Atmosphere and staff were great, food was awful. *Steaks were mechanically tenderize, not good quality * steaks over cooked and dry, not given steak knives, we could cut them with butter knives due to the mechanical tenderizeing * peppercorn sauce made with course ground pepper and broken to the point of being gritty * onions in salad were 1/2 in thick, precooked bacon bits, dry chicken * girlfriend was served the bottom of the bag of fries, like 4 normal sized, the rest burnt nubs * muscles tasted way too fishy, broth was not cooked down I really wish I had pictures but chose to leave my phone in the car in order to have a nice dinner. Knowing quite a bit about food service and sysco products/ ordering I blame management and not the staff. I'm sure they make plenty of money on subpar food but they really could be doing so much more with such an amazing space. read more

I have been a local customer at this location for about 10 years, and I believe three different owners. It is a beautiful location and facility, but a disaster in every other way. it's not just that they are short staffed, the staff is rude, dismissive, poorly trained and obviously not held accountable for their actions. The food often comes out incorrect after an hour wait, and often times over cooked. I have been there several times this year (in hope's it would improve) and this time we didn't even get past the hostess. I have finally had enough, I will not return again until they are under new management. PS: I couldn't understand why the high reviews, then I realized that most of the good reviews came when it was under different ownership and name. It was called "Pete's lake view bar". Closed for 2 days (totally okay and understandable) HOWEVER, who's closed for 2 days in a row and then doesn't have inventory / pulled pork, or enough dough to make a large pizza, but has enough dough for a medium. Worst part is they don't tell us until we picked up our order AFTER waiting over an hour for the to go. I'm okay with waiting, but they didn't even tell us they couldn't make our large pizzas until we went back and questioned them about it because when we picked up our food they were mediums BUT still charged us for large pizzas. They said they gave us $20 discount because the 3 large pizzas we ordered and PAID FOR were now mediums, BUT the receipt shows only a $5 discount. We had to go back inside and question the host to find all this out because the pizzas looked wrong, the sizes were wrong, AND the receipt was wrong. It's a joke that you were out of all sandwiches (minus chicken sandwiches) and large pizzas, after being closed for 2 days, but still charging people for what they didn't get. Foods good, but they have A LOT to figure out. Didn't even find out they were out of the pulled pork and all other types of sandwiches until we came to pick up our food. (Mind you we're feeding 12 adults) And they didn't even tell us about the issue.. we got in the car and had to walk back in because nothing added up. They tried to scam us by charging us for their larges, giving us mediums, then after going back inside to question them they gave us a "discount" on the larges.. I'm pretty sure it would make more sense to give a discount on the mediums since that's what we were given WITHOUT notice. Why give a discount on something we weren't given? What a joke. I guess this is why the locals told us not to bother with this place. read more

This is by far the best spot in town. Hands down. No question. It's not perfect, and there are some inconsistencies coming out of the kitchen that the management needs to work on. But, when executed correctly, the food is good. But the real stars here are the friendly staff and the overall ambiance. The owners did a great job on the build-out/improvements, and the view is absolute perfection. On a summer day, sitting on the balcony, when the server is happy and the kitchen is on point, and the drinks are flowing; it really can't be beat. If you're passing through or just visiting and looking for the best option in town; this is really your ONLY option. read more

This is just a sad case of a cool restaurant gone bad - from their woos with staffing earlier this year to absolutely terrible food. Their menus is small so you'd think they'd figure the cooking but now it's gotten worse. Maybe time to look into some capable kitchen staff. We were there for dinner on Sunday night - place was empty, maybe another two tables. The food took forever - the bison stakes were dry, the mash potatoes dry, the salmon, which used to be deliciously grilled is now fried and super overcook. The server didn't seem stressed but yet never checked on us Is to see how things are until she was waved over to have a stake sent back as it was inedible. Never apologized just took it and ran. The second star is for Steve, their current manager, who actually came to apologize for the steak. I love supporting local businesses but at this point this place is only good for drinks. Come here for a great food, atmosphere and the view especially! We selected this restaurant upon reading other Yelp reviews, they were happily confirmed. The view is amazing! The atmosphere and decor is full of Montana fun! We ended up ordering and enjoying the bison burger and fish tacos both were excellent. Service was very friendly, prompt and attentive! We had lunch on a Saturday. It was a beautiful day and we were lucky to be seated on the deck. After placing our order we waited AN HOUR for our food. Our server never updated us as to what was going on or even refilled our water glasses. She showed her indifference to her job with her every move. There was no welcoming smile and no service. All of the rest of the servers who might have helped us, had "blinders" on.....meaning they never looked at the tables and the people seated there.... who were desiring SERVICE. I literally have never seen anything like this. There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE at this restaurant. None. After finally getting up in search of someone who could tell us as to why we still had no food, (the table next to us who came in AFTER us was already served), I had to walk inside the restaurant. No help....inside help had blinders on too. The food was very mediocre and like I said, no pleasant service. Horrible experience. We stopped in at the Shoe while visiting Polson. It was very clean and everyone was friendly. The food was really good. I had the cheeseburger and my husband had the fish n chips. Alright guys. Let's just start by saying this place is hands down, American freedom. I came to the restaurant without a mask per Covid days (8/11/2020). After struggling to take my Shirt off and tie it around my mouth and nose I was told it was a choice. This is American freedom. I don't know the bartender, I don't know the hostess, I don't know the owner but god damnit this place screams what America was built on and that's freedom. I'll bring the crew back here anytime for beers and a great meal. I have never been treated with so much respect at a restaurant in my life. These people are what this country was built on. Western cuisine with stakes galore. They also serve buffalo and elk. I should have had the elk but I failed to see it on the menu. I ordered the sirloin and wasn't disappointed. It came with a baked potato asparagus and a side salad. Delicious. My wife had the fish and chips. Four large pieces of fish with fries. So much fish she couldn't finish it. We had a piece of cheese cake with strawberry drizzle to top off the evening. The entire bill was less than $50 with the tip. Looking for a place with great views and good steaks. Food was good but switched to seafood. Steaks looked thin and not our type of what we were looking for. Wife had the Salmon over pasta. Very decent for Montana. I had the scampi over pasta which was okay. Had a bottle of wine which was priced reasonable. Asked waitress if there was a corkage fee as we had a special bottle of wine for our 50th wedding anniversary but she had a deer in the headlight look and blew us off. Whatever but the tip goes down. The outside seating was great and for that 5 stars. Service 3 stars young and dumb. Food about 4 stars maybe 3 but Covid times. Overall a good time. read more

This place is absolutely awesome. We're visiting polson. We dropped our bags at the Airbnb and went directly to the shoe. Our first real look at Flathead Lake was when we walked into the restaurant. The view is just amazing. Then we got great service and excellent food and made friends with other people dining on the deck. A memorable night for sure. We visited the Shoe on a Saturday night at about 7 PM. They had live music which was excellent! We had potato skins and the chicken fried chicken. Both were delicious! The portions are large and prepared perfectly. It is a bit plain inside as far as the decor but the service and food definitely made up for it. Our server was friendly and efficient. The place is currently operating like a well oiled machine with plenty of staff. It was packed in there and we were still served wonderfully prepared food way faster than anywhere else can seem to manage. And the food is not your boring, run of the mill food. It was truly delicious! They have outdoor seating by the lake as well. And everything was clean and in order. This is a must visit if you are ever in Polson. After several decent experiences dining here, we chose the Shoe for our wedding anniversary dinner. TOTAL DISASTER! After drinks and appetizer, we ordered main course, there was an hour wait before our food came out. Salads were incorrect as well as the sides on one of our orders. My steak looked like a burnt piece of shoe leather and was cold. My husband's spaghetti dinner looked like it was as poured out of a can and was also cold. Sent it all back, paid for the drinks and appetizer, then we left. The waitress didn't seem too upset by the situation and wished us a happy anniversary as we were leaving. So disappointed. OK this restaurant is open now! We just had an amazing dinner with great views great food and great service. The burger was absolutely in the top five I have ever had in my life. It was a special that included avocado bacon cheddar jalapeños fresh Romain lettuce thick slice of tomato and red onion and a pickle. Cooked perfectly with homemade fries. The martini was large and delicious and the crabcakes actually had a lot of crab in them . This is definitely a place you don't want to miss. I took our friends out for dinner on Thursday, July 22, 2021. The staff seemed a bit overworked or confused. Once seated they eventually took out order. Appetizers were calamari & artichoke dip. Each of us ordered a separate entree, two of the four arrived not quite correct, but we decided to accept it without complaint since the staff seemed a bit harried. The salmon was dry and overcooked, the chicken and buffalo were the same. All in all, $120 for mediocre food AND, later that night/next day, we all experienced what would best be delicately described as gastric distress. Denny's or 4B's have hands down better food. Never again! UPDATE: 4 phone calls made over the past 10 days - two calls which promised remedy / response from Steve the main manager to no avail. No follow through or follow-up as promise. Seems to be rotating managers, of which two actually blamed us for being sick... smh! in a word, unprofessional. read more

First of all the restaurant is gorgeous and views are incredible! You can dock your boat as well. The Caesar drink I had was one of the best ever! The entire staff was extremely friendly and attentive. My father ordered the burger special and said it was really good. His burger was brought out about 10 minutes before our pizza and the cup of soup I ordered sat in the window that entire time. The soup was potato leak and had good flavor but the cup was half full and barely warm. The pizza was the chicken farm and was decent but crust was thin and instead of having cilantro had parsley. I probably won't get pizza again but will definitely be back. read more

The place continues to be a disappointment year after year. While the remodel was great, if you can't keep the place clean and offer good (just good, I'm not asking for great) service and food you will fail. Not sure why they continue to be busy. Have tried it twice in the last month and will not visit again this summer. Poor and extremely slow service, cold food, dirty silverware and hair found in dessert. Second trip we arrived at 4:45 for early dinner and ordered an appetizer. We could see it sitting on kitchen service wall but weren't sure it was ours. After 40 minutes of time we were pretty sure it was our order but took another 10 minutes to get waitress' attention and question her. She said it was not ours. However after sitting another 10 minutes she carried it over to us along with our entrees. It was definitely cold (had been sitting 15 minutes in service window) and entrees were lukewarm at best. Didn't attempt dessert as it took almost hour to get entrees. We did dessert on first trip and found long, dark hair in it. Also, 3 of 4 entrees tasted like the meat was old and questionable to serve. Don't bother to complain as they don't care. Where is the management? Where is the owner? Where is the food inspector? I love this restaurant, but they have poor organization from the moment you arrive, 2 waitresses 1 hostess, I love going to this place for its atmosphere and primarily for its view, every time I visit Polson, but today it took me A terrible experience, because I asked for a table on the patio, and they told me that there were none because they were dirty, I understand if the restaurant was full, but I only counted no more than 10 tables occupied, which is three people working, I told them that I had no problem waiting, but with all that they did not want to give me a table outside, they sat me inside the restaurant, when the girl serves me I said again that if there was any possibility of sitting outside that I could wait, the waitress very kindly told me She thought there would be no problem, but she asked the hostess and it was definitely not possible, and she accepted, but it didn't take more than 5 minutes for some clients to arrive and they were seated outside. It seems like very bad attention to me, to be honest. It seemed like discrimination, I am the owner of a restaurant and for me the main thing is my clients, they rule because they are the ones who keep the restaurant going, but here in my opinion they don't care what the client wants, I come on vacation to just enjoy this view, because on several occasions the food is not the best, the drinks are excellent, but the service is terrible in terms of attention, the waitresses are very good, they only limit themselves in many things, and finally the last time I came, 15 days ago I ordered more than $100 worth of takeout and the cold food did not include sauce and dips. With this I continue to accept and give them another chance, since as a visitor what you want is to relax and enjoy the beauty of the landscape, after this what makes me laugh the most is that after I complained about the issue, employees came from where I didn't They had to support and clean the tables but they did nothing to keep the customer happy, they didn't care. so I will not give you more opportunities, take into account the service read more

Wonderful restaurant we sat upstairs on the pet balcony and it was just breathtaking. The view is so wonderful and you can just relax and get a spot in the shade if you want to. The burger was unbelievable with beef and bison mixed and great with fries. The onion rings are really good too and the drinks are fabulous. This place is FANTASTIC! The food was incredible, service was even better, and to top it off they did not pester us to wear a mask, which was such a breath of fresh air. As a doctor/scientist who knows better then to allow stupidity take over my mind, it felt incredible walking into a restaurant that doesn't hassle us to wear masks that do not even protect the community. In fact, it does the complete opposite and houses more pathogens in the mask. Overall, I recommend EVERYONE to try this place. The views give it an even better experience. read more
