I love this place! I have two favorites. Maria Mendoza: Great curly hair stylist. Really knows her stuff and got my hair back to what I wanted after several others had made it too blonde. Leslie Gong aka The Little Estie: She's really amazing at holistic facials and my fave always feels so much better after I'm done. Went here to have my wife's hair done for her birthday, we had our infant son with us and they were not kid friendly and they were very rude one lady there was nice and put Ms Rachel on the TV for him but the owner and other hair stylist were being rude and talking loudly so the baby couldn't hear the Tv... It's high end and very snooty we felt judged and uncomfortable. Would not go here again and we were overcharged. They had nice couches though. read more

All of my haircuts there have been fine except for the last one. It will be my last visit at the Salon Avenue. The cut was not quite what I had asked for which was fine until I got home and realized I couldn't style my hair without it going crazy. I've had this cut before many times so there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to figure out how to style it. I'm taking prenatal vitamins and using special shampoo in hopes my hair will grow fast. read more

Great location. The Salon is classy, clean and the vibe is on the higher end. I was greeted right when I walked in. It's a great salon to get pampered because it's a full service spa. I got my lashes done with Sylvia and my nails and pedicure with Ruby. Ruby has a private room and the ambience is phenomenal, welcoming, & soothing. She closed the door for privacy, the mood was set right. Especially when having a long day. The music was something different but soothing low and helped me unwind. She offered a glass of wine and snack while I sat back and relaxed. The Stress Relief Pedicure is my favorite from the essential oils, and the message. When I say message I am not selling it short. Everyone at the salon has been been welcoming and friendly since day one. I highly recommend my hairstylist, Ashleigh. Sorry bye click... No offer of another stylist who does equal quality work. No offer to take a possible cancellation or be put on a list should she have a client move etc.... I was in town visiting family and wanted to get a new look before going back home. I've had some pretty bad experiences having my hair done in the past (my hair is very thick, very dark, super curly/frizzy, chemically straightened and growing out a east coast half shave). I prayed for luck, gave The Salon Avenue a call and was scheduled with Rebakah. I tried to explain my situation, but seriously doubt this poor girl had any idea of what she was getting herself into! The process took two days and Rebakah did her magic! My hair looks great, she's hilarious and an amazing person to talk to. First off, let me tell you something- I've been to many salons in Los Angeles and Orange County, and by FAR- The Salon Avenue is the best and can compete with the big boys and girls. So hats off to the ownership and overall operation. Though, for the first time or so, it is a bit off the beaten path, it is worth your time and trying out their services. Again, we love to support local business and people. The salon is gorgeous. The coffee, tea, and water station so cute. Warm and cozy fireplace area, mirrors, area rugs, extensive line of the awesome Jane Iredale cosmetics, the amazing skincare line of, Eminence, spacious hair area, and friendly service. Oh and good mints on the front counter. Remember- the little things go a long way! I've seen Denise twice now for my hair and love it! After finding on her via yelp, I was determined to give her a try and so glad I did. She does great work and listens to what I asked and want. I look forward to my next haircut in a few months. Also, Cynthia does an awesome facial. She is gentle, takes her time, and is honest and knowledgeable about the product line and suggesting products to fit the individual need(s). I am completely satisfied with the services I was provided with! Nina, the owner was above and beyond. Her receptionist scheduled me after hours on accident and she still was peppy and vibrant throughout my cut. I only came in for a trim and to give my hair shape with layers and she was so attentive to my hair and did not hack it off like some salons had in the past. My sister-in-law was with me and she wants to become a stylist as well and she gave her so much advice as well! I had also gotten a facial from Cynthia. She was awesome too very attentive as well. I love Denise! I looked at everyone's reviews and decided to go to her! I called her today, and she was able to get me in today, I was so excited. I was especially eager, after seeing the photos posted, she looks like she does very well! I got there and it was the nicest salon I've seen in a while. To top it off, they have a taco truck outside of it, with amazing tacos! The people working there were soooo nice! I was early so stopped there first. I then went inside, and the salon was beautiful. They offered me water and coffee! They even have a little espresso shop too, it was so neat. It gets better... Besides being so pretty, they had a great selection for products! They also have some great services, including tanning beds (which were affordable and nice) and spray tanning! They also offer pedicures! As I'm waiting for Denise, the coffee table has GREAT and new magazines, I was very occupied while waiting. When she met me, she was very kind and sweet. She listened to me while I told her my horrible story about my hair. I was going from dark brown to lighter, so I wanted highlights that weren't orange. I trusted her from the photos, and her kindness was reassuring. She did exactly as expected, my hair looks great! She also was very fun to talk to. Time flew. She styled my hair and showed me a few tricks and also told me about some tips and products to try. She didn't even try to up-sale me. After receiving a partial highlight (which was pretty much my whole head), toner, and style it was unbelievably more affordable than expected, so I left her a $20 tip! Denise is very talented and truly has a gift. She is very personable and a joy to talk with. The salon itself is nestled along 198 and I would have never guessed anything was there. It is a definite find! A modern tone with clean lines. Once inside an air of relaxation and calmness is surrounded by an array of services ready to pamper you. Can anyone recommend a hair and nail place around Visalia? Where people are actually friendly? I'll drive a 50 mile radius if need be. wish I had more to base my review off of, but here is my review for the Salon Ave. I called to make an appt since it's right down the street from my house I wanted to check it out. Maybe do something with my crazy mop. When I called the girl that answered sounded jaded, like she couldn't be bothered to even breath. She took my number and said I would get a call back with availability. 24 hrs passed no call back, so I called again. Same girl answered. I explained I never got a call back. She promised someone would get back to me and hung up. I am still waiting on that call. Good thing I didn't hold my breath. I couldn't help but notice a majority of the "satisfied" customers here are Caucasian. Maybe my having a Hispanic name had something to do with me not getting a call back. Twice!!! I've lived in Visalia for 1 year and from what I've experienced here, I wouldn't doubt it. read more

I hired a makeup artist and hair stylist for my wedding from here. I was super happy and super excited after I had my makeup trial and hair trail. They did an amazing job with the trail as they had took their time to do the job. Well the morning of wedding day I got my hair done and I loved it. Not even 1 hour later my hair was falling apart even before I had gotten to my church ceremony and my bridesmaids were literally taking bobby pins off their hair to put in mine. The makeup artist took way too long doing other people's makeup that she rushed my makeup. My eyeliner was so uneven and I even had to ask to be sprayed with setting spray...I didn't even have time to have one of my girls fix it because she had already made me last to my church ceremony.
