My first time going their today. Before I even got in I felt that vibe. The music was playing, I heard laughter and a guy with his little black and white doggie. It seems everybody knew them. I had Nicole as my lovely waitress Brandon was there spreading the good vibes too. The drinks were very reasonable but the food was awesome. I had the fish and chips, and some chicken wings. They were delicious! I'm so glad I decided to stay in Keizer because it was beautiful today and I walked everywhere. Am I going back to AJ's?! Hell yeah!! You don't come for the fancy food or upscale ambiance, but this dive bar is worth seeking out for a fun night out or a lil' day drinking on your day off. The staff is funny, down to earth and become your friends while you imbibe. Who the regulars are is evident and they add to the ambiance with their stories of nights past. Decided to give this place another try for breakfast, and was pleasantly surprised. They have a newer menu with great breakfast options. I tried the French toast. It was really good. Great coffee great service. I love the decor in there. They have booths and tables. And the Remodel in the women's bathroom is a nice improvement since I was there last. We'll definitely be going again to try maybe some of the other lunch or dinner items. read more

My wife and I love this place for hanging out with friends and the food is pretty good. We came in this morning to have breakfast, no one greeted us. We were there at least 15 minutes the bartender sauce the waitress walks by us doesn't acknowledge that we are ready for menus or drinks. She walks outside After another couple minutes my wife and I decide to leave and go somewhere else. Please note there are approximately four other tables and three people at the bar so it was not busy whatsoever. As we are leaving, the waitress is sitting in the smoking area smoking and on her phone. This place has really gone down downhill. read more

Came in there this afternoon to have my birthday lunch with my mom and dad. My cashed in one of my lottery tickets at that time when they got there. We ordered our food.Got it asked for extra plate so my parents could share their lunch. And also ask for honey mustard sauces at that same time i gave the waitress hispanic gal.I think she's new. 3 more tickets from the lottery machines that way She could catch them in when she brought the extra plates that we asked for. After about 10 minutes, I had to go up to the bar to get the plates and sauces. And asked the waitress if she was gonna bring me the money from my tickets, I gave her she proceeded to tell me she already gave me that money when she brought my drinks, which I already had to begin with. I told her no, you never gave me no money. Then she proceeded. I am sorry, I didn't bring your plates and sauces. I got sidetracked, which at the time she was cashing in a bunch of other tickets. Except for the first ticket I cashed in, there was a ticket for like 91 or $96. And two other tickets that should've came up to $220. I continue to tell her. No, you did not bring me my money. She said yes, I did. She walked off. Our order was 3 coors light bottles shot of fireball, the ajs platter, in the philly steak sandwich which was split between my parents. I love most of the people that work there. The atmosphere is amazing. But when I have a waitress that literally stole money from myself. I will not go back in there.. If it hadn't been for my elderly parents I was with, I would have made a bigger issue out of it. But I just know I will never step foot in there again. Especially if this person it's working. There was 2 girls working one I know, I think she's a manager. I'm not sure, but i've seen him there a few times but this gal who was working today Sunday, January 5th between noon and 2pm. That's when we were there as long as that gal is working there i will never come back. And I will be putting the word out anybody. It plays the lottery machines. Make sure you cash your tickets out at the bar do not give your tickets to the waitress. When it is busy, they do get busy. Get sidetracked, and then your money's gone. In the ten years I have been going in there. Never had that happen to me. I even walked out when she was at the end bar. I wrote a review before and the employees got yelp to take it down. Here is the review again: This place is terrible! It should be shut down! I got food poisoning here on a prime rib omelette. That should be enough to show how bad this place is. On top of that, the server Kristen, didn't even report it to the owner. She and the cook hushed up the crime. And the server Megan accused me of trying to get a free breakfast out of it! My friend had strawberry pancakes and they looked sickening. Avoid this place! What a great little gem in Salem! The breakfast top sirloin steak is amazing. Tender and cooked perfectly to order. And you get the full breakfast for $15. This is by far my favorite delivery place. This is the best burger in town. Better than Boenvines. Better than 5 Guys. Better even than In and Out. The only reason we are giving them a one star is it was freezing cold in the restaurant today when we stopped by for lunch. My hands and feet are frozen. My husband asked them turn up the heat and they said their heater is not working. They had three portable heaters and that is not enough to keep the building warm. They should shut their doors and fix the furnace. Had we known why it was so cold we would not have stopped by. Poor choice on AJ's to keep open. I have a hard time getting my hands and feet warm so this is a bad thing for me. Guess we will have to call next time to make sure they have heat. Other than being freezing cold, the food was excellent. We had a BLT and fries and they were outstanding. One of the best BLT's that we have had. Oh another thing the waitress was very lax in coming to our table. At first she bombarded us to get our order. Then we had to wait and wait for her to come back. Ordered take out and it was the best takeout I have ever had. The portions were big. The condiments and sides were great. The packaging was great it was all just great. Nope. I walked in and it felt like going back to the fifties. The place I sat at had chairs on wheels and a decor that felt like the worst part of a family friendly sitcom from the birth of TV. The clientele was notably of an older age and while I don't hold that against the bar (as I hope to one day attain that status myself), it may attest for the decor change. And all that is forgivable. But I sat for about fifteen minutes with no attention at all. I could have gone to the bar, I suppose, but I wanted food and, let's face it, at this point I was being snotty. I admit it. But still, the bartender saw me, another person (I think she worked there...she was cleaning up tables and whatnot) also saw me...but I got nothing. Nothing. So I faked a phone call and walked out. Stopped in here on our way home. We were in Salem for a concert. If this place was near my house, it's the type of place I would frequent often. The servers were so friendly!! Outstanding service and the guy sitting next to us was so funny. This place was surprisingly huge!! It looked like a hole in the wall.. But wow. We had breakfast. In all fairness, I've only been in late nights for bar service and eaten off the bar menu. The drinks are good and fairly priced. The late night menu has good and tasty options. There is touch tunes. There are games to play. Everything you'd want in a bar - EXCEPT service. You have to be a regular, a boyfriend or someone special to the bartender, or super pushy to get them to pay you attention in a timely manner. I don't live here, but my in-laws live in walking distance, so we frequent here when we're in town just to get a breather. In-laws can be intense , ya know? The last trip we probably stopped in on 3 different occasions. I would give this place all the stars if their service were up to snuff - but apparently that sort of thing isn't their thing. Never greeted by anyone, I eventually had to track down the bartender to let her know I was in need of service. When asked what was on tap (no drink menus anywhere) her relpy was "lots, what are you looking for?" Most people these days are looking for something new and interesting, something new to try, that's what I was looking for. Anyway... She took my order, brought me my food and that was the last I saw of her until, after waiting about 5 min at the bar to pay, she came in from outside and took my money. First of all if you are solely into atmosphere - turn around and walk out. BUT if you are a fan of well cooked comfort food, sit down and enjoy yourself! The menu has just been updated (yes, there are been a few modest price changes too) and added on to. There are daily specials. You can get 1/2 servings on some of the breakfast entrees - which are served all day. Friday and Saturday nights you can get very tasty prime rib. It seems as if there is only one server at a time - and the place is huge inside - so sometimes it can take a few minutes to get your order in, but it's worth it. The only negative thing I have to say is about their side veggies. Think they are canned and very bland - usually just don't eat them, but that's ok because the salad that comes with the meal is really good. The place was very accommodating to the mass of costumed party people with quick service, good sound system and a nice outdoor area. My server seemed nice as she took our order. I ordered pepsi and he ordered water with our dinner and asked for salt and pepper. A different server brought our salads but forgot the extra dressing that we requested. She then asked if we requested salt, our reply was yes. Salt and pepper. When she returned with the dressing, she had NO salt or pepper. We never saw her again. When our original server brought us out our dinner she never returned until she brought our bill. We never received our drinks or the salt and pepper. I ordered prime rib and baked potato. I received 2 sour cream and no horseradish. My pepsi was on our bill. When I brought this to her attention, she said, you both had water. I told her I ordered a pepsi and her reply was, she thought she brought it out to me. No, not even water. We had a dry dinner. I ordered my med rare, he ordered rare. I usually get my steak MED and thought mine was a little pink, but ate it anyway. They gave us the wrong steaks. I should of asked when they delivered them if mine was the med rare. I thought they would of known. If I had to rate my visit tonight, I would never return. We were considering using UberEats and realized that A.J.'s had a full menu. We thought it was just a bar. We decided since they had such a large range of food choices that we'd go in for a bite. The kitchen was a little behind because of the Uber orders but we didn't mind. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We sat at visited and it was a very comfortable atmosphere.
