$180 Captains Platter, 24 oysters, Crudo slivers, chips, trout dip, caviar bits shrimp cocktail with the sauces.

Let me start by saying the front staff is a solid 5 stars. This is a creative review and not negative in anyway. :) Salty Pearl charges fine dining prices and potions but not set up as such. Review is 3 stars due to portions and pricing. We were not bothered on how much we spent but leaving hungry after spending over $600 made me think if we will return is why I am sharing this. The 2 front staff is fantastic and a solid 5 !!! Niff and Miss Lady made us feel really at home but they need more staff to help them especially on a busy night. Being understaffed they both held great and attentively smiled. Honestly the kitchen needs help to get orders out timely :).. This is a great spot to drink and socialize. But expect to spend a lot $$$ and less portions on the offerings. Yes we knew it will be an expensive experience bit did not expect tiny portions. Even the garlic bread at $10 gets you 2 small slices and just read on the other reviews to confirm my honest experience. I did not feel the need to post a lot of photos just posted and just the Captains Platter and our total itemized bill to validate what we consumed along with 2 bottles of wine for 4 adults.

Service and Staff: - We got lucky in that the restaurant wasn't super packed when we got there. Got a nice table next to the window - Even though it wasn't super busy, we were walked past many times before someone finally came to take our order Food and Drinks: - Focaccia bread: tasty - Oysters: fresh - Lemonade: not as good as the first two times I had it. This time was more gingery, but it was still good Miscellaneous: - Parking is available via street parking and the parking garage across the street - Prices seem to have gone up (as is the economy these days) - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor and outdoor seating available[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] - [[HIGHLIGHT]]Casual ambiance with average noise levels[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Fresh Oysters

Clam chowder was excellent. Oysters were fresh! I was expecting a bigger serving of the lobster roll but it didn't disappoint me much because it was still good. The servers were really nice too. It just took a little longer for our orders to come out but other than that, everything we ate was great.

The first time I tried to go to the Salty Pearl they were closed. The second time was the charm. Two things to note, the whole staff is friendly and everything is fresh. They were running a special with a winery, buy a carafe of wine, get a dozen oysters for a $1 each. I mention it because it was a good deal. Unfortunately for me, no alcohol. I still had the oysters though. They served me 1/2 East Coast and 1/2 West Coast. For once, my beloved Miyagis were the bigger oyster. Delicious! Instead of wine, I had a Shirley Temple. They make a good one. For my main, I had the lobster roll. They do it with mayonnaise and celery. It was good, but I prefer my naked with butter. Wish that was an option. I chose to splurge and get the Cesar salad on the side. It was almost delicate, with finely shredded cheese and light dressing. I wish there was more dressing to stand up to the romaine. Maybe a few more croutons, too. For dessert, I tried the creme brulee. It was nice and creamy with lots of fresh fruit on top. I only ate half. Be aware, the serving size is generous. You and a friend could easily share. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space itself is nice. It's modern and bright with jwarm wood and jaz playing in the background. There is seating at the bar, and a few outdoor tables in addition to the main room[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I enjoyed my experience. If I had a criticism, it's that I wished for one or two more mains. They really have what I consider a grazing menu. It's not a bad thing, just something to consider. Only go if you love seafood. They have the obligatory burger, but not much else. I give them a solid 3.5. Recommended.

I've been eyeing this place since it popped up on my Yelp page and we finally got to try it out. Overall, I liked it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is small and quaint. There's dim lighting with candles on each table, but it still feels relaxed and casual. Makes for a good date night spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For oysters, you could get either the $1 oysters with an order of a bottle of wine or the regular menu ones for $40 for a dozen. Since we didn't want an entire bottle of wine, we opted for the regular menu option and they were good! You would not have caught me eating oysters a few years ago, but I've grown to enjoy them and these tasted fresh! Aside from the oysters, we also got the tuna crudo, clam chowder, lobster roll with Caesar salad, and shrimp ceviche tostadas. I probably sound crazy, but the best thing we had was hands down the Caesar salad. This was the best Caesar salad I've had in my life. The parm on top was so finely grated, and I think they also grated the croutons or something because each bite had the perfect crispy texture, almost like fizzy rock candy in your mouth. Ugh it was so good. I would have eaten a whole plate of it, but we only got it as a side for the lobster roll. The lobster roll was also yummy, with mayo and celery. There was a good amount of meat, though the roll itself was a bit small. I think the menu listed it as market price and it ended up being $45 plus $6 to sub in the Caesar salad instead of chips. All in all, the lobster roll was good, but I don't think it was worth the price. Finally, the clam chowder was really good. Savory, creamy, nothing to complain about. The tuna crudo and shrimp ceviche tostados I'd pass on next time. Now I love carpaccio at Japanese spots, so I always think I'd like crudo, but it usually ends up being a bit disappointing to me. This was the case here. The oil with the fish was just a bit bland. Similar with the ceviche - the flavor was a bit one note and it was a bit too much onion and tartness for me.

I love this spot, and found it through Instagram ads talking about the $1/oyster deal if you purchase a bottle of wine. I've gone twice already and it's been great as an oyster lover. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's in a walkable area but has ample parking, the vibe is cool and cute, their wine selection is unique, and the service is great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Normally, I'm skeptical about oyster deals and the quality of it, but these oysters are fresh, delicious, and shucked well. Out of the dishes I've tried: + yellowfin tuna crudo - grilled garlic bread (a little tough) + New England clam chowder -/+ anchovies Bottles range about from about $55-80 and up to $225. Great deal and great quality -- definitely coming back for more.

Disappointing Experience at What Should've Been a Gem in Jack London Square I've been to oyster bars, raw bars, and wine bars up and down the coast--from casual docksides to upscale wine lounges. So when I heard about a local oyster and wine bar in Jack London Square offering $1 oysters, I was genuinely excited. Local to Oakland, great concept, and a killer promo--what's not to love? Sadly, the experience fell flat. We had a reservation and arrived right on time at 5:30 p.m., only to be sat in the sunroom... directly on the heated seats... on an 80-degree day. It felt like dining in a greenhouse. When we politely asked to move to the main dining room (which had plenty of open tables), the female server seemed less than thrilled. She relocated us to a cramped table sandwiched between two parties--still with lots of open space around. Not exactly the warmest welcome. The $1 oyster promo came with a catch: you must buy a bottle of wine. Not an issue... until we discovered the markup was outrageous. The brut we ordered was a $9 bottle retail, charged at $56. That's over 600% markup--not a deal, but a poor business practice. As for the oysters, we ordered a dozen--some off-menu BC variety, per the server. But three of them had a funky smell and questionable freshness. A foodie's nightmare. The crudo was bland, diced instead of sliced (and barely seasoned), and the clam chowder was watery with barely any clams. The only bright spot? The key lime pie. Tart, creamy, and actually enjoyable. The crème brûlée, unfortunately, was dry and likely overcooked. Service was mixed. The male servers had friendly energy, but our main server lacked warmth. We sat for nearly two hours catching up, but she rarely checked in unless we flagged her down--no water refills, no offer for more food, and little attentiveness. Bottom line: Beautiful location, but poor service, questionable seafood freshness, and overpriced wine made this visit a major letdown. With a few major tweaks, this could be a local gem--but as it stands, I won't be rushing back.

    BBQ'ed oysters

The Salty Pearl is a very nice oyster & seafood spot in the Jack London Sq. area. We've been in on three occasions now. They offer a great deal of $1 oysters, up to two dozen, with the purchase of a bottle of wine. The oysters are fresh and delicious. Their trout dip is really good too. We've also tried their BBQ'ed oysters, which were tasty, but after having my partner's BBQ'ed oysters in his made-from-scratch chipotle bourbon sauce, it's hard to find other BBQ'ed oysters that can even compare. Nevertheless, all the food here is great. Service is terrific as well, friendly and unpretentious. They recommend reservations, but we've had no trouble getting a spot without one. Just found out that they also do Sunday brunch, so we will return for that. This is a great date night spot. Go check it out and enjoy!

We stopped by The Salty Pearl on our bike ride home and it was the perfect little reward after a 9-mile ride. It's a cozy seafood and wine bar with a laid-back vibe. We grabbed a couple of menus, ordered two mimosas, a breakfast sandwich, and the lobster salad served with buttery Ritz crackers--simple, flavorful, and totally hit the spot. The staff was warm and welcoming, and sitting outside made the whole experience feel even more refreshing and peaceful. Can't wait to go back and try more things

Didn't plan on going but was looking for a brunch spot and wondered if they were open and they were! Got a seat quickly and had lovely host and server over the course of our brunch. Had coffee and oysters, that were so delicious, sea-tasting, briney, and came out quickly. We also ordered breakfast burritos, lox bagel, and country potatos and was SO hungry I didn't take any photos but the brunch meal items were delicious! My Lox bagel was warm, soft and chewy, all the elements worked in balance. Highly recommend a visit be it for brunch, or dinner, or a drink and some oysters!

Went there on the Saturday evening and had oysters, caviar, the focaccia bread and Caesar salad. Everything was delicious, but the Service was a little slow. It took a while to get water and our wine glasses. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great place for a date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would go back.

I went to the Salty Pearl to meet one of my girlfriends for oysters, wine and to catch up. I've been meaning to check this spot out as I really like Rocky Island Oyster Co when they were in Point Richmond. I was immediately greeted when I came in and checked on frequently as my friend was running late. We ordered a bottle of Blanc de Blancs and two dozen oysters, as oyster are a dollar each when you order a bottle of wine. We also added the grilled garlic bread, shrimp cocktail and anchovies as the table next to us had some that looked terrific. Everything was really good, but unfortunately I didn't get any photos as we had a ton of catching up to do. I did get photos of the desserts as we ordered two out of three. Both were absolutely perfect. The decor of the restaurant is nice with floor to ceiling windows facing 2nd Street. I will say, opt for a table away from the window when the sun is setting unless you've brought sunglasses. I'll definitely be returning.

I really wanted to like this place. I'd walked by several times and loved the interior design, and the videos on Instagram made it seem like such a great spot. I stopped in one evening by myself, ordered a glass of wine and the warm olives (which were delicious), and was looking forward to a relaxing night. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. The restaurant was packed, and the atmosphere felt more concerned with maintaining an image than making guests feel welcome. I understand some restaurants embrace a more reserved European style of service, but this came across as cold and pretentious rather than intentional hospitality. As a solo diner especially, I didn't feel acknowledged or valued as a guest. It also didn't help that the dining room had a noticeable body odor smell that took away from the experience. On a positive note, the bathroom was clean and beautifully designed. I originally thought this would become my go-to place to grab a glass of wine while waiting for a table at the ramen spot next door, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Reading through other reviews, it seems I'm not the only one who had this impression. Oakland's charm has always been its people. You can open a French-inspired wine bar, but hospitality translates into every language. If you're going to bring a Parisian aesthetic to Oakland, don't mistake indifference for sophistication. Guests should leave feeling welcomed, not judged.

I had a little board of brillant savarian triple cream and salchichon salami. What a treat! The service was unusual. Part of it is that it's a wine bar and shop. The person staffing the bar was really busy doing many different things. As that was the case, interacting felt a bit strained. At the same time, considering how much she had going on, she kept it together. I appreciated that she kept track of who was next. Something that stood out to me was how reasonably priced the wines are. Great "bang for the buck." I see myself being a regular.
