My running shoes were making my toes go numb so I knew I had to buy some new ones. After reading the yelp reviews, I decided to visit running revolutions and boy am I glad I did. Right when I walked in, i was greeted with a very warm welcome. Ken listened to my concerns. I stood on the foot analyzer and found out I actually had wide feet! I didn't know that! He had me try on some brooks ghost and had my run while he recorded me. We watched it on slow motion and he explained how my feet were while I was running. He had me try on two other shoes, but I had already fallen in love with the brooks. He was great! He explained a lot of things to me which were very helpful since I'm pretty new to running. Shout out to Ken for the excellent customer service! He was super helpful when it came to picking out the right pair. When I mean super, i mean extra mile. He took a HD cam and recorded my foot strikes right outside the store and assessed which shoe would be perfect for me. Really great attention to detail! The store in general is a decent side, but I can easily see how it can get insanely busy with typically only two employees working at a time. So I would highly suggest going during a weekday on an off hour and not prime time after 4-5pm. Weekends I'm guessing are pretty busy too. So if you're looking for a thorough assessment then be cognizant of the time you plan to visit, but if you know what you want then they have a great selection on all sorts of gear! read more

1 week before a Spartan race, I was scrambling to find an appropriate pair of shoes all over the San Jose area and online. After trying multiple stores, I finally found the running revolution on yelp. When I walked in Chris was able to help me right away. I told him I was looking for shoes for an obstacle course race and he was able to find me a great pair of shoes for an excellent price. Chris was very honest and had the best customer service I've experienced in a long time. I originally bought a half size too small and after coming home and testing out the shoes for a couple days, I decided to size up. I came in two days later and Chris exchanged the shoes no problem without any extra transactions. I highly recommend this store for any pair of running shoes. read more

I've been running more and the Nike Air Max I currently wear are not comfortable and don't have great cushioning. I went here based on reviews and recommendation from a cousin. I did some research on Road Runner with some basics about my feet and it suggested a Brooks Ghost 12. So I get to the store and the owner, Chris, has me step up to a digital scanner to get an idea of my foot shape and arch. He has a hunch of what I would feel comfortable in. Brings out one pair. But first he says let's go outside and run in your current shoes and I'll videotape you. We go outside and he starts filming and maybe not even 10 strifes in he sees enough. Go back in and grabs a few pairs. First up? Brooks Ghost 12. They feel like stepping into a pillow and my feet are so happy. He brings out a New Balance pair and then a newer Nike model and says outside and run as much as you want. He says he's pretty sure one of these will be a great fit. The Nike Miler React he brought out was a great pair but the bony part of my ankle kept hitting it, making it uncomfortable. The New Balance was good too but was more sturdy. I buy the Brooks Ghost 12. Turns out they literally were marked down later that day and Chris calls me up to issue me a credit for the difference! Now that's service. I set up an appointment for my girlfriend with Chris and he was extremely helpful. The resources they use to fit you with the proper shoe are amazing! First you stand on a device that maps out your feet and then you try a couple different shoes on the treadmill while they video you to see what kind of runner you are. On my second pair of running shoes. They do a gait analysis first to measure your weight distribution and running style to help choose the most appropriate shoe. They even take a video and analyze in slow motion to see exactly how your running technique looks like. They have a decent selection of shoes / accessories and reasonable pricing (I checked with Amazon and the pricing is really good). My visit to The Running Revolution solidified just how unapologetically shallow I am. My sister agreed to buy me new running shoes for my upcoming birthday and decided to have me fitted here after she had received excellent customer service during her last visit. We were serviced (giggety giggety!) by a strapping young dark-haired lad named Chris who not only dispensed accurate advice, but sent my poor lashes fluttering like a coked-out Scarlett O'Hara when he sauntered over to ask if we needed any help. He had me try on multiple shoes and do side-by-side comparisons while running outside. He also filmed my stride while I ran on the treadmill, but since I kept running on the balls of my feet, he ended up filming me running outdoors to have a better idea of my actual gait. In fact, he had to film me an additional time because of a camera malfunction. Essentially, he helped both my sister and me find the most perfectly comfortable bitchin' shoes for our feet and we're pleased as hell. On top of that, since their printer was broken and my sister had requested an itemized receipt, he actually wrote out each individual product complete with our respective name by each one. Ok, you know what? Eff this. I can't even write this review properly, and by "properly," I mean somewhat snarkily because I'm still far too occupied trying to quiet my trembling loins for this dude. I was so ri-goddamn-diculously transfixed by Mr. Studly McYummyBritches that I could barely tell the difference between any of the shoes I slapped on and basically picked my final pair because of the pretty colors. I'm sure that he must be fairly accustomed to getting ogled like a Twinkie at a fat camp, but I was this close to humping his leg like an oversexed Chihuahua, arch-supportive shoes or not. I run a lot between Orange Theory and running outside on the weekends so I wanted shoes that could work well for both! So I found this place on yelp! The guy working was extremely knowledgeable - used a machine to see how the bottom of my feet were shaped/where the pressure points were. She wouldn't listen to what I had to say, and basically concluded that I must buy men's shoes or else. She brought out an array of ugly brown shoes in a size 13 (I need size 12) and when I told her I'd prefer something a bit more feminine, she looked at me like I was insane. Sure I don't look like a runner (yet!) but I still deserve respect. The sales associate who helped us was very knowledgeable, and showed me many different pairs of shoes after taking a video of my feet hitting the ground, which helped determine what type of shoes would suit me best. Prices are typical. A good pair of running shoes can be pricey, but I highly recommend shopping here, for at least your very first pair of running shoes. It is no easy feat trying to fit a hippo in running shoes.... But these guys know what they are doing! I am chubz and half. I certainly pack on the "el beez" (thats "lbs" for you folks that arent down with the strizeet slang...and it's "strizeet" with a "z" bc I am closer to the streetz....zzzz!) So for me to walk my lard ass into a store devoted to running, and watching those skinny ass women and guys with thier lance armstrong like thighs and rail thing phsyiques walk in and out of the store with their fancy shoes, state of the art running sunglasses coated with fancy speed inducing UV ray deflecting goo and high speed spandex undies....well its intimidating. But the guys here are really amazing. Tim sat me down...examined my feet and even videotaped them to see how my feet were positioned when I "run" (I use the term "run" loosely) I even had a problem with my shoes and after 3 weeks of using them, I went to discuss if it was me or shoe and he offered to swap them out for something else... Awesome-o! I am now fitted with awesome shoes that dont hurt my feet so i can run all day long now without the immense weight of my gut crushing and pouding on my little snausage toes. THANKS GUYS! I ran 4 miles on Thursday and my feet were hurting. I had a feeling that it had something to do with my shoes since it's been about 5 months from last new pair. July is usually the time for me when I get new running shoes, so I made another trip here. They still had my shoe, Asics Gel Landreth, but I explained to the sales man that my left knee was somewhat sore and have been mixing up my runs on dirt and paved trails to lessen the impact. He made me walk across the room, so he can see my stride and then had me stand on the computerized pressure pad to see my foot arch. He told me that I'm wearing the right shoes and suggested another shoe for me to try on that provided more support, Asics GT-2140. With my knee soreness, I decided to get the Asics GT-2140 along with Fluid, a protein recovery drink after long runs, and a knee band to provide more stability for my left knee. As a member of San Jose Fit, I got a 20% off discount on my shoes. I saved about $20. I'm planning to come back here again in 2-3 months for a new pair! read more

I am not in-shape. In fact, I don't have a shape other than spherical. To give myself a little more shape, I have been working out like a fiend this past month. I have loved it, except one little detail...my shoes/feet. Everyday, when I am about 3/4 the way through my routine...my left foot starts to hurt. It's in a very particular spot and it hurts for the rest of the day. Maybe "hurt" is the wrong word.... aches is a better way of describing it. At first, I chalked it up to the fact that my body wasn't used to this sort of exercise. Then I did a little internet research. I discovered that I am a supinator. That means that when I am running or walking, the bulk of my weight rolls to the lateral edge (outside edge) of my foot. The shoes I currently have aren't good for supporting my foot while exercising...hence the pain. So, what do I do when I need to find someone to help me? I go a-Yelping. I Yelped running shoes and found this wonderful store near me! So, Hub and I went down there this morning to check it out. This is a Mecca for hard-core runners, and we walk in....overweight and no where near "fit". We stood around awhile and just watched the constant flow of runners and information. There was a treadmill for running so the staff could film you to see how your gait is. There was a machine that mapped out your ideal arch support...and surprisingly very few shoes. Finally, a man asks us if we have been helped...and thus began the most amazing shoe-buying experience of my life (and I love shoe shopping). First, he asked me why I wanted to buy new shoes. I explained, and he nodded. He asked several times about any injuries or pain I may have. I explained, and he nodded. Then he asked me to walk for him. He just watched my feet. After I sat down he told me he had two shoes in mind for me. The first pair he brought out were not attractive...very old-lady shoes, but they were comfortable. He explained about what kind of support my supinating feet needed and why these may work. Before I stood up, he told me how they should feel. When I walked in them, they felt like they were slipping in the heel...he showed me a "secret" runner's tie-up for the shoe laces to stop the slipping. Then he brought me out the second pair...much more attractive, but not as comfortable. The whole time he had me "go outside" and "try them out". So, I walked out of the store, ran down the sidewalk for a while. When I came back from my "test run", he asked me all sorts of questions about how they felt and did anything feel "off". He asked me about the socks I normally wear, and made suggestions (in a very non-salesmen like way). And in these economic times, I should mention the price...totally reasonable! Much better than most department stores. About 40 minutes later I walked out with the less-attractive, more-comfortable shoes and a smile on my face. It was the best shopping experience I have had since I bought my wedding dress. Really, these people are amazing. read more

In attempt to motivate myself to exercise, I joined San Jose Fit to train for a marathon. Chris from The Running Revolution gave a presentation on running shoes at one of our seminars. During his presentation, I kept eying the evil shoes I had on. The more I listened, the more convinced I was that the Mizuno Wave Rider and I were never compatible. I harbored secret disdain for them and they probably felt the same toward me yet we coexisted out of convenience. Although I was diagnosed as neutral feet at Sports Basement more than a year ago, my joints always ached after runs in these shoes designed for neutral feet. I walked into The Running Revolution at 6:20 p.m. Chris was helping three customers. He looked overwhelmed and had to close store on time at 7:00 p.m. for his wife's birthing class. One guy came in after me and another couple came back to pick up their orders. Nevertheless, he managed to juggle all of us. He took his time to help a girl with various shoes issues and patiently filmed her runs after each pair of shoes she tried on (she had wide feet, over-pronated and needed special insoles). He determined I had a low arch (though not flat footed), therefore an over-pronator. He also filmed me running in the Mizunos. The footage of my poor ankles twisting like cooked spaghetti noodles was the most painful/embarrassing/dreadful 20 seconds that I would much rather forget. Horrible, horrible. He suggested three pairs of shoes: Asics Gel (?), Saucony, and Nike Air Zoom Triax 11. The Asics were a world of difference compared to the Mizunos. I liked them immediately but felt a bit of reservation. They didn't feel completely right. Saucony shoes made me supinate due to over-correction of pronation. The moment I tried on Nikes, I knew. The birds were chirping, the sun got brighter, the world was all together a better place. We were meant to be together. They were so comfortable. Running in them was like running on thick, plush mattress yet they were so light. As Chris put the Nikes in the box for purchase, I took a glance at my old shoes and found the thought of wearing them again unbearable. I ended up wearing the Nikes home. Best money I ever spent. To sweeten the deal, San Jose Fit members get a 15% (?) discount on all of the merchandise at The Running Revolution. Thanks Chris, for taking your time to help your customers! I'm sorry that you missed your class. If it's any consolation, you've earned a loyal customer. Things I learned from this experience: 1. There really is a moment of "AHHH" when you try on the perfect running shoes! 2. If your shoes feel uncomfortable in any way, don't run in them. Your body knows better than you. 3. Always buy a size larger, I ended up with size 7.5 shoes when my street shoes are 6.5. 4. Watch yourself run in slow motion is a traumatic yet enlightening experience. A must do for newbies like me. 5. Shoes good for someone else may not be good for you. Some shoes may not look the best but if they fit the best, get them. Honestly, I didn't think I'd end up with Nikes due to the social/ethical issues associated with the company but they felt right on my feet and I had to listen to my body. read more

Been to this place twice now and it seems to only get increasingly fab. Both visits were on a Saturday, and while the shop was very busy, the staff (some of which are typically one or two of the owners) was very attentive and helpful. The first time I needed to find a better pair of shoes than the one I was using for walking and running. Did the whole eval on the treaddie thing with the video. Tried on a few shoes they brought out for me. Chose one. Got 10% off new customer discount. Done. The second visit I brought along a friend who needed to also be fitted. I got the next up version of the shoes that worked so well for me the last 6 months, and also some hiking shoes which I never really wore unfortunately...they do make a very rugged looking closet adornment though. The awesome thing was that the owner spent 45 minutes with my friend helping her figure out what she needed, did the treaddie walk/video, brought out countless shoes for her...and sat with us dispensing advise as she hemmed and hawed up until purchase. She loves her shoes, I still love my shoes, and I'll be going back again in another 6 months to get a new pair. This is where I recommend people come if they are all for an expert telling what they should be wearing for what type of exercise and are willing to listen. I always get so overwhelmed by all the options out there, it was refreshing to work with someone who actually knew what I needed to be wearing rather than me going 'oh that's a cute orange shoe, I'll try it'. Price wise, they are not any more expensive than any other B&M...not sure if they are still doing the 10% off new customer thang but I'd ask, it's worth it for a $100 pair of shoes. read more

I get new running shoes once a year, the last time I came here was in 2012. 2013 I went to the Runner's Factory in Los Gatos because of a Groupon. After my most recent fitting with Steven this year I realized I should have never went anywhere else. I was experiencing serve pain from the Brook's Beast I was fitted with at Runner's Factory. I only spent a couple of minutes with Steven and he already knew which shoes were the best for me. After taking them for a test run this week I completely agree with his recommendation. Running Revolution gives me the up most confidence that all the employees are avid athletes themselves and care about their customer's needs. More importantly they actually know what they're doing and not just trying to make a sale. The extra penny at Running Revolution is worth not risking my foot's health over a $20 Groupon. I got my exact foot type assessed, analyzed and evaluated. Within minutes, they brought out the running shoe that fits my needs in ASICS, Brooks, and Saucony. After choosing the one that felt the best, my feet were videotaped as I ran on the treadmill in the store. He then played it back in slow-mo to show the way the "right shoe" will provide the stability/motion control you need. In essence, an A++ for professional and knowledgeable service coupled with great attention to detail. This place wants you walking out of their store with the shoe that's best for you and your game. I've always heard about running shoe stores, but never wanted to go to one simply because I did not want to be obligated to buy anything. Fast forward some time, I ended up with a foot energy and doomed for rest. It was driving me Bat Sh** Crazy being idle so I finally went to the store. Even had my money ready just in case I needed to buy new shoes. The guy that was working listened to what my concerns were and asked if it was okay to record me running a bit. We stepped right outside and I ran about 20 ft and we played the recording. What impressed me was that he did not try to sell me anything in the store, even told me that my shoes were fine and that I should try working on my gait. If you're a beginner runner, please check out Running Revolution to pick out a pair of quality shoes that will help make you run more efficiently. Don't be like me and buy multiple pairs of cute trendy Nikes online, then develop blisters and shin splints, and then have to replace the shoe after less than only 100 miles because the cushion/foam wore out too fast. The shoe selection here is very limited, they don't carry all the colorways of every style. Everything is also full priced. But what you're paying for is the customer service and piece of mind. They looked at my gait and determined that I needed a neutral shoe (No wonder my Nike Lunarglides were hurting my feet! Lunarglides are for those who overpronate and need stability.) The girl who helped me realized that I liked the Lunarglides due to the cushioning, but that I needed a neutral shoe, so she recommend I try on 3-4 different shoes within that category with lots of cushion support. They allow you to try them on and take them for a spin outside in the plaza. You will not realize that there are better shoes out there until you come here and are fitted for the perfect shoe! They also have a great return/exchange policy in the case that the shoes didn't work out as you expected. read more

Great place! Has always been helpful when I've need shoes for running (or my aspirations of running) and my annual participation in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. And they give a discount when you participate in said event. They do all of the fancy tests, treadmill monitoring, etc, to determine the right shoe for you. I finally had to break down and buy new workout shoes. I could feel mine weren't as cushy as they once were, and my feet were starting to hurt. Since I spend over an hour in them daily, I decided I'd actually go in and get fitted, and find out what shoe was best for me. The people working there were really helpful, and didn't just suggest the most expensive shoes. The man who waited on me videotaped me running to see how my feet looked, and where the pressure on them was. I'd never had this done, and it was kind of interesting. I definitely spent more than I ever have on shoes, but I've never had the service they give either. When I started w/ Team in Training in May...I had random daydreams of purchasing my new running kicks on nike.com, customized w/ my name, or "princess," or both. OK. I kinda lied...I actually found some air max's, customized them, and put them on 'save' awaiting an ok from my coach...which never came...instead I heard a talk from Mr. Running Revolution...errr...and I didn't think they would inscribe my name on my shoe...nor would it match my race day outfit...but I sure did learn A LOT. (I am obviously NOT an athlete...this is my first event. EVER.) Anyways, that afternoon when I visited, I was surprised about how much time they spend on you. You step on a mood ring-like welcome mat, then they video take you walking. I had a LOW arch AND I roll my ankles. Wow. I already knew.....this was a very different shoe shopping experience for me! I didn't walk up to the wall, pick colors and style, then ask for a size 6...THEY handed me a shoe and said "this should work." My first thought? (maybe I AM a lil shallow) "Does it come in black?" (though I didn't voice it)...and my second thought? "Crap, its the same shoe they picked for Gina. We're gonna match!" However, being the novice I am, I trusted their expertise and have gotten over the fact that my shoe isn't the style I wanted or doesn't say "Princess" on it....instead I am very, very grateful that their chosen shoe has worked well for me all season! So, I typed in "running shoes" in Yelp south bay and this was the place that came up. It's almost too easy. You'll find Tim here to be very helpful. I explained to him that running and I did not get along much (he was understanding). So he had me stand on this device that took fancy images of my footprints. Damn, my feet are even pretty in Technicolor 2D. From the images, we determined that I was in fact not meant to run at all, but rather to have other, smaller, people run in my name! Kidding. I came here based on the recommendation of one of my triathlete buddies about 2 years ago when I was suffering hard core from IT band syndrome. (Note to all readers who are novice runners: If you're suffering from shooting pains in your legs, the best course of action is NOT to continue running thinking it'll get better.) I brought in the pair of shoes that I normally went running in (which had been highly recommended to me by Road Runner Sports) and they did a gait analysis on the tread mill. After examining my gait on video (they record your running patterns on the tread mill), the person helping me informed me that my shoes were all wrong. They brought out several pairs of shoes that would fit my running style and took the time to help evaluate my gait with each pair. In the end, I found the perfect pair of running shoes and have been able to increase my mileage exponentially since. I highly recommend this place if you're having running nuances related to some type of running injury and want to find a better shoe to fit your anatomy. In addition, I highly recommend that you rest for a week or two before you continue running again. But also be prepared to wait a little bit before you get helped since each person takes extra time with each customer. I wouldn't worry though, the wait can be worth it if you're a n00b. read more

I needed a new pair of running shoes after having gone too long with shoddy, generic ones and decided to visit TRR based on the rave review I saw here. What I got at this modest-sized establishment was awesome, first-rate service. Of course they did all the things a good running shoe store should do -- they videotaped me running on a treadmill and examined the way my feet landed (I tend to "supinate"); took careful note of eccentricities in my foot shape (high arches); asked lots of questions about my running habits and goals; had me try, based on their examination and my feedback, several different pairs of shoes -- but just as important, they did a bunch of little things that made the experience feel like an exceptionally friendly one. For instance, they stayed open *well* past closing for me without trying to speed up or rush the process one bit. They answered my every question (and I tend to ask a lot!) with utmost patience and seemed genuinely to want that I get the most out of my purchase. (Did you know that a good pair of running shoes has about 400 miles of life in them? Or that, because your feet swell during a run, you should buy your running shoes at least a half size above your dress shoe size?) Best of all, when I told them I was referred to the store by a reviewer on Yelp, they gave me a 10% discount! I know I'll be visiting this terrific store again once the 400 miles on my new shoes are up. read more

I came here on the recommendation of my massage therapist. This place rocks. The people here are all clearly runners that love running and want to help you love running too. They videotaped me, they let me run with the shoes on their treadmill and try them out on the sidewalk. They just plain rock. The service was nice and not pushy at all. If you're a runner or an aspiring runner, go to a running store. I'd say this one, but just go to a running store somewhere. Don't just buy shoes at a generic sports store or discount store. Get people to watch how you run, suggest shoes, and troubleshoot your running problems. You will be much better off for it. You'll run better, suffer from fewer injuries, and be happier. My first pair of shoes caused me some issues. I came back a few weeks later and they exchanged them to another pair at no cost. Rock stars. Seriously, great place. They helped me troubleshoot my issues, videotaped me again, had me run on the treadmill. I'm pretty sure I'd go here before heading to the doctor or podiatrist. read more

I came in on a weekend and it was indeed busy. I was excited to pick up my second pair of running shoes. My first pair was bought over 2 years ago here and I had a positive experience. I came back expecting the same top notch customer service I had received then. Unfortunately, things did not turn out that way. Again, I understood it was a bit busy, but it was like I never existed. I walked in and made eye contact with a representative and stood in some kind of line. The person in front of me was seen next and when it was my turn, the person I had eye contact with, went with someone else (that person came in right after me). I gave her the benefit of the doubt; maybe he was in before me, but left to grab something in the car and came back. Then another person came (definitely new because I was in line for over 15 mins now) and sure enough she was helped before me. Then I thought maybe I need to speak up so I did and was told to wait. Twenty five minutes later I decided to walk out of the store. I ended up driving down the road to Road Runner a few blocks away (877 E. Hamilton Avenue, Campbell, CA 95008). It was busy too, but I was helped in less that 5 minutes. I suggest trying out both places... not for the products because they are similar, instead compare the customer service. I went to The Running Revolution yesterday (Sunday) afternoon. My boyfriend wanted to find some running shoes. Tim was very helpful and listened to what we were looking for. He checked the weight distribution on his feet using a machine and watched the way my boyfriend ran on a treadmill. He played the video back and we were able to see where he needed more support in a new shoe. My boyfriend was able to find a new pair of running shoes he loves and I was able to find some inserts for my shoes. If for any reason he isn't happy with his shoes, Tim told us that he could return them and find the pair that works better (the same went for my inserts). We left very satisfied. I only wish that I came here instead of Runner's High before my relay race last weekend. I would definitely recommend coming here for any running needs. read more
