Food was decent but not worth $$. Service was average. Manager service was bad. My party of 4 were seated at 5:30. There were at least 20 empty tables and we were seated near the window with sun coming in directly on my back. AC was not low enough and I started sweating about 2 minutes after sitting. I requested another table and was told no. Others in my party were also uncomfortable because internal temp. We requested the AC be adjusted because we were not comfortable. We were told AC was set and wouldn't be adjusted. All this happened through our server. Manager NEVER made an appearance at our table. Clearly did not give a crap if we were comfortable or not!! We ate at the Summit for our Anniversary and it was excellent! Our waitress was very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The appetizer was very good and came out long enough before the meal you could enjoy it. The meal came and I had the Ribeye and my wife had the filet and both were cooked perfectly to taste and as ordered. The atmosphere was very warm and relaxing but yet still upper end. So here is the real deal please read the entire review so you get the why it is good part... first, the bad...Hostess has no idea what customer service is unfortunately, but it may be the fact that she learned from the manager Denise... Absolutely the worst manager on the planet. Customer Service is not in her vocabulary. Excuses and crappy management are her strength. I also witnessed her telling people how to manage the bar, and it's clear she either doesn't understand how to run a bar or she just likes to put useless rules in place... once we decided that we were not going to let these two ruin our night, we walked into the bar and met Ben and Max... the entire evening flipped. Great customer service, phenomenal attitudes, great recommendations and fantastic drinks... we decided to eat at the bar where we felt welcomed and could have some fun... sure glad we did... The food was amazing... Swordfish and Penne Sausage... I can't believe that we've never had dinner here before! We love the bar but honestly had not heard great things about the restaurant. We wanted to leave a review because i'd hate for others to pass this place up! We had a fabulous dinner. I had the Summer Harvest dinner and added grilled salmon. It was perfection. My husband had the ribeye and said that it was great. Our friends had the Blackened salmon primavera and the lobster ravioli special and said they were both great. Really wanted to love it here... I made reservations for 8pm. We were not sat until 8:40.... The owner came out to apologize and get us drinks around 8:20.... We did not receive our drinks until 8:55. Wow. The owner asked what the occasion was and my husband replied it was his birthday. We ordered the char grilled oysters and they were very small and dry dry dry. Then we ordered the mushroom caps and they were the star of the show. My husband ordered the 16oz steak and said it was sub par. He gave me a piece of it and it was grisly. I ordered the salmon over mash and cream sauce- the salmon was crusty and dry - as if it had been under a heating lamp for too long. Next time you make a visit to Shangri-La - get reservations for Docs outside area- it looked so cozy and if you have kids they have corn hole. The atmosphere was interesting, and prestigious to say the least. This is a High Class restaurant, and it took me some time to figure out how to treat it as such. I've been to this restaurant multiple times, for family events. The one tiff I have with this establishment is their menu, there are less then 6ish Entrees to choose from. If you're a member, they will treat you with respect, and the service will be better then any other. However I have heard different things if your not. So I suppose it's all on perspective. Took my wife out for birthday. Great experience at the Summit. Ty he room is warm and big, but cozy and comfortable . Nice place for a special occasion or to impress clients or a special someone. First they had Buffalo Trace bourbon which is getting harder to find. I had Pork Tenderloin in a bed of mushroom hash. My wife had the Salmon. Both were well executed, fresh and delicious. This restaurant will not allow you to sit by a window unless you are a member. Since there won't be any good view, why not go somewhere else to celebrate a special occasion? For the money, you will easily be able to find another nice restaurant with better ambiance, romance, and basic respect. Also, don't let allow them to push the Coconut cream pie. We had a really nice meal. We were staying at the resort and spent our final evening here. Drinks were done well. Our server was pleasant. The food was great. My husband and our friends all ordered steaks, they all were very happy with them. I ordered the cauliflower steak and it was very flavorful and I appreciated the vegetarian option. The deserts were the only disappointing part of the meal. We ordered the brownie with mousse. It came straight from the fridge and was hard and difficult to eat. Our reservation was never confirmed via phone like they said. Still got sat though. The French onion soup and the Nola shrimp were good. Ordered a Caesar salad and it got forgotten. When it came out the croutons were soft as could be and the lettuce was warm and wilted like it had been made and was sitting. The prime ribeye was nightmarishly fatty and one of the worst cooked, and seasoned, pieces of meat I've ever eaten anywhere. I've had better steaks on airplanes. The salmon in the salmon pasta was cooked to leather. The server only came by once or twice. We asked for a dessert menu and intended on ordering at least a couple deserts but the server just never returned so we finally said screw it and asked a hostess to get our bill. If this place was $20'a person, it'd be bad. For $60 an entree it's so terrible it's like a joke is being played on you. read more

Having grown up with Grand Lake as a second home on the weekends, I was excited about the recent changes in Shangri-La with the beautifully redesigned golf course (with white sand!) and the gorgeous new clubhouse with the Summit restaurant, Buffalo Bar, and pro shop in it. The Summit is on the second floor immediately when you walk in the front doors with plenty of parking. I called to make dinner reservations for my mom's birthday the day of the dinner without any problem. Upon arriving, we were immediately seated at a table with large, leather chairs. They have no booths, but the chairs are amazing and comfortable. The interior design has a wooden cabin feel, but with high-end elegance. Some people were dressed up, some golfers were there after playing. No one wore jeans, but I saw hats and tennis shoes. You don't have to be a member to eat there, but if you are, you can charge the meal to your member account. Pros: - Two different breads arrive before the meal, one has olives in it and tastes like bread dipped in olive oil and the other is plump breadsticks with a light garlic taste- yum! - The filet mignon comes out as a hearty 10 ounces, plenty big for a filet and has very good flavor! - The BBQ salmon arrives as a good portion too with yummy square potatoes in a creamy sauce on the side! - They brought my mother a complimentary dessert trio including mint pie with Oreo crust, coconut crème pie, and peanut butter pie, and all three were delicious! - The wine list is nice, and I enjoyed their cabernet sauvignon options ($11-$14 a glass). - The staff was very kind, accommodating, and made our evening wonderful! Cons: - The sides are very small, so order soup or salad before your meal arrives. Their ranch dressing is very good! With the filet mignon, I received three pieces of asparagus and three pieces of zucchini/squash, that's all. It normally comes with a few fingerling potatoes, but it's not anymore in portion. - The "special of the night" came with fried okra, and I didn't get the special, but wanted a side of okra. I told them I would even pay extra for a side of the okra, but the waitress said the chef only had enough okra for those who ordered the special. Really? That's lame. Why not keep it in stock (easy to store in the freezer) and have it available as an up-sale for those, like me, who really craved fried okra after it was mentioned by the waitress?! Expectations: - The prices at the Summit are comparable to a good Dallas steakhouse, so I was not shocked by the sticker prices having lived in Dallas for 5 years now, but those used to Tulsa restaurants need to expect to pay more for a bit less at the Summit when comparing them. The seabass and filet mignon run around $45 just for the meat and small sides. They also have vegetarian plates for around $28, so there is food variety which I really like in case you're not in the mood for meat or fish. Reservations recommended in advance! We will definitely go back since we spend a lot of weekends at our lake house nearby and would like to try lunch next time! read more

When it came to the food the appetizer (oysters) were over cooked and had the appearance of sitting under a heat lamp for some time. The steak was "ok", however had quite a bit of fat for what was to have been a "prime cut". The service however was the absolute worst I've ever had read more

The restaurant seemed to have enough staff to service the few parties that were there on a Thursday night however, our service was very poor. We had to flag waitress down each time we wanted to order next beverage or food item. This is a members only club unless you have played golf that day or are a hotel guest. Beware you will not receive the same treatment as the regulars. Food is average and overpriced for what you get. The view is fantastic but that's it. read more

Ambiance: really pretty decent! This feels like a nice little joint inside a golf club. Pretty on the outside and pleasant, cozy on the inside. Food: Just fine to good. The charcuterie board was not much to write home about. A steak at our table was waaaay overdone and the waitress didn't offer to do anything about it. The pasta primavera with chicken was just fine. Wine: Limited selection, and even stuff on the menu, they didn't necessarily have. Which seemed weird-it wasn't like an extensive menu with rare bottles. Pretty standard stuff, so it was weird they were out of certain bottles on a Friday night when they knew a ton of reservations were coming in due to a work retreat at the resort. Service: not good. I think the young lady who had our table meant very well, but she clearly was not trained to be in a restaurant like this. She was accidentally insulting when a bottle of wine was ordered "You know that's a whole bottle, right?" to a little misogyny when a woman at our table ordered wine, but she came back and addressed a man at the table about the wine not being available. Took well over 40 minutes for the first bottle of wine to even get back to our table, and this was before they were busy. Food took forever to come out. Water glasses did not get refilled often. Still the best fine dining on Grand Lake in my opinion. I always have one word for their food - excellent. This is our first trip back to Grand since last fall. I believe they've added or changed up their menu some - this is always good. They were busy and of course we didn't make reservations... but they did seat us in the bar area and that was perfectly fine with us as we enjoy sitting in the bar. But the hostess sat us a dirty table and then it was at least 5 to 10 minutes before someone came over. Not sure this was our waitress's fault and she more than made up for it with her excellent service. I started with a heirloom tomato and eggplant salad - it was so good. It was stacked with grilled eggplant, tomato and mozzarella. Next up we shared the chicken artichoke pasta bake. It was a light sauce with perfectly grilled chicken. The flavors all came together - wonderful dish and the perfect amount for us to share. While we still had a portion of a bottle of wine to finish, our waitress talked us into a dessert and coffee. She recommended the coconut cream pie. Three letters - OMG. It was by far the best coconut cream pie I've ever had. It was layered almost like a cake but it was a pie. You'll have to go try that one for yourself - I don't even know how to describe it. Now that lake season is starting, it's best to make reservations if you have more than 2 in your party. While they have always accommodated us, we've noticed they get busier and busier each time to visit. This is what happens when word gets out that this place really is that good. read more

This was absolutely terrible! We got the stuffed chicken and the angel hair pasta. The pasta was so dry and the stuffed chicken was stuffed with absolutely nothing. The lettuce wraps we got we're rancid, and had black mold on the inside! The manager wouldn't even take a minute to speak with us. I had high expectations and I was just disappointed. Nice restaurant, but being closed to the general public is a disappointment even if you can afford it. One of the finest dining around but if you are not a member or guest of the resort, forget about it. Food is nothing to write home about. They bank on out of town personnel and members, you'd be better off traveling to another destination. I've eaten there a few times when it was open to the public, now I wouldn't give a dime to this place. One would be better off to travel to a different town or state for fine dining. Service was great! Very clean. Great atmosphere. However, the food quality was extremely poor. I ordered the Linguine meatballs, nachos, chicken Alfredo, lobster Mac and Cheese and French fries for my family and I. The meatballs were frozen, the chicken on the nachos and Alfredo and fries were half cooked. Eddy's and Doc's down the road is a different atmosphere but food is a lot better. read more

For being Shangri-La's "premier" dining establishment... I was unimpressed. Our server had the personality of a brick. We had to ask her what the special was. We had to ask her for more water. We had to ask for the bread and butter that everyone else had on their table. She seemed put out that we didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a bottle of wine. My wife asked her to substitute a side Caesar salad for the asparagus that came with her filet. She didn't say anything, just wrote down the order. Side salad came out and so did the asparagus so we weren't sure what happened there. The "prime rib" was just a ribeye... when asked for au jus she said "we don't have that"... it was overly cooked and not a piece of prime rib! The mashed potato's and asparagus were very bland and less than desirable. When we got our check, she added a side salad instead of substituting it. My wife asked her about it and she said "you can't substitute anything, you get what comes with it". I said "do you not tell the guest that there are no substitutions and it would be an up charge?" She responded "not generally" and walked away. The only reason I'm giving it a 2 star is because the steak had good flavor! Good luck. read more

For the grand lake area this is the finest you will find. Atmosphere is upscale hunting lodge with fine furnishings. The food was very good, service was good as well, but server lacked knowledge of entrees had to check when questioned. We ordered the pan fried trout which came with a small side of risotto and grilled squash. We had crab cakes for appetizer as well as goat cheese salad w/candied pecans. Everything was delicious and served on very large plates with fancy sauces dancing around them. I PREDICT THIS GEM ON GRAND LAKE WILL SOON BECOME A "MUST DO" DESTINATION RESORT! Having lived on or around Grand Lake all my life, our dinner last night at Shangri Lodge's new Summit Restaurant and Buffalo Bar convinced me this lovely resort will once again be THE destination resort in the near future. Offering golf, a marina on the lake, and the club house with world class dining presently, I believe it's ready to take the next step and offer accommodations that equal this phenomenal experience. Can't wait to watch it all unfold. Upon arrival, we were struck by the grandeur of the entrance and immediately welcomed by Jason, the general manager. Once inside the doors and up the stairs, we were graciously greeted by the restaurant staff and immediately shown to our table in the Buffalo Bar, adjacent to the Summit, the more formal part of the restaurant complex. The Buffalo Bar has watch parties for various sporting events, so we came to watch the OKC Thunder. Their big screen TV's are placed around the area so each table has a good view. So far, so good! Rachel was our server and immediately took our drink order, made sure we had water, and answered questions about the menu. Hubby wanted a beer and found out they have a huge selection. Stephen, a longtime friend, noticed us and came over to warmly welcome us for our first visit. He knows I am a wine drinker and noticed I hadn't ordered anything yet, so he brought me their extensive wine menu and made several suggestions. I chose the Pinot he suggested and it was perfect! We had studied the menu before coming so already knew what we were going to order, but listened as the specials were expertly explained to us in detail. We ordered the trio of tacos and the nachos, as planned, because we wanted "bar food" and basketball for our evening out. I must say, we got that and MUCH more! The nachos were not your run of the mill nachos. Who knew a simple plate of nachos could become this delicious, crispy, complex flavored mound of goodness. Scrumptious! Rachel then placed our trio of tacos at our table and we were struck by how beautiful and inviting three "simple" tacos could be. Each taco had its own special salsa or sauce. Our favorite was the Wasabi, diced tuna taco with pineapple corn relish. I could have eaten a bowl of that relish! Hats off to Chef Brad. We had planned to have dessert, but even though we split our meal, were too full. Stephen suggested we might take a dessert to go, but hubby was having none of it. In retrospect, we now wish we had. All in all, it was a fabulous evening. Our Thunder won, we ate delicious food, and were pampered by wonderful service. This is a special place on Grand Lake! Great for a drink and upscale bar food options or a memorable dinner in the dining room second to none in Oklahoma City or Tulsa! The staff is willing to help with special requests an needs, the food is delicious and meets most any taste someone might have. Fine Dining would be my description of the food in the main dining room, other options are eating in the beautiful bar with awesome views of the golf course and Grand Lake! Prices are on the upper end f what you find here on the lake but always delicious and terrific presentation! You may run into local celebrities or just great Grand Lakers enjoying the weekend! If there was a negative star I would give it for manager customer service alone. We ordered chicken alfredo and salmon then 15 minutes later were told they were out of chicken. We said okay, we'll take the alfredo without it. Then dinner came and it was chicken alfredo...with chicken. While that sounds like a miracle and something short of awesome, it wasn't. As we ate our alfredo we kept waiting for the salmon to show up..which it never did. Instead the manager and chef showed up at table side to bash the server for telling us they were out of chicken "how could she get those confused we don't know". And then they asked if we wanted smoked salmon...ummm....no. For the prices your are charging you need to get your *%it together and get a real manager and chef. Smoked salmon is an appetizer meat btw...they took the salmon off the check and only took the $22 Alfredo off after we asked them to..the manager should have been all over that, we had been there over an hour and half with no real contact from the server or manager. Once they came out to tell us how bad the waitress screwed up we never saw them again and had to hunt them down for the check. Our company is up here for the next 2 months and I will let everyone know about the unprofessionalism. What a wonderful experience! This was the perfect date night atmosphere, very nice but not uncomfortable. The lobster fritters were fantastic. My husband had the Seafood Alfredo and I had the Chicken Kiev, both dishes were delicious! The service was excellent as well. We live on the other side of the state but it was well worth the drive.
