Before our trip to Gatlinburg, I did some research on the best BBQ spots in the area, and Bennett's Pit Bar-B-Que kept coming up--so it had been on my list since day one. I'm happy to say the recommendations did not disappoint! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant had a cozy, welcoming feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Although we decided to order to go because of the rainy weather, the experience was still excellent. The staff member who helped us with our order was fantastic--she recommended several sides and sauces we wouldn't have chosen on our own, and they ended up being great additions. The food itself was incredible. Everything looked amazing, smelled even better, and tasted absolutely delicious. The portions were also larger than expected, which was a great bonus. Bennett's was highly recommended to us by local friends and a variety of online searches. We loved being able to join the wait list. However we still had to wait once our party was called. My husband and I both ordered the pork salad and we split the combo appetizer. The pork was good but most everything else was lacking in flavor. My mother had the buffalo wings and enjoyed them. My dad had the burger and enjoyed it as well. Our order came out wrong in the beginning and was mixed with someone else's, but our server made it right. We stopped here since a member of our family's name is Bennett and he loves BBQ. Don't let the front of house detour you from exceptional service you will receive if Mrs Barbara is your waitress! We nearly walked out because the hostess could not figure out how to handle our group of 15 (baseball families who are used to working with waitresses to make it a seamless meal every time). Mrs Barbara greeted us at the table with a smile and we discussed how to do checks to make it easy on her end! Food was hit or miss. The ribs were phenomenal, the deep fried deviled eggs were great especially with the relish that is served with them. The brisket unfortunately was very dry. The Mac and cheese was one of the top ones I've had at a restaurant, I am very picky with Mac and cheese and there was not a bite left here! We would eat here again for the deviled eggs and ribs. This is a place I'd been looking forward since before I began this year's vacation. I had heard about this spot the night before flying down from Connecticut, so of course I've been wanting to come and review this spot. Upon arrival, the first thing I had noticed is that you have to park in the back. That's where Bennett's has their parking for some reason. It can be a bit of a challenging walk if you have disabilities, but still quite doable. Nevertheless, this is a pretty famous spot for Pigeon Forge BBQ, and by the time we had entered Sevier County, I was already craving BBQ. We were actually supposed to meet up with some other people there, but it never quite panned out, so it was just me, my brother, my dad, and my stepmom again. Group of 4. Oh, and if you want to bring pets, only service animals are allowed, so don't try to bring Fido in just because you want to look for doggie treats. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When coming in, I had noticed the floors to be a bit slippery. Like, what did they coat the floors with? Crisco?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And no, it's not an issue with my shoes. They may be new, but I'd been wearing Merrell hikers for years and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they have good grip. They're great for walking, so if I find the floor to be slippery, that's a them problem in this case, not a me problem. That said, everything was easy to find, and we appreciated the menus being given to us immediately. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also nail the ambiance of a Southern BBQ Pit which I find to be much appreciated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Out of the party, I was the only one who got burnt ends. Everyone else had brisket. They didn't have collard greens today, so my brother had to settle for green beans. Between the four of us, our sides included Mac and cheese, Cole slaw, and green beans, and we each got one garlic biscuit as part of our orders. I was also the only one to get an alcoholic drink this time around, that being the Hunch Punch Cooler. I'm not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous trying the drink, but. not because of the alcohol. It's because it contains Starry, and the last time I ordered a bottle of Starry, it tried to come out my nose. No other soda I've ever drank did this. So yeah, I was not a fan of the change from Sierra Mist to Starry. That being said, the drink itself I was actually able to hold down much better. Honestly, I feel like the alcohol may have had something to do with it, but the components of the drink also helped make this an enjoyable drink. Yeah, the Hunch Punch Cooler is still worth a try even if you've had less than stellar experiences with any of the ingredients that go in it. I thought my burnt ends were good, and the Mac and cheese and Cole slaw were good sides too. My whole meal was tasty, but I think adding Mustard's Last Stand helped elevate the flavor of the burnt ends. If I'm being honest, I regret not getting a bottle of the mustard sauce to take home. I did get a chance to try the brisket and green bean too. The brisket was good, but I do agree it was a tad dry. Again, that mustard worked miracles on it. The green bean was good enough that I could see myself grabbing it as a side if I were to come here in the future. It's not the best green bean order I've ever tasted though. Service was pretty decent too. Nothing bad, but nothing that would make me say "AMG MAKE THIS GUY CEO RIGHT THIS SECOND". He was fine. No impact on the rating either which way. At the end of the day, it's good BBQ. It's not gonna rank as my favorite all by itself, but it's good, and the Mustard's Last Stand does a great job elevating the food. This place was recommended via an article that said Best BBq in Pigeon Forge. Well since we have not been to any other BBQ in town its just going to be rated against all of the ones I have been too. The highs: I could order online, price seemed decent, pick up with easy. $43 with tip for the Texas sampler which was all the meats plus two sides and we added on a banana pudding. The sauce was my favorite part - I would buy a jar. The brisket was good - juicy had a hint of smoke. The jalapeño sausage had a nice chew with a snappy skin and a bit of a kick. The ok: The chicken had a nice smoke flavor but a bit on the dry side. The pulled pork again nice smoke and flavor - but dry. The wouldn't order again: pork ribs - fall off the bone because they were dry and way overcooked. The biscuits- dry. The corn - disgusting- overcooked- greasy. The banana pudding ($5) - flavor was sweet but pudding was grainy. I would go back for the sauce and the brisket. The portion size of the Texas sampler would feedback hungry person. I don't eat much so I only ate a bite or two - If yiu had two very hungry people might want to add something additional on. The man picked it uo at 6pm on a Friday and it wasn't busy so I think the claims of best bbq are very subjective as all food is. After reading reviews we decided on Bennett's for dinner on a Thursday evening, we got promptly seated, Gary was our waiter, we got our drinks and ordered the deep fried hard boiled eggs ... they are excellent!!! Be sure to add their relish to them it enhances the taste, it is not too sweet or sour and helps balance the flavors. We both got the burnt ends meal, pretty good and would recommend them, Mac and cheese is really good, sweet potato was a little small but very flavorful, the rolls are really tasty, the BBQ beans are ok not bad but not great a little to tomato / sauce taste for me, that's a personal choice. Good, not special, barbecue. Ribs were tasty, but overcooked, and the barbecue sauce was very ordinary, lacked any kind of pop/zing. Green beans were overcooked also, but were tasty. Collard greens were very bland. Unfortunately, the roll/biscuit was. "meh" too. Seating hostess was very nice and I was seated promptly after a very short wait. Server was very nice also. Stopped after a day at the NP, hungry and getting out the car getting smacked in the face by that real barbecue smell made the stomach rumble louder. Friendly greeting as we walked in, seated quickly (no crowd), drink orders taken, and menu scanning in minutes. Did Sweet-Tea 1/2 & 1/2 (perfect) some places cannot get it right. We tried two samplers- an appetizers one and a barbeque one. The appetizers were really good. Never had a deep fried deviled egg (now I have) and Mia (our waitress was right) the chow chow sauce took it to a different level. The fried pickles were perfect & she split the wings for us (very nice), my bourbon style was delicious. The barbecue platter had a nice mix of meats. I was pleasantly surprised as sausage is not my favorite, but the jalapeño sausage was my favorite, especially with mustard sauce (again, great suggestion by Mia). The barbecue was okay, nothing that would make me drive back any great distance like some, but for a tourist spot, it was decent. The price was fair for what you got. I thought everything was dried out, the chicken had no juice and the ribs were really dry even after I smothered in sauce. Tender, but dry. The beans & potato salad was good. For starters, my family and I were supposed to go to Boss Hogg's BBQ, as it is a tradition of ours (we come to Pigeon Forge, TN once a year). However, a clerk from a local store told one of my family members, "Bennett's BBQ is the BEST... and it's locally owned." So this family member relayed the information to the rest of us... hesitantly the plans changed... As soon as we drove up, I said, "This doesn't look like the best BBQ..." It looked like every other chain restaurant that serves barbecue. It reminded me of a Famous Dave's. When we walked in, we were greeted and seated rather quickly. However, the waitress was very rude. She had an attitude while taking our drink orders (we all got water), and when we asked what she recommended, she said, "It's all good," and that was it. When one family member asked a question about an item on the menu, she gave a snarky response. We placed our order: one full rack of baby back ribs and two Texan Samplers (all to share). It was in fact, not all good. The ribs were gross, flavorless and tiny. The sausage was decent. The burnt ends were mushy. I didn't try the chicken, and the pulled pork was drier than the Sahara Desert. Finally, the brisket... I hardly touched it because, by that point, I was already disappointed in the meal. If you like barbecue, don't waste your time here. They said the ribs were fall off the bone, they were more like hard as a bone, the pulled pork was extremely dry from sitting around. The Mac and cheese tastes like Stouffers. The green beans were mushy and disgusting. Baked beans were just canned beans with extra bbq sauce. I highly recommend Boss Hoggs, or Preachers, heck bbq from Kroger is better. Will never return. Grabbed a bite for dinner here recently on a Friday night. Waited a mere 5 minutes for a table, which I was surprised about considering I was told it would Be at least 15 minute wait. We had originally wanted BBQ at Delauders across town, but they were already sold out.... That said, Let's get into the meat and potatoes of this review (pun intended): Service: Our waitress was good! She was speedy and kept our drinks full. My ONLY complaint was that she gave us a whole story after our meal about how she didn't want to be there and she requested the night off but had to work anyway. It was strange. Food: overall it was tasty! Was there anything spectacular or special? No. But it was tasty. There's a sign out front that says they won the award for best BBQ 32 years in a row. Not sure what the comparison is there. Again, it was good. Not great. I got the Carolina pork sandwich with mac/cheese and green beans. Sandwich was good! Mac was good! Recently stopped here while in town for a Bachelor weekend. The Bachelor had ate here before and told everyone it was a good BBQ spot. The restaurant was clean as well as the bathrooms and had a nice ambiance. We came in for an early dinner, so it wasn't busy at all and was super quiet. Our service was great; our waiter was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed as well as explaining the menu and restaurant to us that have never been before. The food: the fried pickles were great, thin and the batter was super good along with the ranch they served with it. I got the grilled chicken breast sandwich with Mac n cheese and French fries. It was good! Pretty messy but that's to be expected with BBQ, haha. The sides were decent just pretty much your traditional mac and fries nothing special. The portions are HUGE! The rest of the table got BBQ combo plates and we definitely ALL asked for to-go boxes so be expecting to leave with some leftovers. All in all it was pretty good - not the best BBQ I've had but it still hit the spot. Giving four stars due to some of the other guys saying some of the items they got were a little dry. I would still recommend this place if you're visiting Pigeon Forge. The service was really top-notch and the food isn't that bad either compared to some places on the strip! :) read more

Good bbq spot in Pigeon Forge, this place was listed as a place to try out on a lot of TN blogs and decided to try while we were out here. Good biscuits and enjoyed my salad with the shared bbq plate. Other favorites were the chicken wing app and the collard greens. Ribs were good too. I can't say its the best bbq I've had but it was decent. I didn't like the dessert too much, a berry cobbler - my husband really enjoyed it but something in the texture wasn't for my palate I guess. Apart from the food, the restaurant and bathroom were clean and the service was great. I loved our waitress, she was super friendly and helpful. I also loved that the mgr came to help a friend with us who had quite a few diet restrictions. They were patient and helped pick items on the menu that would work for her. Wow! This place was really really good! The service was great, super friendly and informative. Plus, the food was fantastic!
