Salty Seal Brew was an okay stop during a busy travel day. We stopped in mainly to take a quick break, have a beer, and grab something to eat. The beer was cold, so that part was good. We ordered the chicken nachos, but they took forever to come out. When they finally arrived, they were okay, not bad, but nothing special either. It was fine for a brief stop and a little reset from the day, but I would probably keep expectations casual.

The service is TOP NOTCH, and our Waitress Bri waited on us hand and foot. My Wagyu smash burger was to die for. I will definitely be.

Fantastic service and delicious food. I got the smash burger and it was a 10/10. Ignacio was also amazing!

Went for my birthday and had terrible service and drinks!! Ordered two cocktails (la ida and another one can't remember the name) and an IPA. The cocktails were awful! One of them was supposed to have muddled strawberries and mint but it was like a WHOLE MINT PLANT and chunky old strawberries. Very inedible and gross, a straw was provided but impossible to drink. When asked for a it to be remade to replace at the beginning after looking at it and attempting to drink the waitress got very defensive and rude but we were so polite. So disheartening. There was also like flakes of what looked like eggshells at the bottom of my IPA. Really ruined our entire visit. The other cocktail was just so nasty. I will attach pictures. The bald bartender man with glasses was also so rude. Terrible customer service skills. DO NOT GO HERE. so outdated and gross.

Fairly unexpecting place in the cannery row area of Monterey. Not quite dingy enough to call it a dive bar, but it still gives off those "vibes". The live music on a Friday night was nice. Decent amount of food and drink options to come for a full meal, as long as you're in the mood for pub food, but also nice to come just for a couple drinks with friends. The outdoor area is small so if there's live music, it may get tight back there. The service is friendly but they get fairly busy on weekends so things may feel slow as you wait for your drink order. Kitchen stays open fairly late (I think around 10?). Pro tip: bring cash. They do accept cards but there will be a "non cash adjustment" of 3% added to your total if you chose to use plastic.

The food was really good the mozzarella sticks were good and the marinara sauce. My bread bowl was really good. And the Dark and stormy burger was ok. I wouldn't say worth that much money.. The service was good kind of quick and standoff he never even said what his name was. Would ask a question and then just leave. Kinda strange not very personnel or professional. The restaurant is cool has a nice feel the ambiance is good like a bar but the dining are is cozy love the seats.

We stopped in to the Salty Seal in the middle of a Monterey Aquarium trip. We were on a family tourism trip. The Salty Seal is a timeless seafood and other fare restaurant with outdoor seating. The food was excellent. I had fish and chips which I never order but did because it's the place to get it. Delicious. Kids had chicken and fries. Wife had them make a vegetarian dish with potato wedges. Service was excellent too. Ambiance is probably considered outdated by some. Gordon Ramsey may have them redo the furniture. But you want this. You need this in a cannery row traditional restaurant.

Went to Salty last night, love sitting at the back bar when Arie is working! Her customer service is amazing and she makes you feel so welcome. Not to mention she keeps the drinks flowing! She is the reason we keep coming back!!

Do they show all nfl games?

    Yes!

How many TVs do they have (couldn't find a picture to tell) and would this be a good spot for the NBA playoff games?

There are three different sections to the establishment. All of the sections have several TVs so it is a good place to watch any game on TV. There's even TVs on the outside patio.

I randomly found this spot on Yelp while I…read morewas searching for places to try since we were having a little getaway for NYE in Monterey. I was so thrilled to check this pub out especially with our doggie, Meatball the Bulldog! How perfect right? A Bulldog at The Bulldog Sports Pub. We snagged the last available booth, and it had crumbs on there. Not clean. SMH. I went to the bar to order some drinks for my boyfriend and me since he left his wallet in the car. It was raining that night, and we parked several blocks away. The service was okay. I remember the guy bartender said $29something, but then he charged me $30something. I got the Jalapeno Margarita while my boyfriend had the Tito's Mule. My drink was very sweet with a kick of jalapeno while his was pretty good. They had music playing. It seems that there is a modern jukebox where you can pay to pick a song. There was one pool table for people to play. So many people came up to pet Meatball and give him so much attention. He absolutely loved it! There was one guy who asked if he can say "Hi" to Meatball, and we said that it was okay like we normally do. This weirdo was basically making out with Meatball; not cool at all man. Then Meatball flipped on his back, and he was holding Meatball. My boyfriend told him to let go of Meatball. It was such an uncomfortable interaction. Not normal at all. He even said, "This is my NYE kiss!" SMDH. The guy sat down at a table that is across from us, and he kept looking at us. We quickly finished our drinks, and then we left to ring in the new year at our hotel lobby instead. We should have just hung out in our hotel lobby instead of going out; it was much better there.

She was very sweet, helpful and kind. Her attentiveness was appreciated as a she checked in with us often and consistently refilled our waters as need, which we love. She offered a delicious recommendation for my cocktail (Poblano Margarita) and allowed my husband to taste 2 different beers before deciding which one he wanted. The bar wasn't busy, so we were able to grab seats right in front of the TV, which made it the perfect place to catch the match. The bartender was super attentive while still giving us plenty of time to look over the menu without feeling rushed. We ordered a dirty martini and a spicy margarita, along with a half dozen oysters and the Margarita Flatbread to snack on. The oysters were fresh, large, and definitely the highlight of our meal. The flatbread was decent--it hit the spot, but I think it could have used a little more flavor to really stand out. The cocktails were well made and paired nicely with the food. One of the best parts of this spot is the location. The ocean views are beautiful, and from our seats at the bar we could even see otters swimming in the water, which made for such a fun dining experience.

Our waitress Rachel was great and took good care of us. We ordered the French dip (added Swiss, onions, and mushrooms) solid sandwich, though it could've used a touch more salt. The real star though, was the fish and chips. Genuinely some of the best I've ever had. Lightly battered, flaky, perfectly cooked. The vibe lands in that sweet spot of upscale casual without crossing into fine dining, comfortable but elevated. Highly recommend if you're passing through Carmel. We'll definitely be back.

The fish and chips is the ultimate meal. The burger was savory, soft and creamy just he right amount. It perfectly paired with the Talbott pinot noir they recommended. The only comment is make is the amount of French fries that were served with the burger. The plate was a lot larger looking because a sparse amount of fries was served alongside. Maybe add a little more next time just to balance it off. The servers/bartenders knew their stuff. They provided what they could in terms of what was popular and well liked. They said both items we ordered were the most popular. The fish and chips have won best fish and chips 3 years in a row. I would agree with this since I usually am not wowed with this dish. I couldn't resist ordering a dessert. The applied tart with vanilla ice cream was so satisfying. Overall service, food quality and experience was very good. If return over and over again for this same food and experience. If I could give 10 stars I would. Carmel and Brody's is a new destination.
