The Pink Door is nestled in Post Alley amongst all of the top area attractions, and even with the Pink Door being a tourist favorite the staff still find a way remind locals why it's a forever favorite. The service is extremely excellent, the entire team is courteous and accommodating. I highly suggest making a reservation to ensure you're able to be seated that day. Third time's a charm! I have been craving carbonara for several months, the weather was great, the Link Light Rail removes all the traffic / parking stress for me, and The Pink Door had a lunch opening. I've had two bad experiences but hunger and the desire to have the experience most others have inspired me to try again. We were seated in the lounge at this corner table near the bar. Loved it - bright space, spacious, and quite comfortable. Our waitress was fabulous; great recommendations, cheerful, and made our whole meal delightful. I ordered the carbonara and it was everything I wanted; creamy, toothy, and savory. I ordered a seasonal cocktail first, the Hope Springs Eternal, which was a creme de la violette forward refreshing drink. I loved it. For dessert I ordered the house-made semi-freddo and drank it with a mocktail, the To Our Sanity. The mocktail was brightly bitter and paired fabulously with the ultra-creamy, rich semi-freddo. My friend had the branzino-style rock fish and loved it. He mentioned he would happily return for that dish alone, especially since the fish will change. It was lovely and a super fantastic meal. We were on our way home after a cruise from Tokyo to Seattle. A shipboard recommended we try the Pink Door for lunch near the Pike Street Market area during our two day visit to Seattle! Wow, what a great recommendation!! I'm not sure you should go there if you're dieting because the food is so wonderfully rich and tasty Italian! The carbonara pasta I had was exceptional as were the mussels in a rich creamy sauce enjoyed one of the guests. The other guest raved about the salmon special of the day and the exceptional big serving of fries he ordered. It takes a while to score a reservation here if you want to have dinner, so our expectations were thru the roof. Let's start with the cool back alley location, hidden and feels like you are entering a different world. The restaurant is elegant, but quirky and if you are lucky to score a window seat, you have a great view of Pike place and the waterfront. Service was amazing and very attentive, always making sure you had everything you need. We started with the antipasto platter and they had lots of delicious veggies and meats on there. Unfortunately, there is no bread served, which would have been perfect for the antipasto. Usually you get wonderful crusty bread in high end Italian restaurants, so the was certainly a bummer. I ordered the carbonara,a Roman classic and they did a fantastic job with the cheesy eggy goodness and the quanciale was crispy and salty. My husband didn't like his lasagna, so he left slightly disappointed in his dinner. The lasagna was very soft and mushy and the sauce could have used more flavor. Dessert again was delicious, we ordered the Zeppole, which are fried fluffy ricotta dough balls. Yum Parking is easy and hard, depending on the price point. Pike place has several garages, but comes at a high price point, but easy in and out. There is some street parking in the area, but harder to come by. read more

I used to live in Seattle and had never been to The Pink Door, but we decided it was the perfect spot after reading the glowing reviews. You enter through a non-descript pink door in Post Alley, but don't be fooled, it's huge inside and there's even waterfront views. We were promptly seated even without a reservation. The vibe is charming but gaudy over the top Italian renaissance? I know they have live music and sometimes aerialists later in the evening, but we were there a little too early for the entertainment. Our waiter was awesome, super friendly, helpful, and attentive. My daughter and I wanted roasted chicken and that happened to be the special. We split that and a Caesar and some fries. The fries were perfection, a huge portion served with herbs and a delicious aioli. The Caesar was good, but nothing special. The chicken was brick roasted to perfection with mushrooms and cheesy polenta. We didn't like the mushrooms, but the polenta was so good. My partner and I made this reservation 3 months in advance because of how quickly it books up. Unfortunately, I think the 3-month wait + people raving about the food put an expectation in our heads that this would be a spectacular 5 star meal. We started with the arancini, which I can confidently say was the BEST arancini I've ever had. The sauce is so tasty, the outside so crispy, and the filling perfectly cheesy. I could eat two plates of that as my meal alone! For our "main course", we did family-style selections of the lasagna, the garlic bread, the smashed fingerling potatoes, and the house white wine. They had sold out of gnocchi for the night so we didn't get to try that. (The lasagna and the gnocchi are their two vegetarian entrees.) The garlic bread was fine, but not garlicky at all. The burnt grill flavor was overpowering. The smashed potatoes were very yummy, but nothing groundbreaking. The house white wine was delicious! And a half carafe was perfect with dinner. And lastly..... the lasagna. Ughhhhhh. Is it good? Sure. Is it "life changing", "an absolute must try", "famous for a reason", or the "best in Seattle"? Ehhhh... It really tasted like a normal lasagna with pesto. We only ate half. Nothing on the dessert menu stood out to us, so we skipped that. They do have entertainment on a regular schedule, which is fun. The interior of the restaurant is HUGE, so don't think you're having a super intimate/romantic dinner. Service was friendly and they accommodated our request to sit next to each other opposed to across. So all in all, I couldn't stretch to a 4 star when I consider all factors together (the prices, the wait to get a reservation, the food). I wish I could give this place six stars. Let me start with the ambience. Finding this place is not hard, but the only thing you're gonna see is a pink door, no sign no marking of any kind. This is very telling of how popular and fantastic it is when they don't have to advertise where they are. Once inside you're gonna see a beautifully eclectic collection of aesthetically pleasing paraphernalia, let's not forget to mention that on Tuesday nights, the night I was there, they have an aerial acrobatic show that happens a few times throughout the night. Now let's get to the food. The menu is made up of some very authentic and traditional Italian dishes. We started with the Arancini, which is a classic Roman appetizer or street food. It was exactly as I had in Rome. Very tasty. I personally had the tagliatelle with Bolognese. It might be one of the best versions I've ever had. For being a native Seattleite it's actually my first time coming to this location when literally everyone from other Seattle natives I know to even those who've moved here have already eaten here at least once. Well, my bestie made a reservation for 5:30pm on a Wednesday so we both could experience it since he hasn't been here even though it's his third visit to Seattle! Great timing on both our parts. Anyway, I heard a lot beforehand about how pricey everything is here, and the interior pretty much reflects that; you got fancy tables with a candle on each one, there's cloths covering the tables, the seating is fancy and can seat larger groups, and if you're lucky you get seating overlooking the view of the streets of Pike Place Market. Our server was on point for answering questions we had on their expansive menu full of pasta dishes, special catches of the day, alcohol recommendations and specific ingredient questions on others. Now for all our food: - I got the squid ink tonarelli, which is a hefty price of $31 before tax and it came in an ever-so-slightly smaller plate than what I would have wanted. If I look past that, then the taste is actually really darn savory, and I could have another portion if I wanted to splurge! Anchovies actually added more saltiness to this already salty dish but it also created a more seafood-like aftertaste that didn't completely take over the whole dish, The prawns and breadcrumbs were a huge plus in adding some crunch. - My bestie's braised pork shank fell off the bone very easily, and came with a risotto cake and apple slaw that took up over half of the dish. The pork was tender and flavorful, the risotto cake was all right, and the apple slaw was a relief from all the salt all our dishes had. - My bestie also got a winter cocktail for himself that I also got to sip: the Oh What Fun! one. It's tequila with a citrus slice and a little bit of Laphroaig (scotch from Scotland?). I'm not a tequila guy, so this just tasted bitter like literally every other alcohol I've consumed in my life. We spent almost $100 after tips on everything above, and it also counts the bread and buter we got at the beginning, which is $3 extra. This is a great place for dates and splurging indulgences but that's about it; you're paying mostly for ambience and maybe even some live music if you look at the schedule they provide on their menu. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here but I'm happy to say I've tried here as a native Seattle guy. read more

The Pink Door is one of those restaurants that does not need a huge sign displayed on the outside. Just a simple door painted pink. The eclectic interior decor meanders down stairs to the host stand and an open area of tables. A cheeky mural is a backdrop to a small stage. The centerpiece bar wraps to the broad back of the dining room with exceptional views of the water. High ceilings make the space even larger. Even with its large footprint on Post Alley, it has a feel of a secluded speakeasy. We started with drinks; a dirty martini with skewered large olives that laid on the rim so as not to displace the vodka. The mark of a well-schooled barkeep. Other cocktails sport unusual names like There's No Basement in the Alamo and The Celery Made Me Do It. We went for an iced plate of local oysters served with balsamic flavored salt flakes on the side. Unique and the oysters were briny on their own. (I personally prefer a mignonette here or Crystal hot sauce at a beachside bar.) Our son had the lasagna with fresh spinach pasta and layers of pesto and creamy, rich béchamel and topped with marinara. Heavenly. I shared a Caesar salad and for a small upcharge I added anchovies on the side. Fresh romaine and croutons and a fair dressing but nothing exceptional. My rigatoni with meatballs was a simple entree in marinara and fresh basil threads. My wife enjoyed the meat sauced bolognese and incorporated parmigiano-reggiano cheese. Both of these were hearty rustic Italian presentations. We finished with coffee and browsed the dessert menu. We paused on the interesting selections for another visit. I've been wanting to come here for years and I'm glad I finally got the chance! They have live music in the dining room close to the entrance during certain evening hours of most days. There's also a great view of the water and Pike's Place in the other dining room. The servers are friendly and service is fast even when busy. I got the linguine alla vongole and the cioppino, and they were sooo flavorful and full of seafood. I feel like you'll enjoy the food here if you enjoy really strong flavors. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the shrimp and other seafood were perfectly cooked as well. Also absolutely recommend the gingerbread sticky toffee cake! My rule of thumb is basically to always order sticky toffee pudding/cake every time I see it on the menu anywhere, and the candied ginger definitely added a nice touch to this one. Maine- other half was between cioppino and squid ink pasta. The waitress offered him a good combination of both, a squid ink seafood pasta not listed. Needless to say he was impressed.
