We were curious about this spot as we came into Rio Medina to stay at an AirBNB on the river. My gf and I looked it up and the pics of the brisket skillet queso and portabello burger were enough to get us to plan a stop on our way back home. At first I wondered if people thought we were someone else because EVERYONE was so damn friendly. They had A Cowboys game on, and a Fifa WCQ between Spain and Sweden on inside. But we sat outside because it's a badass patio that ALLOWS DOGS ! It was busy but got our drinks quickly (best Micheladas we've ever had. The waitress was from The Valley and has some secret recipe) and put in an order of Brisket Skillet Queso, Fish Tacos and The Portabello Mushroom burger. WOW best food ever. Daniel, the owner, came and hung out with us and told us how he does the burgers. This dude's recipe is alllll TLC. So much goes into them! He really loves this place and everyone who stops by. The Rusty Nail - Bars Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

Very disappointed in recent experience. we have been there before and they were out of beer, out of the food we ordered and under staffed. We went back to find they have tried to go more high end. This includes a "dress code" after 7. With over priced drinks and underwhelming food and service, this is not a welcome addition. Trying to be something that they are not in this area and alienating any customers that tried to stick with them. The mixed ambiance is not appealing as they try to decide what type of bar they want to be. read more

Very fun, drinks were good. A group of 4 of us got seated right away and waitress was very attentive!

It's a good neighborhood bar and the owner is very friendly. The bar offers decent food and they have karaoke some nights.

The place has great food, great whiskey, and a great atmosphere. They could add a waiter/waitress or two to the team because service can be a bit slow during peak hours. Also those bar stools in the back of the restaurant are awkwardly placed and are too close to the tables. read more

Met up with friends a few times here for happy hour. We all live nearby so it a bonus! it can get busy so arrive early for seating. Happy hour food is delicious. The burger is surprisingly delicious. They charge extra for the ball ice in your old fashion which I thought was weird. Never heard of a bar charging for it before so I was taken aback. Hack is to order it with regular ice if you don't wanna pay extra. read more

My 3-star rating is for food, drinks and service. The service was slow... very slow. There was one bartender and she waited on everyone including those in the back patio. This place needs to hire more help. The food was pretty good, but way overpriced. $13.99 for each appetizer (one serving). We ordered the Brussels sprouts and sweet potato fries. And we ordered lime margaritas on the rocks, which tasted good but very, very small and way too much ice! Each margarita was $12!!! We couldn't believe our bill.... Over $100! We had six margaritas and two appetizers... taco cabana serves better drinks and puts alcohol in their margaritas. The best part about this place is the outside back patio. We might go back to visit, but probably will only get a drink or two. read more

I really liked the setup, food and drinks and that is the reason why I am giving The Rusty Nails two stars. This place was recommended by a friend and I wanted to try it out. Now, if you are looking for good service as an educated corporate black woman who is looking for a low key place to relax your overworked mind on a Monday evening this is not the place. I watched for 30 minutes as the two Hispanic women bartenders approached several different tables and completely ignored the table I was sitting at with another educated black corporate woman. We literally had to called one of them over just to get a to go box and our check. We mentioned that we were sitting and waiting and mentioned how we didn't want to feel like we were being ignored as we were the "only" ones in there and we just received a snarky "okay" as she walked off. Great atmosphere and a bonus that it's nearby my neighborhood. The owner truly cares about his customers and continues to go above and beyond to make sure everyone is satisfied with their service. The bar is small, it has an outdoor patio that makes up for the space being small though. The only thing I wish the patio had is a roof for shade for the sunny days etc... not really a big deal though. This place has a friendly staff which makes it likable. Love being able to chill here. Great service. Good drinks at fair prices. There are board games , arcade games and tvs. I enjoyed visiting this place overall.

Really loved this bar for a very long time but service has consistently declined each time we visit. 4 employees behind the bar and they were more concerned about socializing with each other than waiting on customers. 2 different tables walked in waited at least 10 minutes for service and walked back out. We would not have gotten service had we not gone up to the bar itself to order. Really hope that management does something to fix this issue. read more

I went for lunch and was kind of skeptical. But this place did not disappoint. I don't know how their food is so good but they take basic foods like fried pickles and make them way better. They have chicken on a stick with a Thai chili sauce and it is so good! And their portions are pretty big. I can't wait to come back. read more

This was a cool place until a simple complaint about service went sideways. Apparently the management doesn't take criticism very well. They take the message and twist it to their advantage then publicly bash the people as if they were wrong for pointing out the obvious. The fact of the matter is service is important regardless. A simple "I'll be right with you" can fix anything. That's obviously not what's trained at that place. As a customer we understand being busy but when there's zero acknowledgment that would turn anyone off. Especially when it really wasn't that hectic sitting at the bar. Short staffed , I get it but there's still has to be some kind of courtesy. Working in a potential high speed environment takes talent and it can be an adjustment. But don't take a simple slap about service and publicly humiliate or attempt to because you can't accept that stuff like that happens. Shame on ownership and management for allowing such a small thing to escalate the way it did. A simple "sorry for the inconvenience" would had been great but it shows how unprofessional they are there. I use to love going to the rusty nail and although missing my business won't effect them. I will never go back or refer this place to anyone anymore. read more

Being my first time going I was expecting a whole different experience! The inside was a typical bar with bright floors and a few extra decorative lamps. I approached the bar to find the owner who greeted me after his conversation with another customer/friend. Needless to say it was not extremely busy but he felt he needed to continue his conversation so he stopped pouring my drink to continue. Poor customer service! This is your amazing local bar and grill. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff are super friendly. The owner Daniel is down to earth and is there talking to customers all the time. This place is great for date night, or to have some afternoon fun. The music is low key so you can actually talk and carry on a conversation, and to make the place even better they serve food.
