Wow!! This place is sooo unusual and that's a good thing! Multiple levels and just full of stuff - I found some plates from Restoration Hardware, a couple of vintage clothing pieces and right before leaving, noticed these amazing boho hanging glass lanterns. There's just so much unique stuff packed in everywhere that you could spend hours in here just searching for treasures. The only drawback was the heat - it was super hot and stuffy and that's never a good thing for a thrift store with the dust. I recommend visiting in cooler weather if that's an issue for you. read more

The main lady (I believe her name is April) is wonderful! I feel like she remembers my mom and I from each and every time we go in even if our visits are few and far between. I never leave empty handed and I always get great deals on everything I get! She always makes friendly conversation as we are checking out and takes her time and care wrapping up our breakable items. She usually includes a basket or tote bag for our items to make it home safely. Sadly, my husband and I have moved about an hour away so we don't get to come nearly as often now but when I come to visit my mom, we generally make a day of it and stop at The Share House! read more

I drive in from Dearborn often I love this place...It's my go to when I need clothes or kitchen things...also interesting trinkets.

I like shopping here and other thrift stores since it is more sustainable, I can find one of a kind items, saves money and usually goes to good causes. Sure, there is a lot of stuff here and you can let it get overwhelming, but there is so much, I can usually find what I am looking for and for a fraction of the new cost. I think the staff is very friendly and overall fair with pricing - sometimes at the checkout, items can be more than I was thinking, and sometimes much less, so I feel it all evens out. read more

Massive, well organized, a gift from god if you need a coffee maker, old razor blades, or almost free used candles. I had read some critiques of the workers, but during my visit it was the shopper who was incredibly rude: hectoring the worker about a price difference of two dollars and reminding her that they get their items for free as donations. Well guess what? Workers are donating their time (and their last nerve). Charities exist to raise funds for the needy. See shopping there as an act of giving rather than as a race to the bottom competition for the cheapest price. And things are plenty cheap. I got a $120 necklace for $15. I completely agree with the rudeness of the staff, especially the woman at the checkout. The first time we went, we encountered a lovely woman who was willing to bargain. These are items that are DONATED and are mostly junk. The next time we came, we encountered a woman that charged us twice as much for an unmarked item as the first woman did and was unwilling to bargain for buying multiple items. We went again, and picked up unmarked items that she wanted way too much money for. Whomever benefits from the sales at the Share House should get rid of the lady at the counter an mark their items to be bargains. They would make a lot more money. We won't be returning. read more

This place is a hipster's dream - a huge thrift store with decent prices. It's a bit dingy, but is fairly well-organized by department. There's just a lot to look through, so you just have to take your time and enjoy the hunt. overall I like it here. I do feel that whomever prices things often prices some stuff super high because they "think" it's collectible or worth something when it often isn't, (especially considering items are donated for free ) . But I enjoy a good "hunt". It's overwhelming with all the items in there and some items stay there too long based on over pricing but others are fine. It's just really random. My favorite form of retail therapy! The staff are wonderful people and are always glad you stopped by. Even better, you find amazing treasures like : stained glass panels, IKEA storage and furniture, cool pottery, and lots more. I just found a practically new butcher block chopping station. read more

I have been here many, many times and enjoy hunting through their collection of junk for treasures. The donations have been very thoroughly sorted into categories and the prices are extremely reasonable. I've gotten everything from furniture to toys to books to appliances to antique china here. It is not a corporate run thrift store and certainly has it's quirks but I have never experienced the type of service I've heard of other people referencing. The staff has always been polite and gone out of their way to be kind to my kids. I'll keep going back for more thrifty steals. read more

My 16 yr old son and his friends came in the the Share House because they had been there before and found some old computer items that were very cool. They sold my son an old computer for $15.00-that did not work. He posted the item on ebay attempting to make some money. That same day someone created a new ebay account and outbid another person at the last minute. When the item closed, the person sent him a message saying that their wife was admitted in the hospital and they needed longer to pay. My son gave him a 5 day extension. When it came down to it, they were messing with him, and never planned on paying. It was a complete attempt to screw with him and prevent him from selling the item. The messages they sent to him were immature and ridiculous. Gee......it was someone from the Share House that was mad after they figured out the price they sold the item to my son for was too low. That is not his fault, you sold it to him. These items are donated and the staff you have working there that would stoop to this level is absurd. This place should be closed down. By the way.....I am a keen investigator and you can figure out how I know it was you. read more

I would give them -1,000,000 stars if I could. DON'T go there and DON'T donate to them if you are Jewish. I was traumatized by the incredibly rude store manager and owner who then subsequently berated me and attempted to intimidate and censor me. It is my perception that both the owner and manager have entrenched politically correct antisemitism of the left-wing, anti-Israel, blaming the Jews for killing Jesus Christian variety. Prior to this visit, I visited there numerous times because I liked their selection but found the manager (whom I didn't know was the manager until today) to be consistently unfriendly through looks and how she talked to me. Today, I also discovered she is featured prominently in the numerous negative reviews of Share House, where they share rudeness towards and abuse of customers. As I had observed other times, the woman played favorites and was selectively nice to people who looked like white Christians but would then turn around and glare at me liked she disliked me and resented my being in "her" store. This particular visit, she glared at me when I walked in and then few additional times glared when I happened to walk by. At a point when I was looking at something near her counter, she said, "You need to move", instead of asking pleasantly. Then when I asked the price she sounded annoyed as said with her unfriendly voice and demeanor, "Nothing is marked here. I decide." This was in spite of the fact that many things DID have a price tag. I had had enough of her rudeness, and when I suggested she could be more pleasant, instead of apologizing she completely pretended I didn't exist when I was trying to talk to her - exponentially compounding her rudeness - she had taken rudeness to levels I had never seen before in someone who works retail. I had enough of her unfriendly attitude and mentioned this to another employee who informed me she was the manager. This employee me then directed me to the owner, who added a magnitude of insult to injury that is on the level of the richter scale. He lectured and threatened me for a good 30 minutes going on and on about how dare I associate antisemitism with the way I was treated and was told that I was lucky I wasn't escorted out of the building and told not to come back without a lawyer. The manager then dropped by and when I asked why she completely refused to talk to me after I suggested she be polite, she said she didn't want to interact with "my ugliness" turning this into a personal attack on me. The owner seemed obsessed with censoring me, any observations and thoughts I might have about my treatment and why I was treated so poorly. They put me in the position of repeatedly saying I came to their store to shop, not to sue people. I hadn't threatened to do anything but the owner kept mentioning my accusation was serious and was of a legal nature which also makes me wonder if they have been sued for discriminating against people. The owner kept lecturing me about how serious it was that I shared I thought manager's behavior towards me reflected antisemitism (I stand by this). If ever there was an antisemite, this manager was it. As Jewish person who has endured antisemitism over the years, I think I am a better position than the owner evaluate what happened when he did not witness what happened and am fully entitled to my opinions as to why this woman treated me this way. Anyone who is a minority can relate to that one. That the owner EVEN HAS A POLICY of escorting people who feel they are being discriminated against off the premises says volumes - it says that there evidently have been numerous incidents of them discriminating against customers, undoubtedly many of them Jewish. I will never go back and urge everyone else to stay away. If you are Jewish, don't donate your family's belongings to an organization that turns around and treats Jewish customers in a politically correct antisemitic fashion and defends a manager who is ugly both inside and out. In looking at other reviews, I see other people have been subjected to this horrible manager's rudeness. I am not a vindictive person and probably would not have written this review if the owner had not treated me in an abusive fashion, traumatized me by not allowing me to end the conversation, forcing me to endure 1/2 hour of threats, harangue and offensive, insulting personal attack by him and his manager, as he repeatedly made implied threats in a concerted effort to intimidate, censor and even silence my freedom of thought and speech, telling me I was not entitled to interpret how I was treated and why I was treated that way. As a woman who endured an abusive relationship in the past with a man, I refuse to be intimidated by this abusive man and his antisemitic manager - and it was their threats and abusive behavior that compelled me to write this detailed review and not allow myself to be intimidated by them. read more

This is still my 'go-to' thrift store (for now), but I'm not pleased with the changes since Ann retired. The shelves appear more organized, but stuff is now encroaching the aisles on the floor which is a trip hazard and makes using the carts almost impossible in half the store. As others have mentioned, the pricing is becoming ridiculous. This is stuff they get FREE from donations, then sell, and the proceeds benefit other charities like Avalon Housing for homeless and low income families. In addition, the people who buy this stuff are probably half and half people looking for bargains/people who can't afford to buy new and need their own help. In other words, Share House throughout its history has helped people at every side of its business (people can get rid of stuff, people get helped from the money they make, and people are able to buy decent stuff to help make their house a home). Now, I've heard one of the women talking about going on ebay to find out how much to price some of the items, and the bargaining for multiple items is worse than haggling at a garage sale. It's very disappointing. I used to donate and buy from there quite frequently and now I'm looking for a different place. I how they change back to how they used to do business. read more

We've been going to The Share House for several years. It's always been one of the thrift stores we especially enjoyed checking out while in Ann Arbor. Lots to look at in this very large thrift store. In the recent past however, a woman (age late 50's?) with darkish-color short hair seems to be in charge and she has a very brusque manner. Most of the items in the store are not priced, so this woman prices at the checkout, item by item. She then prices things very high, some items are nearly as expensive as new retail. I do understand this is for charity, however I don't wish to pay as much for used items than I would for brand new. While this woman has never been friendly and is usually quite short-acting; recently she was especially rude. First, she overpriced a couple of items that I (politely) told her I did not wish to buy, when she loudly quoted the price at checkout. Then, she very quickly threw all of my items in a plastic bag (I had several heavy books, small metal items and a couple of small fluorescent lightbulbs, and she definitely knew this) and she then picked up the bag and then SLAMMED the bag down on the counter VERY hard. I was completely stunned! I've never seen any staff member--even in a thrift store--act so hostile toward a customer. I truly do not know what her official position is at the thrift store, but she was VERY out of line and clearly needs to obtain some much better customer service skills. I truly hope her supervisors will make this happen. I've also witnessed/overheard her treating several other customers on different occasions quite rudely in the past. Unfortunately, as long as she is treating customers in this manner, The Share House is no longer one of the best in AA, IMO. I'll be donating, supporting and shopping at others. read more

Your prices seem way to high lately, your pricing system is crazy, for a thrift store it's supposed to be more affordable for those who can not afford to shop else where. When you use a blue tag it should only be one price not $1-$3 bucks. blue should be $1, red should be $2 and white should be $.50, and so on. Value world was a huge thrift store and was a lot cheaper than you guy's. I've also seen too much broken stuff put out that should probly be trashed instead of sold. please please change your prices you are selling used items not new, even if it's new it should not have a high price on it. there are also places like the salvation army that do free clothing day once a month to those who are in need, I suggest you try this with those families in need, it will also promote business. we are a community of helping others. my business donates to a lot of families, free clothes and food! Having shopped at many non profit thrift stores in Ann Arbor area, I know what price ranges should be on goods. The ShareHOuse prices are very high on most run of the mill goods!! Also, the woman who prices (verbally) the items and whom one must pay is quite abrupt and not at all personable as is the case at the other outlets, notably Habitat Restore, Goodwill, PTO thrift shop,etc. With all the thousands of bric a brac items at ShareHouse and given they are all donated, the manager ought to get rid of them daily by offering reasonable prices and being pleasant. I simply don't enjoy shopping in such a cluttered and (due to the manager) unfriendly and inflexible environment. I will not recommend that store to others if they have the time to shop around and compare prices and ambiance.!! read more

I love this place. It's great for board games, toys, and random clothing items. Yeah, it's crowded and a little on the dingy side, and you'd better not be in a hurry if you're here . . . but I can usually find what I'm looking for (kitchen items and board game pieces are common items for us). Hit-or-miss on video games because it all depends on what's been donated, but we've scored some good ones over the years. Definitely one of my go-to thrift stores. read more
