i love this place and everything is great BUT they put actual pieces of corn in their corn muffins which is truly disgusting. like it actually ruined my entire morning because i was so excited to eat this delicious corn muffin from my favorite bakery but when i bit into it i got KERNELS OF CORN??? that is not what a corn muffin is! genuinely vile and i threw the whole muffin away. please stop putting pieces of corn into an otherwise excellent muffin. it ruins the muffin. read more

My dog pulled me towards this establishment which I didn't know about. There was a line to get in. A line to get into a bakery? Never saw this. I asked a older gentleman coming out, " is it really that good?" He placed his hand on my hand and said, " Yes, made sure you get the Cranberry Orange." SO, I did. I bought 3 at a reasonable price and found a nice place to eat my one. OMG.... IT was DIVINE. Just stood in line for 45 minutes on 7/4, only to get to the front and find just 2 "unenthusiastic" young girls manning the counter and moving at snails pace, while other adult employees seemed immersed in filling boxes for apparent call-in orders. The line at the store was down the sidewalk, and when I reached the store, I realized why. In addition, most of the more popular items were "sold out" (this is by 10am, when the store opened at 8am). Yes this may be extreme and may offend people who are in fact insane, but this is the truth. I'm not a big scone lover, but perhaps my taste buds are changing! My son surprised us with a dozen scones from this shop and right away, I knew something was different. They looked and they smelled delicious. So I had to try one. Well, I had a scone with chocolate dripped on it and it was good. But today, I took one that tasted like it had oranges and I was in heaven. It was moist, huge, and really quite tasty. I think I may have to make a trip to this shop myself. The shop is nestled in the quaint town of Spring Lake, and is conveniently located beside a residential street where there isn't much traffic. I will die inside if this place ever goes belly up. BEST strawberry shortcake EVER! Heaven in a piece of cake. The vanilla cake is moist and sturdy - in short, a shortcake perfection. The whipped cream - little clouds of fluffy happiness. The strawberries - nature's red orbs, firm and sweet. We had the strawberry shortcake as a birthday cake, and we are still singing ... Scone Pony's praises! Next morning, we had two kinds of coffee cake, and weeping was a true possibility. Some did wipe their eyes. Not too sweet and such a perfect treat with coffee and tea. Raptures - we're in raptures. AMAZING! First off, the place smells incredible from the moment you walk in because the staff is busy baking right behind the counter! Go for the scones but stay for the treats in the front case. All the cookies and pastries are incredible! They leave out samples and everything I've tried has been incredible. Now to the scones....no words to describe them! They are light and buttery and incredible! The blueberry is my favorite as the blueberries are so fresh and delicious. Also they sometimes have GF scones which taste just as good as the original. I was asked to leave by no less than three (3) employees. When I explained that he was a service dog (and that there were no others in the store). I've been wanting to go to this place for a year since we first visited this area. Finally got in and ordered vanilla bean scone (excellent) and peach strawberry scone (pretty good). It was really crowded but we're glad we got in and got a few scones. We'll be back to try more, except they had a lot of lemon flavored scones and I'm not as big on lemon. read more

How can you say anything bad about this place?! As soon as you walk in, it smells like heaven! They are constantly churning out fresh baked goods, which include more than just scones. I am giving this business three stars based on the unpleasant service. The staff behaves as if they are doing you a favor. This place does a tremendous business so it obviously will not miss my patronage. My only regret with coming here was not trying the ham and cheese croissants that they had for the day! Clientele is less than amazing.... stuck up snobs, BUT the bakery makes you feel more than welcome..... Scones are pretty big and got 4 for 12 bucks! It's Saturday morning, you roll over in bed, blink your eyes a couple of times, do a trademark full body stretch and think to yourself, SCONES! I know I am not alone on this one. What a diamond in the rough, and by rough I mean a bakery surrounded by million dollar homes. Get your khaki's and sweater vest ready we are heading to spring lake. And all your outsiders, like myself, it is worth the venture. Sure the locals don't know who you are. Sure they look you over from head to toe trying to size you up, but don't worry that uncomfortable feeling will be quickly erased by some of the most delicious scones and pastries in Monmouth County, NJ. There is no real good time to go as they always seem to have a crowed. I do suggest going early as they tend to sell out of the more popular scone concoctions. I am only concerned with a small detail in that their name closely resembs a legendary bar and band favorite The Stone Pony in "beautiful" Asbury Park, NJ. I can't wait for the day when i pull up to the Scone Pony and see a Tour Bus parked outside. There is a reason this bakery has five stars. It is that good! Do yourself a favor, go grab lunch at Ray's Cafe and walk around the corner to The Scone Pony. It is a tiny little shop with some outdoor tables, the friendliest staff and a display of delicious confections. You can choose from cookies, scones, cupcakes, and other varieties of baked goods. We left with some cookies, macaroons, a scone, cupcakes, an apple strudel, and mini cheesecake. All I can say is wow. This place will always hold a special memory for me now. My baby boy tried his first chocolate chip cookie from here. The cookie was a little crumbly, but would probably be amazing if you warmed it up a tiny bit. My flourless chocolate cookie was an experience is perfection. I don't know how they did it, but this was one of the best cookies I have ever had in my lifetime. It was crisp on the outside but moist and decadent on the inside. Wow, just wow. Everyone enjoyed their sweet treat.
