    Original Cheesesteak Meal
    Daniel C.

Jersey Joe's has been around for a long time. Last time I was here was three years ago. The restaurant has been remodeled, but the menu is still the same. I like the ability to either order on-line or the self service kiosk. I ordered the cheesesteak, and my other half ordered the cheesesteak with peppers. We also ordered a side of garlic parmesan cheese fries. Something about comfort food. It brings you back. Even though the restaurant has been remodeled, the food is still just as good as I remembered when I first came here 15 years ago.

If you have a craving for a philly cheesesteak, this is the place that will satisfy your craving! Came here for an early dinner, not a lot of people there. Ordering was a bit difficult due to a language barrier with the cashier. Inside the restaurant felt like an upscale pub without the bar. The food was great, packed with meat as you can see, and the garlic parmesan fries were so good! Coming back when I have another craving for a philly cheesesteak!

I walked in. Fresh remodel, looks like they want to be the next chipotle or to start franchising the place. Logo, kiosk system, everything is brand new... the first thing I noticed though is that either my bread was not toasted or it was a whole new bread. I simply didn't like or remembered this staple. Still a decent cheesesteak, but I also been to Philadelphia and have had like 6 different ones.... Just didn't hit the same as this is a San Mateo county staple in my opinion.

The best Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches so far! After going here for YEARS, years ago. We were in search of the best cheesesteak place and still haven't compared to Joe's. We always come back. We are still looking for another with the same size, quality, quantity, taste and price just to look...haha. Been to Philadelphia already where the best Philly's are but still not the same. I still love Joe's Zucchini sticks and even their fries. We sometimes, order it to go but it's just not the same. It's always best to order and eat everything there. I didn't go here for a bit and they finally did a nice makeover with more tables, some high tables but with those metal square chairs. Not the most comfy but it's not for you to linger all day. It's their statement of get out of their; we gotta serve the other folks! Haha Comfortable and modern. They now offer wines, other beers, hard seltzers and other beverages like Starbucks, tea, milk, water, etc. They also have cold salads and coleslaw, too. The other menu items they had are still the same but I notice the $3 milkshake and now have happy hour prices during the weekday on beer and fries; not bad. Service is still good and friendly. Pretty fast on their service as they make it hot and fresh for you. Will be going here for years to come and have brought others. They love it, too. There is another location in Half Moon Bay but too far. Totally recommend this place [43R,2024]

I used to love coming to Jersey Joe's until they put in these stupid touch panel things now it takes 10 minutes to order a sandwich. They also only serve wooden utensils. Been coming to Jersey Joe's for 20 years. This will be the last time ever.

My dad was a big fan of Jersey Joe's, and since he passed away I come here sometimes to have his favorite cheesesteak. They recently remodeled and it looks great! The staff members are also much friendlier now and I love the sign they have that reminds people to be nice. The wait usually isn't too long and there is plenty of parking. The cheesesteaks are good! I haven't been to Philadelphia so I can't speak to how authentic they are, but they are yummy!

Who goes to the Philly cheesesteak place and get a hamburger, me... I really don't know what I was thinking, but that hamburger was pretty damn good. Next time I'll ask for it to be medium, because they will prepare it well. Other than that, I got their Parmesan garlic fries that were OK and a can of Pilsner. The place has about three kiosks that I think they prefer you order on, but you can order at the counter. The guy that took my order was friendly enough and my order was ready in about 15 minutes. I kinda like the place. It seems like a good place to watch a game. Next time I come by, I will definitely pick up a Philly cheesesteak.

Found ourselves in this area at an off time not quite dinner but after lunch on a Sunday when most places were closed, and this was one of the few places open, luckily I adore Philly cheesesteaks. This has a sports bar kinda vibe with a lot of giant tv screens, a darkish atmosphere with booths, casual with a largish menu. We got their sandwich with melted cheese, a basic, and it was edible, decent, but can't crow too much more than that about it. Their fries were good. Slathered it in mustard, and kept the hunger at bay. The service was super friendly and efficient, it's an order at the counter, grab a seat, they call your name and you pick it yup. It's in a strip mall, so parking is easy and free. The prices are good and portions large enough to share many times over. We saw many families go in, seeming to be a popular place among locals.

Something has changed here with Jersey Joes. I like the remodeling they have done but the cheese steak hoagie I got did not look or taste anything like the photo for my initial review. The chicken was diced/cubes instead of small strips resulting in not being grilled on all sides, cheese not being evenly distributed and bread tasting different - resulting in different taste overall. I hope that's not the case for other meats but I can't say as I always got chicken over all these years. I was genuinely saddened by this experience. :(

Monster Cheesesteak - Ribeye, White American Cheese, Grilled Onions, Mushrooms, Sweet Peppers, Hot Peppers, and Bacon with Fries

I'm not going to lie - my trip to Jersey Joe's was probably one of the most conflicting, back and forth experiences I've had in a while. For one, after passing by here a number of times over the years, it looked like nothing like what I remembered seeing before (arguably an improvement, depending on your flavor). More broadly, our visit got off to an odd, awkward start and yet, it probably ended up helping things turn out for the best! Which, in the end, has me now thinking about when I just might be coming back! Based on what I had seen the times I passed by in the parking lot and the photos I had seen on Yelp, I stepped into Jersey Joe's expecting to see a homely, mom-and-pop type of cheesesteak shop. Instead, the place looks like it's been freshly remodeled, with a far more modern and trendy-ish decor (with a huge TV, I might add). For a hot second, I was worried that the menu had also been changed, as I stepped in already knowing what I wanted to get, but their slate of cheesesteaks looked unchanged. In fact, if anything, it seems like it may have grown, as they now have grilled sandwiches and chicken tenders to go with their cheesesteaks, burgers, fish & chips, and sides. Even though their Original and Jersey Joe's cheesesteaks are listed as their recommended options, I couldn't resist the urge to go with their MONSTER CHEESESTEAK ($15.95 for original), which comes with Ribeye, White American Cheese, Grilled Onions, Mushrooms, Sweet Peppers, Hot Peppers, and Bacon, and made it a combo with a Soda and Fries for $5 more. Now, when I say this was beefy, I mean this was BEEFY. Not only was there a lot of meat, though, there was a good amount of bacon, mushrooms, and peppers. Plus, there the cheese melted throughout, which created a near creamy texture that tasted oh so good, and the bread was just about perfect (soft and slightly airy). The fries weren't bad either, though it needed a bit more salt and some pieces were weren't very crispy. As for the awkward start that I had mentioned, it stemmed from the worker telling me that I could only order to-go, as they were already starting to shut down for the night. Mostly because he didn't say anything until I had already started to pay, but also because it was about 30 mins before their listed closing hour. What's more, they still seemed to be getting a lot of business, as someone came in to order after me and a few other folks walked in to pick up their online orders/deliveries (another person got turned away as I was leaving). All that being said, it worked out anyways, as I was already planning on ordering to-go, and even if I wasn't, I still would've needed a box for my leftovers (I could only eat half of my order). Regardless of how my meal went down, there's little doubt in my mind of how good Jersey Joe's cheesesteaks are. Plaza Gourmet in Foster City has historically been my favorite, but it looks like they might need to make some space! FOUR AND A HALF STARS rounded up - I'll most definitely be back!

I like jersey joes. quality cheesesteaks. probably the best you will find out of the east coast. they are very friendly - customer seems to be king/queen. the atmosphere is fun - they have good beers. the only down fall is location but i would say it's worth the drive. give it a shot - good solid place to eat. the bay fries are good too.

I've tried going here before, but I guess they were possibly closed for remodel? We went here, and it was pretty packed. It looked like half the store was closed off for remodel? They have eating areas outside and inside.   The lady who took my order was nice and helpful. There were so many items to choose from I didn't know where to start.     We ordered: 1. Mozzarella sticks - Super fresh, and it had great cheese pull. 2.  Original cheesesteak combo - Had to start off with the classic. It was piping hot and fresh.  The bread was so fluffy, and the meat and cheese just melted in your mouth.  Don't judge me, but it reminded me of a fresh fluffy meat and cheese piroshki. Some people might call it blasphemy, but that's what it reminds me of.   We had it with garlic french fries that were nice and crispy. 3. BBQ  Beast Burger - You can order this in a single or a double.  This is not your ordinary bacon western cheeseburger. It is SO SO much more!!! The thick pieces of bacon with the ginormous onion rings. Smackin.. perfect ratio of patty and toppings. For this one, we got the Island Bacon Bliss Fries. I can only tell you it had cheese and bacon. I'm not sure what else, but it was yummy goodness. The lady who took my order recommended this. They charge extra for dips, but I need me my ranch. I can't wait to go back and try the mac n cheese, fish sticks and fries, and milkshakes. Highly recommend! They need to refill their sodas, though there were a lot that were not available.

I plan to take this out but it's an hour away. How can I reheat the cheesesteak when I get home?

I usually buy mine the night before and save it for lunch the next day. I warm it up for about 45 seconds in the microwave. You can always ask the servers at Jersey Joes if they have any suggestions they are all nice employees here

Why is the pepper cheesesteak missing from the menu?

It is not missing. Sweet pepper cheesesteak or hot pepper cheesesteak comes with steak, onions (option) and sweet pepper / hot pepper. As you can see our menu, you can just add sweet peppers or hot peppers on "original cheesesteak". It is totally…

Hi, do you offer a vegetarian sandwich?

Yes, we do. You can add grilled or fresh vegetable and melted cheese without steak. Vege options are grilled onion, grilled bell pepper, grilled hot pepper, lettuce, tomato, fresh red onion.

Yes, we are. As the previous owner, Don, served the best Cheesesteak, we promise to maintain its great quality and portion. We won’t change the recipe, price, and portion of…

Does Jersey Joe's make their own bread?

No, but we use fresh bread baked on the same day(except Sunday) in a local bakery.

Does Jersey Joes use peanuts, nuts or peanut oil?

    No, we don't use any.

I've noticed this place taxes each item ordered and then taxes AGAIN on the total price of your bill.. is the normal?

When I took my first bite, I said out loud, "Am I eating a Big Mac?!" Very creative are these folks. The chocolate croissant speaks for itself. It's fully loaded flaky croissant goodness and it's huge! Head over to Mo's for an excellent sammie experience! Plan for to-go as it is very tiny, however, there are tables and outside area, too. Hey hey hey! (Good old "Music Champ" or for those not familiar with that Japanese variety show,…read more"Fat Albert"!) Another legit Japanese bakery in the Yay? You bet! Jiro/Jirou Cafe & Bakery (Jirou Sabou/二郎茶房) is a Japanese cafe on Belmont's Las Pulgas and Carlmont. From what I have gathered as I did my prior scouting/dining scouting (I can't recall anymore), the place is only 3 years old. Seeing that I'm a San Jose/Milpitas cat, I'll type what this place has over Clover and vice versa. This is done not only so that I can recall what I ordered should I enter as I get off 101 again. This is also done so that Belmont residents, Frisco ones and those nearby can get an idea of what to expect when they can decide whether Jiro or Clover has the better batch of items. I felt awful for staying in for 3 hours of the 4 weekend hours of operation yesterday, but as I type up this review and remember to insert the usual "Yes guys, the ladies are cute!" statement, I did get more items before this place closed for the day. I blame/thank the music, especially an Utada Hikaru-san song. The staff's really terrific. The look seems random with a simple look wall and a white and pink stripe look wall that gives me shades of Anna Miller's, but it works because the place is really cute. I mean, there's a Kuromi decoration as opposed to the Too Short name dropped Kitty in Clover! Though there's a kiosk, there's also the ever important bottle of sanitizer and the register should you pay with cash. Okay, I better get the comparison paragraph pair out of the way. Let me show you something--I mean start with what Jiro has over Clover! (Yay "In Living Color".) As I typed in the last paragraph, Jiro has Kuromi. Beside that, there are items such as an iced houjicha latte with in house cream, Japanese sodas including my San Franciscan friend's melon soda that made him wish he's back in Japan, cat shaped bread along with multiple forms of cat decorations, Anpan Man pan with Jiro being the second place I have been to carrying them after Sac's Mahoroba, big savory sandwiches such as yakisoba sando, tonkatsu quesadilla, yuzu cheesecake, pan such as sakura pan, matcha panna cotta, Belgian chocolate brownies, juurokucha bottles (a non-caffeinated tea of 16 ingredients) and on the go snacks such as the Japanese animal crackers boxes. I can't forget the seating, an element Clover had before the pandemic mess. What Clover has over Jiro. Clover has the cooler Sanrio character. Regarding the foods and drinks, Clover has Italian sodas with the Torani syrups, ice cream for the French ones as opposed to cream or half and half, piroshiki/pirozhki, mini versions of sandwiches such as korokke/croquette and okonomiyaki/modan'yaki pan (savory pancake with noodles for the latter if you are not familiar with Japanese food), donut twists, strawberry sando, and Japanese strawberry shortcake. Regarding what I bought, I picked out items I can't get at the other Japanese bakeries I've been to in the sakura pan, the yuzu cheesecake and the houjicha latte. The latte's cream is so silky. The sakura pan is also good. As for the cheesecake, while I think Charlie's (as in the cheesecake place on Redmond) makes the most yummy cheesecake, Jiro's for me probably makes the least guilty cheesecake (a very good trait to have) because it's not that sweet, and yuzu's a good fruit to have. The flaws. Outside of the parking lot across the street, the place has really bad parking, as you can only park for 20 minutes in front of the cafe. You figure that there's the lot around the corner, but don't use it, as it's for the medical center. Also, there are limited hours of operation (11-5 Wednesday to Friday and 12-4 on the weekends). Neither flaw can't be helped I suppose, especially since Belmont isn't really a suburb you think of regarding Japanese food. If only there's a fruit sando or a korokke pan. Jiro is an amazing spot for me. While it unfortunately will never be my top Japanese bakery (I've known Clover's for around 20 years), it is a very good bakery never the less. To think, I found this spot on the fly after having lunch. If you live in Belmont, visit this place often because having a Japanese bakery is like having a Mr. Mays baseball card or for some of you, a shiny Pokemon. Get there early so you don't miss out on items. +/Jiro is a jiving cafe because of its adorable staff, brilliant visuals, and a grand list of Japanese pastries and drinks. -/Carpy parking and limited hours made me twitch.
