While I agree the scones are good but not exceptional, their prices are outrageous! I went there over the summer and was charged $3.50 for a scone, went back the following week and was charged $.4.00 per scone. Last Sunday, 1-22-12 I went there and I couldn't believe it when the cashier said it was $12.00 for 2 scones. I will never go back there again, nor will the rest of my family and friends since I told them all. I don't even pay that much in NYC or Boston. This place is truly a world-class bakery. The scones are just so so good,. I can never again accept the tasteless hockey pucks that pass as "scones" in other bakeries or (ughh!) Starbucks. The raspberry and blueberry scone I had today was moist, buttery, light, and oozing with the freshness of just picked berries...heavenly! The cookies and coffee cake are also outstanding! Obviously baked with the finest ingredients with no commercial shortcuts. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner and found him to be warm and friendly and deservedly proud of his product and this immaculate and charming little bake shop. I've never written a review on here before, but couldn't help it after trying these scones for the first time yesterday. They are, hands down, the most delicious, melt-in-your-mouth baked goods I've ever consumed in my life. I bought a large box for my family and sampled the vanilla bean and seasonal lemon blueberry - both were absolutely extraordinary - and my family gobbled up the orange cranberry and chocolate chip. YUM YUM YUM! The scones are well worth the line out the door! Do not go there if you need to run in and out, as you will always find a line! The store is VERY small so people wait outside. The scones are so moist, unlike most scones that I've had! The best is when you get them right out of the oven and bite into the warm goodness of them! The baked goods are fantastic however the service leaves something to be desired. On days when they know there will be a line out the door, you need to be prepared. People went in ordering hundreds of dollars of cakes and treats and I waited 30 minutes for 2 scones. This scenario is not ideal for the average person looking for breakfast. Having all three counter people helping one customer at a time kills the flow of the line. I do not intend on going here during any time I think might be "peak" for fear of starvation in line. read more

I am a true lover of scones with my coffee and I have to say these are some of the best scones I have EVER had!! I have lived in many large cities where you have bakeries on almost every corner but none have produced a scone quite so delicious. The blueberry scones are just delightful. Soft, buttery and with the freshest blueberries! I also quite enjoy the cranberry (glazed and unglazed) plus the muffins are also delicious. After reading the amazing reviews about the Scone Pony on Yelp I decided to take a drive down to Spring Lake and buy some scones. I spent thirty dollars on an array of scones, cupcakes, and croissants only to be extremely disappointed in the quality of their gourmet pastries. I bought a red velvet cupcake for my seven year old who said that her cupcake was way too sweet and that she couldn't finish it. Now, when a seven year old says that a pastry is too sweet you know that it was cloyingly sweet. All of the baked goods that I purchased tasted like the mass produced pastries you would find in a supermarket. The flavoring in the lemon scone tasted like lemon extract and not fresh lemon juice, and the sugary glaze on top was just a sticky mess. I honestly would not even call these scones, they were more like glazed muffin tops. Needless to say, I was not impressed nor will I be returning. read more

I wouldn't know how anything at the Scone Pony tastes, they refused to serve me. My son has several NON-life threatening allergies (which I made clear). I asked if I could know the ingredients in the baguette and they refused to "give me the recipe". I made clear that I did not want the recipe, just the ingredients. They refused again to "give me the recipe". I then just asked to know if there is any soy, corn, or dairy in the baguettes and they again said "we can't give you the recipe" I am shaking just writing this. It was insane and I am pretty sure I was dealing with the owner. She told me that she would prefer I buy nothing. I reminded the woman that people with allergies are a protected class under the Americans With Disabilities Act and that she couldn't refuse service because of his disability. She asked me to leave. After making a big public fuss, I did. Thankfully my son did not witness any of this, but my heart breaks that someone could be so unkind, inflexible and utterly behind the times. It is 2016. Children have allergies. A list of ingredients is not a recipe. read more

This is by far the BEST bakery in the tri-state area. The baked goods are the freshest and most delicious baked goods I have ever eaten, and I have been to nearly every bakery around. The baked goods themselves taste classy. You can tell everything is baked with a lot of care, and the bakers take their work very seriously. The sizes of the baked goods are perfect - thank goodness for a bakery that actually gives you what you pay for plus more: amazing quality and excellent taste. I have never had a better scone, cupcake, or sticky bun in my life. Everything is moist, tender, and fresh. I look so forward to coming here - thank you so much Scone Pony! It is worth every penny. On Thursday, I was blessed to try their special scone of the day: pineapple coconut. Let me tell you, this was the best scone I have ever eaten. I was sent to the heavens - the flavor combination was outstanding. The pineapple pieces were plump and just the perfect level of sweet.
