0/5 if possible. expensive, bad food, rude staff, dirty. got food poisoning. there was a 30 minute wait, and a family next to us sat, got served, and left, before we even ate. the curtains next to us were incredibly dusty, and there were at least two flies that me and my mom had to swat consistently before and after our food arrived. both me and my mother got sick, I ordered the scallop mac n cheese and she got crab legs. the Mac and cheese was 28 dollars, but it tasted like Velveeta, and the scallops (fried and battered) tasted slimy and one of them had a bitter/sour aftertaste. not to mention, the scallops really didn't taste like much. my mother consistently had to crack and re-crack her crab legs because they were so difficult to open, and I typically enjoy eating the joint meat, but some of the meat there was green. im unsure if it was just algae, some harmless growth, or disease, but it was visible even before mom started to eat. she said the legs could have been boiled more. our server was very quick to give us our receipt, even though it took him a GOOD while to serve us. when mom called in yesterday for a refund, she mentioned that the manager "didn't know how to issue one" and that they'd call back later, but it's the next day around 2pm and she hasn't received a call back or a refund. lastly, on the way home, I started to experience mustle cramps, nausea, and later on extreme fatege, soreness, headaches, and little to no appetite. my mom is starting to show the same symptoms today. yummy fries and ketchup tho. the ketchup tasted homemade! i really enjoyed the decorations too, it was ship/pirate themed. very fun to look around. besides that tho, awful experience. please avoid. read more

My friend and I had been wanting to try The Salty Landing, and we chose it to celebrate her birthday. We were greeted and seated right away by a friendly waitress, which was a great start! Our first impression took a bit of a hit when the menus arrived--they looked like they had been pulled out of the trash. Definitely in need of an upgrade! But we decided to stay hopeful and give the food a chance--and we're glad we did. I had the combo basket with blackened shrimp and fried oysters, plus fries. My friend had the blackened shrimp with a baked potato. Everything was tasty, especially the shrimp--perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. Despite the menus, we both agreed the food was good enough to bring us back. Looking forward to our next visit (hopefully with cleaner menus!). read more

Restaurant is very relaxed feel with a fun fishery vibe The service was great and our waitress Tonya was super friendly with our 1 year old making her time there fun. The crab legs were very easy to break down and didn't really put up much of a fight so it was cooked very well, the potatoes could use a little pizazz with some seasoning though. Macaroni and cheese was super creamy and our 1 year old loved it! I did not try the Poboy but given the amount of time I saw it which was not long at all, I would say it was really good. Suze was our exceptional server who went above and beyond this evening!!! My sister in law didn't feel so well feeling dehydrated and Suze quickly brought her ginger ale and hush puppies to make her feel better which really helped a lot. She really was amazing! We had the most wonderful dinner here tonight!! Low country boil, crab legs, fish n chips, and blackened mahi! It was all cooked to perfectio. We started with oysters on the half shell and their signature hush puppies. Everything was divine! Full bar and incredible desserts - most of the desserts are made in-house. Staff was very helpful and fun attitudes. You walk in and immediately feel like you're in Florida (but without the heat!!) A definite must if you're visit Hendersonville or Brevard. My wife and I love "Sea Food Boil", If you have been to any Beach on the Atlantic or Gulf of America you know what this is. We decided to try The Salty Landings version... It was horrible just not good. You are not allowed to substitute anything and what they serve you is mostly Potatoes and Overcooked corn very little of anything else is in the Serving. I'm not sure where they went to get there "recipe" but it definitely wasn't anywhere near an Ocean. Personally I wouldn't recommend anything from here and I know we have not nor will we ever go back to give them another chance as bad as this meal was. read more

I had Maui fish but it was fishy like it was old. Our waitress was very sweet though. I tipped her high since it's not her fault but she should consider working at a place with better food. Five stars for our server, Beth! We walked in after hiking and waterfalls with a party of 11. We were greeted by a very kind man, seated immediately and Beth was on the ball. She took our drink and appetizer orders, and not one mistake made. Never had to look around for a drink refill or a condiment. She was so attentive and kind. The food was very good. Great food. Service a little slow to start bur she made up for it over the meal. Hubby had low country boil which would prefer it in bucket to stay warm. Corn was mushy but shrimp were good. I have blackened grouper which was excellent along with fried cod. Okara could have been crispier. Prices are a little higher than most seafood places but seem to be better quality and not all fried. We've eaten here several times as it's one of the few options in our small community. The burgers are quite good. The mac and cheese is too runny and watered down to have much flavor. The thing we find most interesting is how much smaller the portion sizes are when compared to their sister restaurant in Fletcher, the Surf n' Brew. Same menu even. But we actually from Etowah to Fletcher to eat at Surf n' Brew rather than Salty Landing. Salty Landing serves skimpier portions of seafood than Surf n' Brew in our opinion. Surf n ' Brew also has a more relaxed vibe. Good food either place, though! read more

Everything we have tried here has been excellent. We go every single Friday night because crab legs are on sale for $19/lb. Wife and I share the large house salad before we order the crab legs. In the past I've had the shrimp, oysters, the burger, catfish, mahi, grouper and a few other things, and ALL have been outstanding. The owner grilled some ribeye steaks one evening and was passing out samples, was a nice touch. Overall we adore the food, the servers are great and there's always a game on at the bar. We've eaten our last meal at Salty Landing! The food as always was good. Kitchen was a little slow,, but everything came out as ordered. Service was good too... We noticed they have started using a radio system to keep the waitstaff informed, and it was quite loud. Loud enough that we had to pause conversations at the table. It was like being at McDonalds or Zaxby's when they're calling out order numbers. Very annoying and disruptive. We asked to speak to the owner so we could let them know that this is 2023 and bluetooth over the ear headsets work great and don't annoy your customers. The owner wasn't in, but we were told that the manager would stop by. He/she never came to our table. Then the bill arrived. I had ordered a large salad with an 8oz Philly Meat with Peppers & Onions add on. The large salad is $8 and the Philly Meat add on is $9.50 (according to their printed menu as well as the online menu (https://thesaltylanding.com/menu/). My bill showed $20 for the combination. When I inquired, I was told that the price had changed and the Philly Meat add on was now $12 and I would have to pay the extra $2.50. I asked again to see the manager... the manager was too busy to come to our table and relayed the message that the add on Philly Meat was $9.50 for a small salad and $12 for a large salad. Keep in mind the menu simply says 8oz Philly Meat with Peppers & Onions, with no mention of two sizes. Most restaurant would offer some sort of compensation. I was basically told, too bad, it's my responsibility to ask about the price for a large salad add on! I paid the extra $2.50, tipped the waitress well, as none of this was on her and made sure she knew that we would not be back. read more

My dad and I came here for dinner, we are huge seafood enthusiasts and were craving some good food. We were staying in Mills River, so this was literally right down the road. It was awesome not having to go into Asheville for dinner. There is indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of parking. The service was great, we had Nelly and she was incredibly sweet and helpful. We ordered the crab dip as an appetizer - highly recommend! It is served cold, which is so refreshing. There is so much flavor and you can still taste the crab. It is the perfect portion for 2 people, but for more people you would probably need to order more servings. I wanted 1-lb of crab legs to myself, so we ordered 2-lbs to share and 1-lb of shrimp. The crab legs were to die for. They were so fresh, juicy, and great quality. The shrimp was not my favorite, they were over cooked making them pretty tough to eat. Started with very fresh dozen raw oysters( our fav, gimme oysters and beer for dinner everyday of the year) for $19.99. Also ordered the boom boom shrimp $10 and 10 mild wings, $9 . Both had their own unique sauce that was just right in flavoring. Wings were very tender and the shrimp plump and cooked perfect with a nice light batter. We split the oyster/shrimp po' boy with steak fries. $13.50 Very tasty and the bread was nice and soft but could be a tad bigger for the price even though it was loaded with plenty of both. This place is busy. Probably the busiest place in Etowah. That being said, they need a lot of help on their processes. There is no hostess stand. Just some random employees that ask your name. I feel like the giant pirate could be removed and more seating for people waiting. Lots of people just standing because they have no where to wait to be seated. The decor is very bright and really a much better lighting than the previous restaurants that have occupied this location. Our server is nice. I cant tell you her name. She never gave it. Also, PLEASE STOP PUTTING THE LEMONS IN THE DRINK!!! As a customer, I hate fishing it out of the glass to squeeze it. On to the food! Low country boil: the temperature was barely warm. I think it had been sitting out for a few mins before it got to me. I was hoping for a big punch of flavor and I feel like it kinda fell short. It needed butter! It tasted like it was boiled in unseasoned water and seasoned with old bay when it was done. The size of the shrimp was really nice. The sausage was good also. The corn was really overcooked. The cob was soft like it had been in water all day. It was good though. I would order it again if they would boost the flavors. The slaw was ok. I did like the seasoning in the slaw. The shrimp and oysters fried were good. Definitely crispy and golden. I believe there was spinach in the fried oysters. The hush puppies were probably the best I've EVER had. Ate here for the first time today. They just opened two days ago. I had high hopes. All of the previous establishments have failed. This has staying power, due to what I've observed today. The decor: they've updated the decor from previous owners. Many of the previous business haven't done that. Attention to detail: this is the first thing I noticed upon waking in. The decor is very apropos for a sea food restaurant. The staff: upon waking in I was greeted with a huge welcoming smile from a young man named Pierce. Very pleasant, and not an attitude I'm used to receiving from someone his age. He was moving around with urgency, so I assumed he was an owner or part owner. I'm not sure if he is, but if he's not, he was behaving as though he was which is a recipe for success. All staff should work as though they are owners. Our waitress was named Maggie. She was fantastic, professional, very warm and welcoming. She too paid attention to detail. Wow! The owner: I had very little interaction with him. What I did observe was him helping in the kitchen. He wasn't "too good" to do that. He wasn't waisting time politicking with customers. When he wasn't helping in the kitchen, he was managing by walking, observing customers body language, and he made sure to ask how the food was. He cared: sadly a dying trait in many business owners these days. Now the important part. The food: geez. It was amazing. The fish and chips were perfectly fried and moist. Haven't had fish and chips that good before! And the fried oysters: they were amazing. These were not frozen. Ever! You can tell in the taste that this isn't frozen. The fried calamari was amazing. Not chewy in the least. I usually can tell a restaurant's quality by their calamari alone, so, this was a great way to start the experience! If you like those sea food restaurants that serve a ton of food, where you have to take half of it home and later wonder why you took any of it home because it wasn't fresh in the restaurant, it sure isn't going to be fresh on the reheat: don't come here. WARNING: When they quote you a "Market Price"... watch your final bill! We were told a dozen oysters was $26.00 but instead were actually charged $39.00 for the dozen. The dinner was very ok at best (5/10) and the Oyster were by far our least favorite part of the meal even prior to the bill! The drink and service (other than the dishonest pricing) were good. This experience left a bad enough "taste in out mouth" that we will NOT return nor will we recommend. Oh and lots of FLYies landing on us and our food throughout dinner too!
