The main objective with this practice is to get as much money as they can with very substandard work. I was highly recommended by a friend when I moved into the area and was looking for a dentist. I started with a cleaning where I found the amount was high but I agreed to the work. After going home, one of my teeth was loose. I made a new appointment shortly after and was told that the looseness of the tooth had nothing to do with their prodding. I was then told that they would try to save the tooth but it might need an implant. I agreed to the crown. The cost was $2500. Within a few days after the crown was inserted, it was loose again. I was now told that I would need an implant and they would apply the $2500 to the implant. I thought that was fair but I needed to see their "concierge" independent implant specialist. He came up with an outrageous price of $9300 for one implant. Now they were telling me that the $2500 would not be used for his work, only future work. So obviously, I was not going to continue with this practice. I feel like I through over $3100 in the garbage. It feels like I went to a used car salesman not a dentist. They do an outstanding job treating my family. I recently switched to their practice and they did a thorough initial exam and cleaning. Recently, one of my kids who does not fair well with dental X-rays was able to complete them when the hygienist went above and beyond to make it as quick and comfortable as possible. My daughters have been going there last for almost decade and in general until recently I would give them high marks. My daughters wisdom teeth extractions were postponed until Memorial Day Weekend due to the pandemic and all expenses need to be paid up front and reimbursed later. To date, almost six months later I have still mot been reimbursed one penny for the procedures. Emailed, called and visited billing in person. After rejection from my medical insurance, I provided proof so that it could be submitted to dental insurance and it has again gone into a black hole. We have had teeth cleaning since then which have been submitted. I have called sometimes to inquire and stayed on hold for an hour before giving up. The do a good job of making you feel comfortable but quickly start to bring on the upsell, cross sell and all while forcing you to pay up front. Both my wife and I have now have had to spend months chasing their "insurance specialist" to properly submit forms to our insurance company after multiple denied claims. This place cares about you until you call and try to actually get help. Be careful of 'cavities' they find and you may want to get a second opinion. If you value your money stay far away from this practice because they will continuously do poor work and expect you to pay and pay and pay for bonding's that cant even last 2+ years. It's unheard of. Instead of being slightly understanding of thousands of dollars WASTED and none of the dental work holding, Leslie continues to go on about how insurance doesn't cover multiple requests on one tooth. If my dental work was being done properly in the first place, there wouldn't be a need for one to be done twice in two years. Dr Silverstrom installed a crown for me 7 years ago on the back molar. I should have realized and "ran away" as fast as possible as the Dentist had trouble installing the crown to the point of me having 5 or 6 appointments to fit the crown. The crown just did not fit, was half of my other molar size and Dentist sent me on my way as was running out of patience (ie. too much time spent on one patient just for one crown?!). Next 7 years - I spent visiting multiple neck Drs and physical therapists, as well as taking pain medications for years - as incorrect crown installation was severely contributing to the development of occlusal disease and TMD, facial pain, upper cervical and shoulder pain. It got to the point, where neck injections and neck nerve burning were required. I thought at the time incorrectly that my pain was coming from the neck issue - however as I learned after educating myself extensively, seeing top specialists in physical therapy and dental occlusal specialist - my neck (and by then rest of the body) basically could not handle incorrect bite. Further, I learned that - Dr. Silverstrom had absolutely missed the clear signs of occlusal disease, incorrect bite and tmd issues. After proper diagnosis and treatment last year, including braces and removal of the "Dr Silverstrom" crown - my neck pain and headaches completely disappeared. My brain health and sleep had drastically improved. I do not care about the 2-3k wasted on the "Silverstrom " crown (of course had to be properly redone and paid for again) but frankly disgusted by the lack of dental knowledge and medical ethics plus physical damage caused. The sad reality is that majority of the dentists are not properly trained to assess or treat occlusal issues and do not screen for these common scenarios. Still, this is not an excuse for the Silverstrom group to ignore or at least have some minimal dental knowledge on the subject. I would not recommend to have any procedures at the practice given that now I learned the hard way about what happened to me and given years of nerve and muscle pain inflicted! read more

Silverstrom has great dentists but have to get a second mortgage on your home for procedures to be performed. I have to have 6 teeth removed from the top and one from the bottom and wanted to do it all at once but they insisted I have to pay for it as though it was done seven separate times for a total of over $7,000. The insurance company gave me a lower number and they didn't care and their office manager said that they left out the second page of charges. As a result I have an infection that has spread to my sinuses. read more

A filling and a piece of tooth broke off on my flight to visit my daughter in NJ and I was very uncomfortable & concerned but need not have been as they graciously fitted me in the first day and did not even charge me for the temporary filling. My daughter and her family also all love the Silverstrom Group and would not go anywhere else. My grandchildren, from being very fearful previously at another practice, now have absolutely no fear and even enjoy going to the dentist. They are an exceptionally wonderful practice. read more

So, um, wow, a lot of reviews all over the place for these guys. Let me start years ago when I was in college. My childhood dentist had gone senile so I had to find a new one. My first opportunity - was bad. Cleanings painful, I stopped going. I knew I had to find someone new. Then my friend said she loved Silverstrom, so I thought why not, everyone needs a dentist. First visit - I meet Gary. Really friendly, but we get into a 15-minute discussion on the technology of all the instruments and I realize it's not an act. This is really his passion, and what's impressive is that he's the son, so the passion has been maintained or even intensified in the second generation. Long story short, he finds a bunch of cavities that the other dentist completely missed, tells me all the stats on my teeth (gum levels, I need to floss, etc.), and gets me a second appointment to patch me up. I've been going here for 8? 10? years. I would never leave. I would schedule return trips to New Jersey if I had to, to make sure I could still see this practice. They have the highest standards for all of their staff. I've had both Mirellis and Natalia as my hygienists, and in particular, Natalia is 100% pain free. I've almost fallen asleep a couple of times during my cleaning. They are both very thorough in their cleaning and catch the slightest flaws in my oral health - Gary then comes in and discusses the findings so that I feel comfortable and have knowledge to bring back in 6 months. Never will you find a cleaner, friendlier, more up-to-date, or more professional practice. Really, never. Not possible. These are my life dentists and I would stake my Yelp reputation on it, despite any one star reviews that made it past the filter. read more

An overall pleasant experience. The staff was very friendly, and the equipment used is very updated and comfortable. Digital xrays are taken by relatively small machines which provide less exposure to radiation to the patient. The dentists inspect every first time patient thoroughly to test for any oral disease, and they even claim to be able to detect the early stages of oral cancers with their screening process. I went in for a simple teeth cleaning but got much more, and my dental insurance covered it all. I am very happy with the silverstrom groups' staff members and facility. read more

I have been a patient of Dr David Silverstrom for almost 20 years & recently had to have my second procedure done by Periodontist, Dr Samantha Arons who joined their practice several years ago. On May 7th I had a consult with Dr Arons regarding a possible need for a procedure to help an area where my gums were inflamed. Dr Arons felt that I could avoid having a more invasive procedure if we did a deep cleaning in this area. On June 25th I had an appointment for this procedure to be done. Also I had been receiving injections of Prolia for my osteoporosis and I was concerned about jaw bone loss, a symptom that can occur with certain invasive dental work while taking this medication. Fortunately Dr Aron is well educated on this subject & made herself more than available for questions from me on several occasions, even from her home, prior to my treatment. At my visit, Dr Aron's assistant, Wilmer Palara, was friendly, very efficient & assured me that Dr Aron's gloves were latex free due to my latex allergy. The procedure was pain free and at the conclusion Dr Arons spent a great deal of time explaining more effective ways to care for my gums & teeth. As well, Wilmer demonstrated easier ways to floss to assure that I continued good dental healthcare. In conclusion I give 5 stars as always to this practice, Dr Silverstrom, Dr Arons, Melissa, my dental hygienist, as well as the entire staff for always making me feel that I am receiving the safest and most effective dental care. Can't really comment on the quality of dental work. Seems like a typical cleaning where you can get at any other dentist. The pricing, however, is another story. Went in as insured patient for regular cleaning. Bill was over 330 dollars and not covered entirely by insurance. I don't know about you...but I'm not coming back here again. read more

My daughter had two fillings at this practice and one of them fell out four times in less than three years, the other fell out in less than a year. As a college student, it was very inconvenient for her to return home for them to fix it for free so she was in quite a bit of pain for lengthy stretches of time. Growing up with a mother who was a dental assistant, I know that this is completely unacceptable and basically unheard of. Be careful with their billing practices, I had won a dispute with their health credit card and now over a year later with no warning they have hired a collection agency to collect on this debt. I read the 2 poor reviews of Dr. Silverstrom and laughed, but felt sorry for the doctor and his staff. I've been a patient since 1988 and there couldn't be a group that cared more about patients and assured their comfort. I have recommended Dr. Sllverstrom to friends, who also continue to use his services and share my view. I brought one parent there for a consultation, and Dr. Silverstrom confirmed the reasons for the complicated methodology suggested by my parent's new dentist. And as far as costs, if he's a few dollars more, which I'm not sure he is in my experience, he's well worth it. Maybe the other patient needs to shop for better insurance. My husband and I relocated from out of state, not knowing the "good" and the "bad" of several industries in NJ - by word of mouth or just being familiar with the area. Having a modern facility & technology and of course, competent & pleasant staff was a top priority. I thought it was too much to ask for after a few (huge) misses with some other dentists in the local area. We are very pleased to have found this practice. They truly take their job above and beyond & genuinely seem to care about their patients. We've had a variety of work done thus far with no complaints. Great customer service, welcoming & professional environment and overall, a place that makes you feel at ease in many ways - smiles, positive attitudes, relaxation room, the tv while getting work done - the little things go a long way.
