I'm so grateful to Dr. Quinn and his amazing team. I was in intense pain from an acute TMJ issue that came out of nowhere, and I had no idea where to turn. All the major TMJ specialists had months-long waitlists, and I could barely open my mouth enough to drink liquids. I would recommend Dr Quinn's office to anyone looking for a great orthodontist! I had an unusual case where I was missing 8 of my adult teeth and needed to replace my baby teeth with implants before they would decay and cause me more problems. The implant process could not start before my front teeth were straightened and my overbite fixed.  I had a dental surgeon I wanted to work with in SoCal and he recommended working with Dr. Quinn since I live in SF. The two of them managed to work together despite the distance to make sure I would get the best results. I had everything you could imagine from extraction to upper and lower braces, TAD's, bands, and retainers. The whole process took about 27 months and I would do it all over again because the result is astonishing! The team at Dr. Quinn's office was the best and they use the latest technology. I was referred to Dr. Quinn by a close friend and a dental professional. I came to have a consultation and inquire about Invisalign treatment or an overnight retainer for my one bottom tooth that was slightly askew. I also mentioned to him that either way, my dentist had informed me that I needed to get two wisdom teeth extracted before starting any orthodonture. He told me that I 100% needed Invisalign treatment, not an overnight retainer and that I did not need to extract my wisdom teeth before starting this treatment. I then started the Invisalign treatment. Nearing the end of my treatment, I began experiencing pain in my mouth; sores and inflamed gums near my wisdom teeth. The pain was so bad I could not eat or drink anything but water for 48 hours. Concerned, I called my dentist who examined me ASAP and mentioned that my wisdom teeth needed almost immediate extraction and that I should not have started Invisalign treatment without initially getting the surgery. He said that the Invisalign had ignited Pericoronitis (a dental disorder in which gum tissue becomes swollen and infected around the wisdom teeth). My dentist also asked why I pursued Invisalign when, in his opinion, I did not need it. I then met with an oral surgeon referred by my dentist who agreed that I should have extracted my wisdom teeth prior to starting Invisalign. He concurred with my dentist that my inflamed gums and mouth sores around my wisdom teeth was most likely provoked by the Invisalign aligners trapping bacteria and causing the infection. He also asked why I pursued Invisalign when, in his opinion, I did not need it. I have now completed both the wisdom teeth extraction and my Invisalign treatment. I did get the cosmetic results that I wanted from Dr. Quinn and his admin staff and dental assistants are lovely. However, considering all the pain I went through, prolonging my wisdom tooth extraction post Invisalign in addition to the money that I spent on Invisalign (about $6,000) versus an overnight retainer (about $1,000-$2,000) I would never recommend his services to anyone. I have never felt so taken advantage of. read more

I hadn't expected to need orthodontic treatment in my 60's, but after having several chipped teeth--due to misalignment--my dentist recommended I consult Dr. Quinn. 12 months later, my bite is corrected and I'm pleased with how my teeth look. I was referred to Dr. Quinn by a dentist I think highly of and was disappointed by the service I received. Dr Quinn himself is kind of aloof, asks very few questions and appears generally disinterested in listening to patient concerns. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and chalked it up to a bedside manner that was stylistically different than my preference but upon asking for an Invisalign consultation he handed me off to his "Invisalign expert" who couldn't answer a single question I had. I asked about different types of treatment, how long it might take, what to expect and was so taken aback by the level of incompetence that I walked out. A few weeks later after talking again with my dentist who told me that maybe it was just the dental assistant, I tried calling his office back to see if there was someone else on his Invisalign team that I could speak with and he said I should look elsewhere. I'm glad he did, but figured I would save others the wasted time of a consult here. I became a patient of Dr. Quinn about 10 years ago. Unfortunately, it seems like the quality of care has shifted dramatically. On July 18 & again on 22, 2019 I called and left VM for them stating that I needed an appointment to come in. No call back. I called again on July 25 and spoke to Kathy. I explained to her that none of my messages were returned and I needed an appointment because I started grinding my teeth to a point that I wake up with tiny teeth crushed in my mouth, my jaw locked this morning, and I horrible headaches. I needed a night guard and a retainer (as I had lost both on a trip). She said the first appointment was on August 20th! A month out- while I'm telling her I'm waking up with crushed teeth in my mouth. I also reminded her that a night guard will take approximately 1-2 weeks to make after they take an impression of my teeth, so it be September when the retainers will arrive- and I couldn't wait that long. My head is killing me. Kathy said she can call me if another patient cancels before then. But if no one does- I'll be living w this for another 6-8weeks! I explained to her that I come from a family of doctors and I know they always have a few slots open for an emergency. She stated this was not an emergency! WOW! I guess I need to be bleeding to take up that appointment! Maybe in another week when I grind my teeth down to the root (which I have actually done and had two teeth pulled when I was teenager as a result) they can fit me in! I was very upset and asked for Dr. Quinn to call me. As someone who has my own business, I would like to know how my clients are being treated- if messages are going unanswered. She advised that first the office scheduler would (Ann?) would call me and then if she decides, Dr. Quinn would. I was literally begging for her to find me an appointment sooner. I told her I would have not called again & changed orthodontists by now but for the fact that I figured maybe things happen once in a while and this may have been it, but figured once my calls gets through, I would be seen immediately. She once again repeated that there are no appointments available & that Dr. Quinn would not call me back. At this point- frustrated by this treatment, I told her that if he doesn't call me to sort this out- I will write him a review about this & how uncaring they are about their patients. She asked if I was threatening them. I said that I am not threatening, but rather stating that if I don't hear from dr. Quinn, I will write what happened in a review. About six hours later, she called back stating they had an appointment on Monday! Magic! By that time, I had spent several hours finding another orthodontist, who scheduled me for Monday stating their doctor was out of the office tomorrow (Friday) and they fit me in on Monday. I relayed to Kathy that I would not need that appointment anymore and found another doctor realizing that I will never again be a position where I have to beg my orthodontist in tears to see me and with how they have treated me today, I can't say if this would not happen again. I asked if Dr. Quinn was going to call me because I wanted to speak to him (from the perspective of one business owner to another). Apparently he would not! Wowowow! The lack of empathy and willingness to find a solution is disappointing. Apparently when an issue arises, I was not worth Dr. Quinn' time to call to try to resolve it. Great experience here as far as Invisalign goes. My teeth look so much better! 3 stars because I let Dr. Quinn do the "manicure" process after to reshape the teeth and he chipped my front tooth slightly. When I spoke with him about it he tried to convince me that it wasn't the case. You don't need to be a professional to tell when there is a chip in your tooth so sorry but trying to convince me that I'm wrong instead of looking for a solution is not the right route... Otherwise I would fully recommend this office. Everyone there is super nice and very flexible when it comes to scheduling. My 11-year-old has been going to see Dr Quinn since prior to COVID. He has fixed the gap in her front teeth and created space for her back teeth to come in properly which had previously been causing her pain. My daughter has a lot more confidence with her lovely smile. She says the staff are very nice and personable during her visits, loves the color options and sparkles that come with her retainer. This review is way overdue. My dentist which is amazing referred me to Dr. Quinn. 1. The first time I went about 1 year to 1.5 ago. I received a financial consultation from someone at the office. I honestly don't remember the name of the lady. What I do remember: *She wanted to get the consultation done as soon as possible so I didn't feel comfortable asking questions and when I did ask she was extremely defensive. She wasn't nice or welcoming which you would think someone would be if trying to get more clients. *When I asked about the retainer treatment, she said something among the lines of " you know this treatment costs $XXXX" implying she thought I didn't have the financial means to pay it. * During the whole conversation I felt I was being looked down on because this person thought without even knowing me that I did not have the financial means to pay. 2. Dr. Quinn came in and I told him that my issue was the following: I was looking to resolve the gap in between my front two teeth. I asked if the retainers would work and he agreed. I asked him if the gap between my front teeth closed, were other gaps between my teeth going to open Because of course that would defy the whole point of me trying to fix my teeth, if then I had an additional problem of having other gaps. He told me that as he will close my front gap other gaps would open because of the movement but then he would close those gaps by tightening my retainers as we went with the process. Well this is what happened: * During my year treatment he never was personal or asked if I had any questions. I had to ask the questions and in my last visit I asked him about the other gaps developing amongst my teeth which I assumed he would close as he had told me in the beginning. He basically told me "well if I am closing the gap between your front tooth obviously you are going to have other gaps" and left it as that. I was like wait what, I know this Einstein, this is why I asked if this was going to happen in the beginning and if you were going to fix it. Of course I didn't say any of this but that was exactly what I was thinking. Basically he was telling me he was going to close my front gap and that was it, he was leaving me with the rest of the problems which HE CREATED! Just as an additional note I am a person of color and I've seen how he treats his male white patients, he is super nice and personal and I never got that sort of treatment. Which makes me question if this had anything to do with my race. At this point I was so over this situation so I decided to get a consultation with a friend that is an orthodontist out of SF. She informed me that retainers were never going to fix my issue and that I actually need braces to fix this problem. Now I have to go through another treatment again! Anyways, after spending more than $2000 dollars ( half was paid by my insurance l) in treatment, I did not get my problem resolved. Dr. Quinn did nothing which is extremely unprofessional and unethical. I think it is important to point out that the dental assistants were always super nice to me and welcoming and always asked if I had questions. Also the one of the receptionists, black hair, maybe mid 30s, that would sometimes check me out was super nice so 5 stars to them, unfortunately I can't say that about Dr. Quinn or one of the receptionist who was always there when I went to the consultation. I am not sure of her name but she was this white lady, in her maybe mid 50s who never greated or acknowledged me when I was there. Lastly, a lot of things have to change in this office starting by the front desk staff and Dr. Quinn being honest and upfront about the things he can and cannot do and not just take people's money without consideration. Also please please have you office and yourself DR. QUINN take a racial equity workshop. It is embarrassing that still business like yours treat people of color so poorly. read more

I highly recommend Dr Quinn & his staff to anyone looking for clarity of treatment plan, integrity and quality care. I believe they are so good that it was totally worth driving from South Bay to SF over the last couple of years. I contacted Dr Quinn for straightening my teeth. It was an uncomfortable concept to go through the process as an adult but Dr Quinn broke down how the treatment would work. He explained all options with clear information on his recommendation. He even connected me to one of the best periodontists - Dr Yonemura for gum work. The clarity of treatment plan made it easy to start and stick with the treatment for about two years. I realized fairly early that he and his staff displayed great integrity by putting interests above any commercial objectives. For example, he recommended using wires for better outcome even though Invisalign would have costed more. Finally things worked out as planned in terms of the treatment because Dr Quinn is an expert in his field and his staff is super efficient at scheduling visits. Sophia coordinated with Yuki at Dr Yonemura's office to ensure that appointments at both places were set up together when possible. I had braces as a kid growing up from age 14-17. After that, as many kids do, I got lazy and never wore my retainers so my bottom teeth shifted. At age 26, I went to Dr. Quinn to help figure out a short term plan to get my teeth straight again. Dr. Quinn and his team did a fantastic job. I started in October of last year and just got my braces off today. His team worked on straightening my bottom set of teeth while adjusting my retainers to get my top set back the way they were. The office is set on the 17th floor so you get a beautiful view of San Francisco on every visit. Everyone on his staff is friendly and they all remember your name. You can tell that Dr. Quinn cares a lot about getting the job done right so we had a little bit of a delay but it was worth it. I am a happy patient! read more

Thank you Dr. Quinn for realigning that ONE PESKY TOOTH! I had braces when I was 12, wore my retainer into my early 20's. Then eventually lost it. In my early 30's I noticed one tooth started to shift. I have a pretty significant overbite and honestly, I don't think most people noticed that one tooth that was out of place but it bothered me so much! Each year I felt it moved a little bit more. I finally decided to have it fixed. I had gone on a few consultations elsewhere. One place told me I needed a full set of upper and lower braces to get the best result. Others wanted to push Invisalign. I'm the type of person who is always snacking. And I was also worried I would be non-compliant with wearing it. Having a removable device wasn't an option for me. I knew I needed good old fashioned braces. I was pleased upon my consultation to find that correction was possible with lower braces just on the front 6 teeth. I was also thrilled to know that it would only take about 10 months. I went ahead with the treatment plan and was able to get clear braces. No 38 year old wants to become a brace face twice in her life. (Although the wire was metal, no one knew I had braces down there unless I told them or was smiling too hard). Now, 9 - yes NINE! (Ahead of schedule.. yay!) months later my braces have come off and it's perfect! Dr. Quinn is great and his staff are all wonderful too. Sophia and Heather are super sweet! This business is a blessing for me. Unfortunately, my regular Orthodontist is only accessible for me ONCE a month so whenever I have issues with my braces now (which is also unfortunately pretty often-- and I DON'T think its something extreme on my end that causes these issues) I know I can come here for help. Thank god for this establishment and its amazing staff. Four times now, the cruddy rubber bands holding my arch expander (one on each side) has randomly worn down and broken off. My first solution was to tolerate the wiggling and jiggling of the loose arch expanders until I can see my Orthodontist ,but then it started to irritate my tongue and cheeks so I called around to see if I can get some emergency help. On the two occasions that I've called here seeking help, they've been more than amazing and accommodating. They'd schedule me in ASAP and their solutions for those stupid loose bands (metal wires instead of rubber bands to secure them in)they gave me were PERFECT. With my last two incidences with the arch expander they've fixed it and now they're perfectly secure and intact. I honestly wish I discovered this place sooner and got my ortho work here done instead. Thank you so so so much for all the help! Oh also-- I want to also mention that the atmosphere and establishment is CLEAN. It actually feels cheery and hygienic! read more

Only good things to say about Dr. Quinn and his amazing staff. They are incredibly competent, conscientious, friendly and run a tight ship. Dr. Quinn extended my Invisalign treatment 3 times because the results weren't perfect. Cosmetically to me it was fine after the second round, and had he decided to stop I would not have known the difference, but he felt my teeth were still not close enough together. We are talking about sub-millimeter distances, but he didn't stop until it was right. Note this was a much longer treatment than we had anticipated, but what I paid was the original quoted price, not a penny more. My periodontist and dental hygienist examined my teeth today and both were so blown away by the quality of the work on my permanent retainer they were asking me questions about how it was done. He and his staff are amazing from the moment that wonderful lady answers the telephone to the first day one meets with Anne, his nurse, and meets with him. Signing up, they are super nice and offer to bend over backwards to help you with insurance. After that, I got a letter and a shrug and said I was on my own. The worst was my first interaction with this doctor. I was standing up and he referred to me in the third person, asking a nurse to get me to sit down. He wouldn't even say hello to me. Wtf?! Any question I had was answered very briefly with no elaboration. Maybe you can get away treating teens that way but I do not appreciate it. After the third time of over a 20 minute wait after my appointment time, I complained and asked what was the issue. I was told that if I wanted a prompt appointment time, I shouldn't schedule times in the afternoon. Again, wtf!? EDIT: Yes, I was a patient there. He always listened attentively, patiently and courteously, as did his staff--particularly Kathy at the Front Desk, who always arranged appointments to have the wires removed & reinstalled before & after my cleanings at my convenience; Ann, who had inducted me into the process at the beginning and encouraged me and instructed me throughout; and Seerat, who trained me in the use of the retainers. When I first started my orthodontics journey I never thought it would end up with a five star yelp review. But here we are. Dr. Quinn and his team are that good. I am someone that needed major work and was very scared at the beginning of the process. About three years of braces, a jaw surgery and a lot of appointments. From the very first appointment I knew I was going to be in great hands with this team (which came at the recommendation of my dentist Dr. Kimberly Mitchell). During that initial consultation they explained everything very clearly and gave me the appropriate amount of space but also encouragement knowing that I was going to make a very important decision for my life, on whether to go through with the orthodontics plan + surgery...or not and deal with the potential long term consequences. I am very glad I chose to move forward. Dr. Quinn is incredibly knowledgable, a straight shooter and also has a great dry sense of humor. The entire support staff is always a joy to work with. You definitely end up building bonds with people in the office throughout the process. Things are at the point where I look forward to having appointments. I found the entire office to be consistently helpful, professional, and friendly. Additionally, they developed a safe and secure plan to operate in the COVID era, which kept my treatment on course and allowed me to conclude ahead of an already aggressive schedule.
