I paid in advance for my shoe repair - $48 for new, shoe bottoms, which seemed expensive. The heels on the shoes were fine, which is why I did not ask for them to be repaired. They are ballroom dance shoes, so the front part of the shoe bottom was worn, but the heel was not. When I picked up my shoes, he said I owed him an additional $20 for heel repair, which the shoes did not need. He said his worker told him that the heels were in bad shape, but they were not, or I would've asked for them to be repaired when I dropped them off. I am not dumb. I know what my shoes needed, and they did not need heels. If there was an increase in the charge, he could have asked me before the work was completed, and I would've declined the extra unnecessary work. Total scam. I do remember him being unfriendly the last time I came here for business. I thought I would give his shop one more try. No thank you. I will never go there again. I have bunions and high arches. I went to a podiatrist and an orthopedic doctor but was still confused on what to do. We have an upcoming wedding party and I really needed a solution to be able to wear high heels for it. Mr Karim, the owner was extremely kind, patient, understand and helpful. I was having several issues with leg pain, bad posture, and always locking my knees when standing still. My wife suggested I talk to my doctor about maybe it being something wrong with my feet or shoes. The doctor suggested that I get something more supportive for my shoes like superfeet insoles. I was searching around amazon for super feet but didn't really know what I was looking for. I saw the Shoe Clinic on Yelp and saw they sold superfeet and the reviews from others about the good service here. I walked in on a Saturday and before I could say anything, Karim was already saying that my current shoes are not the right ones and not supporting me. He asked me take off my shoes and socks so he could analyze my situation. He showed me how my ankles and leg were not lining up when I stand and that it would take a long time to correct. I got some new shoes in a size I never knew existed for wide feet. I ordered custom insoles that would last for seven years and I can switch them to new shoes whenever that happens. It has been a few months and I have been feeling great. I had forgotten what is was like to walk without pain. I also ran a 5k without any problems. I've attached photos of the default insoles of my new shoes and the custom ones Karim helped me get. I recommended this store to my elderly mother-in-law and her helper. (88yrs old and in a wheelchair). I myself have purchased shoes here with no problem however that was not the case for my mother-in-law. They purchased shoes last week and when they got home both pairs were the wrong sizes in their boxes!! My mother-in-law is size 10 and the shoe in her box was 11.5. These were not the sizes they tried on. So strange but sometimes this stuff happens. The problem came when my mother-in-laws helper went back this week to either get the right size or return the shoes. The owner (long hair guy forgot name) informed her that there was only store credit available. (I do not recall this when I shopped there couple of months ago and I don't recall seeing any signs on the walls nor was it mentioned at purchase time). He also asked her she had not returned the shoes earlier......ummmmm it's only been a few days and his store website states they are closed on Sunday and Monday. One of the pairs of shoes was exchanged for the correct size but the price had inexplicably gone up over the weekend, an extra $40. The helper paid the extra anyway. Then he sent her home with the other pair which again were the incorrect size for my mother-in-law. Of course now my mother-in-law and her helper are so upset at the owner's attitude that they do not wish to go back even to exchange the shoe the second time. I really can't blame her! The Shoe Clinic in Irvine was exactly the shoe store I had been searching for these past few months. Expert care, quality shoes and a great selection. I decided to check this place out primarily because of some Yelp reviews calling this guy a foot wizard, and I hope that my review can help bring someone else in. Karim is as great as everyone says. I took my shoes and socks off and walked around, and it took him about 2 seconds to tell me what was going on. He knew all the issues I've been dealing with for years without me saying anything about it. The selection on the shelves seems a little sparse at first, but that's just an aesthetic choice. Karim has tons of additional styles and colors in storage in the back, and he patiently went through a bunch of options with me until we found the perfect pair. When you have foot issues, shoe shopping is one of the things I have now realized you absolutely cannot do online. Every brand and style is way too different, and just a couple millimeters one way or another can have a huge effect on how your feet feel, which travels up your ankles, to your knees, hip, and back. I recently traveled to South Korea, where I had to walk a lot during the day. I needed a good pair of walking shoes. I went to the shoe clinic and the owner was simply amazing, very professional, very knowledgeable and super friendly. I have a high arch. I needed a special insert for my shoe. Karim is a miracle worker. My son has always had a hard time walking long distances. At 13, he finally agreed to see if better shoes could help. Karim immediately noticed his flat feet, recommended a new pair of shoes and inserts, and even gave me advice on what to look for when shoe shopping for him. I had never seen my son so happy as when he tried on his new shoes. We were actually able to survive an entire day at Disneyland without him complaining! A week later, I noticed my son was getting blisters on his feet. I took him back to Karim who told us that he wasn't tying his shoes tight enough. Sure enough, that was it! I went to urgent care with a foot injury. X-ray showed it was not a fracture and I was instructed to ice and elevate. It wasn't helping much and I had a lot of pain! I went to the shoe clinic to try to find shoes to minimize my pain. Karim looked at my foot and guided me toward an insert and a pair of shoes with a stiff sole. He was so patient and showed me about a dozen pair of shoes before I found the right one (thank you so much for your time and understanding). I also got slippers to wear around the house so my foot would always be supported. I began to feel relief within days. I later went to the podiatrist and discovered I had torn tendons and ligaments. The doctor said that my shoes and inserts are exactly what he would have prescribed! My only regret is not going to The Shoe Clinic sooner. I was in need of a special shoe for plantar fasciitis and found Comfort Shoe Loft in Lake Forest when searching for places to buy shoes for my condition. There wasn't a website for them but found the business info for them online with address and hours, opened at 12, hours updated by owner. I remembered I had bought shoes there years before. I was there at 12 only to find a note taped to door saying they opened at 1 and only serve customers by appointment. No problem, I called at 1, no answer. I was at the shopping center where the store is and went to see if I could make an appointment while I was there. I found the lights off and door locked with no answer again to my call. I don't know how this place stays in business. I guess this may have been a good thing because my niece did a search and found The Shoe Clinic in Irvine. They too were found online and when my niece called, someone answered. Boy was I lucky no one was at Comfort Shoe loft. The gentleman was extremely knowledgeable and helpful at The Shoe Clinic. He knew just what I needed. I've worn the special sandals I got there all morning and no pain in my foot. Yesterday I used the shoes with the inserts I got in my shoes and wow, what a difference! The owner of this establishment, Karim, is very helpful and he knows his business. I bought a new pair of orthotics there and discovered I had a problem with one of them once I wore it a few times. I called him and he said no problem come on in and he sent it right out to be taken care of. It was only one of the orthotics; the other one was just fine and now both of them are good, because he was dedicated to making sure I was happy with the product. Good customer service. I was pleased --- and surprised --- to find that I saved decent money by going directly to his store rather than going through a podiatrist, as I had done last time. So I do recommend The Shoe Clinic because Karim is dedicated to service and he stands behind his products. I also ended up buying a pair of shoes at his store (there is a huge variety, from dressy to sporty) and am quite pleased with them. It took me a little while to get used to the new shoes, but ultimately they turned out to be very good.
