The food, the service, and the ambiance was amazing. Our server J-roq was so friendly and kept us informed about everything. They should make the in the mix an entree, it was so good!

"Pasta"laya. The Leprechaun's take on Jambalaya but over Cajun pasta. You can get the traditional kind as well.

Happily pleased with the new place. It is a quirky theme, but they pull it off well. Certainly a place to come with friends so you can try a good mix of things on the menu. They has traditional Irish to traditional Cajun, and then dishes that mix the two, and do it well. The sauces are just the right mix of spice and flavor, that linger to enjoy but not scare your tastebuds. Friendly (and honest!) service who give you real opinions on what's good that day, and what maybe to try some other time (that is a huge plus in my book). Right downtown in a two story (they were doing karaoke upstairs, so add that to the mix) location with street parking. I'll be back to sample more of the menu.

Appetizers were great! The crab claws, and the dried green tomatoes were everything. Do JOT get the Pastalya. Flavorless and really wet

It's been a few years since my last visit, but back when I worked closer to downtown, this place was a weekly (sometimes twice-a-week) lunch ritual. Man, this spot is awesome for lunch! Now, if you try to come on a weekend--good luck. The place is packed to the gills, and the folks lined up outside aren't there for the turnip greens, if you catch my draft, I mean drift. They're here for the other "festivities"... the bar. But let's talk food. Whether you're circling your favorite meat and three combo or grabbing something off their regular menu, you can't go wrong. Their meat and three is like stepping straight into Granny's kitchen on a cool October Sunday afternoon. I went with the country fried steak, Caesar salad, fried okra, turnip greens, and--because I'm not a quitter--a helping of blackberry cobbler. Every bite was fantastic. My wife went with the fried catfish, paired with black-eyed peas, fried okra, and of course, the same irresistible blackberry cobbler to top it off. Her meal was every bit as delicious as mine (not that I didn't try to sneak a bite or two for quality assurance purposes). The background music today was a dose of pop, with Ingrid Michaelson's The Way I Am setting a nice, mellow vibe--pretty fitting for a lunch date with my wife. Soft and pleasant... though, if I'm being honest, I'd trade Ingrid for a little Metallica or any one of those glorious 80s hair bands in a heartbeat. Nothing says "meat and three" like a little Pour Some Sugar on Me, right? These days, a meal I used to enjoy weekly has become a rare treat, but today's visit reminded me why I loved it so much. The outdoor seating is perfect for a crisp fall or breezy spring day, TVs are plastered all around so you won't miss your favorite team (Roll Tide, of course), and there's even a pool table if you're feeling like hustling a game or two. The lunch staff is fast and friendly, and if you haven't experienced this Tuscaloosa gem, do yourself a favor and step inside for their lunch menu. Just maybe leave the late-night crowd to the younger folks--they've got more energy (and stronger eardrums) for that scene than I do!

Glad we did, I ordered the fish and chips, they were hot and good. The chips were waffle fries and really good too. They had one huge plus going for them, angry orchard on tap!!!!!! Before we even ordered, my son looked across the restaurant and said, "Don't we know that guy?" Sure enough, I turned around and there was an old friend I hadn't seen in years. Funny how life works sometimes--you go out looking for supper and end up catching up with someone you haven't seen in forever. I ordered the O'Brady Burger with fries, and my son went with the wings and fries. The food came out after a short wait, hot off the grill and looking every bit as good as it tasted. That first bite of the burger sealed the deal. It was juicy, flavorful, and honestly one of the better burgers I've had in quite a while. The fries were hot, crispy, and exactly what fries ought to be. Between the great food, friendly service, and unexpectedly reconnecting with an old friend, it turned into one of those meals that reminds you why local restaurants are worth supporting. I don't make it over to Hoover as often as I'd like, but Beef O'Brady's is definitely staying on my list when I'm in the area. And with a Tuscaloosa location reportedly on the way, I'm looking forward to making it a regular stop a whole lot closer to home. Sometimes the best nights aren't planned--they just happen over a great burger and good company.

I started off with the Moon Over Madagascar, and let me tell you--if this drink had a fan club, I'd be president. The black tea and vanilla combo sounded like a weird dare at first, but it ended up being shockingly amazing. Whoever came up with that mix deserves a bonus and maybe a parade. Now, let's talk about the shrimp and grits, because these were not just "good." These were "call your mama and tell her you've tasted greatness" good. The chef is from South Carolina, and you can taste every bit of Lowcountry pride in that bowl. Perfectly cooked grits? Check. Pile of blackened shrimp? Double check. A sauce that made me rethink my entire life? Oh yeah. If they sold that sauce by the gallon, I'd be bankrupt but extremely happy. Erica, our waitress, was an absolute rockstar. Super helpful, incredibly informative, and somehow managed to keep the perfect balance of friendly and professional--even on the Sunday after the Iron Bowl, when half of Auburn is stress-eating. The place was spotless too, which is impressive considering the emotional damage that game causes every year. Bottom line: The Hound is a must-visit. Come hungry, order boldly, and thank me later.
