He also measured all the windows to be replaced and promptly provided a written quote. Three of our replacements were for original 30+ year-old single-hung windows which were no longer functional because their balances had failed. The replacement Simonton windows have a better design that obviates the need for such balances, which was of added value to me! The total window order, measured and made to order, was received by JWG within 3 weeks and installed within 1 week. JWG Windows arrived just minutes before the scheduled time for installation. We were fortunate to have a second installation crew (Alex and Ricky) join the first crew (EJ and Cody) during the installation process, which allowed the entire job to be done within 2.5 hours. These two teams operated smoothly together in good spirits, were respectful of our property (using drop cloths in each work area) and cleaned up the work areas. After they were installed, EJ demonstrated the windows' operating features, provided me with the manufacturer's warranty and answered my questions. We had been quoted anywhere between $5,000-$15,000 to replace our sliding patio doors with French…read moredoors. Our garage is detached, so we could not lock our old patio doors, meaning if we wanted to use our garage, we either had to leave the house unlocked or walk around the block to our front door. We were told by all the other contractors that our doorway was a weird size, and that they were unable to install the doors without cutting into our drywall and stucco and removing our patio stairs. We were also told this would be a project that took multiple days. I posted our other quotes to Yelp to see if other contractors could beat it, and Sivan responded. Oded from Sivan came in and confirmed what I suspected: That what we were told by other contractors was wrong, and that they could easily replace our sliding patio doors with French doors with a lock, and that it could be done via retrofitting and would only take a matter of hours. Everyone at Sivan was easy to work with. My husband and I frequently have meetings during the day, so it's hard to have a call about house stuff. Everyone at Sivan was able to communicate via e-mail and text so we could handle things while in meetings, and they were super responsive even though we sometimes took months to respond because we had a baby since we originally reached out to them. We were able to get our doors done for $4,298.80, which was the best quote we had from any contractor and included labor, materials, and a warranty. We called a few contractors to give us a quote to go with our kitchen renovation. Refinishing the cabinets was not an option because we wanted a solid color and painting oak will reveal the grain. Refacing was our preferred solution but the contractors will only do a complete cabinet replacement. That would have been fine, but replacing the cabinets will get us way off budget. So my wife and I did our cabinet-refacing homework and I came across Suncraft Millwork on Amazon.com. Specializing in thermofoil cabinets and drawer faces, it offers modern slab and shaker-style designs. I exchanged a few text and emails with Jeremy, the owner, and got a very budget-friendly quote! The caveat was my wife and I will have to do some heavy lifting because we had to make sure the cabinet frames will match the doors and faces. This will be no easy task because we cannot just paint oak since the wood's grain will be evident. We also had to put the hinges and install the doors and attach the drawer faces. But we were ready to rise to the challenge. At 1/3 the contractor bid, we will make sure we prevail! We ordered 25 shaker-style cabinet doors and 12 drawer faces of varying sizes in Fashion Gray color. Jeremy needed a 2-week window which was just the right amount of time we needed to sand, fill, re-sand, prime, and paint the frames. He sent us a thermofoil sample to color-match the paint. Our order came neatly stacked on a pallet and the items were securely wrapped in foam and cardboard. Clearly labelled with measurements, all of them were in pristine condition. I was in contact with Jeremy the entire process and beyond. He suggested the self-closing hinges and made sure I'll be able to install the doors with ease. It has been three months since we installed them and these doors and faces looked really well in our renovated kitchen. We will surely give Jeremy a call when it's time for us to upgrade our bathroom cabinets and drawers!

We had outdated recessed oak cabinets with natural stain and we invited a few contractors to make a bid on them. They all recommended to do the more expensive replacement rather than refacing which would have made a huge dent on our budget. My husband found this business in Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09F21L33S) that offers thermofoil cabinets. He was in contact with the owner (Jeremy) from ordering to installing the cabinets. We were unsure with the color so Jeremy sent us samples to choose from. Since we were going to change only the doors and keep the frames, we used the sample to get color-matched paint. We ordered 26 cabinet doors and 12 drawer faces - all in shaker style and Fashion Gray color. They were shipped free and neatly stacked on a pallet. They were carefully wrapped with protective material in groups of 2 or 3 doors / faces. We had to isolate the kitchen with plastic covers to get the frames sanded, wood-filled, sanded again, primed, and finally painted. The doors arrived in a couple of weeks giving us plenty of time to prep the kitchen. We were looking for soft/self-closing hinges to go with the cabinet doors and Jeremy had a great recommendation. To complete the whole cabinet renovation, I bought the cabinet/drawer pulls. We were very happy with how our new cabinets turned out. We did a lot of DIY work but it was all worth it. We will surely order from Suncrafters again when we do our bathroom cabinets and drawers.

Southern California Windows & Door had the highest Yelp rating. The glass was 1/2 inch thick, 92 inches by 39 inches, very heavy, in a difficult corner of the glass wall. They got on the project in a reasonable amount of time considering they had to order the glass. They kept me informed of dates and progress. The old door had been good, but over the last few years, it had begun to rust and was not providing enough transparency when people came to the front door or ventilation for our front room. We looked at different vendors and called around to different door and window specialists and big box stores, and after "kicking some tires" looking at different display models around town, we were kind of disappointed with the quality of the doors. We wanted a very secure door with lots of visibility, ventilation, and more of an old-school screen door look. We almost bought a door at Dixieline, which had good reviews, and appeared to be the most secure and what we wanted, but when we went to check out a display model, were really disappointed at how much the frame of the door bent and wobbled when being opened and closed, which was odd because of how beefy it was. We decided to give Safeguard a call, and we couldn't be happier. They were very responsive and when I asked to see a display of a door, they actually gave me the address of one of his sons in our area who had the screen installed on his front door, and even invited us to Alpine to see the owner's house as another example. Plus, their doors are all custom-made to make sure the fit for the doorway is perfect. We visited the local house and were super impressed by the look and quality, and decided to have them do our project. Here is a quick summary of things: 1) Very responsive to calls and texts. 2) Came out to measure the same day. 3) Don, the owner, was very friendly and gave us a very thorough explanation about the build process and quality of the door when he did the measure. 4) Built, delivered, and installed the door ahead of schedule 5) Did a terrific job of demoing the old door, which was a big concern, and was able to install the new door with no issues or retrofitting. You can't even tell how this door is attached to door frame. All hidden hardware. I was really worried I would need to install new moulding or caulk it like crazy to hide where the old door was attached. 6) The door has a great feel and closes quietly instead of a loud clang every time it shuts. 7) The visibility and ventilation are 1000% better than our old door, and the door has an amazing lock system installed. We can leave the house with the front door open and have no concerns that our house is completely safe with just the screen being open. The added bonus on top of them being a family business and genuinely great people, is that the price and quality were better than anybody else that we researched. Fantastic job Don!
