If you love lying on a cold, hard massage table with a thin sheet covering the table and an equally thin sheet covering you on a cold and stormy night--while listening to your masseuse spout his political views, then this is the place for you. I've never felt so awful after a massage. I walked out of there feeling tense, dizzy, freezing, and emotionally drained. Gary isn't a bad guy, just blissfully unaware of how to nurture clients. His work is okay. Not great and not horrible. Just middle of the road. Suggestion: When a client asked for a blanket. Have one available. read more

Sonja is a master at finding the problem areas and getting them out! As a runner and owner of a tricky pelvis (not to mention a 40-something body), I have had my share of really painful episodes, and since I've seen Sonja they have been almost eliminated. And if I do get a flare-up, she's available to stop it in its tracks! For instance, I'd had a low-grade headache due to neck strain for the past few days and after a session with her, it's gone. I got a groupon for a 90 min massage that I redeemed in Feb. Before going I came to yelp to see if there were reviews so I knew to ask for Emily. Wow...Incredible. You know when your mind goes somewhere else during a massage coz you are so relaxed? Thats what I got. She used a hot stone massage that was great. It was so great that I booked a few more appointments which I am glad to pay full price. I had a Groupon for a 90 minute massage with Gary, and it was awesome. I love getting massages, but I have a low pain tolerance to pressure on my muscles. I generally expect pain from the person massaging me too hard, but that did not happen at all with Gary. He exerted firm motions through different part of my back - it felt good. I also liked the feel of whatever product he was massaging me with - it didn't feel like lotion or oil, but something a little less greasy like a balm. When the massage starts, he gives you a good 10-15 minutes to get comfortable. At first I wasn't a fan, but my body eased into the massage so much better after getting acclimated to the massage bed. The location is within Gary's and his wife's home. Once you see units 401 and 402, the entry is between the garages on the next side of the building. There's a cute little sign that says something like "Yes, you're in the right spot" on the door. There was a good amount of parking for visitors when I went in the afternoon. The business accepts credit/debit cards too. I can't wait to come here again. read more

Just had a 90-minute hot stone massage with Susan. I've never had a hot stone massage before this and from what I just had, I don't think Susan has ever given one either. I think my skin had about 5 minutes worth of contact with the stones. If this is what hot stone massages are supposed to be like, then no thanks. Also, I think Susan is mainly a physical therapist, not a massage therapist because I was not impressed with her pressure at all. She seems like a super nice lady and probably know a lot about massage therapy, but my appt was to get a hot stone massage. I'm definitely out on her and since she represents The Shop, I'm out on this 'spa' as well. Thanks, but see ya never. read more

I am so glad I found The Shop and found Gary! He is extremely thorough, professional and affordable. This is now going to be a monthly treat for me. The massage itself was so great. This is a long overdue review. I took a chance a year or so ago with trying a new massage place, and I'm so happy I did! I've been treating myself to massages for over 17yrs. About 2yrs ago, my migraines became chronic. I had bad ones 6-7 days a week, with no relief. I was having trouble finding a masseuse who could relieve the pain in my neck and back from the migraines. Along came The Shop Massage and Gary! He is wonderful! At first I was a little hesitant because I always have been more comfortable with a female masseuse, but i was desperate and willing to try anything. It is based out of his home, where he and his wife are both massage therapists. The massage room is beautiful and peaceful. Just what you would expect and want! Gary far exceeded my expectations! I left feeling amazing and knew I had found my new therapist! Eventually I was able to start seeing him on a regular basis, and he has been heaven sent in helping me manage the pain from my migraines. Slowly but surely they are improving thanks to Gary! Where no medication, acupuncture, biofeedback would relieve the pain, his massages and techniques have been the only thing to help keep me sane. His prices are also very reasonable, and he offers packages to give you an even bigger discount. I would highly recommend Gary for not only a great, relaxing massage, but also for helping you with any chronic pain you might be experiencing. I just recently gotten back from a 6 month military deployment and booked on Groupon with the shop massage. I really needed my muscle knots removed and sometimes that requires firm to hard pressure especially for someone with my body build. So I get there and Gary is my MT and he ask what am I trying to accomplish this MTx and I said just my knots removed and then he asked what kind pressure that I like I said "firm to hard." Gary said to me " well my pressure is soft to medium." I'm like ok then well I'll just see how the massage goes...it was ok didn't get any knots out and more of aroma therapy light Swedish is what I received despite what I told him I wanted accomplished. Maybe I should've just went to massage envy but I wanted to give independent business owners a chance. So wasn't very satisfied. read more

I've had two massages here - one Swedish massage with a gentleman who took care and consideration to the areas that affect me due to my work. He also put a tissue with something like Vik's Vapor Rub on it to clear my sinuses while I laid face down. It was great! The massage was relaxing and I had a great experience. The other massage was a deep tissue with Emily and the pressure was fantastic and the heating pad made my tootsies toasty :-) I also really liked that their massage tables were nice and sturdy. I have been to other locations with not-so-sturdy tables that creek and crack while you move. It can be a bit distracting. Excellent location! read more

04/03/19. Update - Gary called me a few days after my first review and felt bad about the miscommunication. He accommodated me and fit me in to an appointment within a week. Let me just say, one of the best acupressure massage I ever had. He worked on my work related injuries of my upper back and shoulder area, being careful to not disturb my neck injury. He worked on my shoulder blades which have experienced ongoing knots and sharp pains for 3 years. The tingling and numbness from my neck ands shoulder injuries are also lessened with consistent therapy which comes out of pocket, not by WC Ins. While I have mixed feelings about that, I did not hesitate to purchase a (5) therapy 90 min each, package and am doing it again. I have been going regularly 1-3 times a month to help reduce my migraines from injury, as well as other symptoms that are consistent from the injuries I sustained 3 years ago. I haven't actually had a massage here yet. I have a Groupon for two 90 minute massages and have had a heck of a time scheduling an appointment. I have called several times and no one answers the phone. The one time I did get through I was told there were no openings until April! The good news is that I was told they'd honor the groupon as long as I booked my appointments before the expiration date. So, I went through the online reservation process, which is convenient. However, the soonest I could get an appointment was 2 months out!! Sheez!! They're either REALLY good and/or very understaffed. I'll follow-up in 2 months after I've had my first massage. read more

Sonja has been my monthly go-to for years now. Having tried multiple massage therapists in the past, she was finally the magic touch I had been searching for all along. My line of work leaves me with knotted shoulders and an extremely unhappy back, but an hour spent with Sonja is like hitting the reset button and I always leave feeling loosened, relaxed and much needed relief. I had a groupon for 90 minutes and was a little put off that I had to wait as they were so booked. As another review said either they are very good or understaffed. Well I can attest they are very, very good and would be worth the wait. I fell and had a head injury and called Gary and he was able to get me in within two days. I like that they keep so spots or regulars who might need to get in at the last minute for an injury. I have never had the technique Gary uses done on me but I am a fan. I have friends who say if the massage doesn't hurt you aren't getting your money's worth. The massage didn't hurt and I felt the knots from my fall melt away. I actually was looking for their site again to book another massage but ended up here instead. So I had to sing their praises.
