Did not try on but purchased. After a few days, my afflicted foot was swollen and painful. I checked the size and it was 7. Not the 7.5 he said he brought me. I tried returning to the store to get my original 7.5 requested size but refused. Because I didn't have the box. There was no information provided about return policy ; especially needing the box when purchasing the 150.00 pair of Brooks. And my foot is hurting due to mistake of salesman. He remembered I was a 7.5 but still refused to do the right thing This store should be held accountable read more

I came in search of nice running shoes since I've been running longer distances and my Adidas were not cutting it anymore. My fiancé and I worked with Rachel to have our gait analyzed. Her eyes are so experienced because she immediately identified our walking pattern and which areas of the feet we tended to lean on. She recommended stability shoes for both of us and we both walked out of the store with the most comfortable ASICS we've ever worn. I recently went to my doctor for some leg pain that I was experiencing during walking/running, and she asked how long I had my running shoes. I sheepishly said I'd had them since 2019 and she told me that running shoes are only good for 300 miles! Oops... Back in 2019, my friend recommended Athletic Treads and I had a great experience. Because of that, I decided to go back. The experience was as good as I remember it! It was empty when I walked in upon the store's opening on Monday, and Xavier, once he finished his phone call, assisted me. He started me off with a number of shoes to try first and then listened to my feedback and got me more to try. I personally found, based on my pain during exercise, that I preferred a little strong support in certain parts of my foot and he was able to suggest different pairs. I narrowed it down to two pairs and use their treadmill to see how they felt, and ended up with a pair of Hokas (about $150). Really happy with my experience here and would definitely recommend it! Turns out they actually recommend changing running shoes every 6 months if you exercise frequently, unless you switch it up with different pairs. It was not in my budget to get two sets but when needed, I'll definitely come back here! read more

I came in with recommendations from my podiatrist and Ben knew exactly what I needed. We picked out a few pairs of shoes and found a pair that would work with my issues. Throw in a pair of superfeet and we found a winner in a pair of New Balance. My podiatrist also told me not to go barefoot anymore so I tried on a few pair of Birkenstock and liked the way they made my poor tired painful feet feel. So I made my choice of color and style and checked out. Had a 15% off from my podiatrist. Not gonna lie it's a lil pricey but worth it if it helps me not have anymore pain! I went in today to explore options for nagging foot pain (for about 10 days). Lisa helped me out. She asked a lot of questions (related to activities I do, to stretching pre and post activity ) to help diagnose the problem. She had brought out several shoes and also recommend a couple. She watched how I walked in my current shoes, barefoot and with some of the shoes for sale. She explored different ways to lace the shoes to see if it would help to alleviate the pain and/or eliminate it. She even had me try on a specific sock and finally taped my foot with Rock Tape. I ended up spending 30 to 45 minutes in there before going home with a pair that I like. Lisa was definitely helpful and did not try to push one shoe over another, but had great recommendations. If a shoe was not in stock, she said she could special order it or get in a color that I liked. I was extremely happy with the customer service, her time, expertise and the genuine care that she wanted to see how I could improve the current state of my foot pain. read more

Went in yesterday trying to find new shoes for my son who runs cross country. His shoes were toast - like he was running on bald tires. They compliment each other well - with different types of running experiences and preferences. Jacob would sometimes refer to Andres regarding his past cross country team experience. 'yeah, they're all good.') *somehow managed to find a great shoe with this communication through expertise, experience, their treadmill and knowing the brands. *gave us a variety to choose from and told us why he chose each I bought 2 socks for no other reason than I was pleased with the service because my son said of the socks "Yeah, they feel good. Went to a couple of different stores looking for help with picking new shoes for my partner. Of the stores, this one was definitely the most helpful for us first-time specialty shoe store purchasers. I wish I got the associates name, but he was great! A family member found this quaint shoe store in Willow Glen after we moved back to the area. I heard nothing but rave reviews about the excellent service and quality of athletic shoes. I'll admit, I was a skeptic. They're high end athletic shoes that should be replaced every 8-9 months. Okay, so. Fast forward to last week when bothersome shin splints led me to seek out a physical therapist. Start with replacing your old running shoes with some new, top-quality kicks, she says. (And don't forget to stretch, too!) Michael was extremely patient and fitted me properly with three options based upon my feet, gait, etc. I chose the Hoka One One Gaviota 3. So far, so good, as the pain is 100% gone! No more excuses. It's safe to say I'm now a believer. Outstanding product with even better service! I was in desperate need of new running shoes with my Nike Pegasus being completely worn down. I wanted to try something new, and I thought going to Athletic Treads would reassure me that I was purchasing the best running shoe for my needs. And I was right! First and foremost, I was assisted by Lisa, and she was impeccable. She asked all the right questions to get a sense of the type of shoe that would best suit me based on my running style. I had knee surgery on my left knee, which means most times, I pause or stop running because of knee pain. Lisa used this information to find me a pair of shoes to help alleviate some of my knee pain due to running. Lisa observed how I walked and watched me run on the treadmill to sense how my foot struck the ground. With a treadmill in-store, it allowed me to get a real sense of how the shoe feels and Lisa more information to suggest different running shoes. Lisa was patient and walked me through the pros and cons of each shoe. Lisa was very detailed, which I appreciated. I left with a pair of Asics GT 2000 9, which I am thrilled to have. I like how the sales person knows her products. She saw how I run, as I ran on the treadmill. She saw how my foot lands and looked at how my current shoe was worn on the sole. She learned I have wide feet. I told her (she asked a lot of important questions like what do I plan to do in the new shoes) I have arthritis in my right knee and can only run on trails or dirt paths. I run 3K's. She had me try on Hoka, which I've never had and I was very pleased. She gave me a second pair of Hoka, but they looked too wide and made my already wide feet look twice as wide. I told her I didn't care for them. I told her I wanted black running shoes. I ended up with black Hoka that weren't the extra wide ones and I love them! read more

The new owners don't care about their customers. I purchased a new pair of Hoka's, within a week and a half of buying them I was putting them on and the bootstrap on the right shoe came off of one attachment point. I went to the store thinking this was an easy thing to resolve. They told me that the only thing they could do for me was to have me buy a new pair of shoes at a discounted rate. My shoes were just over a week old and they wouldn't do a thing for me. Had I brought these directly from Hoka they offer a 30 day guarantee where they will replace them or refund your money with no questions asked. After having a meniscus tear I was looking for oofos sports sandals and I was pleasantly surprised to find this store on yelp. It's walkable distance to home so I was further thrilled. I got a pair of oofos and had plenty of options to choose from. They also carried goodr shades which I was drawn to as I have an upcoming vacation and tend to loose sunglasses. I have been going to Athletic Treads (Athletic Performance) for many, many years while Lisa owned it. It was the best customer service around and worth the drive to Willow Glen. Since the new owner took over, it has been the worst customer service I have experienced. I met the owner soon after he bought it, and he seemed nice enough. But his manager is rude and not helpful at all. I have been back a few times and finally decided not to shop there due to rude customer service. Unfortunately, I was given a $50 gift card and had to go back. I bought a pair of Hoka shoes in an 8.5. I had just bought the same pair from another wonderful store in LG, so I did not wear the new pair for a few months. When I tried them on, I realized the manager had sold me an 8.5 wide. I tried to exchange the unworn, never-used shoes today and was met with the rudest response. First, the manager tried to tell me he could not sell them as new because I had worn them. After he realized that was not true, he tried to tell me he couldn't return them. I told him I just wanted to exchange them for the correct size since he sold me a wide. After a lot of attitude, he finally said fine, he would. We got to the counter, and he said the system would not let him since it was past 30 days. I asked for the manager, and with a very smug face, he said he was the manager and he couldn't help me. I asked for the owner's contact info, and he said he is unavailable. After several times asking for it he finally said he could take my contact info and give it to him. Needless to say I was not very happy. He had sold me the wrong shoe and would not exchange it for the correct size. I am guessing he threw my number away as soon as I left!! I will not recommend Athletic Treads to anyone! The manager is the worst. I hope the owner reads this and makes it right. read more

After weeks of being stubborn, I finally bit the bullet and began my hunt for new running shoes. After a quick Yelp search, I found that there weren't too many speciality stores near me but thankfully Athletic Treads was an option. I came by midweek to get some help choosing new shoes and Deb was awesome. She watched my walk, my stride, and gave me plenty of options. I didn't feel rushed to make a decision and Deb was very patient while I tried on all of the shoes. It probably helped that I came on a weekday during lunch so it wasn't busy at all! After making sure I was comfortable w my choice, I paid and the shoes were fairly priced. The 20% Yelp discount is a godsend too :) There is a no return policy once worn outside but it's understandable since they are a small mom and pop shop. Just something that's good to know! It also helps to bring your current shoes in so they could check out that tread. All in all, AT is a great place for beginner runners to get some much needed help in choosing new shoes and I'll be back for my next pair in a few months. Came in looking for a new pair of running shoes and had a very pleasant assistant by the name of Beck help me out. I was looking at Asics and Altra's and he was quick to come out with the size and shoe. Which has probably been some of the quickest and efficient service I've had while buying shoes. I even got to test them out on the treadmill in store. Ended up with the pair Beck reccommended as he kept in mind I liked structure for the shoe fit. Stopped into this establishment about a week ago to get some running socks because I like the extra cushioning and comfort of running socks. When I asked one of the workers for socks he directed me to a bin near the register that contained 3-packs of socks. Unfortunately I was having trouble finding any packs of socks in size large. The gentleman and another older woman helped me look through the bin and they cobbled together a 3-pack by taking socks out of other packs. Unfortunately when I got home and tried the socks on, 2 of them were "Ultra light" type which have very little padding. I returned to the store today to try and return or exchange them and the same older woman that originally helped me, (apparently the owner), informed me that the 3-packs were a sale item and were not able to be returned. I asked her about exchanging the 2 Ultra light pairs for some regular socks and she was willing to do that but the only colors she had were bright blue, bright red and fluorescent yellow. Colors that I was not really interested in. I asked the owner about exchanging the socks for some of the plain white ones she had on the wall. She told me I would have to pay full price for the plain socks, ($11 a pair). 2 pairs of regular priced socks would cost about the same as the 3 that I had bought. I was OK with exchanging the 3 pack I bought for the 2 regular socks but the owner was unwilling to do this. The customer service at this store is awful. First off I was not told that the 3-packs of socks were non-returnable. Also, why wasn't the owner willing to exchange 3 pairs of socks for 2? How was I supposed to know that the socks I originally bought were left-over crappy socks in crappy colors that the owner was just trying to get rid of? I definitely won't be coming back here. Apparently this business is in the process of moving about 3 doors down to 1141 Lincoln Avenue. I hope that my review gets transferred to this new address. read more

This store changed management awhile ago but I thought I would give it a try as the old management had been so great. Definitely a mistake. This management is terrible. I spent over $150 on a pair of shoes and the tread started to peel after less than a month of use. Manager would not allow me to exchange or return them as by the time I could bring them in to the shop, I was 3 days over their return policy. I explained I had only worn them for 3 weeks and that I was a long term customer, but he would not budge. Very very disappointing. I wanted to support a local business, but am sorry I tried. Lisa was amazing! She took her time to help me find the right running shoes. First, she measured each individual foot and then she had me walk up and down to check my walking gait. Based on my walk, she quickly noted that I have a pronated gait, which is correct. Then, she picked out a few shoes and had me try them on walking and then got me on the treadmill too see how I feel running in them. She noted so many details that would otherwise be overlooked at some commercial store. Because of her attention to detail, she found the right shoes and inserts for my specific feet. She even kindly gave me advice and tips on running when I asked her since I'm new to running. I'm so excited to run in them! Also, the store vibe is great.
