Salty Seal Brew was an okay stop during a busy travel day. We stopped in mainly to take a quick break, have a beer, and grab something to eat. The beer was cold, so that part was good. We ordered the chicken nachos, but they took forever to come out. When they finally arrived, they were okay, not bad, but nothing special either. It was fine for a brief stop and a little reset from the day, but I would probably keep expectations casual.

The food was really good the mozzarella sticks were good and the marinara sauce. My bread bowl was really good. And the Dark and stormy burger was ok. I wouldn't say worth that much money.. The service was good kind of quick and standoff he never even said what his name was. Would ask a question and then just leave. Kinda strange not very personnel or professional. The restaurant is cool has a nice feel the ambiance is good like a bar but the dining are is cozy love the seats.

Fairly unexpecting place in the cannery row area of Monterey. Not quite dingy enough to call it a dive bar, but it still gives off those "vibes". The live music on a Friday night was nice. Decent amount of food and drink options to come for a full meal, as long as you're in the mood for pub food, but also nice to come just for a couple drinks with friends. The outdoor area is small so if there's live music, it may get tight back there. The service is friendly but they get fairly busy on weekends so things may feel slow as you wait for your drink order. Kitchen stays open fairly late (I think around 10?). Pro tip: bring cash. They do accept cards but there will be a "non cash adjustment" of 3% added to your total if you chose to use plastic.

We stopped in to the Salty Seal in the middle of a Monterey Aquarium trip. We were on a family tourism trip. The Salty Seal is a timeless seafood and other fare restaurant with outdoor seating. The food was excellent. I had fish and chips which I never order but did because it's the place to get it. Delicious. Kids had chicken and fries. Wife had them make a vegetarian dish with potato wedges. Service was excellent too. Ambiance is probably considered outdated by some. Gordon Ramsey may have them redo the furniture. But you want this. You need this in a cannery row traditional restaurant.

Love the ambiance here. Drinks are great and beer is cold. Live music is always a plus as well.

Went to Salty last night, love sitting at the back bar when Arie is working! Her customer service is amazing and she makes you feel so welcome. Not to mention she keeps the drinks flowing! She is the reason we keep coming back!!

Do they show all nfl games?

    Yes!

How many TVs do they have (couldn't find a picture to tell) and would this be a good spot for the NBA playoff games?

There are three different sections to the establishment. All of the sections have several TVs so it is a good place to watch any game on TV. There's even TVs on the outside patio.

I was so thrilled to check this pub out especially with our doggie, Meatball the Bulldog! How perfect right? A Bulldog at The Bulldog Sports Pub. We snagged the last available booth, and it had crumbs on there. Not clean. SMH. I went to the bar to order some drinks for my boyfriend and me since he left his wallet in the car. It was raining that night, and we parked several blocks away. The service was okay. I remember the guy bartender said $29something, but then he charged me $30something. I got the Jalapeno Margarita while my boyfriend had the Tito's Mule. My drink was very sweet with a kick of jalapeno while his was pretty good. They had music playing. It seems that there is a modern jukebox where you can pay to pick a song. There was one pool table for people to play. So many people came up to pet Meatball and give him so much attention. He absolutely loved it! There was one guy who asked if he can say "Hi" to Meatball, and we said that it was okay like we normally do. This weirdo was basically making out with Meatball; not cool at all man. Then Meatball flipped on his back, and he was holding Meatball. My boyfriend told him to let go of Meatball. It was such an uncomfortable interaction. Not normal at all. He even said, "This is my NYE kiss!" SMDH. The guy sat down at a table that is across from us, and he kept looking at us. We quickly finished our drinks, and then we left to ring in the new year at our hotel lobby instead. We should have just hung out in our hotel lobby instead of going out; it was much better there.

It was for a group of seven (3 kids and 4 adults), and it was the perfect choice to make the day special. The restaurant is beautiful, and we loved the amazing views paired with lovely weather. We had to ask for directions once we arrived at the hotel, but it was worth finding. We also really appreciated the complementary valet parking for two hours with our reservation. The service was excellent -- our server was friendly, attentive, and really helped make the occasion feel memorable for the whole family. The food was tasty overall. We ordered the fish and chips, clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl, and the sea bass tacos. The clam chowder was delicious and paired wonderfully with the fresh sourdough, while the sea bass tacos were flavorful and a real highlight. The fish and chips tasted great with good seasoning and fresh fish, but it arrived a bit soggy by the time it reached our table. It was still enjoyable, though I wish it had been crispier. All in all, the food was good, the views and atmosphere were fantastic, and the excellent service made it a wonderful Father's Day lunch celebration. Highly recommended!

I didn't know that Schooner's was in the Monterey Plaza Hotel, so I did have to ask some directions as to how to get downstairs to the restaurant. Arriving a bit early, we did have to wait until our reservation time to order lunch instead of breakfast, but the hotel was quite nice, and we were able to sit on a bench overlooking Monterey Bay. When we were seated, we opted outside to get a nice view, and they do have heating lamps (that were even a little bit too warm) so don't worry about the breeze. I ended up getting the fish and chips, my wife got cioppino, and the little one got some buttered pasta off the kids menu. The fish and chips was amazing...so fluffy and flaky but also had a nice crisp on the outside - probably some of the best fish n chips that I've had! Our little one also enjoyed the pasta, which was basically spaghetti noodles with butter, and we were appreciative that she was given some crayons to entertain herself. Service was excellent as well. Overall, it was a rather fancy, but very nice lunch for the three of us, and I enjoyed being a little bit away from the busy wharf/Cannery Row to enjoy ourselves before the crowded aquarium. Highly recommend!

Yet the ambiance, service, and food are very good! I love the various aspects of the decor, as well. Other than parking challenges on a busy night in the downtown, we were lucky to get a table for 5 relatively quickly, as this place isn't that large, with some additional bar seating, and it seems very popular. 5:30 was a great time, as we watched the waiting line grow longer after we were seated. Our server, Michael J., did a great job of greeting us, providing menus, and taking initial drink orders while we decided what to try. We decided to try BBQ honey wings, fried artichoke hearts, and onion rings for appetizers. The main courses were two orders of kids' cheese pizza and tater tots, a small dinner salad, a cup of New England-style clam chowder, and a NY Steak sandwich. The food came in a reasonable time, with appetizers and salad first, then the rest. The apps were good, but the onion rings were a bit greasy. The honey wings were well-liked, as well as the artichoke hearts, which, strangely, were not oily like the onion rings. Yummy! The cheese pizzas paired with tater tots were certainly different, but the pizza was more like a reheated frozen pizza. The tots were okay. The NY Steak sandwich was good as well, with a side of steak fries - obviously! Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would definitely consider dining here in the future when in town.
