We eat at the Shed every so often and have enjoyed our visits. If you're in the mood for some bar food and cold beer, this is the place to come! I have really liked their burgers, Salado Sliders and nachos. As much as I enjoy some of those indulgences, I do wish there were at least a few more healthier options available. Came here (for the first time) on a Thursday night to grab a beer with a friend. Bartender was rude. Not friendly or approachable. Stood there and looked at me without saying anything as I came up to the bar. Not professional (nor good) about describing and selling product. (All IPA's apparently taste like s**t). I ordered the Salado Sliders (pulled pork sliders with slaw) and sweet potato fries. When I received my food, the sliders were lukewarm and the fries were unseasoned. While the food wasn't anything incredible, the service definitely made up for it as the beautiful young ladies serving the customers were very kind, and kept up with their tables well. On top of this, the restaurant has a lot of personality to it, a perk of small town eateries. I definitely recommend stopping in if you're going through town. read more

Went to the shed tonight for dinner with my son and the restaurant was pretty busy. The older lady in the pink shirt was very rude to us at our table. We were seated by the hostess and she walked up to our table and asked in a very rude tone who sat us there and proceeded to tell us that she needed our table for other people. She went over to the girls and was very forward about who and why we were sat at that table, mind you I saw and heard her tell the staff not to seat anyone else well after we had sat down. Went there today after a motorcycle ministry function we had. For appetizer, I had the bacon wrapped jalapeños stuffed with cheese. Delicious! Got five of them for $10. I don't agree with the price, as I believe they are prices to high. Either way, they were great. I ordered the Shed Burger on sweet jalapeño bun with chips. The burger was $7.95. The cheese was an extra $1 or 1.50. The bacon was an extra 1.50. They wanted $3 for an extra patty. Was the burger good? Yes. Was it absolutely great? No. What-A-Burger tastes better in my opinion. The patty was about 1/3 pound. The bun was way bigger than the patty was. I believe they charge extra for fries as well. I just felt nickeled and dimed to death at this place. Also, we had made reservations as we had quite a lot of people going. It was still a good 30 mins or longer before we got outlet food. If your in the area, stop by, but don't go out of your way. read more

Oh wow! Found this place on Yelp as a half way point to meet family for lunch. It was perfect! Amazing friendly staff allow us to sit on the back patio with our leashed dog. (Yes, I had research ahead to see if they are pet friendly and respectfully asked again when we got there as I understand policies can change for any place of business as is their right - Thank you The Shed for letting us have our little one sit with us while we ate on the day we went.) Rachel took care of us and she was super! We ordered 2 burgers, a chicken tender slider entree and a kid's pizza. The burgers were OMG! delicious! The jalapeno bun was flavorful but not hot perfectly complementing the huge juicy patty cooked med-well topped with cold crisp lettuce, tomato and the right amount of mustard. The kettle chips are top notch or for a worth it extra $2 you can get their battered fries which were sooooo good!!! The pizza was a hit with the kiddo and the chicken tender sliders were apparently good because they disappeared quickly! The decor is cozy country. Love the church windows in the bar area, the chandelier hanging above the entry and in addition to the inside seating, the back enclosed porch, there is a nice outdoor courtyard in the back - basically lots of room for any party size large or small. It's easy to find right off of Main St down Royal St on the left side. One of the coolest places we've been on our road trip! From the gravel floors to the dollar bills on the ceiling, there's something to see everywhere you look. This place is pretty awesome! We were up here visiting family and getting ready for a half marathon, and we were going to cook dinner, but it got late and we were starving so they suggested here. Okay, cool, I don't have to dress up, I'm down! It's a really neat looking place, seemingly nestled in some scenic trees and hills; I couldn't be sure as it was dark and rainy, but that's the impression I got. This was a Friday night, and they were busy, but we got seated right away, at the worst seat in the place. No, literally, the sign says sit at your own risk! It's the table right under the only air conditioner/heater for the whole place, so it can't be turned off, and it was blowing out a lot of heat that night. Plus blowing napkins and stuff off the table. Luckily I was freezing, so the heat felt great, but hubby was uncomfortable. The place has character though, the floor is uneven, and it really is a shed! I bet the patio is nice in the warmer months though! Hubby and I ordered the bacon wrapped jalapenos....man they were good! Then, since I was starving, and thought it would be a good idea, I ordered a pizza. A large pizza. Yeah. I kinda didn't think that one through. It was big! It was really, really good though. I couldn't eat it all and took it to munch on the next day. Hubby ordered a burger and wasn't really impressed. He thought it was really dry; it looked like they overcooked the burger and not juicy at all. My niece ordered pulled pork nachos and those were good, but they didn't have much queso on them, and the bbq sauce was a little overpowering to me, but she enjoyed them. Went in today for lunch with friends and got the Shed Pie, their version of Frito pie. Less than an hour after eating it I had explosive diarrhea and vomiting. Nothing fancy or fussy, just super good and tasty, fast and fresh. The lettuce and pickles were nice and crispy crunchy...the beef was real, cooked just right and not greasy....the bun added the WOW factor to my meal. If I were a vegetarian, I would order this meal, minus the meat, and be a happy camper 'cause the bun is soooooo good! I had chedder on my burger but had the option of swiss or blue. I am a big eater and I couldn't finish this meal with the fries. It's not a small burger by any means and the meal price is very reasonable ($8.95 with the sweet potato fries). This was the perfect finale to our day of wine tasting and shopping in Salado. Service: The place seemed moderately busy with about 3/4 of the tables occupied. Even so, the staff was both friendly and fast. Our drinks were refilled without waiting. We were checked on a few times (they didn't bug us and they didn't ignore us...seemed just right to me). Menu: I can't speak to the rest of the menu since hubby and I both had burgers. Yes, the menu is limited to typical pub/tavern fare (local pub, duh?)...still, hubby and I agree the burgers and service were great! Bottom line: Great burgers, great service, great coffee excellent bargain. Pulled pork pizza is freaking amazing. OMG! The pulled pork nachos and baked potato pizza are also really really awesome. The best casual place to have chill with a beer and your friends in Salado. There's also gluten free items on the menu. My son loves the shed pie. They've got out door seating so it's really nice on a beautiful day. It's really kicked back so your kids can relax and there plenty of space for them to run around outside in the courtyard area. Plus they are very pet friendly. read more

After having a canceled flight in Corpus Christi due to weather, we rented a mini van to drive all the way back to Dallas. We found this place by chance and it was just awesome. Horrible Management...Over Priced Food Went there with family on Mother's Day 2018. I ordered frito pie without jalapeños. My order came out loaded with jalapeños. I'm very allergic to them. I asked if they would kindly replace it with another and i was told they couldn't, but could order another one. WHAT? Therefore I asked if they could take it off my bill. They would not do that either. I'm so serious, I could not believe it. For 5 of us, our bill was over $100 for nachos, hot dogs, and frito pie that wasn't touched. I will NEVER return to this place. My family and I are new to Texas and we thought we found the perfect place to get our wing fix, we make the drive from Coppers Cove to Salado every single Wednesday for wing Wednesday, last night was the very last time I will ever step foot into this building. So to begin with the wait time was extremely long so we figured we would order to go it would make it quicker and we could go home and eat, we ended up being in this restaurant for about an hour and a half to two hours waiting on our food. When we ordered our meal it's like they were confused and didn't understand what we were talking about even though we repeat ourselves about four different times with a manager present. So my family and I go sit outside waiting for our meal in that time I had three different employees come and complain about how crappy they get treated at their job and the pay is horrible. Which we thought was pretty weird so finally when we get our meal everything was wrong so we went to the front and talked to who we gave our order to and the manager in hopes to have something fixed the manager was extremely rude to us and kept walking away from us. Everybody kept giving us excuses that people are brand new and was having a little trouble on a busy night but I have been coming since November every week and I have seen the same exact workers. I was told what I ordered for is not allowed to be done and that's "not the chef's style" (all I asked for was medium buffalo and lemon pepper mixed together for my 12 wings, but Like I said every week I come to this place I have never had a single issue before) so I asked for the manager to come back out in a totally different manager comes out and stands at the counter staring at me doesn't say a word to me. I tell her what the problem is she disappears and at that point our patients are out the window I asked for extra sauce because the wings were dry they brought me a tiny cup of sauce out and that was all we got. We called the manager to explain why we were so unhappy and didn't understand why our total came out to be so high when the wings were on a special they proceeded to tell us since we ordered to go wings were $.75 apiece all the issues we had they didn't express anything to be a problem when we ordered it so when we called the lady over the phone gave us every excuse under the book their attitudes were absolutely terrible and I will never recommend this place to a soul again and I will never step foot and waste a single dollar in this establishment again if I'm not mistaking I think the managers name was Elaine Who we had the major issue with. The other manager that we spoke to over the phone and in person never told us her name so I'm not too sure who she was. In the process of all of this for some reason the employees regular customers were in our business because they were all talking crap about what we were dealing with to them the most unprofessional place I have ever come in contact with Also judging by the photos on their Facebook page I wouldn't expect them to be very clean seeing as how they had cigarettes lying around on the line where all of the food sit read more

I've had the: Shed Burger, BBQ Chicken Pizza, Chili Cheese Fries and Chicken Caesar Salad. All have been winners. When I rate a business, I consider price and local competition, and The Shed is really the best Salado has to offer. Good beer on tap (usually), and the mixed drinks are innovative and The Shed finds a way to put its twist on classics while not altering them so much as to be unrecognizable. The jalapeno stuffed olive in the bloody mary is a perfect example. I want to give it 5 stars but can't...yet. The cutlery and weird variable service and wait times prevent me from doing so. I've been there when it's busy and gotten served in 15 minutes. I've been when it was nearly empty and it took 45 minutes(for similar items). Good place to eat and/or drink with friends, just don't get a DUI on your golf cart. read more

Hamburgers generally good but tend to be on the messy side. Hot dogs are foot longs and kinda pricy. Ate with a friend and his order for a dog, iced tea and fries was just under $20 with tip. Would love to have given 4 stars but there were just a few things that were not up to snuff here. Hamburgers were very good, quality and fresh, yummy buns but took forever and a day to get a burger and a salad. Don't come here for a quick bite. We sat on the patio and while service was very friendly, everyone kept having to get up to get their own plastic cutlery, condiments etc. (by the way, Shed, please get some better quality plastic cutlery). I think there is so much 'good stuff' going on here but the Shed is missing a few service details. It's a MUST DO while in Salado but bring your patience. read more

I decided earlier today to treat myself to a special lunch. Thought about a shed burger and how great that would taste. Arrived, they were busy but not too busy. Young man came and took my order. Seem to be having a hard time writing it down. Young lady brought me my drink and I started to wait. After other people around me who had been seated 10 minutes after I arrived got their meals. I asked the young lady to check on my order. She proceeded to check on the computer and then grab the young man and talk to him. He got on the computer and started typing. He came to me and told me there had been an error and asked if I would like some queso and chips in the meantime. Never got them either. It was just after that she came to me and said that the order had never been placed and offered me free queso's and chips. I asked her to verify that my order was placed correctly, to which she went direct to the kitchen to check. Not once did he come and check on my order with me or check on my drink or see if I needed anything. Someone else brought my order out to me,(42 minutes from the time I ordered) and it was wrong. I flagged her back down and she took it in and they corrected it. The only consolation to the whole thing is that when he went to check out the order, it was shown that it was cleared. He came and told me that one of the other waitresses had billed somebody else for my order, he thought.No further explanation, he just walked away. I believe the manager comped it because of the mess ups. I have been a faithful follower of the shed since they open. Not sure what happened here? Just hope it never happens again. Overall the restaurant is wonderful and the staff are normally very good. Not sure if it was his first day or a bad day. Thank you to the others who picked up the slack. read more
