Great for a romantic, intimate night out. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Service was reasonable and courteous.

All I can say is with my extensive travels and the sampling of cuisine it's rare that I get excited for a place to eat. Sure most locations have their charm, great service, a signature dish, and an ambience that just puts you in the mood to eat and enjoy. But this place is the trifecta! We've got excellent food excellent service and an ambience that is unrivaled. Are you in the mood for an expertly crafted cocktail by actual mixologist?... This is the place for you! Have you stopped drinking and want an expertly crafted mocktail... They have those too. This is definitely one of the places that I would return to over and over just to be able to sample their vast menu. I wish I could give them six stars.

Yes and yes what an amazing restaurant to have in the area. We were treated so well and the bartender made us a drink that wasn't original on the menu and it was delicious. The scenery was beautiful and it was such a vibe. Our food was well done I can't wait to go back

We have been here before for dinner and akways enjoyed it over the last 5 years. This time we got t a flyer from a friend about Spring Weekend brunch so we reserved a spot on OpenTable. We were seated promptly and Amy was a gracious server. She was patient (as we took our time talking instead of reviewing the menu) and pleasant the whole time. She was very professional and we wouldn't have known this was her 1st brunch had she not mentioned it. The food was great. I didn't get pics of all of everyone's food but everyone enjoyed it and said they are glad they came. All are planning on returning. Upon leaving I had a good conversation with one of the bosses and he told me about the upcoming plans for Alexanders. I'm excited to see his vision as we plan on spending more in our community.

Pear Cucumer Crush. Pear vodka, st Germaine, basil liquor, lemon juice, club soda - yum Filet. Rare + omg. So so tender. Melt in your mouth knife cut thru it like butter. No good wine. Out of Malbec. 2 CA reds. I didn't even finish the one I got. Yuck. They were out of crab cakes and asparagus. Our waitress was really nice about it all. I had called at 6:30 for a 7 o'clock reservation and they say they can't get us in until 730 but so we go early to have a drink and sit on the patio and notice on the way that there are many many empty tables. They said they'll come get us for our dinner appointment. at 7:40. Nobody came to get us so I go downstairs again and the very young hostess looks at me wide eyed like she forgot who I was and I told her I feel like we were forgotten and she apologized over and over.

This was the plate! Very bland and disappointing!

It is always disappointing to me when I go to a nice restaurant for a charcuterie board and what I receive I can purchase from HEB. For $32 I expect more than lunch meat and mediocre cheese. Nice restaurants should give you artisan meats and artisan cheeses. The complete lack of blues, the use of box crackers etc is does not reflect the quality I expect for this price point. I have eaten here before and this feels like a big change. I truly hope this is not what to expect in the future. On the positive side this place is an amazing little environment, the staff is polite. However, if you can't get the basics right I am not sure about the more complicated menu items.

Our party of five went to brunch at noon. The restaurant was pretty quiet and we were seated right away. The cocktail menu was extensive, we had the frosty mojito. Very good! Ordered the baked Brie appetizer. It was plenty for the five of us to share. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. The view of the Creek is nice. We opted to sit inside because it was raining outside. Next time we will try to find on the patio.

Maybe is pathetic to say, but I'm so proud of myself for finding this place! I went on a Sunday afternoon, right after church. They had indoor and outdoor seating, and it was a relatively lively brunch atmosphere. My waiter was helpful and polite, all of the staff was very sweet. I sat down outside and after about 5 minutes worried it might rain. The staff let me switch seats without much ado about it. Drink menu was awesome and my food hit all of the right spots. Loved the whole experience and I will be going back!

I came upon this place because I was looking for a restaurant halfway between San Antonio and Dallas to meet some family. I'd never really stopped in Salado but I'm really glad to have learned about Alexander's. The restaurant location itself is quite picturesque with a view of a creek when sitting on back patio. I had pets with me and they were very accommodating and provided water bowls for them, already ready, when we walked up. The food itself was wonderful. We started with crispy Brussel sprouts with sauce on the side. My mom said they were the best she'd ever had and I found them to have a great balance of being crispy but not overdone or dry. On top of that the portion size is great. My dad got the crab cakes to start and said they were basically stuffed with all crab. For our entrees our table had the ribeye, porkchop, and salmon. The steak was well seasoned and cooked as requested. The baked potato that came with the steak was also very well done. I ate everything, including the skin. I tried the pork chop and thought some pieces were a little dry but the flavoring was good. I also tasted the salmon and I probably would have ordered it medium rare but it wasn't my dish, and considering it was cooked more than I would have liked it, it was quite tasty. We all decided we would come back and I love that it appears to be close to the town square. I would consider making a whole day of exploring the town and ending with a delicious meal at Alexander's.

Amazing food and atmosphere. The employees were awesome. It's such a beautiful place to dine. The food was delicious.

This is my second visit since the restaurant's most recent ownership change. Had Sunday brunch first visit. One of my friends doesn't eat eggs and asked if she could have a menu item that included eggs, a meat and breakfast potatoes. She asked if the eggs could be left off. She was told NO, so she then just ordered a bread and coffee. I don't understand the waitress response because we weren't asking to deduct the cost of the eggs! She just doesn't eat eggs! Turns out they were out of breakfast potatoes and wanted to bring us french fries instead. We declined. Really.....nothing special about this breakfast and very expensive and disappointing service. The only positive was the restaurant looks nice. Decided to give the restaurant another chance and went for lunch. Had soup and salad. I really only wanted a cup of soup, but that was not possible. Had a very good strawberry and watermelon salad and a giant bowl of corn bisque swimming in oil on top. Very unpalatable. Told the waitress and all I was offered was that they would tell the chef. The salad was $16 and the soup was uneaten and cost me $14! They did bring me the standard Stagecoach hush puppies before my meal and they were delicious! When I had heard the restaurant would be managed by the owners of Monument Cafe I was so excited. I love Monument, but this restaurant is too expensive for the poor quality of food. I would love to have the menu at Monument at this restaurant. The only positive is that the remodel of the restaurant is lovely in appearance. I wouldn't mind the prices if the food was delicious and it was not. I won't return nor will I recommend to my friends. Very disappointing.

I said this was my first time here, and that I was excited to try them. She was super polite, very friendly. She sat me at a booth. She walked away for a quick minute and came back with a water glass and a small pitcher of ice cold water. My server came around. And gave me my menu and said you gotta try the whiskey Cake. Cake? Did someone say cake? Yes please. With cake on my mind. I thought I better balance this out. So I played it safe and got the grilled chicken salad. Also she said everything is house made from scratch, such as the cocktails, juice, salad dressing and so on. I did order a juice from the bar. It was the Jessica Wabbit with mint, carrot, lime, ginger, and some other flavors. The drink was handed to me first. Lovely flavors, could taste the fresh mint, fresh ginger. A little sweetness with the pineapple. Brilliant mix of flavors. The salad was very large. Dressing was fresh, rich with basil and garlic. Chunks of bacon and wedges of hard boiled eggs, avocado chunks, blue cheese scattered around, and the grilled chicken, warm juicy and beautifully chard. Love that charred flavor. The salad dressing was really delectable. Wonderful salad. Next came the whiskey cake. This cake should be its own food group. The cake itself has a beautiful flavor, it's a little dense, in a good way. The sauce is outstanding, it's toffee and sweet. Heavenly really. Pecans on top are spiced. I could only eat half of the cake. I'll snack on that later tonight. The food was outstanding. I would love to come back and try other food items. Service was perfection. I had so many wonderful conversations with everyone I came in contact with. I was wished well by everyone I passed by. Even in the bathroom, the host was coming out and she asked how my visit was. I mean, just the most genuine southern hospitality. Top notch service! Parking lot was packed. And they do have a pretty large lot all around the building. The whiskey cake is probably this restaurant's saving grace as the cake is decadent moist, and the combination of the pecans with the caramel and the whipped cream all just make it so delicious. It was definitely worth the wait to have it at the end and in retrospect, it probably would have done well to have first since the food that we ordered was a little more on the lackluster side. I found it hard to be impressed by the prime rib and Gouda stack as they were no defining flavors for this rather expensive sandwich and the mac and cheese was also not very memorable. When it comes to the service provided at the restaurant, there were many times where it felt as though our table had been forgotten to be waited upon, despite there not being many other people at the restaurant. Overall, I think my experience at Whiskey Cake was OK and while I may not return for the food necessarily, I would for the cake.
