Highly recommend! Ambiance is top notch beach vibes and chill atmosphere. Live bands play 5 nights of the week and the band playing tonight was great. It's pretty loud though for talking with a group. The service was great. They were busy with a wedding party but the server was able to make sure we got menus and take our orders! She seemed very on top of it all. Fun drinks to try and we had the conch fritters to share (5 pieces). The sauce and seasoning were really good. Our party of 4 had the shack burger & 3 orders of crispy fish tacos with various sides. The fries were good with nice seasoning. And the tacos were delicious with some great toppings. This place is definitely a hidden gem. I just had the best fish tacos, ever! And you can order your food and walk 20 feet to a quiet little beach with tons of marine life. We did have drinks while waiting for the food and the service was good. Prices are on par for the island. This will be our go-to place on future visits. read more

I'm familiar with this place before it changed name and ownership. It had a different vibe then, but the current owners have really outdone themselves with all the upgrades to the decor. The location is ideal - right across from the beach in a fenced lot, so you could easily grab food and drinks to go, or you could enjoy your meal at a table or the bar (they have some fun swings)! Their painkillers are great - maybe one of the best I've had. The food is tasty, but unfortunately our food was lukewarm because it had sat at the bar for a while. To be fair, we dined there on a Friday evening, when the place was packed and seemingly understaffed. With that said, the bartender who took our order didn't share that we'd need to come back to get our food, and I had also watched someone delivering food to other tables?! I should mention it also took nearly 10 minutes to be recognized at the bar. We patiently waited over 45 minutes for our food when we finally decided it was taking way too long. We went to the bar only to learn that our food had been sitting. No apologies made, just a simple explanation that "they didn't have time" to find our party. Unfortunately, I'm giving 3 stars because the service really set the stage here. read more

Was on island for an epic wedding nearby. We visited the shack twice while we were on St Thomas. Had shrimp tacos both times. They were delicious. Coleslaw was fresh and fries were crispy. We ate here a couple times during our stay due to proximity. The food is good and the ambience is delightful. The wait for food post ordering is extraordinary. If you're super hungry I'd pick another option. Otherwise, be prepared to enjoy a couple drinks and play a few rounds of cornhole while you casually wait for your order. Overall, the ambiance was very nice. Our experience was tarnished by the fact that many children were running around without supervision, and they were yelling and screaming. Secondly, a few food items we were served, mainly the fish tacos, were precooked earlier and then served mostly cold. Service was great. Shrimp tacos were excellent. Drinks were island drinks, some stronger than others. Mosquitos had the biggest feast. No way to keep them away, so bring your own spray and come prepared to itch. read more

Excellent location and set up! Love the ambiance of the beach and the outdoor restaurant space -- fairy lights, beach umbrellas, swings, a covered bar, and food truck setup -- very relaxed and fun. Our group ordered a few pizzas for sharing, fried, snail fritters, fish tacos, and desserts. The pizzas were average but came out pretty quickly. The fish tacos were great but took a little longer to make, the fish was fresh and flaky, and the toppings complimented them well. The conch fritters were interesting but not mind-blowing -- crunch fritter with a light fishy taste and a gooey interior. The side of fries was well-seasoned and had a good texture. Of the desserts, the tempura cheesecake was novel and delicious -- it's a regular slice of cheesecake but deep fried so you end up with a warm and melty texture inside and crunch outside. The chocotaco was good too, but nothing mind blowing, a sweet deep fried shell and ice cream filling. The food was ready quickly, but we didn't get it from our server -- our server only took our order, and then brought the bill, which took a while. Overall a good meal, average pricing, and pretty space! read more

Dropped by Bar at The Hideaway in Hull Bay hearing that the bar had finally open. Excited to have a sunset cocktail with serval friends that were celebrating a 3 day 50th birthday party at the villas next-door. #1 - it was it noticeably uncomfortable when we arrived, the bartender and waitstaff were curt and unwelcoming. Never have I gone anywhere in Saint Thomas been asked to pay for an entire order of cocktails before drink 1 was received. When the bartender was asked to leave the credit card tab open, she rudely snapped at me saying, "I already ran the card".........well I'm so sorry how did you know I didn't want to add something or have another round, seriously. #2 - There is a large "No Pets" sign at the entrance, yet as we walked-in there was a baby being walked around by a small black and brown dog by the name of "BUG". Hull Bay has been a local staple for decades were all should feel welcome, well I must question if that applies at the Bar at The Hideaway at Hull Bay, and even more so for anyone who is melanated. read more

We came here for a late lunch. Bartender/server was awesome. Drinks were great. Problem came when they got our food order wrong. The person that made the food came over and gave us attitude. If you don't like mayonnaise make sure you ask for your burger without the special sauce. It wasn't on the menu. I asked for my burger with lettuce, cheese and bacon only. Still had sauce on it. The food was good when they fixed it, but don't appreciate the attitude. The food delivery person gave us attitude. Then the cook came over and also gave us attitude. She came over to us and said, "this isn't a restaurant ". I feel like customer service should always be first!! If it wasn't for her attitude I would have given 5 stars. read more

Awesome hidden gem in St. Thomas! My wife and I stopped by The Shack after checking out the views on the Mountain Top (with a banana daiquiri). Even though it was pouring when we got there, the vibe was great and our two bartenders were friendly with quick service. Only disappointment was we couldn't hang out longer.
