It's been so many years since I've left a review here but happy I could come back and update my experience. I stumbled in here for lunch today, as I love the bartender Rebecca who works here! She's a great cocktail mixologist and is always super friendly and bubbly. The staff here are really great though... Today both Rebecca and Brenda helped me and the service was a 10 out of 10! Everyone is so friendly and attentive. Also, I was super impressed with the back kitchen as they were cranking out dishes, which is what you want when you're having a "quick on the go lunch". I really love how they've decorated this bar/restaurant. It's fun but cozy, definitely they have great creativity with making the space as it's unique and done just right. I love the neon signs, the comfortable lounge chairs/sofas and the rugs. Makes for a great spot to stay a while. Cocktails were solid and they have an impressive selection of Whiskey is here. I'm keeping that in mind the next time I come for cocktails downtown. The food though was a home run and far exceeded my expectation. I started with the onion rings that were perfectly fried and super fresh/crispy. I love that the onion rings were paired with both a ranch and a chipotle sauce. I'm a sauce girl so if you give me multiple sauces, I'm happy. No joke, but I also just had the best Caesar salad I found in the county yet here! Kudos to the bartender Rebecca for suggesting it when I was debating between different dishes... I trusted her judgment when she told me it's one of her favorites and it turned out to be my favorite dishes too! The Caesar salad was perfectly dressed and had a great amount of cheese and croutons. Honestly, this is my dream salad lol. I'd highly recommend you order this when you come here because I can't stop thinking about it... I know it's just a salad and it's a relatively simple salad when you think about it, but it's done so incredibly well here. We decided to walk up main and stopped in the Saloon for a more traditional style of mixed drinks and ended up trying their special menu! I had the Army Navy made with Vodka it was a mix with orange and pineapple the fruitiness was a delicate mix. The setting is a bit dark but it was reminiscent of a disco but today's music and a small dance floor the Younger Gen. didn't seem to mind! Weak drinks, mediocre food quality and a junk fee "Sustainability " fee of 4%. When I asked the server what that was, she said she didn't know...it was just something her boss told her about. She shrugged it off as just a little bit of money. Clearly could care less. Small business is very hard and if they're struggling, I can appreciate the financial challenges. Surprising or being sneaky about a surcharge is a very poor way to build loyalty among happy customers. I'd love the chance to speak with management about better ways to solve their problems. I do wish them well and hope they make better products, motivate their team members to represent them better and give their customers the best experience. Until then 3-stars. read more

Finally came out for a night show with some friends after an event I hosted. Definitely was a weird crowd but we managed to grab the comfy couches by the bar. Got a few cocktails and enjoyed ourselves for a night. Cocktails were quickly made even as it got busier in the night. Won't be coming back for that line up of an event but the Saloon is very very promising and I'd enjoy to come back at a much later date. Service is trash. No idea how their drinks are, can never get served. Not even acknowledged. Middle of the day, not that busy, and completely ignored for close to 10 minutes. What an interesting spot I was in town for restaurant week and had a bit of time before our reservation so we dropped in here for a drink that became two drinks with an app. We really said. It's very spacious inside and they also have outdoor seating so that's a big plus. We were fans of the bun. An order came with three pieces which was perfect for us. We had no business eating anything since we were about to have a 3 course dinner, but we decided to get a second round so we figured it made sense. The service was good. We were looked after. As I sat there staring up, a little cross faded, it occurred to me how much of an opportunity they're missing by not decorating the wooden ceiling. Nail some animal heads up there. Loved the drinks here and the interior. This place is super cute, although was not very lively around the time we came in on a Saturday early afternoon. Wandered into this place just looking for a drink and was pleasantly surprised. It is a comfy spot in downtown Ventura with couches, tables, and a bar. We were promptly served after taking a seat at one of the tables. We weren't that hungry and decided to order the nachos. These were the best damn nachos ever! Easily enough food for two people. It had great carnitas and house made cheese sauce along with plenty of other toppings. I have been back just for the nachos three times now. Drinks are good and a solid beer selection. My only gripe is they should serve draft beer in a frosted mug. It would really take it to 5 stars. Tried some burgers too and they were really good too. Definitely a go-to spot in Ventura. Haven't been there for the night life or DJ so can't comment about that. read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars because of how hard they have tried to keep up with some disgusting folks in our community. I heard recently that the reason they stopped serving their amazing vegan food was because of the hate and threats they were receiving from the community in the way of emails, etc. Seriously?! Vegan food offends you thattttt much that you had to ruin a great thing for the rest of us?! Sheesh. You need help. Anyway... I'd just like to say I love the drinks and vibe here (when it's not overly crowded). The service is always great and the food was spectacular when it was vegan. I'm not so sure now as that was my main draw. I've posted pics of the amazing food we lost here in Ventura. I hope some people are proud of themselves for harassing this business so much that they had to shift their menu model to please you! How sick and sad! Truly a cool place in Ventura. I'm so sad to see the power trolls can have over a gem like this. Rebecca and Rachel were so friendly and accommodating truly made our experience that much better. They have a really great aesthetic, during the day time they have good food and you can sip on some drinks and really appreciate the decor. At night it gets packed! the bartenders here are okay, but the security guards at night are genuinely the worst. i got in a fight with "leo" might have been a fake name, but he was big in height and weight and he was genuinely SO rude. i made a mistake and thought i had gone into the saloon rather than the bar next to it, and instead of being nice and polite, gently telling or explaining to me what happened, he started insulting me and calling me names. from "retard" to "bitch." just everything, so of course i fought back because i don't take any disrespect. while we were fighting some people would stop to see what was happening, and they would tell me too that he's like that all the time and that he has an attitude problem. he does not know how to deescalate. rather, he instigates and escalates further. a bouncer should not be like that. apparently he's had tiktoks made about him too. it's not a horrible bar -- but the employees are horrible and that's not okay. how he's still employed there is beyond me edit -- i read reviews and a lot of people have been mentioning him too. he has a genuine problem and probably gets an ego trip from doing things like this. mind you he's really big and heavy and i am small and 4'10. he has no business treating me like that. not only that, he has no business treating the other customers like that. the saloon needs to do better and fire him but from the sounds of these reviews the manager is an ass too. just a horrible bar overall read more

It's truly tragic was has happened to this place. A year or so ago this was a 5 star, fantastic BBQ joint. Then new management came in (from what I understand, the same people that manage "The Tavern), and totally ruined this place. They made changes to everything that make this place great. ~The chicken sandwich is now of WAY lesser quality. ~The glasses are smaller. I'd say by almost 50%. They used to be cute glass mugs, now they are basically cocktail glasses. ~The light is turned way down like they're going for an upscale or "clubby" atmosphere but no way this place is upscale now! ~Some great menu items are completely gone, like the delicious, high quality peach tea. ~Portions seem to be even smaller than before, but before they were very high quality. read more

This is our favorite place to grab a quick drink. We always sit in "our spot" under the neon sign in the back to people watch. The drinks are reasonably priced and the staff are friendly. The interior is very relaxed. If you are looking for a quiet place to chill and grab a drink this is the spot. When we got there, we had to wait about 10 minutes to be greeted by a server and then when it came time to put in the order, she came back about 15 minutes later and admitted to making a mistake and she said it would be additional time to get my food.
