The Rumor Mill Coffee Company is actually a part of the Valley Pike Farm Market. They share the same address and same phone number, probably same ownership, but that is where the similarities end. The Rumor Mill Coffee Company is set apart with a separated area, separate from Valley Pike Farm Market, has different hours of service and being a coffee house serving what go with coffee treats, much different from Valley Pike Farm Market. The Rumor Mill Coffee Company has all sorts of coffees with many being of a type you may have never thought of before like Pumpkin Spice Latte, Carmel Apple Spice, Vanilla Chai, Red Eye, Cinnamon Dolce Latte & etc. & etc. The coffees also comes in different roasts and one of the best things about The Rumor Mill Coffee Company is its setting and beautifully done rustic lodge like décor. The place exudes a certain comfort and unrushed warmth which is perfect for having a relaxing coffee. And then too, the coffee and attentive service are tops, being far better than a Starbucks or similar type coffee house.

I had an excellent experience at The Crucible Coffee Roasters in Staunton. Everything -- from the…read moredrinks to the atmosphere -- felt thoughtful and dialed in. I ordered the El Diablo Latte, and it was phenomenal. The cayenne and ancho brought a gentle warmth, the cinnamon and vanilla rounded it out, and the chocolate and espresso tied it all together beautifully. Spiced, smooth, and perfectly balanced. I also had a V60 pour-over of their seasonal Costa Rican single origin, and it was incredibly clean and expressive. I genuinely tasted the pomegranate and hibiscus notes, with a subtle cocoa finish. Bright without being sharp -- just a really well-executed cup. The triple ginger scone was the perfect pairing with the latte -- tender inside, lightly crisp outside, and warmly spiced without overpowering. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, the space was welcoming, and the quality across the board was top-tier. My only suggestion? Stickers. I'd absolutely put one on my laptop. Highly recommend.

I asked for the bagel to be sliced, which they did and then I was not given a knife so I had to ask again for a knife to spread the cream cheese. I then waited for an extended period of time for my latte, no there was not a line a of drinks to be made. The barista gave my drink away so I asked if my drink would be ready soon and she told me that someone must have taken it, she then promptly made the latte. The bagel was cold and dry, even with the cream cheese. The latte however was moderately enjoyable. Overall, I will not be returning.

Reunion has been a breath of fresh air - really good espresso drinks, pastries, and breads. To be 100% honest, Crucible's coffee is better, but their pastry selection is minuscule and they can feel a bit stuffy. Reunion's pastries are good, though I wish they had more French-inspired things like pain au chocolat, croissants, or even soft cinnamon rolls, but I feel they excel more at the breads side of baking. I got a mini sourdough loaf once and it was excellent! Service is always friendly and happy, and the shop itself is cute, but there isn't much space inside. I'm all for tables outside, but there's not much real estate there either, especially on a busy morning. I think a small adjustment to flow could make it easily sit a couple cafe tables inside without it feeling so crowded. I just miss the days of being able to hang out and have good coffee and snacks while doing some work on a laptop. Seems like most businesses would rather have you out the door instead. I have high standards for bakeries and cafes, and Reunion meets most of them. They're now my favorite place to go in the mornings in Staunton... if they're open. I would go there much more often if I could actually eat my breakfast there instead of having to get back in my car or sit in the blistering summer heat.
