We paid over $3k for a ripple fold sheer drape for our dining room. They arrived an hour after the 4-hour timeframe for our installation appointment and told us we would have to reschedule otherwise. The drape was made too short because they took the measurements incorrectly. They also did not steam the drapes properly so they were wrinkled with creases. They had to send someone to remeasure and we scheduled our second installation over a month in advance because we were traveling. On the day of installation, we waited all day for them and they did not show up or have the courtesy to let us know in advance. We only learned they were not coming because we called customer service. Now they have rescheduled us for over a week later on a day and at a time that doesn't work for us. The Shade Store lacks professionalism and is unable to deliver on the services they advertise as guaranteed and charge an exorbitant amount for. read more

My husband walked into the store Sunday afternoon to ask about a shade repair. The lady was busy on her laptop and barely looked up. Certainly no warm greeting. He inquired if they did repairs on shades. He received an abrupt "no", only for shades purchased at the store. Then asked if they recommended anyone for repairs. Another brusque "no". No attempt to ask about the repair needed, offer some advice, even attempt to sell a replacement shade from the store?? I guess he was interrupting her from something important. That's fine if the store doesn't do shade repairs. But how likely is it we would return to the store another time to buy a new shade based upon the customer interaction. The store has a very narrow targeted market, and a better effort should be made to promote the business. read more

Update: after my original review, Yareidy reached out to me from their client services team. I'm guessing this is the escalation team for client support. Yareidy was great, she ordered new hardware and had them expressly delivered, she scheduled the installation. All went well after she took over. I would give her 5 star for her service. With the overall experience, I'm upgrading it to 3 stars as an average. Original: It's being a very disappointing and frustrating experience with the shade store. Before I made the purchase, everything was smooth. The measurement was taken quickly and efficiently, Mary our SA was responsive. When I asked about when the installation would happen, she responded "shortly after the shipment". All good so far. Now after I made the purchase, then things started to fall apart. When scheduling the installation, the earliest I could schedule was three months out, far cry from "shortly after shipment". Called the Mary, after multiple emails, "nothing earlier" was the response. Installation day #1 comes, I took time off from work to be home for the installation. Got a call from store that morning, they can't do install today since the pro called in sick. Frustrated, rescheduled for the following week, pro showed up only to find out the brackets shipped was the wrong size and they couldn't do the install. Are you serious? Now almost four months later, I still don't have the shade. And Mary is not returning my phone call, so much for customer service, I'm beyond frustrated with them. read more

I am creating this review beause Jacob Winnick did an excellent job when installing the shade in my bathroom today. He had to reverse the roll on this shade to ensure the proper clearance for the handle for opening the window, and the shade fits perfectly because his modification. Jacob also documented a detail that was missed in the initial design of a shade cap that needs to be remade. I really appreciate his attention to detail. read more

We ordered shades and drapes for our entire house from the Los Altos shade store. It was more expensive than comparable options but we were promised a fast delivery so we went along. Unfortunately the post purchase experience has been abysmal. The drapes that were promised to be ready within 4 weeks have been on back order for 3 months now. You may recall that Yareidy Blanco from the Shade Store reached out to me, apologizing for the situation and asking me to email her directly so she could better understand the issue and help resolve it. I followed her instructions, and a few days later, I received a standard response from her, expressing regret over what had happened and assuring me that she was working to fix it as soon as possible. She then asked for a few dates when I'd be available so they could come out and install the shade. After that, there was complete radio silence. Days went by without any follow-up. When I did hear back, she told me that an appointment had been scheduled for a date that I had specifically mentioned I wouldn't be available. I asked her to reschedule, and she assured me she was working hard to get everything straightened out. Then, on the very day I had said I wasn't available--Thursday--I received a call at 7:30 AM from the Shade Store, informing me that the installer was on his way to my house. Despite my request to cancel the appointment, they had not done so. I had to scramble to stop the installer from coming out. When I called the 800 number, I was reprimanded by the person on the other end, who informed me that I could be charged for the installer's time since he was already on his way. I explained that I had notified Yareidy about the scheduling conflict and had been told she was working on rescheduling the appointment. I emailed Yareidy again to explain what happened and ask for an explanation. After waiting a few days with no response, it became clear to me that she was not going to be helpful and had only contributed to the ongoing issues with the Shade Store. Eventually, I was able to find an earlier email that connected me to an installer's schedule and managed to book an appointment for 12/21. The installer came out, but I was not satisfied with the work. The corners of the shade didn't line up properly, and he explained that the measurements were off, and the top of the window was uneven. He tried for over an hour to come up with a solution, but ultimately, he said the valance had been made incorrectly. While he did his best to cover up the discrepancy with fabric, this is not what I paid $1,500 for. He made a note of the issue but couldn't fix it. I emailed Yareidy again, detailing the ongoing problems and requesting compensation for the numerous issues I've experienced with both the Shade Store and this particular shade. As for getting the problem fully resolved, I will likely need to hire another company to fix the issue, as I have run out of both time and patience with the Shade Store. If you're considering using them for anything, I strongly urge you to reconsider. Please read the reviews and comments from other customers--they are real. Be prepared for long delays in receiving what you paid for, and if any issues arise, you'll likely be left to deal with them on your own. I will keep you posted on what compensation that they are willing to offer, at this point it is the least they can do. read more

Went to the store for check / browse of shades. The Middle aged woman in the store was extremely condescending, passive aggressive hinting and assuming that we cannot afford their drapes. The woman actually said "it's good you ordered drapes from somewhere else as you wouldn't have been able to afford ours as ours is expensive". I totally missed asking for the name of the woman. But she was working on Sunday 8th June around 130-230pm. When the person in the front line of service is passive aggressive, making assumptions about customers, I would stay away. The Inexplicable behavior is in Bay Area in Los Gatos location, where diverse culture and people thrive with pride. Disappointing experience to say the least! I'll be honest - I was afraid to go to The Shade Store because of reviews. But I decided to risk anyway and I don't even slightly regret about my decision. I met Jenny first time in November 2021. She was really friendly and professional. Helped me to select shades for the kid's room and for the living room - didn't press anyhow to buy more expensive options, which some sales people do. In December we ordered drapery and sheer layer there. Yes, there was small issues with the size, small communication issues on both sides. BUT! They fixed everything and today I finally received amazing motorized drapery. Their installers are amazing too - masks/shoe covers, really professional guys. READ OTHERS BAD REVIEWS! I unfortunately didn't read the reviews and now almost a year later I came here to leave a review on our horrible ongoing ordeal. Tatiana and others here at this location are Zero help! Like others reviews everything from measurements, material, installation, communication and anything else you can think of went wrong. The installer would install a blind with a clear defect in the material with zero thought to not install and correct. Some of the corner brackets that hold the blind were not even installed flush to the corner so the blind is not even level. Missed appointments, no returned calls, emails, or texts. I am reaching out to the bbb and my bank on Tuesday and am this close to uninstalling and dropping at their front door. Waste of almost 20k! Literally had to have my electrician come twice to then show them they were hooking up their connection backwards. Clearly a chain company with corporate promising to make it better but does absolutely nothing. I think they are ignoring our requests and or promising correction to get past any clawback period on the bank. I would not recommend anyone go to this company. It appears everything went downhill after the rep helping us left for maternity and we got put to the others. It appears from others reviews this is when others all started having experiences similar to ours or more like exactly like ours. Sharing a couple photos of the bad work. Veronica replied us on 8/6 and mentioned that they placed an 'expedited shipping' order for the appropriate brackets. Until now 8/20, it has been two weeks and we haven't received any update from her even we sent her two emails to check the status of the order. This is the worst customer service we've ever experienced. At least, the customer experience manager should response our email and say still monitor the status and keep us updated ... but again NO RESPONSE! We are sorry that we mention her name here. I never expected to go to this store in Las Gatos. But we were recommended to go there because they had the uv protection shades that we so desperately needed to protect our newly refinished hardwood floors. Yes, they were expensive. Jenny was our sales person and she was really very helpful in showing us what they carried and what works best. Her customer service was really great. The measuring person they sent out was also friendly and knowledgeable. They shades came within two weeks and were set up in a very timely manner by again another person who totally knew what they were doing. I highly recommend the Shade store. I ordered shades and vertical blinds for the 5 bedrooms and living room in my new house. I went into the store and service seemed fine. However it took way to many visits and too much time to get what I had ordered and paid for installed in my house correctly. First there were the missing vertical blinds. Then there was the vertical blinds that were too long, and the vertical blinds that needed extenders so that they could open (we have trim around our sliding doors), then there were the numerous visits were a shipment was sent and the invoice indicated the missing pieces, but the missing pieces were not in the shipment. It took almost 4 months from the time I ordered till my installation was complete. My last call to the company was to schedule a visit from an installer to correctly hang two vertical blinds. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the installation process and was told I would be getting a call within 24 hours, it never happened. The customer service agent had the right words but no follow through from the company. I wanted to add window treatments to my family room and am using a different company. I will not recommend or use the Shade Store again. I am so very sorry I didn't read previous reviews. read more

Highly highly recommend the Shade Store LG location - specifically Jenny who did the design and picked out shades and install team member Jacob. We have a unique bay window with a deep ledge that proved difficult when choosing what sort of window covering would work best for complete blackout but not be bulky. We ended up selecting an inside mount Roman shade in a classic linen color. I did wince a bit at the price tag initially (it's a huge window to cover), which led us to purchase a non-motorized version. Upon install I had instant buyers remorse given the size and weight of the shade causing it to be difficult to rise and lower and wish we just splurged for the motorized version. I immediately contacted Jenny and asked if we could add a motor after the fact - which they could not, HOWEVER Jenny was able to have our entire shade replaced free of charge, just only had to pay the difference for the motorized function! I was pleasantly surprised at that level of service and am sooo grateful for the resolution. We now have the motorized Roman shade installed and it's AMAZING. So so easy to use. Looks exactly like the nonmotorized, aka the motor does not add any bulk. Only needs to be charged once per year and can be connected to Apple HomeKit. I also have to say I love how personal the measure and install was - Jacob was there all three visits, for measuring, initial install of the motorless shade and again for the install of the motorized. Really really nice having familiarity with someone coming in and out of your home. He was so kind and friendly!! Again, I could not imagine a better experience, thank you so much Jenny and Jacob!! read more

They have a dog water bowl outside which immediately earns a star from my POV. I went inside (with my hydrated dog) and we checked out the store which has a huge variety of blinds. They didn't have the kind I need -- ones on tracks that I can install in front of skylights -- but they did steer me to a vendor that does provide them, which is a lot better than just saying "sorry we can't help you." If I need other types of blinds I'll be back! read more
