Cynthia is knows a thing or three about wedding dresses. It's all she does and it shows. Bought my dress at Brides by Jessa in Coralville (you should go there, Miriam is awesome) and they recommended Cynthia. My dress was pretty much a whole bodice redo and it looks and fits great! I have a crazy schedule and she was incredibly accommodating (several last minute changes in appointment times on my part). Will update with better photos after the wedding. Cynthia was amazing. I had dropped my dress off at the beginning of COVID and my wedding ended up getting moved. She gave me a bustle, sewed in cups, and took the top in. She tries to make your fitting just the initial and one other, but I had to have a second because we took my dress in a touch too much. We had an issue pinning with the boning. She took a whole day to drop every other dress and thing she was working on to make my dress perfect. I just got married last week, not as planned we eloped and my dress was perfect. I bought my wedding dress from hope's Bridal in Davenport, and they go through Cynthia (the Sewing Room) for alterations. I was naive and just went with her because that is what Hope's recommended. After paying $300 to put in a bustle, take in the sides 1/2 in., let out the hips 1/2 in., and stitch down the breast cups, I got the dress back to see the middle section was wrinkled, the hips had a pouf out on one side, and she put in the wrong bustle. My wedding was 2 weeks away and I was frantic, frustrated and annoyed I paid so much for such poor work. I ended up finding an amazing lady who fixed my dress in time for my wedding for $60. I would avoid The Sewing room if you want quality work for your $$. read more
