We waited for an hour. For 2 sandwiches. I got a half 16 and ordered mayo, didn't get the mayo, the sandwich had barely any lettuce in it, barley onion, and far too much meat and cheese. The bread tastes like plain chemically white bread. It was like eating a provalone brick with a little lettuce and oil. Do not eat here. I ordered the ribeye sandwich and it barely had any meat on it. If you are going to serve it on a roll this large, you need to have meat on the whole thing. This is one of my must stop at restaurants in Youngstown when I visit. I always get the same sub lol. I have a seven with banana peppers and pickles. My triumphant return to The Sandwich Factory! I haven't been here in forever. We moved out of area and it isn't convenient. But we swung by recently and the high quality hasn't changed. They were in the midst of training new staff. This is the new, post-covid reality. But it delayed our order significantly and I had to correct the trainer since she gave the trainee the wrong instructions on my picky wife's sandwich. We brought 'em home. I got a giant Italian (Number 16) and it was enough for two lunches. Delicious! My pic doesn't do it justice. The bread & toppings were fresh, the meat was zero percent slimy & bursting with flavor. We make it an active effort to get Sandwich Factory whenever we're in town, and while things did change staffwise and such, the sandwiches remain amazing. Maybe a bit pricey, but definitely great quality. The booths inside are not great for bigger people. Get it to go, but again, just the best sandwiches. read more

I grew up on sandwich factory pretty much all my life, home visiting family and was so excited to get a sub after a few years and at the counter were met with a impatient nasty older lady with grayish blonde hair , with dark rim glasses. She rushed us through our order and didn't even give us a chance to look at the menu. We were the only ones in line. She's standing there snapping her gum And chewing it with her mouth open. Definitely will not be returning such a disappointment. I remember this place use to be about family and being happy and they have miss miserable at the front line and it's sad. I grew up on Sandwhich Factory. Its always been a family favorite. That's why I'm so sad to say how disappointed i am in the service i got there today. Being back in town for the holidays, we chose to stop. We called ahead for our order and the girl that took my order was super rude. Her attitude was like i was putting her out by placing an order. Then when we got there to pick it up, the rude attitude continued, as if they were put out. We did not order anything fancy. Didn't realize when you order a chicken tender sub that that's all I'd be getting. Where's my lettuce, tomato and mayo that should be on there. Seriously you had one job to do. The prices have gone up drastically and people are spending their hard earned money, the least you could do is get it correct. This place is kind of a hot mess. The space itself is very small and it was packed with people. If a business wants to not require masks anymore, that's fine, but you can't really have that when there is literally no way for people to keep distance if they need to. Everyone was elbow-to-elbow, with people waiting around for orders, and trying to figure out where the line was so they could place an order. The people taking orders were impatient and lacking any kind of customer service. To be fair, despite the amount of people, they kept things moving at a decent pace. When I finally got my order, they called out from the other end of the store. Between all the people, the distance, and the fact I'm hearing impaired, I didn't hear them right away. So, when I *did* hear it being called, I was greeted by an employee giving me a nasty look and nothing said before huffing themselves away. I guess a simple "have a nice day" or "thank you for coming" is too much. The last thing I'll say is that you can't put a sign on your door welcoming service dogs, and then yell at a handler for their dog tasking (doing a task they are trained to perform). It's not only ignorant, it's against federal law. After I explained he was tasking, I was given a nasty look, but they dropped it, at the very least. Still, it was uncalled for. If you're putting up a sign like that, I expect your staff to be trained in proper SD etiquette. The sign was the whole reason I gave this place a try, in fact (a family member sent me a picture of it). Just an epic fail. Sorry, not sorry. At the end of the day, the food was good. We have been eating here for years and over the past few years the service has been fine until tonight. Tonight I called at 715 for a order and they said 25 min, when my wife went to get it at 805, they were closed. She was only late because of a car accident that slowed her down for 10 min. The other workers were pretty young, I noticed them touching their face with their gloves while making subs. Food wise, the Philly cheesesteak was mediocre. Everything was well cooked but it was missing that flavor/pizzazz that makes a cheesesteak a Philly. The veal Parmesan had a really nice flavor and was also well cooked. This place is great. The size in which you get for your dollar is really good. I eat a lot and sometimes I don't finish the 14 inch sub. I have tried the Italian and the Turkey sub. Both which are really good. My favorite part about this place in the bread though. Its soft and just blends together with whatever sandwich/sub you get and surprisingly not that messy. Got the Philly cheesesteak which is the Ribeye Steak for $5.25. Got the half. They didn't offer a giant size. I didn't like it. It was bland. Absolutely had no taste. The meat was cooked well tho. Also tried their Veal Parmesan for $4.50. That one is half size as well. It was weird. Wasn't a fan of it. It was like some soggy patty that was fried. The service is quick. My sandwich was pretty good, and it was definitely huge. I had the "small" with salami, ham, and provolone, and it's probably the most food I've ever gotten for $3.70. The counter girl was friendly and helpful but the older lady in the kitchen was surly. If I ask "Are their large pieces of tomatoes in your sauce?" Don't scowl at me and say "Of course there's tomatoes...it's tomato sauce." Lady...have you heard of pizza sauce? Sadly, the Sandwich Factory has gone the way of every other mediocre sub shop and replaced the meatball patties with the normal round shaped meatballs. In addition to letting less meat with actual meatballs as opposed to the meatball patties, there is no longer any reason for me to go to the Sandwich Factory. A half a #9 with provolone was the only sandwich I ever got. You could guarantee they made the meatball patties, because nobody else had them. Now they probably buy the meatballs from a food service so they don't have to make them. Cheap ingredients equals worse sandwiches. After at least 40 years of serving meatball patties, as I can recall getting them when I was in middle school and high school, the Sandwich Factory is one less place I will stop when I visit Youngstown. Honestly. I want to love this place so badly. I have no idea why I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. Something about a fresh sub at a local spot I think is what it is. This is the 4th time I have asked for no onions, and they keep putting onions on. I don't understand how I say please no onions, annoy the cashier by saying no onions a second time and still...I get onions. The first time I drove back to get it fixed. This is a classic sandwich place in the area. They keep it simple, delicious, and huge. 1 sub could feed a family of four. It's also a great lunch spot, but it gets busy at that time so be sure to order ahead and pick it up. They have great smaller sandwiches as well one of my favorites is the Reuben. The fries are delicious as well as the fried cheese balls. I am never disappointed here. Even when they are busy they keep everything moving fast. It's amazing what 2 extra inches can do! (that's what she said!) By no means do they skimp on the sandwich content either. I've never had a bad experience here and I've been getting sandwiches from here since before i even knew where it was. My dad would always bring them home for dinner on random nights when I was a kid. The sandwiches are just as awesome now as they were back then. The appetizers are good.
