Tucked away in an alley at Pike Place, The Pink Door has a very speakeasy-style entrance, no big sign, just that iconic little pink door. Once you step inside, the whole place feels super classy, stylish, and full of character Food-wise, vegetarian options are a bit limited. We tried the arancini, lasagna, ravioli, and garlic bread. The ravioli was honestly quite bland, not something I'd recommend. The lasagna, though, was really good with a nice balance of pesto and marinara flavors. Arancini and garlic bread were decent. We also had their chocolate cake with caramel sauce, it was just okay, nothing special. Service was pretty slow, which was a bit of a bummer. Overall, I'd say it's more about the vibe and experience than the food. I had been here a few years ago when they had an aerial dance performance, and that was definitely a highlight, such a fun experience!

On a recent return to the Pink Door, I was so fortunate to be able to squeeze this in on my trip. Just like the other times I visited the same atmosphere remains. Fun, and icon in the city, and just an all-around great place to have a meal with friends. The service was fantastic, the food is as good as it ever was, and the view if you sit outside, just can't be beat. Still a top spot in Seattle.

TLDR: Taste is lacking, experience was decent, price tag was shocking. With how hard it is to get a table and such underwhelming experience and overwhelming pricetag for mediocre food; definitely is a once in a blue moon thing. (Last time i came was in early 2010s) They have about 6 pages of drinks crammed in smaller fonts in multiple menus, but only one page big fonts of food items. (Usually tells you about something) --- Before visiting: - reservations especially on weekends/peak hours are hard to come by even booked months ahead - the entrance to the restaurant is right in the alley through a pink door (hence the name), very inconspicuous, without any restaurant signs Ambiance: - there's the indoor and indoor-outdoor seating. The in-outdoor seating is on the roof of another building(?) where they extend out the patio with shades and screens. Nice lights and plants herbs planted around. However, you'll quickly notice next to it there's some sort of machine (ac/air intake) where it hums, quite noticeably, on and off every 10 seconds or so which could be quite annoying Food: 1) arancini ($18): Fried risotto ball with stuffed cheese inside similar-ish to a mozarella. Crunchy out gooey in. The calabrian chili sauce is quite interesting but the whole dish is quite lacked of seasoning 2) 11oz pork chop bone in ($38): The pork chop is very smoky from the grill nicely charred, but lacked seasoning. Asparagus is prepared well; mashed potatoes is decent. The rhubard mostarda is hella sour though once your taste bud is adjusted, you can finally taste the slighhhtest hint of sweetness aftertaste. 3) carbonara ($28): Hella oily and not at all creamy that'd happen from emulsion of cheese, egg york, and guanciale fat with pasta water. Pasta was cooked perfectly to al-dente though. This is definitely italian-american establishment (heavy emphasis on the american) as their food doesnt taste close to authentic.

It's one of Seattle's most famous restaurants; a place that's nearly impossible to get a normal-time reservation for unless you book months in advance. For eating here on a Friday night in May, I had to make the reservation all the way back in March. It's been a place I've been wanting to try for quite a while, so was very excited to eat here. The vibe is interesting. It's actually so much bigger than the single pink door entails. When you walk in, you're greeted by a small area with live music, but then you realize that's just the start of it. There's a whole another much larger room that opens up to the waterfront; and so is well lit depending on the time of year. The views from our window-side table were really nice. For starters, we got the arancini and the fettunta. Both of these I thought were more okay then good. The arancini wasn't super crispy, and the inside didn't feel exceptional either. It also needed more sauce in the dish. The bread was also on the tougher and chewier side, but the addition of salt was appreciated. The crust on the slice was particularly not easy to eat. The main dish, though, is what I was waiting for - the Spinach Lasagna. And this absolutely lived up to the hype. I can confidently say it's the best lasagna I've had, and this one doesn't even include meat. It's so smooth, light, and comforting, yet still filling. It's the kind of dish that doesn't look massive when you get it, but as you dig into it and discover the breadth of its layers, you end up quite full at the end - but not in a way where you feel stuffed. They got the portion absolutely right here. Every part of this is great. From the super fresh tomato sauce on the top, to great-tasting pesto, and the flavor of spinach that coats the pasta. But the best part is the pasta - each layer is just so well cooked. The besciamella layer is another standout. And of course, the baking makes the outsides super crispy, kind of like the top and sides of a well-made pizza. It's just an absolute delight to eat, and our whole party - even those who don't like Italian food - really enjoyed the dish. The price is kind of expensive. The lasagna is 27 per person, which is not that bad considering the solid portion, but the appetizers were certainly overpriced. 19 dollars for the arancini is utterly ridiculous. Overall, if you're here - you have to get the lasagna. Everything else is a skip though. 8.75/10

I put my name down around 5:15pm on a friday and got seated at 8pm. The restaurant is very large and has indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the tomato sauce was super fresh. The cioppino was okay -- flavor wise it was good, but the clams and mussels were a little sandy. I wished there was more fish instead of clams/mussels -- the ratio felt off. The strawberry shortcake was delicious-- the biscuits were freshly baked and paired perfectly with the whipped cream and strawberries (plus it wasn't too sweet!)

Excellent food that lived up to the hype it received via online reviews. Great professional service, accommodative of our infant (please note that descending down stairs is required). Fantastic views of the Puget Sound with seating on the patio. Perfect for a summer lunch. I for the Papardelle Al Ragu Bolognese. Great flavor. A fair portion, but not extremely large. I would love to try more of the menu if I ever return to Seattle

I haven't been here in about seven years, and the quality was just as good as I remembered. We were their first reservation since the renovated patio opened and we were treated so well. They were so accommodating for our infant and all of the staff were so kind. Our waitress Elise (sorry if I spelled it wrong) was amazing! Everything we ate was so delicious, but in my opinion, the branzino was just OK. They got new rafters and they adjusted them so the sun wasn't in my babies face. They close fully so you can sit on the patio in the rain also ! Such a great place to bring visitors for a celebration. It will not be 7 years until I visit again.

Simply Seattle's Best. The Pink Door is still my number one place to dine if visiting Seattle for the first time, or only in town for less than 48 hours. The Pink Door is nestled in Post Alley amongst all of the top area attractions, and even with the Pink Door being a tourist favorite the staff still find a way remind locals why it's a forever favorite. The service is extremely excellent, the entire team is courteous and accommodating. I highly suggest making a reservation to ensure you're able to be seated that day. The restaurant is whimsical, charming, inviting, and offers great views both inside and outside. The food is spectacular. There is no picture or video that does the food or experience that can capture just how spectacular The Pink Door really is; I still highly recommend!

This place is so fun! Hidden behind a pink door in a Seattle Alley way and super adorable inside. We got the carbonara and Caesar salad. Delicious! We also got a couple of cocktails as well. They do have ariel dancers for entertainment which is a nice touch. You should def come here if you are in Seattle!

Delicious food. Everything was tasty and fresh . We really enjoyed our meal. Service was great too. It's a cute restaurant z perfect for intimate dinner and celebrating special occasions. I'm not sure if the restaurant is a historical building but it's not ADA accessible. Only entrance has many stairs. It's not wheelchair accessible.

I've heard about the pink door for a long time and been wanting to try it, but they're usually busy and reservation is tough to come by. Finally got to go this past Friday and would say it's just okay for me. Got the arancini, carbonara, and pork chop which were all decent good. Arancini was new to me. It was good to try. Breading was crispy. Risotto was soft. Sauce was on the spicy side for me as I don't really eat spicy. For the pork chop, meat didn't have much flavor. Just tasted like grilled/smoked. I get there's the sauce to complement, but even that was just okay to me. It was quite sour. So overall, the food is alright. The ambiance and vibe is quite nice tho I'd say. It's cool that they have performances. If you seat in the patio, there is a view of the water. Service is great tho, so i would give them that and that's why my rating is 4 and not 3.

Third time's a charm! I have been craving carbonara for several months, the weather was great, the Link Light Rail removes all the traffic / parking stress for me, and The Pink Door had a lunch opening. I've had two bad experiences but hunger and the desire to have the experience most others have inspired me to try again. We were seated in the lounge at this corner table near the bar. Loved it - bright space, spacious, and quite comfortable. Our waitress was fabulous; great recommendations, cheerful, and made our whole meal delightful. I ordered the carbonara and it was everything I wanted; creamy, toothy, and savory. I ordered a seasonal cocktail first, the Hope Springs Eternal, which was a creme de la violette forward refreshing drink. I loved it. For dessert I ordered the house-made semi-freddo and drank it with a mocktail, the To Our Sanity. The mocktail was brightly bitter and paired fabulously with the ultra-creamy, rich semi-freddo. My friend had the branzino-style rock fish and loved it. He mentioned he would happily return for that dish alone, especially since the fish will change. It was lovely and a super fantastic meal. I likely will be back again so I can even out my experiences for the better!

Man oh man this place absolutely delivered. We started with the clams and mussels and sheeeesh they were good. Me and my fiancée were wishing we had rice because that sauce the clams and mussels were swimming in was amazing lol. The Filipino side definitely came out there. For our mains we shared the Pink Door lasagna and the bolognese and both were absolutely amazing. I seriously think about this place whenever I think of Italian food now. Definitely lived up to the hype. Service was great and the ambiance was awesome. Really nice view around Pike Place that made the whole experience even better.

The Pink Door Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Pink Door

November 2025. Is it warm enough inside the dining area to be wearing a sleeveless dress?

I run hot and went in summer months but was very comfortable in a t-shirt and jeans. I would say bring a light wrap just incase. Could depend on where you are sitting too. I was in a booth at the edge of the restaurant by the bar.

Trying to make a reservation online- what's the difference between the Lounge Dining and the Dining Room?

Lounge dining is in a darker room as you enter past the pink door. The dining room has natural lighting, white table cloths and is more airy and open.

I've got a reservation at 9:45pm this Tuesday but the restaurant closes at 10pm. Can I still have a leisury dinner in the restaurant?

    Yes

Is Pink Door charging for bread and olive oil starting 2025?

I went Feb 2025 and there was no more complementary bread :( it's on the menu to order now if you want it

Can a group of 12 get separate checks?

No, it states at the bottom of their menu that they do not do separate checks and it's one check per party

Do they serve foie gras? Someone mentioned it in a comment, but I don't see it on the menu.

I don't recall it being on the menu unless It's listed as a special. I get their papperdelle bolognese every time - sooo good!

Trying to get reservations for October 19th for a wedding anniversary nothing online? Should I try my luck as a walk in?

Do not risk walk in. Call and tell them you can't get anything on line and for help

I'm planning on celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary, on October 3rd can I make a reservation? Does the restaurant do anything special to help us celebrate the occasion? What is the best way to make a reservation?

Not sure they do anything special

What are the best dishes here?

    Eggplant and lasagne!

What time does the lunch menu end and dinner menu start?

    4:30

Do you have beer on draft?

    Of course

Is the outdoor dining area dog-friendly?

You're going to have to ask the restaurant for their current dog policy. We saw none during our visit

    Do you need a reservation?

I recommend if it you are going to go during busy hours.

Do they offer a child's menu?

    When does live music end?

Hi Miguel! The actual schedule for the live performances varies. The best way is to go on their website and click on entertainment for the latest info and schedule.…

Can I bring my own bottle of wine? If so what is the cork fee?

Don't do this. It's not worth it when their drinks are so good.

Do they have any gluten free menu options?

Very limited. On the menu, there is a gluten free option for Panini: PANINI…

    Are gift certificates available?

Yes they do. I believe the lowest amount is $25

21 and over or kid friendly?

    Yes. There were families there...

Is it recommended for vegetarians, not vegan?

Going to guess that it would be very hard for a vegan. They use butter in just about everything. They may be able to accommodate, but I’d call to check.

The hostess walked us through the entire restaurant to the dark back wall, behind the bar. With tall bar chairs. Explained we didn't want that, she walked us back through the entire restaurant to a nice table up front by the windows. Tried a Malbec duo. One was delicious and didn't like the other at all; oddly tannic. The grilled mortadella should have been more grilled. Sitting in a generous portion of burratta-like cheese, olive oil and pistachio butter, it was delicious. But desperately needed some bread. How do eat this without any bread? Once the mortadella is gone, you are just eating spoonfuls of cheese, oil and butter? We hadn't seen our waitress since the app arrived. Having finished the mortadella we finally flagged down someone and asked if we could get a little bread. He said he would handle it right away. Another 10 minutes goes by and our waitress came by. Apologized for not being around and went to see about the bread. Finally got the bread, and it was delicious. But sooooo oily! Like a sponge it dozed oil every time I tried to break off a piece. Was dying to wash my hands. Our entrées were ok. The fried chicken with fusilli was pretty good, but difficult to eat in the deep bowl. Hard to cut. The crispy tofu wrap wasn't crispy and wasn't made well. I have absolutely no idea what flavor profile it was meant to be. Just muddy. I tried to eat the first half. It was stuffed so full it was impossible to eat. I took out more than half the filling before I could manage it. When I got to the second half I understood the issue. There was almost no crispy tofu, but lots of lettuce and other fillings. Maybe it would have eaten better if it had been constructed better. The fries were fine. Pleasant server, but perhaps had too many tables as we didn't get the service expected. It's been a long time since dining at the downtown Purple. Likely wouldn't go back.

This used to be one of my favorite spots at Pike Market. For years, I made it a tradition to bring out-of-town guests here. Over time, I have brought more than 100 people here. It had a charming, warm, and welcoming feel--like a hidden gem in the city. It oozed with kindness and fun. Unfortunately, that has completely flipped! Since the new manager, Anthony, took over, the entire atmosphere has shocked me. What was once inviting now is rigid, cold, and unwelcoming. The biggest issue, however, was the way I was treated. The interaction felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive, which was both surprising and disappointing given my long history with this place. Great establishments are built not just on food or ambiance, but on how people are treated--and that piece is clearly missing now. It's especially unfortunate because the rest of the team still shows glimpses of what this place used to be. Jordon, was genuinely kind and pleasant, but one positive interaction couldn't outweigh the manager's miserable attitude. It's hard to see a place that once felt so special lose its charm like this. I know the winemaker Paul is a great person - so it is hard to leave such a terrible review, but at the same time, if this was my place -- I would want to know what was happening behind the scenes at my establishment. I truly hope leadership reflects on how customer experience is being handled moving forward. Don't give money to places that have toxic attitudes and are joy crushers! Life is too short and far too precious! In the meantime, there are many nearby spots that consistently deliver both quality and incredible hospitality. Skip this place, and instead go to Browne Family Vineyards Tasting Room, The Lonely Siren, The Pink Door, Place Pigalle, or Maximilien. Those places are working very hard to create an exceptional experience!
