We arrived to find the place absolutely packed and buzzing with energy. Since it was their Grand Opening, I was told at check-in that they were completely booked for the evening. I was admittedly disappointed, but the owner, Kevin, overheard us and said he might be able to work something out. He certainly did! Kevin seated the five of us at a pub table in the beautiful main bar and assured us he would work on finding us a larger, more comfortable table. Considering how incredibly busy the restaurant was, we were impressed that our drink order was taken almost immediately. Our cocktails and ice cold Guinness arrived quickly, which was no small feat given the crowd! Kevin continued to keep us updated, and before we had even finished our drinks, he had moved us to a larger, cozy table where we could relax and enjoy our dinner. That kind of personal attention and hospitality really stood out. The menu offers an extensive selection with plenty of Irish favorites. The braised lamb shank was fantastic, the Shepherd's pie was delicious, and the fish and chips were quite tasty. There was something for everyone, and everything we tried was thoroughly enjoyed. The server was great as well! The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. The main bar truly captures the spirit of an Irish pub while presenting it in an upscale, sophisticated way. It's lively, welcoming, and has a wonderful atmosphere. A big shout-out to Kevin for going above and beyond to make sure our group was taken care of, especially on such a crazy busy Grand Opening night. That level of hospitality makes a lasting impression. Delany's Public House is definitely a welcome new addition to our community, and Kevin has already created a repeat customer in me. Hot, fresh delicious and good portion! The fries were a HUGE disappointment! They were stuffed and smashed in a tin cup, which may have been the problem. The fries really just sucked!!! The were nothing but warm, not hot, mushy pieces of potatoes. Huge disappointment when served with a great burger! Our other entree was their "Spice Bag" with 'Crispy Chicken' and served with a really really tasty Irish Curry Gravy. It was served IN a foil bag. NOT a great decision for fried food!! There was a nice portion of still somewhat crispy chicken and yup, a bag full of soft mushy potatoes that were supposed to be fries. Since the fries were such a big part of both meals, I have to give my overall experience a 3. I've been to Allswell in Waterside a few times and EVERY time I had an experience that earned them a 5.
