Every single employee said hello, gave a smile, or conversed with us. Wow! That is rare and it felt great to be there. I was very enamored by the mugs and light fixture created by a local glass blower. Beautiful work. Space is large and we sat at the long bar, but there are tables and booths too. Patio outside for those warm days. They offer beer, cider, wine, spirits... you name it. We went with a few beers and they were great. Menu is clearly labeled with sours containing lactose. Love when it's easy to spot. Food menu has loads of vegetarian options with a small few that could be vegan. We only ordered the spent grain pretzels with mustard and they were delicious. They do have tofu or Beyond burgers to sub on the burger menu if you're vegan. Carnivores have loads of options here. I came in here because I liked the name and it was near an event I was attending. It's big with plenty of on site parking. The witchy and vibrant decor were fun! Mandy behind the bar was super helpful with recommendations. I had the cherry hard cider which was slightly tart and delicious. Next I had a cup of Wild mushroom Soup which was earthy and rich. I could imagine it being cooked in a cauldron in the woods. Lastly I had their blueberry lemonade salad. Wow! This was a treat from the slightly candied walnuts to the blueberry vinaigrette. We were seated fairly quickly and were able to sample a few of the craft beers before placing our order for the taste we liked best. This was hard to choose from because they all tasted amazing. My wife ordered the Buddha Bowl which has amazingly fresh ingredients and she highly recommend it. I ordered the wild mushroom soup and our grandson had the chicken tenders kids meal. We opted to sit outside because the air conditioning was cranked up to an uncomfortably cold level. Patio seating is nice, but some seating is in full sun even with the umbrellas open, depending on the time of day. Service was almost non-existent after we were seated, even after complaining, but aside from that, we had a decent meal and everyone enjoyed their beverages. They have an outstanding beer selection, as well as some choice cocktails and mocktails, but only one non-alcoholic beer. Add far as food goes, I highly recommend the Buddha bowl. I added chicken this time, which was dried out but still had good flavor. The grilled chicken salad was good, but had the same dry chicken that was in the Buddha bowl. The mac and cheese was decent after adding a considerable amount of salt, though it also was quite dry. My husband ordered chicken and waffles and said the chicken was good but the waffle should have been better--it was dry and had too much cinnamon. The burgers and fries were given thumbs up. It was disappointing that the mushroom burger and grilled chicken salad both came with onions, when they were ordered without due to an allergy. Love all the glass mug art (looks like they have a TON of people in their mug club), and the clear community engagement and support with info on the walls about various fundraisers. One warning about going on a Sunday - they may be low or out on a lot of items from the weekend. I was not able to get my first choice beer or first or second choice meal haha. I'll have to come back! Wanted to try the That Woman Lavender IPA. Since that was out, I got their popular Train Hopper IPA and was happy with this! Solid beer. Wanted to try the Beef Birria Elote Bowl or an item from their specials, this goat cheese pesto tomato jam sandwich that sounded phenomenal. I didn't really care for their beers, and $400+ to have a mug hanging around was silly. They seemed a lot less interested in you as a guest when they realized you didn't want a mug. Good blend of flavors. Thrash punk coffee kolsch- this a blonde coffee beer. My husband loves its. Strawberry rhubarb- this is made very well! The flavors balance each other. If you're not a fan of rhubarb you may not like it. The kipper- wee scotch heavy- sweet and malty 4/5. Squib kick- Munich dunkel- malty flavorful. Sweet Lou coffee stout- 4.5 stars. Great coffee beer. Sweet potatoes- really liked. The chicken tenders chunky pieces of meat they were ok not great. The bbq sauce was ok it was a sweet sauce. Met up with friends here when they visited town. We live in Lyon Township and have always wanted to try this place out. They have a dog friendly patio, so I'll be keeping that in mind so I can bring my shepherd next time! My husband and I came here for our monthly motorcycle meetup. Lots of space especially during the summer with outdoor seating. We have come here just the two of us with our pup too. Dog friendly patio is a plus! Witch's Hat Brewing Company has a good selection of beers, meads, and ciders. I love the giggle juice and the blueberry bumble. The giggle juice is strong so adding it to a seltzer like the blueberry bumble makes it last a little longer. There is a good selection of food. My husband ordered the birra elote deconstructed bowl and I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with an extra patty. I opted for no bun with sweet potato fries. So good! The burger is made smashed style with caramelized onions with the mushrooms. The sweet potato fries come with a thousand island type sauce. Yum! The service is always great. On Sunday the family and I went to the Witch's Hat Brewing Company for lunch. I ordered the fish and chips but they were out of fish so I ordered chicken tenders and fries. I also ordered a 16 ounce glass of Tiger eye beer. While waiting for my food I tried the Tiger Eye beer. It tasted bad after the first sip but thought maybe if I had a few more sips maybe it really wasn't awful. I sipped away at my beer and had to stop halfway. Without doubt, it was the worst beer that I had ever tasted. Then my lunch came. The chicken fingers batter was very dark brown and looked over cooked. After I took the first bite I was right. The chicken fingers were as tough as leather. As with the beer I ate half of the chicken. I didn't complain about it to anyone. When I get a bad meal like that, I just never go back. read more

Came up here on Saturday at noon to meet up with an old buddy. This is his go to spot for drinks, so had to give the place a try. One thing I liked was the fact that they will let you sample the beer - which I did because I wasn't sure which one to get... after trying four different samples, went with OWLS. I didn't even ask if I could sample them, the server asked if I wanted to sample them to see if I liked them or not before I ordered! Friendly and helpful staff from front of the house to the back. I'm giving four stars because of friendly staff members. The bar is located in the back with main seating area, loved that we got seated right away, so that was nice. As for the foods goes - it's ok, not the greatest food, but not bad either. Had the Carne Asada fries to start out with, then ordered the fish and chips. I loved the fries, as it's freshly made as I'm told. I was disappointed with the Carne Asada fries, as I was expecting strips of sliced beef, but it was topped with ground beef. The fish and chips was decent as well, was NOT a fan of the pickle aioli, everyday tartar sauce would been perfect! We stopped in here for a late lunch and had a really nice meal! I came here with my friend who is a local and literally lives walking distance from here. She is not as adventurous an eater as I am, but I successfully convinced her to give it a try. We were able to get seated inside right away. They have a really cool atmosphere inside, and some awesome indoor/outdoor seating for whatever the weather dictates or whatever you're feeling. I loved the tables inside with the bottle-cap tops. Even though we got seated right away though, the service was extremely slow. Our lunch dragged on a lot longer than we had hoped it would. Not sure if they were understaffed, and I understand if that's the case. But this is just something to consider, maybe plan on staying a little longer than anticipated. I got the Mexican prime rib sandwich. I liked the taste of it a lot, I just thought they were a little skimpy on the meat. My coworker got the strawberry spinach salad that was on special. Great tap room with colorful mugs covering most of the walls and ceilings above the bar. Flight of five is a fun way to sample the many different styles of beer they make. If you haven't had their flagship Train Hopper IPA, don't leave it off your draft card. Deflowered is a wonderful example of the Northeast hazy IPA style. Pumpkin porter, a seasonal beer, had just enough of a hint of pumpkin to make it enjoyable and not obnoxious. Strawberry rhubarb was more sweet than sour, but not a total disappointment. Absolutely loved the cup of jalapeño corn chowder, which delivered two kinds of warmth, and regretted not ordering the bowl for $2 more. Totally worth a side trip from Ann Arbor (maybe 1 hour round trip). This place makes it a pleasure to drink local! read more

So this should be more of a 3-star review but I'm preemptively giving them 4 stars. We went here yesterday with two of my boyfriend's friends who live in South Lyon and whom frequent the Hat, as they call it. This was my first time there. The Hat was hosting drag queen bingo, and as a result, our server wasn't really available for us ... We literally had four different people bringing us things, none of whom were super reliable. (For example: no one could find our check at the end, either, so we had to list off everything we had purchased...) That being said: the food was excellent. Probably 5/5 from me - we had the special, the Reuben pickle wonton rolls, which was amazing, especially with the 1000 Island sauce, and my entree, the chicken and waffles, was also good, with a huge portion (it also came with fries). Our friends got the Mac and cheese with Nashville hot chicken and it arrived with regular chicken instead, so the restaurant brought some hot sauce for them. We ordered another round of the pickles and they brought the wrong ones (the regular pickle and cream cheese wonton rolls) but did correct it. Drinks were also very good, my favorite being "Dames and the Giant Peach," which tasted more like cider than a sour beer. You're also allowed to taste anything you want before buying, I had two stouts I tasted but didn't really like. My boyfriend bought a few beers to take home as well and the cashier asked him how our dinner was and if anything could have been better. He kind of was like, oh, it was okay... And the cashier was like, yeah, I know service could have been better tonight, sorry about that. One of the beers was $10 per can because it's a specialty of theirs, and the cashier ended up comping him one of the two cans he bought in order to make up for the service, which I thought was a nice gesture. So yes, this review would have been three stars out of five but my boyfriend's friends said that this type of service was very unusual for them, so I'm preemptively giving the Hat four stars. read more

The food and beer were good, but this is about a specific incident that just happened. We have a reactive dog that we are currently working with training. In the mean time what we do when we go out for food occasionally is leave her in the car to minimize the amount to react to. We leave her in with food and water, and start the car up to keep it conditioned for her. We were on our way back from a training course and thought it might be fun to grab some food and drink quick at Witch's Hat. While we were eating someone called the cops on us because they saw the dog in the car. I'd rather they had a conversation with us, and we could have explained the situation, but such is life. The reason that I'm writing this one star review is that someone from Witch's Hat came out and informed us that the cops had been called. We tried explaining the situation and he immediately said "I walked by the car and it wasn't running" and then kept informing us that it was a dog-friendly patio. I love that the patio is dog friendly, but our reactive dog shouldn't be out on the patio currently and was being treated well. The fact that a person that works at the establishment refused to ask questions and immediately assumed poor intention makes it so that I will never be returning to Witch's Hat in the future. All he had to do was ask a single question (similar to the people that called the police in the first place). But again, such is life, and I will be enjoying beer and food elsewhere and continuing to train and love on my dog in the ways that work best for us. read more

Food and beer were pretty good. The problem is the acoustics in the restaurant. There were three of us sitting at a corner table and we literally couldn't hear each other over everyone else basically screaming to hear themselves. We've been there a couple times and probably won't go back. The parking lot is always full so I'm sure they won't miss our business. read more

Very very pleasantly surprised by the wonderful salads here! I never expect mush from the kitchen of breweries beyond giant pretzels and burgers, and salads are an afterthought on way too many menus in general. I ordered the Blueberry Lemonade salad (large size $10) (comes with their Blueberry lemonade Gose dressing!) with blackened salmon (add $10) and it was well worth the $20! The salmon piece was large enough for lunch the next day and the salad is full of giant plump blueberries (see pic)- really good. Basically, you can enjoy a full plate of fried food and not feel awful for eating it...and it's the best around. I still stand by the fried pickle wontons as a perfect and unique appetizeer. Upon entertaining this spacious out of doors restaurant you are surrounded by large windows, large cooking area, a giant menu on the wall and spirits all around. Come make your way through the hallway and then you are dining in a open space with an amazing bar. The walls are lined with beer mugs from everywhere and anywhere. This magical moment in time just keeps going. As you walk through the open dining area more doors open to this incredible outdoor like secret garden hideaway.
