods, pour-overs, drip, brewing tricks, etc. Parking is conveniently located on the street and parking lots behind the coffee shop. It's a very chill coffee shop with a nice and cozy vibe.

16oz iced latte with soy -- too oily tasting
Irene C.

I ordered an iced latte with soy. I wanted to like it because the place looks like a hipster coffee joint with pour over setups etc. I was a little disappointed in my order. The latte had a very oily mouthfeel. This usually is a problem with the bean roasting process. My husband got the hot brewed coffee which was fine. Came here on a Sunday morning so it wasn't crowded. People were on there laptops working. The space is spread out and would be a great place to work. The staff is friendly. Young college type guys working the coffee stations. Overall disappointed w the coffee but gave it 4 stars for the ambience and service. I will try this place again and give it another review. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

The coffee was good! I got one of their novelty pour overs. The caffeine was very strong so unless you're a consistent coffee drinker, I wouldn't recommend drinking more than one. The ambiance was laid back and more modern. It seems like a very good place to get work done and have good coffee. There is a decent amount of seating and tables. There is a bit of a line because there's was only around 2 barista working.

Great coffee, friendly staff and a great atmosphere! Stopped in here a few times on my way home from work for that "end of the day pick-me-up" of energy. They have really good non-corporate coffee. Which to me, means that it's very unique and is full of flavor. No sugar or creamer needed. I've even had some of the cold brews and they are very top of the line. The atmosphere in this coffee shop is really "homey". It looks like they have a set up for live music in here, maybe not though because I've never caught any of it when I've stopped in, but I've seen a lot of people working on things on their laptops or reading. That's always a good thing to have for a coffee shop. This place is near one of the main parking structures in downtown Royal Oak, so parking isn't too much an issue. If you're lucky, you can find a meter out front or around the corner too!

We entered in on Mother's Day expecting a full house, but found ourselves confused when there was no one in the store. We ended up saying hello repeatedly in the store until someone came out of the back a couple of minutes later. While this came as a confusion, it wasn't the first time it's happened in the establishment when I've entered in. However, I must say I absolutely love the aesthetics and delicious goodies themselves! A very cozy and modern atmosphere with specialty drinks, such as an avocado-based shake, or mango ice cream with real honeycomb on top.

Ordered a Honey ginger tea and Arasi smoothie. $13.48 A staffer had us try their zero sugar ice cream, vanilla and mango. I am not a big fan of vanilla, it's too plain to me. They have an Oreo cone, that's unique. Pastries look interesting, but not appetizing though. The ginger honey tea is quite odd, not a big fan. The spices are not so good. It's got an odd taste that hits the back of my tongue and throat and makes it taste off somehow. My husband likes it less than me. This tea would have been left ad ginger and honey only. The odd concoction of spices made it really tough to drink. Like a bad medicine going down. They gave us a Boba straws and it doesn't fit inside the slot for the smoothie at all. The Vimto isn't for me, tastes like syrup to me. Smoothie would be better with mango only. We swapped drinks, since each of us could tolerate one drink over the other.
