Came here with our family (Including 4.5 y.o & 2 y.o) and we had a fabulous stay! This hotel almost feels like a resort, but without the all-inclusive part. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated & designed and it was just so pleasant to walk around and have coffee while looking over the beach. The room itself was great - I loved the large shower! We got complimentary metal water bottles for the room & a cute hotel canvas tote to carry travel essentials. The Seabird pool is larger than the Mission Pacific hotel's so we opted to swim at Seabird and we had no trouble getting chairs on a peak holiday weekend. Also, the staff was always friendly & helpful with any questions we had! You cannot beat the location, with the beach across the street with a kids playground in the sand and next to the Oceanside Pier (the longest pier on the west coast!) Big ++ - This hotel is dog friendly which is great for a lot of families to travel and also the pools are semi-heated! Normally we would stay in La Jolla or San Diego, but I found Oceanside to be so lovely, I would totally stay here again! read more

We booked a Grand Ocean suite which in the picture was shown to have an oceanfront view and bath tub. Both of these things were the reason we booked. Upon arrival, we're given an "ocean side view" and no bath tub. This feels both dishonest advertising and also disappointing. Guest services used lots of empathetic language "i understand... so frustrating" but no actual resolution. We were offered two destination fees returned and One nights valet. Better than nothing but exceedingly disappointing, we wanted what we booked and paid for. Hence spending the cash to begin with. So be careful what you are booking it's misleading. We paid the premium and did not get what we paid for or what was advertised. :( Update: manager credited three nights of destination and reduced the room rate. She will also communicate that the room descriptions need changing to reflect differences (and hopefully the rate!). read more

Don't let the Hyatt affiliation fool you. While this "resort" charges you premium prices for their location and resort look, that is where the comparison ends. Service is HORRIBLE. Waitstaff in the restaurant and ballroom are rude and dismissive. When you ask to speak to management, you are treated even more poorly by said management. They do not want to listen to your perspective or concern, but immediately defend their employees blindly and try to tell you that YOU are wrong and YOU are needy. I mean...if I was at Burger King I would be treated much better than that. I was ignored and mocked by waitstaff, gaslit by "management" (who, by the way, refused to give me their business card and said they don't have one). Honestly, the service was reminiscent of being at an overcrowded college bar. Except I'm 30 years older, paying way more money, acting much more respectfully. Rooms were decent and clean, though throughout our stay, the housekeeping was lackluster and did not take out trash from trash cans or refill any missing amenity (shampoo, conditioner, etc). Those are basic things that should not be missed or overlooked. The spa was nice and staff there were wonderful. Make sure to take a look at the other reviews here before choosing to waste your money and be degraded at the Seabird. The good reviews talk about the beautiful property but there isn't a single review that mentions good service. Don't waste your money. read more

The Good: -The stunning view from my room -Nice decor and ambiance -Quiet rooms -Friendly staff -Great gym -Valet attendants were very kind -Though we chose not to eat at the Piper for our meals, the manager was so helpful in showing us the breakfast buffet was more than just carb coma foods. We did stop in late for a sweet treat and coffee to go. The staff was so kind and didn't skimp on service even though they were 10 minutes from closing. Now, The Bad: -The mattresses are the quality of a used toddler mattress. I'm 125lbs and it hurt my back so bad. Just imagine my 230lb husband's discomfort!!!! Every heard the term "crisp sheets?" That's usually good but the bedding is so "crisp" that any movement makes a sound so loud you wake up. If you want a good nights sleep, it's definitely not here!!!! -Pool area a filthy disaster! No one was cleaning up empty food dishes, dirty towels, or strewn around empty plastic cups & garbage. Granted, whoever dumped it should've picked it up but since they didn't, there should've been a staff member to do so. -Kids!!!!!! The photo of the pool made us so excited to relax and enjoy the amenities. We arrived to the area and it was PACKED with kids! It felt like we were at a water park. We decided to get into the hot tub to relax. Kids were jumping in, splashing me, and overall, the place was overrun by children. Great if you have kids but ours are grown and we went on vacation to relax! They should advertise that it's more of a child friendly hotel than a place to relax because you can't have both. -My coffee maker didn't work and they remove the lobby coffee before 11am. I'm a coffee drinker all day so that wasn't awesome. -The rooms are tiny with a poorly planned giant bathroom. One towel hook for the entire bathroom. ONE! Either hang a towel or your toiletry bag-not both and definitely not multiple towels. So much wasted space that could've been utilized better. -If you need to iron your clothes, don't! A steamer is provide which is awesome until you smell the horrific strong odor of mildew and it's too late. You've already transferred that smell onto your clothing. The good was great! However, the bad just just too much for us to ever want to return. I could have dismissed most of the bad if it weren't for the poor mattress quality and horrible pool experience. It was just too bad for us to recommend and with the outrageous price tag, we expected at the very least, a good nights sleep! read more

It's a beautiful property, but the service could improve. It took multiple attempts (four to be exact) to get in touch with the property (each time being told someone would contact us back but until the 4th attempt we never heard back) to find out if they could accommodate some dietary constraints and even then when they had notes on our reservation regarding said dietary constraints there were some mistakes on orders each day. On others, something else was missing for the room service orders (whether it be the plates on one day, the utensils on another, or the condiments on another). There wasn't a single day that there wasn't at least one thing wrong with an order. That said the food is very good when made correctly, and the property looks and feels completely new. I wouldn't say the issue was so much with their general service staff (who seemed to try to accommodate when they were aware, but their service management who didn't seem too interested in hearing about, looking into, or correcting issues). They have a fragrance they pump into the hallways (so if you're perfume sensitive that might be an issue), but it is mild and smells nice. The property has a wonderful view from many of the units. When someone was using a bathroom (presumably the shower) in an adjacent unit, you could hear the water flowing, which felt odd for something marketed as a resort. We stayed in the Estate Suite and had sweeping views overlooking the oceanfront. The air conditioner in our unit stopped working during our stay. To their credit, they fixed it promptly. Still, it felt something was missing given the overall service (and lack of attention to detail). The Seabird Resort has the potential to be a great property (if they improve their service), but isn't quite there yet. If you're looking to stay at an alternative Hyatt property in the area, I would recommend either the Park Hyatt Aviara or Alila Marea instead (as one can expect consistently superior service at either). Also, the mattresses feel significantly more comfortable at both the Alila Marea and Park Hyatt Aviara. read more

Special shout outs to Brittney at the front desk for being so friendly and positive, Luke the awesome bellman for being so attentive and professional, Odessa at the Piper restaurant for being the best server ever, Sarah at the front desk for going above and beyond, Trevor the manager for being incredibly thoughtful and helpful, and every single valet man. I wish I had gotten names. They were each so personable and fast. There were so many things I loved about our stay at The Seabird. It made our anniversary weekend so special. It was beautiful and classy but not pretentious. It was inviting and comfortable. I loved the reusable water bottles they give you and alkaline water filling stations everywhere. The robes and slippers were very comfortable, as was the bedding. The library was a great place that my teenage son especially loved to go hang out at with his iPad. It was cozy, lots of room, has comfortable window seats, huge view windows, books, and chess. The gym was very nice with great quality and variety of equipment, good sanitation options, and water station. The pool was amazing! The view can't be beat. It has close bathrooms, lounge, fire pits, comfortable seating, and wonderful pool attendants. Every single person seemed to go above and beyond and appeared to really love to make things special for guests. It's the first time I can say extra costs, such as resort fees and valet, are worth it. Valet was incredibly convenient and efficient, especially with the text-on-the-way feature. It was nice not to worry about finding parking which is hard to come by, plus peace of mind with the vehicle being safe and not parked on the street. Resort fee gave access to pool plus access to the sister location right across the street which included their pool and restaurants, and even complimentary beach valet for chairs, umbrellas, and towels (worth it just for that!) The location cannot be beat between the views and convenience of everything that's within walking distance. The rooms had great sound proofing and good sustainable features- pump style toiletries, water bottles with lots of water stations (alkaline, room temp and cold), motion lights in room and in common areas in hotel. I have been to nicer hotels such as this one where the staff seemed stuck up or like they are faking hospitality and will snicker or laugh behind your back, but not the people here. Sincere thoughtfulness and kindness seems to be requirement to work here. Best anniversary trip ever. We plan on making it a tradition to come here every year. It is great for kids, too. read more

We travel A LOT ! Actually about to go stay at an affiliate hotel in Huntington at the Hyatt. SHORT VERSION: -overall experience was awesome. In the end, my husband was able to talk to the front staff and they made everything rights HAD THEY NOT I WOULD HAVE LEFT a 2 maybe 3 star review the restaurant was DREADFUL I mean the WORST and RUDE shockingly uncomfortable service ... -rooms could've definitely had a better bed comfortability , some added touches like nicer sheets and I would've loved tea since I can't drink coffee . We were in a ocean front suite a duvet cover, glass cups, soft mattresses, should be a no brainer... but the room view was amazing we slept with the window open and listened to the waves crash . The outdoor space was where I lived while in my room. -They offer a ton of amenities!! , had we known about them we would've taken advantage of a lot more. They didn't tell us they offered anything! We paid for things that the hotel covered . I just heard guests talking about it then asked ... the pool was nice but the bar and rec room closed very early ! I think by 5pm? -this is definitely more of a kid friendly, laid-back hotel. Almost all of the staff in the actual hotel was so sweet and fun! You don't get the feeling that you're in a snobby hotel, but the look and "vibe" is right up my alley! I felt like a home away from home . -Location was as good as it gets. 10 minutes from Legoland -The restaurant had delicious food but like most people have said the service was ...I mean it was THE WORST so bad my husband refused to go back after 2 bad service encounters BUT -We absolutely will be back... The pool was dirty so my kids didn't enjoy it. They said there was clumps of hair and bandages floating around the pool. We stayed on the 6th floor and there was no microwave, the phone in our room was broken. Every time we needed something I had to walked all the way down to request something. I brought the issues to their attention, the lady at the front desk sent someone up to fix the phone but the guy couldn't fix it. He said he will come back in 5 mins to fix. My family went out and came back 3 and 1/2 hours later.. the phone still not fixed. I walked down again to address the issue and request more towels. The guy at the front desk said he will send someone up to look at the phone and bring us some towels but it's been an hour now and still nobody showing up and no towels. I'm so tired to walk back and forth. I can't believe I paid for this kind of service and inconvenience. This will be my last time here. read more

This was my first time staying here and I must say what a great experience it was. Starting with the bellman Johnny. Johnny told me it was his first day and he did a fabulous job. he was very polite and was great with my kids. The front desk associate Jade was super professional, and very friendly to me and my family. Location and views are stellar. However, as a current first time guest here, the service has left A LOT to be desired (with exception of housekeeping- as our room has been kept immaculate). For example, we just waited 19 minutes to put in an order at the very empty pool restaurant. I had to approach the bar twice , text the front desk, and then approach the bar area again before we were sent a server. Meanwhile, multiple servers passed by me to while and reset tables. This is touted as a very kid friendly resort, but we've shown up to two of the kids calendared activities, and both times, no one knew what we were talking about. Both times, they did offer to go check with the front desk, however, it was frustrating to show up and have nothing there as shown on their calendar. They did not have sand toys at the beach (said kids had stolen them?) and as for kid food, the kids yogurt at the restaurant was plain greek yogurt. Also, no food options until 7 am, which if you have kids, you know that's way past wake up time. I asked for close locations for coffee and a snack until a restaurant opened and no one had a suggestion. They did offer the kids a toy from a toy wagon at checkin which was so fun, but unfortunately the rest of the follow through has been spectacularly lackluster. Two more days of our stay, and hopefully it is redeemed somewhat. read more

We had a wonderful experience at this beautiful hotel, everything was beyond perfect. The only complaint I have is all the extra charges they end up giving you at checkout. When I originally called to book this hotel I asked for the final total on how much it would come out to and I even asked if there's any additional fees and they said no this is the final price, however when we went to checkout it was almost $300 more than what they had told us which is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong I love this hotel and I will definitely come back in the future but it's also very messed up that they don't warn you about all their extra fees so beware! read more

I absolutely loved staying at this resort. I've stayed at many resorts and this was by far my favorite. It's so centrally located to everything, which is awesome. And on top of that, their customer service was amazing. I asked for a room, with a view, and they delivered. They also let us check out an hour later at no additional charge. It's these kind of things that bring people back. Additionally, the interior décor of the whole building was amazing. You can tell a lot of thought went into everything. My only critique, is that I really did not like being called, 'buddy' by the valet service at the front of the building. This was my first encounter with someone at the resort, and you're going to call me, 'buddy'? It reminded me of my first day being a server when I was younger, and I called a bunch of elderly women, 'guys'. I just thought that was a bit unprofessional. I call my children and their friends, 'buddy'. I'm a guest at your hotel, and I just gave you a decent tip, please don't call me, 'buddy'. The proper common respectful courtesy is, 'sir', and 'ma'am'. 'Buddy' is below this place. But that was my only issue. Beyond that, I thought this place was wonderful. read more

We just returned from a week at the Seabird Resort by Hyatt in Oceanside, CA. We were celebrating out 52nd wedding anniversary. It was pure perfection, relaxation at its best. We had a spacious comfortable room with views of both the ocean and the pool. (556). The food from The Piper Restaurant was delicious, best French Toast ever. There is a brunch on the weekends which has a wide selection of every kind of breakfast food. It was superb. The Shore Room has a beautiful view of the ocean, great selection of drinks, alcoholic and nonalcoholic, along with small plates for a quick snack. The location is perfect. It is immediately across from the beach, beautiful ocean views, walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The best thing about this resort is the service and the staff that provides it. We live locally and decided to head to the beach for the weekend to escape the heat. We could not be happier with our stay. From the chair service at the beach, to the food at the pool and the amazing activities for the kids, everything was perfect. The staff was exceptional and so accommodating. One person who made our stay extra special was Gaby, she helped us find enough chairs for our family at the pool, did the craft hour with my two kids and even found me some sunscreen when I desperately needed some (my husband took ours with him while he went to golf).
