The Sewing Shop is pure magic! They took my too-big, I'll fitting wedding dress that I already loved and turned it into a masterpiece! They are truly masters of their craft. I cannot even begin to tell you the amount of compliments I received on my wedding dress and I felt absolutely beautiful in it the whole day. When I first contacted The Sewing Shop, I had already been in contact with several other shops that were too busy to take on my requested services. My phone call was excellent with such friendly demeanor, and all three of my visits were fun and enjoyable. I had no idea my dress needed as much work as it did and they still took on the project even after I misled them saying I only needed a slight alteration. The cost of the alterations were a bit too expensive but you are paying for the quality of work and years worth of experience from this husband and wife couple! The only thing that happened with my dress was that the bustle kept breaking buttons off the back of my dress but I believe this was entirely tied to how heavy my train was and how much jumping around dancing I was doing. this is a small shop, it is pricey, and the wait times can be a bit long. know all of that and still know that this is the best place to bring your treasured items for altering. I brought a beautiful deep purple leather coat in that i bought during an italy trip almost 25 years ago. it had a couple cat scratches on the back, and the sleeves needed lengthening to fit my youngest. the tailor found a perfect black leather to add to the sleeves, repaired the scratches and added a strengthening seam around the tears so that lots of love and use wouldn't stretch and open them again. we were blown away by the quality of the work and it was worth every penny to make this jacket wearable again read more

I cannot vouch for the quality of alterations but can say the customer service was awful. I brought in 5 items to have priced for alterations and was candid on the phone that I was looking for prices in order to decide if it was worth it to alter. Because I didn't commit to his price on the first item immediately he wouldn't even look at my other items. It was all or nothing and a huge waste of my time. read more

I didn't make an appointment, but there is a sign on the door that says walk in. I was immediately very rudely confronted by the man working in the shop telling me to put a mask on when there was another customer without a mask. I asked if he could taper a pair of pants for me and he looked at me and told me that he was booked until September... Its currently May. read more

I've never had anything tailored and it was slightly intimidating because my first time was on a pair of 100+ dollar flair leg jeans. This place did an incredible job hemming them. Unfortunate local experience here. The pricing structure used you end up paying what the shirt cost originally to get it tailored. Owner was quite rude when I explained the issue I was having and that it was brand specific (Brooks Brothers). He insisted it must occur with every shirt due to my physique. Very unsatisfactory experience. I brought in a jacket to have the sleeves shortened. When I tried it on the sleeves were too short -- sitting well above my wrist particularly on one side. When I pointed this out the owner/tailor kept insisting the sleeve length was consistent on both sides. The reality was the sleeves were too short on both arms but particularly noticeable on one side. Very poor work and quite ridiculous at $16 per sleeve. read more

I needed to have 3 knit dresses hemmed, a sweatshirt zipper replaced, and a 3" section of a ripped jacket seam repaired. I called the Sewing Shop to see if they had time for the work and an estimate of cost. The owner explained that he would have to see the items before he gave a price range for hemming. I told him that I would bring them in the next day. When I arrived today, the owner said he had no time for new work and that he was more than 3 weeks behind. I told him that I could wait and I would like to have a estimate for a dress hem. He showed me all the waiting work he had and said that he could not give me an estimate as he was too far behind on work. I reminded him that the day prior he told me to come in for an estimate and that I had driven 25 miles to meet with him. Never the less, he explained that he had too much work and would like to do the work but to come back when he had more time. He also said that he works on a first come first serve basis and I told him I would like to get into his waiting line to have the work done but would like to have an estimate on a simple dress hemming.He told me that he was unable to do that at this time. I left but feel that it was unacceptable to instruct a potential customer to bring in items for estimates but within 24 hours report an inability to perform the work without looking at the items. read more

I have a job where I need to wear suits almost every day and I needed a suit jacket tailored to fit me better (I'm petite so they always fit slightly big on me). I found this place online and decided to try it out, having known nothing about it before (yikes). I know how difficult it is to tailor suit jackets so I was definitely taking a chance! Let me tell you, I was blown away at what an amazing job they did! It was not cheap but I now have what is essentially a custom made suit that fits me like a glove and looks amazing. So worth it!!! The gentleman who worked on it was very polite and kind too so it was just a very pleasant experience. You can tell they get plenty of work so expect to wait awhile to get your work done but believe me, it's worth the wait. I hope they stay around for a long time because I plan on going there for everything and have recommended them to everyone I know. read more
