We came here after hearing it was really close to the beach and it did not disappoint. What a great place to relax and feel the ocean breeze! Our friend was visiting and went with my husband to check out the ocean while I grabbed a seat. Vanessa welcomed me right away and told me I could sit wherever I liked, which was such a nice touch. A gentleman came over soon after to let me know they would be right with me, and it felt good to be noticed right away. Vanessa was cheerful and made me feel comfortable the whole time. This is a pool side restaurant that should just be a bar. I went for the raw bar but should have left when the only answer about the oysters was that they were raw and east coast - nothing about where. I eat raw oysters at least every other week. They arrived drier than any oysters I have ever had and lacking in flavor. For the first time I considered leaving some uneaten. I also ordered a caesar salad, thinking that would make a good dinner. Anchovies were listed as an ingredient which bodes well for a caesar. I received a side salad instead of a dinner salad, which in retrospect I was grateful for because it was lackluster. I wasn't drinking so I can't comment on the cocktails. Service was fine for me but I overheard a Karen complaining. read more

I was in Miami for a conference this week and decided to rent a convertible and adventure out for some lunch on the beach. Bungalow by the Sea is a secluded beach amid hatch topped cabanas situated right in front of the Cadillac Hotel on Miami Beach. I went for brunch around 2:00, was seated quickly. There was a DJ playing some really fabulous music. I ordered a pina colada that came served in a pineapple decorated with umbrellas and pineapple chunks. Was very tasty. For lunch I ordered the brisket which was served with potato salad and elote. The brisket had a great flavor and the barbecue sauce was tangy. The elote was spicy and delicious. Potato salad had a nice counterbalance to the spice of the elote, garnished with spicy pickles. The environment was laid back and chill and I really enjoyed my time there. I walked through the Cadillac hotel, the bar and lobby are high-end, chic and classic. I highly recommend checking out bungalow by the sea when you are in Miami Beach! read more

I love this place for so many reasons. The cheese burger is out of this world, with its red onion jam and secret sauce and the tuna poke bowl is the best in town. We love sitting at the bar and interacting with the staff who are always super friendly and attentive. But the biggest reason we keep coming back is the way Bruno makes us feel like we are part of the family and always remembers our name. A great experience. I HIGHLY recommend the lobster rolls, so delicious. We had the shrimp tacos & coconut shrimp for lunch. the shrimp tacos were good but a tad salty & the coconut shrimp was decent although I wish they gave a sweet chili sauce. Traditionally, coconut shrimp has a sweet sauce not spicy mayo or whatever they served with it. To me, it threw off the flavors of it. But it was still not bad. I would highly recommend this spot! My wife and I split the lobster pizza, guac and chips, and the fish tacos! Everything was so good! The Lobster pizza really surprised me, I didn't think it was going to be as good as it was! The guac was so fresh it was perfect! The fish tacos just really hit the spot! I've tried a few different pool restaurants at different hotels in Miami Beach, and Bungalow is one of the good ones! We ordered the fried calamari and the asian salad with (sub) grilled chicken instead of fried. Both meals were tasty, and fresh- we would order again. The drinks were tasty and strong, pricey but that aligns with other hotels in the area. I was hunting for lunch and had literally walked 2 miles from my AirBnB before I found a place that actually had a view of the water and was open to the public. That was how I came to find Bungalow. I nabbed a spot at the bar. Lots of seating options and the vibe was loose and happy. After a few minutes wait, the bartender handed me a menu. When I ordered an ice tea, I detected a moment of disappointment on his part -- "darn, he's probably thinking...she's not going to be a big tab with lotsa cocktails." But, hey, it was lunch and I didn't feel like drinking. Doesn't make me a bad person. After consulting the menu -- and a fellow diner who apparently was a regular at Bungalow -- I decided to order the Jerk Chicken Caesar Wrap...with fries. The meal arrived faster than I expected. The fries were fresh and crispy...as it turned out, by far the best part of the meal. The wrap...eh, not a fan. It arrived looking very appetizing, in a green tortilla, plenty of chicken and veg. But, frankly, if you had told me it was something other than chicken, like, say tuna, I could have believed it. Way to "pre-chewed" in texture and had virtually no flavor. While I questioned what hummus was doing in the wrap when I ordered it, I really didn't like it in the wrap when it arrived. It just made the lack of texture in the sandwich even worse. Originally I had planned to eat half the wrap and take the rest back with me for later. No thanks... The service was disappointing. The bar was not overly busy that I could see and there were two bartenders working it. I had to ask for an ice tea refill twice, and for a lid three times because I wanted to take it to-go. I also worked very hard to close out my tab, but, I guess since I was just an ice-tea drinker and not a boozer, my priority dropped. The two men at the end of the bar, who had three actual drinks in the time it took me to finish my iced tea got great attention. I'd like to think it was just a coincidence, but, it didn't look like it. Bottom line: 4+ stars on the location, 3 on the food, 3 on the service. read more

Interestingly, inside of this storied hotel in Miami and Bungalow By The Sea, there appeared another highly memorable combination. Relaxing by the swimming pool on a sunny Miami afternoon and enjoying some spectacular lobster rolls. As the main poolside and bar option for food inside the Cadillac. bungalow delivers. Wonderfully fried crispy calamari, brioche lobster rolls that get a very good proportion of lobster to bread, fresh salad with crab. The alcohol options are very reasonably priced and spread out also, with some decent wines and Moët for $95, which cuts in at about a fair double of retail value. Service is generally good and waiters are pleasant. There is also a cozy area with tables and a bar. The drinks at the bar are not the highlight and some of the service there is a bit lackluster (one one occasion, 5 employees by the bar and nobody paying attention to the guest). Despite that, for a poolside dining option, Bungalow is an excellent spot. And absolutely, lobster rolls are a must. read more
