This is more of a note to the owner as a review of the restaurant. We've been eating here since the place first opened. Food has always been good, decent service, good atmosphere, fair prices. Last night was ridiculous. I checked the website to see about the wait times, and there was no waiting list. Arrived about 6:30. The front room was fairly full, but about half of the tables in the bar side were empty. The hostess apologized and told us that the manager told her not to seat any more customers. The kitchen was backed up and the wait would be over 2 hours for food. Come on! It's not like you have a world class chef preparing intricate dishes. You're shucking oysters and frying fish. Either you have the wrong people in the kitchen, or not enough to do the job on a Thursday night. We will try again, but I'm not happy this time. read more

We were seated fairly quickly. The tables are spaced apart well, and they have roll up windows/garage door to let in fresh air. I tried their "Signature Mule" and it was good. Stopped here on a random trip through Canton GA, Yelp reviews convinced me to give it a try and I'm happy we gave it a shot! We sat at the bar and felt totally welcome, comfy bar stools, great bartender Tiffany, and amazing food! Shannon, one of the owners, introduced herself and was very nice! She showed us the Bloody Mary menu and I will be partaking of one on our next visit! The oysters were very good, the peel and eat shrimp absolutely to die for! ( I would recommend adding a couple slices of crusty bread to soak up the sauce it's so yummy!!), and the scallops with mushroom risotto and bacon brussels were very good! Had the fish and chips and was probably the worst batter I have ever had. The fish came out either burnt or they are using old dirty oil because the batter was not golden. It was just plain brown. When your a fried food place and your oil is bad on a Friday evening, it makes you wonder about quality. And cleanliness. I would have rather had Van de kamps frozen fish batter. However, once I chiseled away the 1/4" of burnt batter the fish was fine. Also had the peel and eat shrimp and that was fine. Don't expect a lot from the service or management on correcting issues either. They made a mixed drink wrong and insisted on correcting it incorrectly. Can't just fixed a mistake by adding more mix. You know it's not good when the owner comes up to you to ask how the drink is made. NOTE: all drink purchases are final even if they screw up!! They charge you for the messed up drink. By the way be careful as everything sticks to the tables. Not sure if it's the table finish or just a lack of cleanliness. I would keep the paper menu to use as a placemat. We enjoyed our visit and received great service from Derek. Nice beach bar type atmosphere. The fried Clam Strips were the best I've had in the Atlanta area. Fried Shrimp and Chargrilled oysters were also very good. I was not overly impressed with the Shrimp & Grits or creamed corn, and I've never seen a 2 ounce serving of Cole Slaw before. Casual place with a beach theme. Loved the peel and eat shrimp, and great crab cakes. Side dish of corn was a little different but yummy. My family ate here a couple weeks ago and were very underwhelmed. We started with the bang bang shrimp and received 5 shrimp for $15. Definitely overpriced, but this was the best part of the meal. My husband and I both did the you pick two seafood dishes. I had the fried oysters and grilled grouper. I could not even chew the oysters so I ate 2 and couldn't even eat the other 3. The grouper was not very good either but at least edible. My husband had the scallops and grouper and he wasn't impressed but said it wasn't bad. We both got the mushroom risotto as one of our sides. My husband liked it but I thought it was terrible--no flavor. I also got the Brussels sprouts which were pretty good. I believe my husband got the bacon creamed corn and liked it. I can't remember what our kids got but it was typical kid food. Our waitress was very nice and offered our daughters her color pens to draw with when they were upset. But she lacked in other areas. My husband's drink was constantly empty, never refilled my water, didn't take plates away that were in our way (which matters with young kids). They did have live music which was nice. We didn't drink alcohol as I'm pregnant so can't speak to the alcoholic drinks but lots of people were drinking. All in all I don't recommend for food and will not be back for a meal. read more

I was craving a fish sandwich so I perused through my trust Yelp app and found this new(er) establishment north of us. Why not give it a try? Certainly glad we did. The place has plenty of seating, we opted for the bar though. I order a glass of Chardonnay and my husband had an IPA by Scofflaw. We started off with the calamari. It was so crispy! Came out piping hot. We asked a side of mule sauce. The sauce was like a Mayo creole horseradish. It was awesome! The calamari was really good though without it. The appetizer was quite filling so opted to share the fish and chips. Glad we did because we didn't even finish it together. The fish was flaky and crispy as well. SO GOOD! Fries were hot and fried to perfection with ample amount of salt added. The star on the plate though were the hush puppies. One bite and I was hooked. Didn't care about the fries anymore, I wanted more of what was in my hand and I want the other one on the plate . Crunchy outside, creamy inside. It was divine. I won! My husband didn't even want to try the hush puppy because he was full. Fine! I'll eat it if I must . The bartenders were very attentive, just wish the wine pours had a heavier hand. Oh yeah! We had a bowl of the clam chowder. How could I forget? I do not like clams therefore I never had a desire to order clam chowder. I knew my husband liked it, but he has never ordered when I was around. I had a bite and now I love it as well. It was outstanding. The crackers served with it were stale but they very well could've been delivered stale crackers so I won't hold it against them. Next time we are definitely trying oysters. There was a gentleman at the end of the bar that just continuously shucked fresh oysters. We didn't notice until after we ordered the calamari No worries though, we most definitely will return. We had lunch at The Salty Mule today. There were three adults in our group. Each of us ordered a different item. One person of our group had the chicken fingers and fries. Such a large helping and delicious. The chicken was very tender. Fries were great. One of us got a Canton Salad. Large and delicious. She loved it. I had a double Smash Burger! It was so good. I just came from the gym and I was hungry. I was full after eating! Fries were delicious. I and my wife ordered side salads with the citrus vinegarette dressing. AMAZING! We loved it! In fact we bought a container of the dressing to bring home. I would recommend this restaurant to our friends and family. Tiffany was our server. She was friendly, beautiful and knowledgeable about the menu. I was thirsty from working out; she never let my water glass stay empty. A few have complained about the food being salty. I've been here 3 times since they opened, and felt that the food was excellent - I'm not one to dump salt on everything I eat, but I appreciate it when a kitchen adds a little seasoning to bring out the flavor, rather than omit the salt and have everything on the flavorless side. I often feel that we consume less salt when it's used during the cooking as opposed to adding it afterward. We've had baskets with shrimp, oysters, clam strips, and the fish. The seafood has always been fresh and hot and very tasty. Special praise for the sweet potato fries - until now, most that I've tasted were very dry and bland. The ones here are really good. Oysters on the half-shell have also been good on every visit. Noise is a bit of an issue here - the concrete floors and hard walls don't do much to quiet things down. But it's a good atmosphere and the staff has always been friendly. When it's crowded, the place is expected to be a bit noisy. A strange thing: we went in for a late lunch / early dinner one afternoon - about 2:30-ish. The place was just about empty and we were seated at a table near the front window. Another small group came in after us and were seated at the table immediately to one side of us. As we were ordering another group was seated immediately to the other side of us. So a big empty restaurant and three groups are close enough that none of the tables could have a comfortable conversation without overhearing the next table. I don't get some of these places! One really good feature of this place is the call-ahead seating through their web site. It's about 30 minutes to drive from the house - go to the app to reserve a table, and it tells you how many tables are in front of you. If it looks like an hour wait, hang around the house (or shopping, or whatever) and coast into a parking place just before your number is called. And if you're a few minutes late, you can click a button to have them keep you at the front of the list until you arrive. On a crowded summer weekend night when it's 200° on the pavement, it's good to not have to wait in a long line. I'll be back for more! read more

Glad to see another seafood option in Canton. I tried it at about 2:40 on a Saturday. I was seated quickly but the party before me was told they couldn't be seated til there entire party was present. Not like they were terribly busy but whatever, it was surprising. Anyway I must say the service was good though the server didn't know what the well brand of vodka was. Once she found out I can only say I've never heard of it. Makes sense to ask. Agree with other reviews - all the breading/batter on fried items is SUPER salty. My wife and I went here for one of those precious few child-free date nights, and it was absolutely phenomenal. Everything we ordered, apart from the clam strips, was fantastic! The red shrimp were the Star, though, and my wife says next time she's ordering the full order of these as her meal! My grilled mahi and seared scallops were fantastic, the cocktails were unique and flavorful, and the key lime was the perfect end to this meal! Only wish we had room to try dessert. The decor was cute but nothing special. The chairs were super uncomfortable especially for larger bottoms and the table we had seemed sloped from one side to the other. It was also a little loud with all the hard surfaces. Although overall we had good service (glasses often refilled without asking), our server always walked away mid request or swooped by without acknowledging us. Parking in the area is always an issue. And a word of caution about the entrance - although it's all ramped, the slope is VERY steep from one angle. A beautiful Sunday lunch! My husband and I have been wanting to try this place out for weeks!! Wanting to support local business we were impressed from of first steps into the restaurant. Three steps in and you would think that you were at the beach! My husband had the red shrimp platter and I had the fish and chips. Both were delicious and a hefty portion as well. The staff was welcoming. We sat up at the bar and found s new friend in Michelle, our bartender. We enjoyed our lunch so much that we had to share a slice of key lime pie! Not too tart and a thick graham cracker crust, about near perfect. We are looking forward to being regulars and have already picked out many of the dishes we will try on our next visit. My wife was annoyed by how noisy the place is, but it's about what you would expect with a beach themed joint with concrete walls, floors and ceilings. Then the restaurant said they'd taste test it and came back and said it tasted fine and that's the recipe. All we did was taste it and they still had it on the bill. When we asked to remove it, they said the owner didn't say to. I asked if they would and the waitress went and asked. She came back and said "We'll do it THIS TIME, but NEXT TIME, don't do that again." Don't do what again? Send food that taste funky back? Not like your food? Complain? What a great addition to downtown Canton! We went on Saturday, late lunch (oh and Valentines eve) and ppl were waiting outside. My husband said no way on waiting so I walked right into the bar and shared a table with a nice couple from NYC. They were SLAMMED! We understood and decided to just have oysters and a drink. Great place to grab a heavy snack. Great people watching. The server was very friendly and loved how up front she was about how busy they were. We had things to do, so we understood and made it work for both of us. The oysters were from Texas and tasted very fresh. Missed them on a bed of ice but we ate them so fast it wasn't a show stopper. I do have to say it was disappointing as the slaw was chopped really fine, which made the texture a little off.
