The food was very good, I got a burger, and we started with the chips and dip, both were very tasty. The restaurant itself was very quaint and comfortable. We came on $5 house cocktail day, so we tried out a few different drinks, the VSS, the Mez, and a Berry Bourban Mash, all were tasty, but the VSS was VERY sweet. Service was excellent right up until we left, unfortunately, my friend was inadvertently covered in a beer that a waitress was carrying to a table. The waitress apologized profusely. We had been to the Hot Glass Art Center a mile down the road, and yelp pointed us here with the great reviews. The corn app is so good, that 2 days later when I picked up the completed blown glass projects, I ordered 2 of them to take home. Big hit all around. So very good. I got the burger, but only because everyone else got things I wanted to try and I like a variety. It was excellent and generous. My daughter got the Mac and cheese to me was sub par. It could be because it was runnier than usual, but I would not recommend it. Hubby got salad and enjoyed it a lot, it was quite large. Son got the waffles. No room for dessert. Highlights for me, was the music (they had some Grateful Dead playing which I loved) and the fact that on a Thursday mid day we were the only ones in the place. Wait staff was great. Friendly, helpful, shared their favorites. When the Dead came on, I went back and asked them to turn it up louder and they did, which I loved. Great place and we will come back. read more

very good food. Pickles are very good. Burger is small and taller than it is wide. Corn is great, and all of the food was *very* hot. Mac and cheese is reminiscent of Annie's with the white cheddar sauce. Nice that they shred their own cheese, it needed something more than pasta, cheese, and breadcrumbs. Decent size portions all around. Skip the berry mocktail. Salad was good, nothing out of the ordinary but better than I would make at home. Service was great, music choice was excellent, and the building is cool with ample parking. Nice to see them cooking through a window. Only one bathroom though. read more

We stopped here for lunch on a trip from Providence to Rockport. The entire experience was top notch. Cooper and Carisa were excellent and took care of us. The owner is the chef. We had the pretzels to start. Highly recommend and were excellent! I had the mushroom sandwich and my husband and friend both had the burgers cooked differently but were spot on for how they should be. We love that everything is locally sourced, and the restaurant itself is comfortable and relaxing. Thank goodness no blasting music!!! We came for the clam chowder but it wasn't good at all. Very bland and the potatoes were too big. More potatoes than clams. Then since it was $2 oyster night we ordered two dozen for the three of us and they were so tiny , also they don't serve saltine crackers at all so had to slurp them off the shell The dining room is very loud. read more

Smoking Trout is a newer restaurant in Marlborough, NH. We stopped for an early dinner and were very impressed. From the moment we walked through the door the staff were friendly and prompt. Our drinks were refreshing and well made. Our food fresh and flavorful. Street corn is my favorite and they did it very well. For our main dishes my husband and daughter raved about the Steak Frites. My mushroom Cibatta Sandwich was delicious. We loved the atmosphere and have found a new favorite restaurant in the area . read more

First time visitors to this restaurant! We enjoyed it all. We started with the Calamari and homemade chips and dips. Both were excellent, the Calamari was lightly breaded, cooked to perfection, not rubbery like so many spots. The chips were delicious as well both came with great dips. Next, I had the burger ordered medium and it was! It was juicy and very tasty, came with FF they were equally good. Husband had the Ciabatta watch he loved too. Server Kaylee was great, she was very attentive and service with a smile... The only reason it was 5 stars as it feel short on dessert, only row which left us not ordered...it's an easy fix, there is even a woman in Keene makes a good tiramisu , ask Luca Paris ! read more

The Smoking Trout opened recently in Marlborough in the former Piedra Fina restaurant building on NH Route 101. This restaurant space inside was redone which has table seating along the front windows and adjacent to the bar which has seating too. The lighting here is a bit dim and the noise level is moderate. This place is becoming pretty popular with the locals. This casual restaurant and bar (gastropub) serves up a variety of pub fare, but no "trout" offered including sandwiches, burgers, appetizers, salads, seafood chowder, French onion soup, mac & cheese (with topping options), fish (cod) & chips, salmon, steak, chicken, and desserts (chocolate chip cookie skillet with ice cream & banana bread pudding). The prices are moderate here. I tried to stop in here last weekend, but they were closed due to regrouping and resetting. I stopped in here tonight for early dinner and was seated by a hostess standing at the door at a table across from the bar. My waiter arrived promptly with cold water as I looked over the menu. I started out with the Calamari appetizer ($12 plus tax), which was a long plate of Fried breaded calamari rings & tentacles with a creamy and tangy remoulade Old Bay sauce. The texture of the calamari was soft and the breading was soft too, not crisp. For dinner, I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich ($14 plus tax), which was a good sized sandwich with a heaping layer of very soft sweet BBQ pulled pork on a thick soft white bun, served with hand cut fries (oily texture), sweet pickle chips and maple slaw. This sandwich platter was very filling. The hand cut fries were a bit greasy, but very flavorful, ketchup cup provided. The slaw had a soft texture too. I was so full, that I could not eat anymore and passed on the offer for the desserts which sounded great. Next time, I would skip to the entree so I can order dessert. The check for one was $28.21 with tax and before tip. The service from the waiter was efficient and he refilled my water at the right time. Pretty awesome Brussels sprout appetizer, amazing pretzel sticks for starters. The fish and chips was just average but the fried chicken and waffles was great. Coleslaw was a disappointment and not enough of it. Should be a solid bowl with fish and chips. Great service atmosphere and bathrooms. Let me start with, food was delicious. We went for Valentine's Day and were enjoying our meal up until the cook started screaming and swearing at the waitresses and other staff. Mind you, there was a very young child sitting just outside the open kitchen, who was less disruptive than your cook. The whole place, which isn't very large, heard and it was incredibly uncomfortable. Us, as well as the entire row of tables, hurried up and finished our meals, since we had all come to enjoy our Valentine's dinners which had effectively been disrupted and ruined thanks to your lovely cook making young girls cry. Would have been 5 stars if not for the unfortunate, unprofessional behavior of him. Kitchens are stressful, maybe he should go to therapy, try meditation, or maybe a different , less high-intensity profession? read more

My only complaint, as a French Canadian, is that you DO NOT EVER PUT BACON ON POUTINE! lol We started with the smoked cheddar biscuits with pimento cheese and they were warm, flaky, and melt in your mouth. Our entrées were the fish and chips, which was a huge portion and the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Fish was perfectly cooked and not greasy. We also had the seafood chowder which was stuffed full of fresh clams, lobster, and shrimp with homemade croutons. My companion had the pulled pork sandwich which was succulent with a generous portion of meat. We finished with the decadent cast iron lava cookie which was more than enough for 2. Everything was amazing and service was super friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was a little noisy but it was a Saturday night. Definitely a hidden gem. read more

I went here based almost entirely on the Yelp reviews as I was looking for a "good" general purpose restaurant - not too fancy, but more than a diner - on the way to see a show in Keene. The reviews are on-target. The food here seems fresh and is attentively prepared. It's a little rough around the edges, but I take that for how you know that you're getting real food prepared by real people. I suspect that if you stick to the burger, soups, salads, and sandwiches you will be just fine here. The staff were very friendly and competent. On a Saturday night at dinner time, it was certainly busy, but we got seated right away and it didn't seem that the wait for larger parties was particularly long. The only down-side seemed to be that the noise level was a bit high. I'm sure that it's more reasonable on a less busy night. Prices are quite reasonable. read more

I brought my mother here for a birthday luncheon. We started off with two mocktails (strawberry basil lemonade, and the "Brooke" which is berry pulp and soda). Both light and refreshing. The street corn was dynamite and an excellent starter for the meal. The brussel sprouts were tasty and twangy too but the corn was wowzers. We both had the same entree... steak frites, cooked to perfect medium rare with tasty Parmesan truffle fries. They have just started serving brunch on weekends, and we now have our go to place right down the street from our house. Sit at the bar...Chris and Brianna are both great...super service and creative well made drinks. I had my first Michelada...a great brunch drink with the a Bloody Mary flavor and beer refreshment. My wife had the salmon egg scramble...creamy eggs with all the smoked salmon mix ins and a huge pile of smoked salmon on top. I had the hash and eggs...crispy flavorful hash with perfect poached eggs and home fries crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful inside. A great Sunday morning! Holy Moly, you have to check this place out. Charlie jumps on a dream and has created a menu focused on upscale bar food as well as integrity' conscious sustainable fish and poultry. I have to BLOW UP his Poutine. Crispy hand cut fries, a gravy worth the price of the dish...(3 day reduction to create this stock) and cheese curds that melt to create strings of deliciousness. He won't put trout on the menu, as wild trout are actually an endangered species. A Chef with integrity in Marlborough! read more

I've been with several people each time, so I've sampled quite a bit of the menu and everything I've had is delicious. It's a really solid tavern style menu, with several nice entrees. The chef's idea was really smart: keep it fairly simple, but make sure everything is phenomenal. For instance, not sure how you make chips and onion dip that good!!
