Update for 2026: I keep coming back - by myself, with friends - and I usually have a very pleasant experience. I love sitting at the bar and doing research / writing while I'm eating. They take really good care of their patrons. I've only had one not so great experience with my food in the years I've frequented this place. I like the country charm and the different seating options (bar, small booth, bigger booth, outside) depending on my mood and group size. What I have to highlight most is the staff. They have a very consistent base of staff who are very friendly, attentive, and it almost feels like I'm being hosted by a big family in their home. People check in frequently to see if I need anything and I hear them being so sweet to other guests as well, in particular the kids. There's a reason I keep coming back. I was a little worried when I pulled up behind the restaurant for the parking lot that is theirs and saw it was small but there were 2 spots left. I was impressed how little the wait time was for a party of 4 on a holiday being it was Labor Day. 3 of us ordered the chile verde breakfast omelette with flour tortillas as our "bread". The omelette was good, the country potatoes were okay and the beans were good. The tortillas were hard so not enjoyable. My adult son ordered a ham and cheese omelette with biscuits as his side of bread. The biscuits were HUGE! The biscuits really were the stand out to me for his meal. I couldn't get over how big they were. He didn't end up eating them there so not sure what he thought of them. He took them to go. Service was outstanding. Our waitress was attentive and other staff that were refilling drinks were also great. I feel like the price was pretty decent. For 4 adults and only one ordering a coffee, our check came out to $84. My first time coming here for breakfast in YEARS, and the food was still as good as I remembered it. They have such a great menu selection - their chilaquiles were fire, and we really enjoyed their omelettes as well. I'm a sucker for a good biscuit, and their biscuit and butter here is DELISH. I normally don't have an issue with service when I go to restaurants, so I was surprised by our experience here. They routinely seemed to forget about our table - they took half our order, and then didn't come back for the rest of our group to order for more than 10 minutes. A water also got spilled, and it took quite a while to come back with napkins. Nothing crazy, just some little things that were disappointing. Parking was surprisingly easy. Overall, good food and an okay experience. Wouldn't be my first choice for a return breakfast. read more

Stopped by Allison's Cafe after running an errand in Ventura., Ordered breakfast and went with the Al's Avocado Omelette, with potato's and biscuits (homemade) with fresh jelly. Amazing just like it was when attending Ventura College (VC) back in 90's. My old football coach the legend Dick James from VC Football introduced this place to us and would issue gift cards to eat for outstanding lineman of the games. Thanks to Coach, This place is clean l, very reasonable prices, and excellent service. During the weekdays is best as weekends gets busy (as it should). This place is a gem in Ventura County and the best breakfast around. Better yet , I introduced this place to my oldest son a few months back, Now he's a big fan and the amazing place is passed on to the next generation. Awesome experience!!!! read more

Visited this cool little place on Sunday 3/30/25. Up in the Ventura area visiting family and decided to have a late breakfast here. Service was outstanding! We never had to ask for anything (just the way I like it)! Foods a little pricey BUT they aren't stingy with their portions AND everything we ordered was DELICIOUS! The servings are generous so you can certainly share!! My husband had the build your own omelette and said it was delicious. My sister enjoyed her Chile verde omelette, and my mom ordered Jeff's Favorite. Most of the meals come with toast or biscuits! I highly recommend the biscuits. They are ginormous! So light fluffy and downright delicious! Side note I had one last biscuit and just warmed it this morning (2 days later) and it was still fresh! The homemade jelly it came with so yummy! It was a few minutes before someone asked if they could help me, but they brought my coffee right away and took my order. In full transparency, it was quite awhile before the food came; however, it was worth it. The omelet was fluffy, full of fresh vegetables, and the flavor actually burst open in my mouth! I rarely leave reviews, but this place earned it. I just had the single worst breakfast burrito of my life here, and that's saying something. First, the service was atrocious. I placed a takeout order and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I ended up waiting 45 minutes for a simple burrito and eggs. When I finally got the food, not only was the order wrong, but the staff refused to make it right. Zero accountability, zero customer care. Then came the food. Honestly, I wish I never opened the container. The burrito was an absolute disaster--soggy, flavorless, and bland beyond belief. The ingredients seemed thrown together with no seasoning, no balance, no effort. After just a few bites, I had to toss it in the trash. At $35, it felt like I literally paid to be disappointed. To make it worse, the whole experience was dismissive from start to finish. If a restaurant can't even manage basic customer service or execute a simple breakfast item, what's the point? There are so many better options nearby--please do yourself a favor and skip this place. I walked away frustrated, hungry, and feeling ripped off. One of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. Update : Not only was it soggy, bland, and poorly made--I now feel sick after forcing down a few bites. And the small salad bar- oh how I wish salad bars would return. We are returning for sure! Staff were friendly and engaging, food was A M A Z I N G! I had the turkey on fresh croissant with salad bar and hubby had the Chilaquiles. Bread was fresh and sandwich was very good. Allison's is a "small but personable place", It was the perfect place to have our Mother's Day breakfast at. Greetings upon our arrival. Love that! Wait time was 10-15 minutes. Love that! Was planning to come here for a month from the valley since it's a Local's favorite decided this past weekend to go after my walk on the pier thought I may be waiting in line at 9:00 a.m. but it was sparsely populated so I was happy to start. I was greeted by a server named Maddie and I opted for the outside patio in the back parking lot just for the sake of open air. I had scouted the menu several times and decided to eat the corned beef hash. Although I could tell it was a homemade recipe it wasn't for me it had too many green herbs in it and the meat was odd it was like a ground beef texture and not like a flat corned beef piece texture and I didn't enjoy the flavor but I'm not knocking it down because it seems fresh it was just not for me. It also came with three eggs and a delicious salsa that tasted homemade if you ask for it. The hash browns were delicious and perfectly cooked which is a rarity these days anywhere breakfast is served. But my ultimate disappointment was the city-famous biscuits that everyone raved about. As soon as it came to my table I knew it wasn't fresh because it didn't have that sunkissed, buttery buns kind of look but it was crusty lumpy and dull a clear reheat or it's been left out way too long. I had a full day planned in Ventura so I didn't want to go back and forth sending shit back and forth so this was a big disappointment. Tons of items to try but it really didn't give me anything to come back for. Not a disaster but far from wanting to come back. Service was great by Maddie. So about 2 to 3 stars for the overall food and one star for the service but I can't warrant four stars here. I parked in their back parking lot which isn't the best with it being a one way in and the only way out is to back it out. The back entrance is conveniently connected to it but if you're not good at parking in a tight space and you're reverse drive skills aren't on point then I'd recommend to not try it and just find parking on the street in front . Of course had to get their biscuits and added gravy all over one of the them (iykyk)! Then had butter and jam on the other biscuit, well because duh, that's amazing too! I also believe that has to be the reason why they give you 2 biscuits with your meal lol. Once I walked in through the back, I wasn't sure where the host's stand was so I walked all the way to the front but I'm still questioning if it at the register right in the middle of the restaurant.
