my husband and I got tacos tonight on June 24, 2026 at the American Fork location. I'm not sure what happened but, our birds had no blue cheese which was an easy fix and they did fix it quickly. But as I was biting into my tacos. I the tortillas weren't really cooked or heated through very well and there was literally no cheese. When I flagged down the young man who seemed to the shift, he very politely told me expensive and they were cutting back on it. When I showed him my taco with literally 2 to 3 tiny shreds of cheese on it, instead of the cooked cheese shell that I was accustomed to, he was like "oh whoa that's not enough!" no kidding. Additionally, the meat was overcooked, kind of crispy and crunchy as opposed to being tender or juicy. We each got two tacos, we each got the bird and my husband got a Memphis and I got fleeing Californian. None of them were up to smoked taco standards. I tried to leave a review through their website and what I got was "Sorry this seems like Spam so you can't submit this review." How to lose a in one visit. This would be the way. But I'm sad because they really did have something unique going for them, very tasty. Very intriguing mix of flavors. But you gotta bring back the cheese guys you gotta bring back the cheese and the crispy crust and the tender meat because that's why we showed up in the first place. read more

The Smoked Taco is usually fire but this time it was not good. Started with the kid behind the counter told us to wait to order and we then watched him talk to his buddies from the next door Les Schwab tire store. The flavors and textures of their tacos are always great and today was no exception but the problem is that the meat was sooooo dry and overcooked that we could hardly stomach it. The chicken on the salad was sparse and more like jerky than what you'd expect to find on a great salad. The Fleeing California and the 225 special were sloppily made with very dry meat. The shrimp taco had fully five tiny little shrimp and the shell was only half full. Big disappointment! I ordered the Elote too, forgetting that I don't really care for their style. It too was dry! Last issue was that 1/2 the tables were dirty. They weren't busy. Only three tables total. The kids were too busy talking to each other about the smoothy drink that one of them brought in for the team. We'll try again but if the meat is dry like it was this time, I will take it back even if my wife makes me sleep on the couch for causing a scene! read more

The smoked taco is a once-a-week staple for us and I truly crave these tacos almost every single day (no joke). The ambience is bright and upbeat, and the workers are always so kind, funny and entertaining!! we had somewhat of a bad experience at the bountiful location (so bad that they ended up giving us coupons for 2 free tacos and churro bites), we have no idea that the coupons would only work at that location, but the workers here were nice enough to apply the coupons to their location anyways! genuinely made up for the other experience in this was such a fantastic lunch!!! 10/10 on anything you could possibly order from here. read more

The gringo taco is amazing!!! I love the gringo sauce and crunchy jalapeños. I did wish there was a little more of the gringo sauce and crunch jalapeños on the tacos. I ordered two tacos and was stuffed! My kids had the Carmel apple churro fries. The cream cheese/whipped cream was really good with the churro fries. The Carmel sauce made a great addition. Tacos just aren't exciting to me unless they lean into being weird. This place really delivered!! The Smoked Taco has a bright retro vibe and menu that makes you scratch your head and drool all at the same time. The Smoked Pastor was the winner of the two I ordered - the subtle smokiness and well-executed simplicity just made me want more. The Smoked Taco is a great twist on the taco scene with unique takes and flavors. First the time there we got the duo combo of two tacos and tried The Gringo which I recommend and the Phil Billy. This place was so delicious! I am excited to come back again. So first, the line went fast which always gains points in my book. I wish that they had some kind of meal combo but everything is ordered individually. I got two tacos and the portion was large enough that it was plenty for me. First, the bird. I thought this one was okay but the buffalo sauce and the pickled carrot didn't pair very well to my taste. It was good but not great. Second, the gringa. This was my favorite of the two. The flavor balance was awesome and they did such a good job on the brisket. The candied jalapeño was a little hot still so I removed a good portion of them since I have a weak spice tolerance but after doing that it was spectacular. I will 100% be getting this taco again. This place is now in my regular taco rotation. It's a place you want to come back to again and again. We went on taco Tuesday and they were running a deal on their chicken tacos. We arrived just before 12 which was great because this place can get busy. But the line moves fast. Chips and queso was fantastic the right amount kick to cheese ratio. I would come back just for that. Churro fries were very unique and a nice delicious treat after the spicy Smokey favors of the tacos. I hope the owners see this! I wish I could give a zero star, our bird tacos were completely UN edible!!! The "chicken" was so over cooked and didn't even resemble chicken. Imagine a Cheeto but it's supposedly chicken. What a waste of money. We were hungry and now we are hungry and disappointed. It was about an hour til close when we ordered but that's no reason to not make fresh meat. It was like it has been cooked and reheated in the microwave a dozen times in the day, but its pieces smaller than my child's pinky. This is one SMOKIN' Taco! There are some places that are fresh, exciting, and new the just grab you with the first. What a great take on tacos! Let's start with the tacos. We tried four: the Gringo, The Monkey Muscle, the Fleeing Californian, and the Smoking Pastor. To start, I love the texture and flavor of the shells. They have a crispness while maintaining a good bite with fried cheese poking out of the edges. Each had their own unique flavor, sauce, and smoked meat. We liked them all, but the Fleeing Californian was rising to the top. The creamy chimichurri was a pleasant surprise on the Smoking Pastor. The masa fries are something new to me and what a great idea. Loved them, the toppings, and the queso! It was cool to watch them being made too. We tried the nachos with the smoked brisket, which was a winner too. I loved the flavor and texture of the chips. And don't fear the candied jalapeños. They are not too sweet, but the candy process also takes the edge off. If peepers and jalapeños are not your thing, ask them to not be included. I love good food experiences and flavors and The Smoked Taco wins on Tuesdays and every other day of the week. You don't have to grab me with home street authenticity, give me some great flavor, because that is what culinary exploration and growth is all about. Purists, you are just missing out! read more

My friend and I wanted a casual street taco place and were nervous that The Smoked Taco might be a little pricey, but it was the only taco shop in our area so we decided to give it a shot. Normally when I grab tacos, I go for three or four tacos but two here is plenty. The tacos are larger than I expected and they are delicious! I've been to a dozen taco shops in Utah County and The Smoked Taco really blew me away with tacos that are fancier than just "meat, tortilla, cheese" without making them too expensive. I ended up eating all four of my tacos because I wanted to try them all! I really feel like you get your money's worth here and they have a solid list of creative tacos to pick from. We opted to dine in and were even impressed by the service. The cashier give some great recommendations and they came around to grab our trays and see how we enjoyed the food. With all the hype of this place I knew I had to come and check it out myself. Met a friend here for a lunch date and it was a fun spot to play catch up with an amigo. Their tacos are pretty creative and the menu had fun/interesting names for their taco concoctions. However, if you're looking for authentic/Mexican street tacos, this is not the place to go to. This place is about tacos left to your imagination and creativity juices at its best. We tried: The Gringo, Fleeing Californian, The Bang Bang, and the Smoking Pastor. All were really good. The Bang Bang can use more shrimp, as I found that the shrimp were really lacking in every bite. The Smoking Pastor was drowned with onions, looked (and tasted) like it was an onion taco. The star of this visit for me was the churro fries! Winner WINNER Chicken Dinner with this dessert! Way to go in serving churros the best way possible!
