Greg showed us around the property, the lobby shop, brought us to our room and explained all the unique and exciting details of the house and property. We woke up each morning to a beautifully prepared breakfast. Since our trip was so last minute, we didn't have much of a plan. Greg was kind enough to sit down with us and help us map out our entire journey. He even helped us map an alternate route home that was more scenic. We didn't get to everything on the list, but everything he mentioned was perfect. You can tell he has a genuine love and passion for what he does. His advice and planning alone made the experience excellent. I can go on and on about the perfect stay we had. You can tell Greg and Willie are very passionate about what they do. This time it was very unsatisfactory due to changes made during the renovation. I've never seen a renovation where the rooms were made WORSE. They had removed the coffee table, a small rectangular table with two chairs where I used to eat my dinner and conduct business, and also the end table next to the couch so there was nowhere to put my purse, backpack, books, etc. They had also removed the closet area and replaced it with a few "knobs" with hangers. They had also removed a long shelf in the bathroom where I used to put my toiletries, now forcing me to leave them at the side of the sink or on the floor. Also removed any towel rods in the bathroom, again replacing them with colored "knobs" that look like something out of an IKEA showroom. I inquired at the desk if the removal of the furniture was permanent, if the table and chairs and coffee table would be put back. The clerk was not sure and said there was some furniture "on order" that had not arrived yet. She said "we don't like it either" referring to the removal of so many features from the rooms. I will not be staying in this property again unless there is furniture in the room! There is no place to sit and eat and nowhere to put many of my belongings.

Heat and ac work great. Bathroom was nice, good size tub. Plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner and soap. Good lighting throughout the room. Continental breakfast is good. Lots of choices. They use the big pump-topped bottles for toiletries instead of the single use bottles. The shampoo ran out after the first night. Standard breakfast choices: eggs, bacon or sausage, cereal, waffle, yogurt. Parking lot was big, never had a hard time finding parking. They should have more garbage cans, hotels usually one on each floor and near the exits.

As a side note, if you are looking for a place to stay that's close to a lot of food options or shops. This is not it. Most places close early or are not open every day of the week. A bunch of the cabins have a kitchen in it, but not all. This did not bother us! We found local small places to eat within 10 Minutes of Dartbrook.

Nancy made the whole experience great, a lovely person who takes her job seriously and is there for you. And that view, holy moly it was to die for. I grabbed my book and sat out in the Adirondack chair taking in what has to the the best view of Lake Champlain you are ever going to get. I made it a priority to spend some time in those chairs at some point every day and am missing it already!
