Not what I was expecting. POPS Canton is incredibly popular in our area and takes up the best looking corner in the best looking building in downtown Canton GA. The restaurant is huge inside, and if you have never been here before, you might want to get the low down before you get there. This is not table service, and "what to do" is not immediately clear. We walked in and up to what looked like a host stand. There was no line so we didn't see that you walk to your left and order at a counter area. You have to grab your drinks at said counter, order, and sit down. Pick your own table because they don't seat you. The staff are INCREDIBLY nice and friendly, and they made some recommendations. We ordered pasta and a chopped salad to share. When we sat down, there was no silverware. The food came out incredibly quickly so we had to ask for it. We didn't realize that you had to get your own silverware and we didn't see where it was until one of the staff members got it for us. Oh by the way, the drinks....no refills if you order a Coke. Even the water was bottled so if you wanted another one, you had to buy it. (I guess, I don't know for sure). The food was good, especially the salad and the bread. We weren't wild about the pasta. It was just ok. Oh and I asked about a dessert menu and a staff member said "she would go get it". That was odd to me but realized you have to order dessert with the rest of the meal or you have to get back up and potentially stand in line to order it at the counter. We got tiramisu. It was incredibly over sweet. There are plenty of menu items that I am sure are really good! Here's the thing....the staff are wonderful!! So nice and helpful if you look lost like we were. Understand what you are getting BEFORE you go, because, like we were, you might be disappointed and confused. The food will come out super quickly, and the staff will take great care of you. I wouldn't call this a date restaurant. The experience is fast food, and the food, for us didn't live up to our expectations and price point. Getting your meal, "how you get it here" was just odd. It's the same exact experience as McDonald's but with a really friendly staff (but no drink refills) This place COULD be really special if they simply had table service in my humble opinion. What a waste of environment and incredible staff.

We're walking around downtown Canton looking for a "new" restaurant and after looking at several menu's, decided on POPS (Palermo's Original Pasta and Sandwiches). You check out the menu and order at the counter and they bring you your meal. I ordered the Seafood Scampi and my wife ordered the sausage sandwich with peppers and onions with sauce on the side. They brought our food pretty quickly considering they cook it right there, and the dishes were nice and hot! I hate when you get your meal and you can tell it's been sitting somewhere waiting to be picked up and you get it like warm. My wife said her sandwich was delicious, the peppers and onions were cooked perfectly. My scampi was also very good. The spaghetti was a fatter noodle, but very good and made fresh every day on site! The service was excellent. Very attentive to water glasses, asking if we needed anything, asking if everything was ok. Not too much, just enough. It's an open restaurant, but not too noisy, and comfortable. We'll definitely be back. This was a nice find for us in Canton!

First time for lunch on a Saturday. Love the openness of the place. Grab a menu & order @ the counter. Great selections of pastas. Salads & sandwiches. We ordered the spaghetti & meatballs, chopped salad & cheesy bread w/marinara the cheesy bread was ready so fast. We sat @ a 2 top. It's so cute in here with a friendly vibe. There's one side that has Italian merchandise & cute kitchen products. Upfront are tables to relax & chat. The cheesy bread app was delicious. Our meals came & looked great. My husband loved his spaghetti & meatballs. The noodles are much thicker & really looked good. My chopped salad was delicious. Chickpeas, salami, veggies with a great dressing with a slight kick made for a perfect meal. They have drinks & coffees too. The staff makes the place & you can see the concern of making everyone happy. Will gladly come back. Great spot in downtown Canton!

Fresh and friendly...salads greens are crisp, while shrimp are super fresh and not fishy tasting, lemon and basil dressing flavor-forward- complimented by a side of whipped honey ricotta with crostini. One salad is very shareable. Staff is thoughtful and attentive. Located in downtown adjacent to gazebo.

This is a cute place in downtown canton. Me and a friend went for lunch. Lots of free parking. The staff is very friendly.. and the owner actually came to talk to us too. He's really personable. My friend ordered one of their salads she loved it. It looked like it was dressed well and well balanced. I ordered one of their fresh pastas that I've never heard of and a side of the spicy coleslaw. The pasta is cooked well. I just felt like it needed more seasoning, but they do give you a good portion size and a small piece of bread with it. The inside of this place gives a good vibe.. very welcoming and not overly packed with too many tables.

A gem downtown! Lots of space and we were seated immediately. Their Caesar is absolutely delicious and probably the best one I've had so far. Our food tasted fresh and came out looking beautiful. Inside, they have lots of little goodies available to buy. Will definitely be going back again!

Torchietti with pesto broccolini, sausage, roasted squash, herbed ricotta. Excellent.

I'd give more stars if I could. Sorry, Atlanta, this awesome Italian eatery is in Canton. Yes it is worth the drive. Huge dishes of gorgeous perfectly cooked homemade pasta, sauces are divine, fresh veggies, eggplant meatballs. Love the feel inside this historic building. I would be here weekly if this were in my neighborhood.

We stopped in for the first time tonight. It was very surprising. You are greeted at the door by a person handing you a menu and telling you to go to the counter to place your order. You then go to your table, seat yourself and your food is brought out to you fairly quick. The food was very fresh and great tasting. We ordered the eggplant parmigiana and it had eggplant meatballs, different but very good. We also tried the bolognese al aforno, which was like lasagna and very yummy. The meal ended with cheesecake that was so fresh. The owner, I think, stopped by our table and was very friendly. He asked if we liked the cheesecake and we said we were thinking about taking a slice home it was so good. He returned to our table a minute later with a slice and said merry Christmas.

Me and my Nana came to POPS for the first time and the food was delicious, the server was very kind. The restaurant was so beautiful on the inside and looked like an awesome place to have a work meeting, hangout with friends or do solo-work.

Amazing sandwiches! The portions are humongous. I came here starving and could only eat a half. The restaurant has a great ambiance, love the counter service for a relaxed feel but the decor makes it feel very upscale. We loved the American Dream and Bee Sting sandwiches and can't wait to come back to try the pastas. 10/10 recommend.

My in-laws raved about POPS Canton, so we decided to check it out with them. Located in downtown Canton, POPS stands for Palermo's Original Pasta & Sandwiches and was created to offer a simple, fresh and delicious Italian-American dining experience with a focus on quality without the frills. Homemade pastas, sauces, meatballs and sausage are the centerpiece of the menu along with classic and creative sandwiches and salads. POPS is situated in the historic Jones Building and offers a beautiful yet comfortable dining room. POPS operates as somewhat of a fast casual restaurant where you place your order at the counter, are given a number, then have your meal brought to you. The Spicy Shrimp Alla Vodka ($22) immediately caught my eye. I LOVE spicy vodka pastas, especially with seafood, so that was an easy choice for me. It came with gulf shrimp, cherry tomato, spicy vodka sauce, and a small side of bread. The entree was incredible. The pasta had great consistency and the spicy vodka sauce was flavorful. I absolutely loved it. Our table also shared a bottle of red. I can definitely see why POPS is a local favorite and I look forward to returning when I come back to Canton!

What an adorable local eatery. I loved the vintage deli vibes. We were greeted at the door on a Friday during lunch. So wonderful to tell us how ordering works and seating as well. We tried the grind(Italian sub) and the chopped salad with some cheesy bread. Everything we had was fresh, tasty and in a time when restaurants seem to be so short staffed there were plenty of staff members present. Oh the joy of real silverware and great disposable napkins. They had such cute Italian items for sale too, perfect for a gift basket. Like pasta, oil, truffle salt.

The space, the concept, the vibe all work. The bartender was excellent. Very professional, very kind, and clearly doing everything he could to hold the night together. I honestly felt bad for him. He was busting his ass nonstop and never seemed to catch a break. Unfortunately, the kitchen was an absolute disaster. From the start, four or five items on the menu were immediately unavailable. As the night went on, more and more dishes were 86'd. The message coming out of the kitchen was that they simply did not have the ingredients to cook what was on the menu, which is a pretty alarming thing to hear as a guest. Things got even stranger when we learned there was no chef in the kitchen. Instead, the general manager was back there trying to cook. It very clearly was not working. We ordered appetizers and waited about 45 minutes for what I believe was a seafood dip. When it finally arrived, it came out as a thin, runny soup. Not a dip. A soup. On top of that, it was so aggressively spicy it was nearly inedible. It honestly felt like no one back there had ever made the dish before. The food, flat out, gets a zero from me. If I could give it a negative score, I would. That said, the front-of-house staff deserves credit. They were polite, professional, and clearly trying to manage an impossible situation created by the kitchen. I felt for them, because they were the ones having to face guests while everything behind the scenes was falling apart. Again, this is based on a single experience, and I truly hope it was an off night that's been corrected. If not, I don't see how a place like this could survive. The concept is good, the people up front were good, but the kitchen that night was a complete failure. The entire 2 hour + experience was comp'd.

No one in town charges more for a beer than this place. For example, I enjoy local IPAs and Creature Comforts (Athens) is everywhere. I can go to several other stops in town and pay less for a 16 oz can or pour of this beer. Compared to another decent stop down the street, three roses is almost 30% more. My wife says one of the wines she likes is a little less than other stops, so that's good. But other drink prices tend to be on the high side as well, but most in town have higher liquor prices. That adds up if you like to frequent a place. Hence, we stopped frequenting. Overall, I like the decor and as noted, the food is decent. The upstairs is better than the downstairs but I'm glad they have the downstairs for some occasion when they could get busy. As for the Tavern / entertainment element, I've never seen any live music but they have several TVs. I sat on the main level which had mostly booths (for 4 & 2 persons), half booths, bar seats, and a few tables. The interior was classy, but the ambiance was not. The mood was ruined by whiny acoustic music, probably picked by the staff and not for the customers. I can normally tune it out, but the uncharacteristic F*bombs coming from the speakers were a mood killer. And while waiting for my meal I heard the following exchange from the kitchen: "Your late!" "Are you going to fire me? Please send me home!" The hostile attitudes in the kitchen was unfortunately reflected in the meal. I ordered the fish and chips, and the fries were nicely cooked. The crust on the fish also looked good. But the fish inside was watery and unpleasant. It was also topped with a mass of cilantro sprigs, which did not pair with the flavors. I managed to scrape them all off. The fish was served with vinegar, ketchup, and (missing) tartar sauce. The friendly and attentive waitress was quick to correct the missing sauce, although it did take awhile. My meal also came with a side of slaw that would have been outstanding if the kitchen hadn't made a misstep of loading it with too much salt. The other seasonings in the slaw were excellent and unique and the addition of red onions was great, but sadly ruined by the saltiness. At the end of my meal I visited their modern and stylish restrooms. I'd arrived just after 5PM and on this weekday there were only a few patrons. So the stylish furnishing of the restroom were marred by the mess I encountered in there. Based on the number of employees compared to patrons, there wasn't an excuse for not cleaning that bathroom. I've seen truckstop restrooms that weren't that nasty.

They were clearly understaffed, which was apparent from checking in with the hostess. The line of people waiting to check in with her caused the waiter taking desserts downstairs to have to wait up to five minutes with that tray. Once we were seated, we thought things might go better. Crab cake Benedict was the #1 choice for my wife and BIL, but the kids' menu didn't have the chicken and waffles the guy who called to confirm my reservation had mentioned. That was no problem because my kids have learned to find something to eat wherever we take them, and I ordered chicken and waffles to share with them because I love my kids and knew I would get enough food one way or another. The mimosa came in a wine glass because they had run out of flutes, which was fine by my wife, but she said they tasted heavier on the juice than on the prosecco. My waffles came out a bit burnt, but they replaced them with no problem when we pointed it out. My kids got fresh waffles, and I enjoyed the burnt ones. The chicken was one decent piece for a person, but split between my daughter and me was less than I had hoped for. Thankfully, the salad was a decent appetizer. When the crab cakes Benedict came, we were shocked to see a mess of scrambled eggs on a thin crab cake with an English muffin under. We always ask for hollandaise on the side because that sauce can go several different ways of bad, but in this instance we were genuinely confused how a benedict could come with anything other than poached eggs! The flavor was okay, but the texture and presentation left a lot to be desired. My wife only finished half of hers and didn't touch the limp fries. You can probably figure out how I made do with food in this instance. Our kids, meanwhile, devoured their food like we had starved them their whole lives, so on the plus side we didn't have to hear kids whining about food! Service was polite but very slow. I don't know that we'll be back. With the abundance of good restaurants in our area, it's going to be hard to justify returning here.
