For Polson, MT this is a rarity to have a Thai place and have it stay open. They stay busy and the service is outstanding! Thai iced tea is good but don't take away the experience of seeing it separated and allowing the customer to mix it.... The drunken noodle is not the right noodle nor is the flavor profile correct, so steer clear im not saying it was bad but it's not what you want if you know what drunken noodles really are. The spring rolls are awesome! The shrimp wonton is pretty good too! Panaeng Curry was decent and comes the way curry should be served a large inviting bowl with a huge plate of sticky rice! The star rating for heat is a good system just the do not use spice the way it should be. The utilized red pepper flakes as a heat enhancers and to me that's unacceptable if I wanted that Id go to Pizza Hut.... Overall I like the food it was not outrageous but I'm in the middle of nowhere and I love Thai cuisine so I will be back! read more

Ate here while passing through town on our way back home from Glacier. Most folks in our group love Thai food. We ordered food to go including fried rice, wontons, tempura shrimp, crispy pork rolls, broccoli beef, and a couple curry dishes. Not sure who would call this Thai food. It's flavorful soup, I'll give you that. But every curry is the same; just a liquidy mess with very little (tablespoon full) of meat (questionable in quality) and more closely resembling soup than any discernible curry. The noodle dishes (pad thai especially) are overcooked and mushy and the overwhelming flavor profile is vinegar. Not what you're aiming for with the complex flavors that one expects from Thai food. Super bummed that there's not a decent Thai place in town since my newest customer here will require me to be here several times a year. read more

Love this place. I don't know how the reviews can be so different. It's always been consistently good. We are in Montana, and there isn't a whole lot of culture. This is one of the exceptions, IMHO. We had the green curry and pad see ew. Giant portions, first of all. The curry was so good. Creamy and sweet, liquid magma hot which is impressive when you're getting takeout and it's been ten minutes already before you start eating. Lots of fresh veg, chicken and rice. My mouth is watering already. The pad see ew was also delicious. Lots of chicken and noodles. The sauce is light and savory and lots of it. I love the wide noodles. The wontons were super crispy and delicious. The sauce for dipping packs a nice bright pop of flavor. Not your frozen ones. You can tell everything is handmade. And don't forget the Thai tea! Not a mix, the cream was so good and we loved it to the last drop. We literally timed our trip so that we could eat here. Just sayin. read more

On our way back from GNP we we all feeling like having some curry and spices .. since an Indian restaurant was a tough ask we settled for a Thai one. The best bet looked as Hot Spot Thai in Polson. And a thai lunch happened :) The place was alright and the server was extremely nice which was a good start .. We ordered quite a good amount of food .. which had a few wok tossed stuff .. a soup .. curries + + Here is an account - Tofu with veggies in garlic sauce Thai basil chicken Somehow, both the things tasted similar .. apart from a few fresh basil leaves in the chicken. The sauce should have been mildly sweet instead it was rather sweet. And then the veggies could have used some fine dicing or slicing .. they were way too whole for my liking. Then the soup was the tom kha and a red curry .. tom kha was alright .. the red curry yet again was a bit too sweet .. and a lot less spicy .. the veggies, however, followed the same trend :D .. So, all I would say is that the mains were kinda just alright, nothing in there which could have been termed - "great" .. that amalgamation of the basil and ginger and galangal and garlic and lemongrass and all those sauces was missing. Though, there were those Vietnamese rice rolls with a sweet sauce .. they were quite nice .. light and fresh and crispy .. we all did surely enjoy them. Overall, yeah!! considering my experience with Thai food .. both in and outside Thailand this was an okay'ish experience .. and I am not saying to replicate things, no .. the food was basically missing that very essence of Thai food. read more

Ok well called this place to order first off no Chicken Satay. I order Pineapple fried rice and Pad Thai with chicken. We arrive door closed and you have to pull to a drive through. Ask the kid for some chili and some peanut sauce. He says we charge for peanut sauce I am ok no problem. We begin to eat the food not at all good. The peanut sauce is not peanut sauce it's some sort of concoction with coconut milk nothing like the taste and or texture of peanut sauce. Anyway I would not recommend this place at all read more

This is the best Thai food you will ever have the privilege of eating. My favorite is the veggie pad Thai 3 stars and extra sprouts! After I moved to Seattle I made my sister drive me hotspot from Polson at least once a month. After I moved even further away that no longer was an option so I could only eat Hot Spot when visiting Polson. Needless to say, I moved back and now I get to enjoy this food whenever I want! This place was recommended by the water rafter guide. With our ravenous stomachs looking forward to some T-bone grass fed steak that our friends had at the ranch, we decided to take a detour to try out this place. We ordered out and the service was very friendly and fast. It took about 20 minutes for all the dishes to come out. The food, on the other handed, I've had better Thai food. We had ordered yellow curry, pad thai, veggie spring rolls, beef dish, and a chicken dish for the 7 of us. The flavors were present but it wasn't an "oh-my-gawd" experience. Maybe it would have been better eating at the restaurant then taking it home. This place is great for your cravings as it may be the only Thai food on the block. I also have to give it some credit because of this reason and because the staff were friendly and nice. I ordered a thai ice tea which was overly sweet and needed some watering down. I know I had high expectations, which for the area was my first mistake. But I wanted sooo bad to believe! I had the curry soup with chicken (I hope it was chicken, more on that later) 1st off it smelled great, and came with separate rice which seemed like a solid start. Then I started to eat and realized none of the veggies had met a knife. Strange and hard to eat. The chicken was also sparse. Then I bit into a good chunk of chicken and found a substantial bone. I have eaten here several times, and the quality has gone down over the years. I would rather eat here than other places in Polson, but there's no competition! The taste has become very Americanized--and overloaded with sugar. (On my last trip, everybody at our table of 5 adults and 2 kids thought it was way too sweet!) On another occasion, we went for lunch. My dad ordered the cheaper lunch special, and I ordered a main entree from the menu. When they arrived, the ONLY difference was that mine had broccoli on top. His was over $5 different in price. That was really sad. It tasted kind of okay, but we were served the same dish essentially, but at different prices. My wife and I travel extensively to Thailand multiple times a year (she attended university there, we met and got engaged there). We also cook Thai food ourselves. We are sad to say that we wouldn't recommend the restaurant as a place to go for Thai food. It's just not authentic. And if you like it spicy, forget it. On a trip to glacier national park, the last thing I expected was a Thai restaurant, let alone a good one. However Hot Spot Thai Cafe not only met my expectations but exceeded them. Both my wife and son love a yellow curry and when it cake out a light brown we didn't plan on much, how we were wrong. It had light spicy flavor with tofu, carrots, potatoes, sugar snap peas and even a chunk or three of pineapple. It was very good. My Ginger Thai beef was wonderful. It had large chunks of all the requisite vegetables and large chunks of sliced ginger, very tasty. Service was polite and incredibly fast, order to plates on table was less than 10 minutes. What impressed me the most was the size of my lunch. I ordered the Panaeng Curry, and I got a huge mound of rice on one plate and a serving bowl of curry. I ordered the three-star level of heat, and would go to four or even five stars next visit, as the three-star rating was pretty mild for my taste buds. We stayed at Polson a day ago and had a dinner at Hot Spot Thai and really enjoyed the food. The Pad Thai was some of the best we have had and we go out for Thai a lot.
