New name "The Senate", I believe they remodeled also. Ive been here a few times for events. I attended the 2nd annual Jazz Fest, which was a blast. Online ticketing was easy enough, no issues. We listened to 4 Jazz grps, very organized and on time. Thankfully we had seating which was a plus. Seating is dependent on the show you are seeing that evening, Next yr I will do VIP seating for various reasons... Tip: Get there early, free parking lot beside venue, parking decks all over town, free parking on the streets if you can get. No long lines, get there early, staff was professional and fast with entrance. Food line was short, bar was open, bathrooms clean. I normally ask the venue beforehand what time the main artist will show up, this helps us oldie but goodies patrons on timing. Great place to catch live music in the COLA. The promoter for this event did a awesome job, sold out for 2yrs in a row! Not sure what ticket company they used, but fees are expensive as usual. The norm I guess.. I had a awesome time!

Went to the Senate to see a performance. The space was great, plenty of room for dancing, a helpful and friendly staff. Security did great to make sure everyone was safe during the performance. A great place to go with friends to see a favorite band.

Cool little venue for concerts in Columbia, SC. It holds about a thousand people. Tonight we saw the Wedding Band, a side project of Kirk Hammett and Rob Trujillo of Metallica, ex Ugly Kid Joe singer Whitfield Crane, and the drummer from Queens of the Stone Age. What a great show, playing their favorite cover songs from bands that influenced them. Great night!!!

Ask the Community - The Senate

So the website says most things are standing events. Is there seating in the venue or no?

Hi there! Capacity is flexible based on each event type and needs, with custom floor plans built for each individual event.…

This is connected to the Tin Roof - and there is a bar at the Music Farm, but no food service (I think).

Prohibition beat my expectations. I expected it to be gimmicky, but I left pleasantly surprised…read more I found the atmosphere to be quite space-y (looks great for attending a show or event). The food surpassed my expectations, particularly the red pepper dip. I also saw the teriyaki beef tacos and thought they'd be meh, but they were really quite tasty! Did not order entrees. I would say they should add a vegetarian/vegan entree option (or substitution) (beyond something mundane like a salad)- maybe I didn't look hard enough. The service was good but not anything to rave about. We were there at what seemed to be a relatively slow time of day/week (maybe 20% of the restaurant was full). Nothing bad to say here. The pricing was as expected. Pretty typical. Also, why no champagne on the menu?! Come on guys (lol, again, maybe I didn't look hard enough). So- 4 out of 5. Not knocking it because of any complaints, it's just pretty average for Columbia. Though I do think they deserve higher than 3.6 based on my experience.

My love wanted to meet our friends here for brunch and it was actually really good. First the…read morerestaurant is decorated beautifully. I loved the rustic feel, everything made out of liquor barrels, the lighting top tier. For appetizers, my friend got the crab Rangoon toast, and we got wings and deviled eggs. The toast was really good but I felt like it was one note, it needed something to cut the creaminess. The deviled eggs were so good with the cracklin chicken skin on top and the wings were crispy and flavorful . I think they were my favorites of the day. My bf got the lobster roll which he said was really good. The bun is toasted, the lobster is cold but he said it's not like ice cold, it's the perfect temperature. My friends said the shrimp and grits and chopped cheese sandwich were amazing. Only thing I'd say about the shrimp and grits is that the kale sitting on top like that is off putting. It could have been plated a little better. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of my food because it came out last but I got the grilled steak cooked medium rare and it was perfect ! They did put finishing salt which made certain bits really salty so I didn't like that. But other than that, everything was so good. I'd give the experience a 9/10.
