I had a horrible experience. The masseuse, Yoyo pulled my thumb so hard that I heard a pop. I was in a lot of pain. I screamed so loud that it woke up the customer next to me. I need to wear a brace and my thumb was unmobilized for almost two months. It still hurts when I moved or bent my thumb. The orthopedic doctor said the masseuse may have injured or ripped the ligaments on my thumb capsule. It will take a long long time to heal and may required a surgery. Nice job Happy Day Spa! We love Happy Day Spa! I used to frequent the South Sacramento Happy Day Spa but after moving, this Folsom location is slightly closer. It's not as big as the South Sac location and they don't have as many masseuses, but it's not bad. It's located a few doors down from the 24 Hour Fitness in Folsom and in a nice strip mall with plenty of parking. The current receptionist, Amy, is awesome--very sweet and friendly. They currently have 3 male "therapists" and at least 5 female therapists. There's a choose between foot massages and body massages. With foot massages, you're fully clothed in a room with about 10-12 other recliners/customers while a full body massage is in a private room where you disrobe. We like the foot massages because they actually do your head, arms, feet, back, legs and shoulders. But we plan to check out their full body massages sometime soon. (I used to get them all the time at the South Sac location, but haven't tried here yet). Prices have gone up significantly in the last few years. I remember paying around $18-20 for a one-hour foot massage and then all of a sudden we're paying $32 now. But I guess that's everywhere now. Had a couple instances where we requested 2 male masseuses but when the time came for our appointment, we were told they only had one available. And another instance where they changed our appointment from 11am to 10:30am (to squeeze in another appointment at 11:30am). BUT they forgot to call us and get the okay. Since then, they've hired Amy and we haven't run into as many problems since she's been on board. My friend and I love our massage outings and this is our favorite spot closest to us. We like to follow up our massage with some bento boxes at the Tokyo Sushi across the way too. Definitely give this place a try if you haven't already. The prepaid tickets will save you some money also. These masseuses work so hard so we always make sure to leave them a nice cash tip. read more

Came here with my husband for a couples massage and I do have to say it was one of the better massages I've gotten. They are $55 per hour in a private room and you can also get hot stone massage for that price to, i did a deep tissue and he did the Swedish oil. David gave me the massage and he was great, the pressure was perfect as well. I knocked a star off because when we were guided to the room there was no communication they just pointed to the room. There wasn't any instruction or introductions or anything so we were a bit confused at first. Other than that you get a great massage without the frills of a spa. We are aging and the foot and body massages really help keep us going and for the past fifteen years I've been getting these massages, first in Elk Grove, then in Sacramento and now in Folsom, although we do have a place or two here in Amador County. They just aren't as good, and cost more too. Having been to over a dozen such places over the years I can tell you that some are more elaborate, with big TV screens of scenery or ocean life but this one has the best massages, very reasonable at a little over $30. each when you buy the ten ticket booklet. David was amazing! I came in today for a full body massage and that's exactly what I received. The massage started with no oil, and a sheet on top of me. Then it became a massage hand to body, and then finally I received a massage with oil. David was very thorough, and I cannot believe how great of more of a massage that was! My boyfriend had two massages from her in the past and they were also terrible so he warned me not to book with her. When I made the appointment I asked for any therapist except Helen. Then I proceeded to the foot massage room where my "therapist" tried to have me place my feet into a bucket of scalding hot water. I had to ask her to cool it down. Then she was talking constantly with the therapist next to her. She also left several times for several minutes leaving me to wonder if the session was over yet? After that she took me to the full body massage room and only then did I realize it was Helen when I saw her put the tip folder down which had her name on it. So they assigned me to Helen even though I asked them not to! The full body massage was absolutely terrible! She was very rough and put her elbows into my bones rather than muscles. She was breathing heavy, seemed rushed and bothered to be there. The massage had no flow- it was chaotic. She shoved me several times on the shoulder and yelled at me "to relax." This is exactly what she did to my boyfriend! I said "I am relaxed, I just have tight muscles." The massage was so terrible that I stopped it about 15 minutes in and left. I didn't like this place. I only came in because I drove all the way out to Folsom for a massage from my favorite massage place, a few blocks down. They were full, causing me great disappointment. I didn't want to waste my 20+ min drive, so I started Yelping nearby spas. One had an opening but charged more than I was used to. Another wasn't available for another 30 min. So, I settled for Happy Day Spa. I knew when I pulled up that I wouldn't like it. But, again, I didn't want to waste the trip. When I walked in, the young lady at the counter had a strong sense of urgency when greeting me. She seemed really overwhelmed, if that's the word I'm looking for. I was a little disappointed in the price for a 1-hr swedish ($45) because I knew it wasn't going to be worth it. Anyway, I walk back to a private room, which at first I thought was kind of cool since most people were in a public room. But this room was odd. Bare walls, no color, just white everywhere, and very enclosed. The only thing it had going for it was the music playing. My masseuse spent WAY too much time loosing up my muscles with extreme pressure than doing any real massaging. Unnecessary time spent on my butt and lower back, my thighs. She just kept going over the same spots, pushing too deeply, for what felt like a lifetime! I was within seconds of asking, "Um, what kind of massage is this one?" when she finally pulled back the sheets to really start rubbing. The oil used was cold, but I dismissed it because I seriously just wanted a real massage at that point. When she would ask me about the pressure, I'd tell her to go lighter but it pretty much stayed the same. I've never had a massage like this before. My right deltoid feels bruised. I couldn't relax at all, which is the whole point. My body stayed tensed up most of the time in defense against the pressure. The tip wallet I was sent up to the desk with was ridiculous. You're not going to force or trick me into tipping you, sorry. I paid $45 even, and let the front desk know I was dissatisfied. She said something like, I could have called her in there to translate? What? Once I approached the door to exit, the lady asked, "Do you not want to leave a tip for Tina?" I turned to her with a look of disbelief. "No. I told you the massage hurt too much".
