I stay at many many nice hotels around the country. Further, I own a Starwood Luxury Collection Hotel. This place is not a 5 star experience. It just does not feel exclusive. I come to Miami five or six times a year. For my money, I'd rather go back to the W, Setai, or Edition. The hallways smell really bad. The rooms are too spartan though the beds are comfortable. The worst part is sound. There is terrible sound attenuation. The elevator equipment sounds like it's right outside my door. Really awful. The food at the hotel is good. The service is good and lobby entertainment is great. Without this, I'd give them a 1 star. read more

I was at the 1 Hotel South Beach right after opening. The staff was fantastic! Especially at the front desk. I enjoyed the culture and beauty of the hotel. The rooms are very interesting with a peek-a-boo shower! The beach team is also very good as is the manager Kenny. My only issue was it's a little pricey, but worth it for the great location. read more

I stayed at the 1 hotel for one night and it was fantastic. The place is very spacious and the rooms are very clean and well designed. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. The location is perfect and the roof top is excellent. I highly recommend staying here and trying newest Tom Colicchio's restaurant - Beachcraft. Food is very fresh and super tasty! Trying way to hard with the menu. I appreciate a green menu but the whole invasive species menu was a disappointment. We ordered 5 rolls and they were small and unimaginative. The recommended CARP rolls were spiced well but the sushi was soggy and mushy. Overpriced and a hipster menu... Do yourself a favor, if you want to check out the scenery just order an overpriced drink... eat elsewhere. read more

I wish I could rate this hotel a ZERO star. Let me start by saying the hotel is beautiful, the renovations and changes from the old Gansevoort Hotel are AMAZING!!! But that glitters isn't gold! The service in this hotel was despicable! I am a Miami local and I rented a cabana yesterday to spend the day by the pool with my two year old son and a friend and her toddler daughter. The cabana was very comfortable and Cristina our cabana attendant immediately greeted us when we arrived around 11:1am. After our initial greet I never knew who our server was. After an hour of being in our cabana my son started getting a rash when I asked one of the attendants if they had a medical kit for topical Benadryl, she directed me to Walgreens across the street. No big deal my son dying of an anaphylactic shock is not her problem so I ran all the way to Walgreens. Around 12:30 pm we were ready to order our food. After asking several times for someone to take our order we finally had someone come by and get our order. We ordered the ceviche, an order of guac, the steak skewer, a side of fries and a bottle of champagne. I was impressed by the food, it was very good a rare thing when it comes to pool side food. Our food arrived around 1:15 pm, we fed the kiddos so that once we were done we could enjoy our champagne and grown up food unfortunately around 1:45 it started raining. We walked into our cabana hoping we could weather the storm in our private area to our surprise the cabana had no ceiling cover it was just a cloth covering the sun. As we were soaking under the cabana we started seeing all the attendants running around closing umbrellas and removing bed sheets from the beds around the pool but NO ONE insight to offer an umbrella or help to move to a safe place away from the rain. We had to use the wet towels to cover the kids and run to a covered sidewalk by the bathrooms to then go back to get all our bags. And still NO ONE offering help or concern for our now flooded champagne and ceviche. After 20 min of rain and still no attendant approaching us for help, I had to run through the rain again to the bar where all the attendants were hanging out safely from the rain while all the guest were getting soaked. At this pointing was done dealing with such horrible customer service and I asked the attendant, for Cristina our cabana attendants so that we could cash out for the cabana. No body offered an apology or any sort of sympathy for our ruined day at the pool instead they just swiped my card , a card which I had expressed was only for the cabana since my girlfriends were paying for the food and I was paying for the cabana. After pointing out the mistake to the attendant he rolled his and barked "well then lady what do you want?? I had no idea you didn't want to use your card" to which I replied that's why I asked for Cristina. At this point another attendant took over his name was Jay, I explained I was paying the cabana with my card and the food and drinks with another card. He never offered anything for our ruined food until my friend mentioned our ceviche and our champagne had been flooded. With an eye roll and a snarky attitude he responded by saying "I will remove the ceviche but I can't do anything about your champagne I can't go measure how much you drank out of the bottle." My eyes wanted to jump out of my head what type of an answer is that??? To make matters worst they couldn't find my card that I had handed over at the beginning of the day at which point I told him very sternly that he was giving me terrible customer service and that I did not appreciate his nasty attitude. His response was to tell me to get out the my cabana was already charged to my card that I was not a guest of the hotel!!!!!!!! I wanted to die!!!! Of course I left because I don't deal with stupid or disrespectful people but I AM NEVER GOING BACK EVERRRRR AGAIN!!!!! As I called the reservations lady as I was going out of the hotel to make sure they made the charge because I was not given a receipt or anything to sign. Turns out it was not charged and now I have to print and sign and send back the receipt!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Worst experience ever!!! If you are looking for good service I suggest to try The Standard, The Thompson, W hotel or Fontainebleau around the area, I've had excellent experiences at those hotels! 1 read more

We had lunch today, and it was disappointing to say the least. We started with lukewarm water, and we asked for ice at least three times, but it never came. I had a glass of rose' and, besides not being cold enough, it wasn't particularly good either. My husband had a burger, and it sat like a brick on his stomach for the rest of the day. My chicken skewer was big enough to feed an anorexic 6-year old. The chips that came with the guacamole were harder than concrete, the guac wasn't bad, but certainly not memorable. Our friends had the shrimp skewer that appeared decent, but appetizer size as well. All of this scrumptious lunch with two beers, a glass of wine and a mojito was $200, before tip. I don't mind paying, but it has to be good, this just wasn't. I understand that they just opened, and they need to get their act together but the menu needs serious improving. At the moment, it looks like they're counting on people being so absorbed by the view that they forget to eat. read more

We came here because of their high rating reviews, staying for 2 nights in a one bedroom suite, nice room and clean, beautiful and modern design. After taking a break we came to the pool around 6 asking for some towels but they ran out all towel and pool service close at 6 (but pool and bar still open, wth?) we have to walk back to our room soaking wet. Evening we call down and ask for extra blanket for our son, being told the blanket will be up soon, after 3 hours still not get the blanket. Next day we went to the pool around 4pm asking for towels then they said no more seat and bed so they dont provide towel (wtf?) but when walking around we saw some chairs not in used. Why are there so many problem with the service at the pool in this hotel?? We travel a lot and never have any problem like this, even this single trip we been stayed in 6 different hotels from standard inn to luxury resort, and very happy with their service. Even we really like the way this hotel look but will never come back here in future. Not worth paying 1k+ to stay at this hotel at all. We will stay in Setai next time since that is our first decision. (We change to 1 Hotel because of the pool....) but all that not worth anymore. Feeling kinda regret somehow.:(( read more

i just have to say wow! I'm surprised to see any poor reviews from this Hotel. My boyfriend and I went for the day to south beach from fort lauderdale. Feeling spontaneous we decided to check out some hotels. This being one of them on our list. When we arrived we walked around and decided to look no further and stay. It is absolutely breath taking to start with. Everywhere you go in this resort is really exceptional. All the hotel staff that we came in contact with from the time we arrived to our departure provided us with awesome service. let me give a shout out to Kyle at check in who I can't say enough about. With Kyle's vibe and kind fun spirit, I new I was off to a incredible time. My room was upgraded to the most beautiful One bedroom Suite. After a short visit with Kyle I felt welcomed and cared for. This put us in a great mood from the start. Thanks kyle! After checking out our gorgeous (upgraded for no fee) room. I made a drink. I ordered some cranberry juice that was not provided in the fridge for mixing vodka. they brought it right up and WHAT?? free of charge to mix a drink. The triple distilled water, so cool, healthy and free of charge. With this hospitality I did not feel like they were taking advantage of my funds, I felt like they wanted to make sure I was happy all the way through. The 1 Hotel is a innovative, Fresh, healthy, Natural, beautiful and sexy Resort. I loved how health conscious the resort is. It shows from the drinking water, Shampoo, tooth paste, on and on everywhere you look you are reminded they care for your health. The hotel has innovative technology. The elevator touch screens and smart phones that were in the rooms were awesome and creative. Everything was fresh clean comfort. The rooftop pool was one of the most gorgeous views i have ever seen. Everywhere in this Hotel was plush and best part for me is that I would have expected a snobby feel but It was just the opposite. The vibe was really great. It took me about 2 weeks to pick a hotel to stay at in Miami, and I could not have been more satisfied! The property was beautiful! All of the spaces were clean and gorgeous. The room was very very clean and felt luxurious. I am a fairly picky person, and have asked at other properties to move rooms, so I was so excited when we walked in and everything was to my liking! The staff never missed an opportunity to ask me how I was enjoying my stay. They did a pretty good job at always remembering our names, and made themselves memorable with excellent service. The food was delicious, and room service was very quick. The pools were great, we spent the majority of our time split between the beach and the upstairs (adults only) pool. The gym was as good as a hotel gym could possibly be, with someone on hand to help you, nice equipment, and again, CLEAN. The majority of people staying at the hotel seemed to be about my age or a little older (31), some with and some without their kids. The adult pool upstairs let us get away from the noise of families, but I would have felt comfortable anywhere. At night there was music and drinks on the roof, which felt fun and romantic, without the South Beach night club crazy. Drinks are pretty pricey, but it seems that is how it is at any hotel in Miami. I picked this hotel to have a romantic, kid free, week with my husband, and I got just that! I would HIGHLY recommend 1 Hotel! read more

I dont know why this place has such good reviews. Came here, super expensive. Food was decent at best, drinks were weak, and i left hungry enough to go to a subway. Stopped by other places earlier in the day on the boardwalk and they had way better food and drinks. read more

We stayed here in May for 5 days. Lovely hotel with very interesting decor. The rooms are huge and very comfortable. Super clean. The service in this hotel is flawless. Even though they were newly opened and there were kinks, we can not complain about anything. The bar at the lobby has some of the best drinks that I have ever tried. read more

Fantastic stay at 1 Hotel South Beach. Absolutely loved the decor and the environmentally friendly accommodations. I would have given 5 stars, however we had to wait until almost 6pm to check in because our room wasn't ready, and check in is supposed to be at 4. However, the concierge did buy my husband and I a round of drinks for the inconvenience, so I really appreciated that touch. Overall, great stay! Check out the rooftop adults only pool and bar. I call to make my reservation for 5.The girl told me "nobody under 21, it is a bar and we have a DJ".OK.Then I call back to cancel because a young relative was finally coming.When I told the reason, the new girl told me there was no restriction.But she didn't find my reservation (!?) So we make it again for 6."we only keep the table 15mn". Whaouh they are so busy.We weren't late , there was maybe only 10 customers but our table was not not ready...Then it was done slowly and in a such stupid way that I have to ask an other table..We tried everything on the menu "Miami Spice" nothing was good except the mussels and the fries.The 2 desserts were impossible to eat.Cake with banana and sort of bubble gum sauce (beurk) and Churros with acid key lime pie sauce inside covered by red pepper (??!!).We ordered 2 expressos.There was vinegar in the coffee ! We call the waitress.She told us :" I know, we just clean the machine".We asked for 2 cups with only coffee.They came with vinegar too.We ask for the check.The waitress says:" don't worry, I didn't charge the 4 coffees".All the people working there are young, not professional and not happy to work here.We didn't see any manager this night.Then we wait 7 mn the elevator to go downstair and 25 minutes our car at the valet. read more

Really the worst hospitality & customer service I have ever experienced at any hotel in the world. When we turned up, the staff made a hard sell on a "very large" more expensive "upgraded suite" with ocean views. Warily we accepted. They assured us, that if we didn't like it, we could always have the room we already booked and paid for. So.. the "suite" was not a suite at all and the ocean view was partial at best. It was dark, bare, and lacked many of the basic amenities you'd expect of even the most basic accommodation. The room had lamps without bulbs, closets without any shelves/drawers/ way to hang clothing, and a bathroom without any toiletries and a handicap shower you'd have to crouch down in to use. It was when we called to say we didn't want the room that things got really bad. We were told the room was not ready. While we waited at the lobby bar, the staff were inexplicably rude. 4pm check in came and went. It was clear that we were not the only ones waiting; there were a number of families camped out in the lobby waiting for their rooms. When we went to the desk to see what was up we waited 45 mins in line whilst people angrily shouted about the service. After getting close to the desk I could hear staff frantically trying the same up-selling we had encountered when we arrived. Finally we were able to speak to someone and were told that they were completely oversold and the room we had booked (and had been waiting for) wasn't even available. I asked to cancel my reservation and the manager looked relieved and said no problem. I was told that my reservation was canceled but when I asked for a receipt or printed confirmation, I was told it was not possible. After insisting, they side that the best they could do was to take a picture of their screen with my phone.... This was the most unprofessional and bizarre hotel experience ever. read more

Extremely subpar for all the hype. First, I was staying with my 2 sisters in a room with double beds and there was no door for the bathroom. We called and someone called back stating the last person in the room had broken the glass door and they had yet to get it replaced. Gross. The person we spoke with said there were no other available rooms, but they would speak with the manager. We never heard back.  I'm not sure how a hotel thinks it's ok to give a room with no bathroom door, but they did. Second, the doors are extremely thin so you can hear anyone in the hall. Not exactly relaxing. The service at the restaurants in the hotel are subpar. The system they have in the entrance with the car is not working either. There always seems to be a traffic jam in the front. With all of that, the view from our room was very nice. The pool and beach area are beautiful, but this is something that is common in most other nice hotels in South beach. Needless to say, I wouldn't stay here again. read more

My fiancé and I stayed here a few weeks ago, tried to contact hotel twice about this unfortunately no response. To start, this was my first time staying here and my first experience at this hotel. On the day of check in there was a mixup with the room reservation so we had to purchase a smaller room at a higher rate. Room was fine, next day we were "upgraded" to room 835. First of all this isn't even a room that should be sold. The door directly in front of the room is a maintenance/housekeeping room where staff come in and out, making noise and holding disturbing conversation all day long. It was so noisy , had to open the door and ask to keep it down. Every morning, beginning at approximately 6:30am a loud construction or vacuuming noise came from either the hallway or above the room, so loud it woke us both up. We couldn't even get a good night sleep or sleep in because of the noise! I called on Sunday morning to say something, was put on hold, transferred twice and hung up on. Finally we decided to hang out on the balcony or leave the room as we could not go back to sleep with the disturbing noise. On Sunday I ordered breakfast from in room dining and we ate outside on the balcony. My fiancé forgot his plate outside when we finished eating, I called before we went down to the pool and asked for the room to be serviced. When we got back to the room we were extremely disappointed. My fiancé and I took pictures as we really couldn't believe that after charging $700-$800 for a one night stay your house keeping is less than satisfactory. The sheets were dirty, towels were not folded properly, the body wash was empty and not refilled, there was hair in the shower, the toilet had not been cleaned, the towel on the floor by the shower was not changed and was still wet from when I took a shower before I left the room, the TV was on, the remote for the tv was left outside, and the bed was barely made, not tucked in and sloppily straightened. I was going to leave it alone until we checked out, because I certainly was not going to leave the room after I wanted to relax and nap since I didn't sleep in the morning to have house keeping come by and fix what they should have done properly to begin with. When I became extremely irate, is the next morning, we found that the entire breakfast food and leftover plates and cups were left outside from the previous day breakfast!! There were birds, bugs, ants everywhere! The housekeeping team must not have even bothered to check or clean the balcony and we had a disaster out there the next morning. Overall this experience was horrible for me, from the room being in front of the janitor closet or housekeeping room, to poor housekeeping and the loud noise.. it truly took away from how nice and savvy the hotel has the potential to be. At the rate people pay to stay in this hotel, we expect an impeccable stay. The service, or lack of ruined it. I emailed the hotel twice and even spoke to manager Robert who NEVER even bothered to email or call me back after I told him we had a horrible stay, he instead blamed it all on their "management rearrangements" which clearly reflect on the poor management and service. read more

The hotel is very nice, specially the lobby, I know this because I've been staring at it for the past 4 hours and our room isn't ready yet, even though they told us during check-in that it would be ready before 16:00. We just arrived from Brazil, so we are VERY tired and everytime we go to the front desk to ask how much longer it will take, they say something different. The first time they said the room was already cleaned and they were waiting for the supervisor to check it. Almost 4 hours later we found out the room isn't even clean yet and they don't know what to do. So I just wasted half of my day in the lobby instead of going out.. We also decided to eat and nobody knows where the restaurants are. Terrible service!! read more

Had a very pleasant stay at the 1 Hotel for a weekend trip to Miami. The rooms are huge (I believe smallest room is 700 sq ft) and well renovated. The grounds and pools are beautiful. While they are still working out some kinks (the hotel just recently opened), the staff does make a concerted effort to accommodate guests concerns. I was impressed and am already reserved to return this fall. read more

This review is not for the hotel but for the spa . The spa looked like they taken 6 balcony hotel rooms in a row and made them massage rooms. There's no locker room that I knew of or sauna or anything for that matter. i went with my boyfriend for a couples massage. When we got there we went into this tiny room with a desk and Apple computer where the lady checked us in. She asked if we wanted water and gave us water straight from the sink, then asked what massage we were getting after we already booked it on the phone that day. Then she takes us to the balcony and walks us to this side door where the room is. We had arrived 30 mins early to go enjoy the nonexistent locker room and sauna before the massage but that didn't happen. So we go straight to the massage room which looks like a hotel room with two beds. Massage wasn't bad but the a/c kept switching on an off and made a really loud noises. They only had one robe for a couples massage and the bathroom toilet wasn't flushed from the people before us . Don't go here there are so many other nice spas on the beach read more

From the moment you step into the eco friendly lobby and smell the bamboo, you know you are in for a treat. We started our day pool-side in the downstairs area known as the "sand box." We were instantly greeted the moment we stepped in and shown to our beach front cabana. This is when we met - Eloy. He was to be our friendly server/ exceptional bartender with a great disposition that only added to the experience. Even the straws here are eco-friendly and the food was fantastic - had the guacamole, ceviche, shrimp skewers, and the churros!!! Ohh and the best part - the frozen drinks - absolutely yummy and surprisingly affordable. Then, the manager, Jay, stopped by to make sure everything was up to par - Talk about getting spoiled!! He explained all the amenities the hotel had to offer and told us about the roof top pool were we welcomed the sunset. Had a great time with my girlfirends and definitely plan on going back.
